  1. Hi, Need to ask the experts here. I bought used cars from direct sellers before and we did direct transfer and cashier order hand over in LTA. There is a line in the LTA transfer form for the seller to declare that he has no more outstanding loan. My question is , how do I know if one really has no outstanding loan? can one make a false declaration and end up my car get towed by finance company after the ownership is transferred? I guess once the ownership is transferred, finance company cannot reposes the car from the new owner?
  2. New cars usually come with free camera, but the camera will off when engine off. If you connect camera to draw power from battery, it will void warranty. Heard that if we install a battery Power Pack to ensure camera is running when engine is off, it will not void warranty, but some say it will void warranty. Anybody knows if battery Power Pack voids warranty ?
  3. Dear fellow drivers, As our vehicles age, due to high COE + due to 40% DP required + etc, please ensure that your tail lights and at least 2 of your your brake lights are working! Just these few days alone, I have come across more than 10 cars with 2 or ALL brake lights not working. I have already tried my best to inform these drivers when we stopped along side at junctions. But there is only so much I can do. Please, check your brake lights. This is how you can check your tail lights and brake lights by yourself if you have no one else to check for you. 1) When reverse-parked in front of a wall, off your lights and observe the wall behind. Switch on your headlights and check your side mirrors. The 2 corners of your car rear should have red light casted on the wall. To check your brake lights, switch off your headlights. Step on the brake and check the side mirrors to see there is red light casted on the wall. 2) When stopped in front of buses (and some big lorries/truck), check your rearview mirror and look at the reflection of your car rear on the windscreen of the bus behind. You can see if your brake lights are working. Please ensure your tail lights and brake lights are working. This is for your safety and for others safety as well!
  4. http://green.autoblog.com/2011/10/21/malay...mport-excise-d/ Make them exempt from import and excise duties and "robust growth" will follow. That's Malaysia's hybrid and plug-in vehicle scheme. From now through December of 2013, all hybrid and plug-in vehicles sold in Malaysia will be completely exempt from import and export duties. Malaysia's finance minister, Najib Razak, says that the duty exemption is to "promote green technology and ensure sustainable development" by encouraging domestic assembly of electric vehicles and hybrids. Kavan Mukhtyar, Frost & Sullivan's transportation head for the Asia-Pacific region, says the duty exemptions will indeed encourage automakers to launch hybrids in Malaysia: This will drive robust growth in the hybrid market over the next few years. We expect hybrid volumes to exceed 10,000 units [annually] by 2013. 10,000. That's not much, is it? Well, since Toyota sold only 162 Prius hybrids in Malaysia through the first eight months of 2011, moving up to 10,000 hybrids sold there per year would be quite an achievement.

  6. Hi Everyone Looking to purchase a car soon. Dealer has requested to make the Chq deposit out to him. Which I am uncomfortable with as he could run away with the $$. He finally agreed to have the Chq made out to his company, however this incident has made my antennas cautious. How should I still ensure that after giving the Chq deposit, it wouldnt be a fraud case? What kinda paper work I should look out for? This is a consignment car and the hand over date is approx 2 weeks later. Any old timers can share how you guys approach such deals? Usually I buy from reputable large org hence less skeptical. Thank you in advance....

  8. From Channel News Asia website: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1120849/1/.html "A-team" leaders needed to ensure Singapore's future SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says Singapore must develop the strongest possible team, with depth and resilience, to ensure its long term future. An "A team" like this would have to include both competent ministers and younger ones, so as to enable Singapore to compete in the international league of nations. Mr Lee was speaking to university students at the Kent Ridge Ministerial Forum entitled "Leadership Renewal: The 4th Generation and Beyond" at the University Cultural Centre on Tuesday. Mr Lee said that assembling an outstanding team is not an easy task because in every election, his ruling People's Action Party (PAP) finds only three new MPs, on average, who can become Ministers. He is confident he has put together an "A team", but he said he cannot assemble a second team and questioned how the opposition can find it easier to do so. Mr Lee said a two-party system is not workable in Singapore because there is simply not enough talent to form two "A teams". He emphasised that Singapore, more than any other country, needs capable leadership to tackle difficult challenges and maximise opportunities for the nation. With a mediocre government, Singapore will fail, warned Mr Lee. He said a two-party system will also throw up other problems, such as a division in society based on class or racial lines and groups pushing different policies. And because there is a lack of talent, Mr Lee said he also disagrees with Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong's recent opinion that future ministers may end up serving only two terms. Mr Lee said that is not possible because of the lack of numbers. Mr Lee said Singapore has achieved this much today because of the various policies and systems the PAP government has put in place. These include introducing policies to give all citizens a stake in the country's success and adapting a political system that will not be divisive for Singapore, such as creating the elected Presidency. Today, Mr Lee said, Singapore's success is widely recognized. He said the PAP accepts that some people will want to join the opposition and propound alternative policies. But he added that as long as the government is competent and doing a good job for Singaporeans, Mr Lee hopes that the citizens will share the same cause with the PAP team to ensure that things remain on the right path. Mr Lee called on Singaporeans to help this leadership renewal succeed, which he said will help the government develop good policies that will continue to bring prosperity and progress to Singapore. "They (PAP team) need the voters' full support, not just to get elected but to deliver results for you....This is the way to safeguard our future - not to weaken the A team in the hope of buying insurance but to strengthen the A team to give it the best chance of succeeding," said Mr Lee. "Over next 40 years, you will be building your careers and families. For you to do this in a secure, stable and prosperous Singa
  9. An 80 year old lady was being interviewed by the local news station because she had just gotten married - for the fourth time. The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation. "He's a funeral director," she answered. "Interesting," the newsman thought. He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and what they did for a living. She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years. After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly, explaining that she'd first married a banker when she was in her early 20's, then a circus ringmaster when in her 40's, later on a preacher when in her 60's, and now in her 80's, a funeral director. The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked her why she had married four men with such diverse careers. She smiled and explained "I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go"
