Lady stands in front of the parking lot to ‘chope’ for this Mitsubishi Lancer

TL;DR - This middle-aged woman was standing in front of a car park lot at AMK in an attempt to reserve the lot for a Mitsubishi Lancer. If you didn't know, 'chope' basically means to reserve/declaring that its yours. Singaporeans often use tissue packets to 'chope' seats at free-seating areas such as hawker centres. Watch this 36-second clip to see how this woman stood there to be a human tissue packet. What happened? This lady stood in front of a parking lot at AMK Hub so that her Mitsubishi Lancer could get the lot. It was said that there were many empty lots around the mall, somehow this one in particular is the chosen one. Also probably because it's the one nearest to the entrance of AMK Hub. I guess Singaporeans no longer use tissue packets to 'chope', we now use our bodies...? Online Chatter I wonder just how many times she has done this. Takeaway Please do not allow/ask your family and friends to hog the lots, especially not in this way. It is extremely dangerous as other vehicles may not see them standing there, which can lead to dire consequences. This is referring to peak hours traffic on 3-4 lanes expressways or major roads. It's common to see container trucks, earth-carrying trucks, big lorries, going slowly at 50kmh+ in lane2, hogging the traffic behind when general speed in lane2 is close to 80-90, but the cars behind are not fast enough to find a gap in lane1 (which is full of faster cars) to overtake these hogging trucks. These cars end up overtaking from the left!! Worst is when these trucks will slow to crawling speeds when they climb up flyovers eg Benjemin Shears bridge etc making cars behind also crawl. I though they can actually stay away from lane2 and use 3 or 4 to allow free flow in lanes 1, 2? Hopefully there will be new rules to ban them on lane2 during peak hours if it's a four-lane expressway.

Sharing some videos of persistent road hoggers i met recently. If you think road hogging is bad, you should look at these elites. Ya i know my music is loud, blackvue microphone cannot tahan my SPL 5k setup. There is no law in singapore that disallow loud music while travelling. Lane 1 is NOT a cruising lane. don't be like that ambulance idiot and jam the 1st lane. Dont blame people for tailgating because you are the one that cause the tailgater to tailgate. NO ONE WILL tailgate an considerate driver. *Note that in all my video i will high beam the driver 1st to let him/her know to please give way, dont block the OVERTAKING lane, THEN only if he/her ignore then i will horn. To the black car with the McDonald's decal traveling along above 2 roads on right lane this morning around 8.15 to 8.25.. I am the silver civic in front of u. For your info I was stuck behind a champagne altis that was traveling around 30 to 50 km/h even at stretches when road was fairly clear. With that kind of speed and heavy traffic, and considering I was going to keep to this lane 2 traffic light down, I decide not to overtake on the left. I share your frustration of being stuck. This hogger was an idiot but u are an even bigger idiot for tailgating me and blaring your horn at me twice. I think the 2nd time u choose to stick too close to me and almost hit me when I had to stop due to this slow pok altis suddenly braking and you decided to vent your frustration unaware I am not the hogger. I would have stopped over and asked you what you want if my wife was not into her 1st week of work and cannot be late. You should have realized your stupidity when I subsequently made my u-turn and you can see the altis. Nonetheless screw you for your earlier actions.

Hi All, I have just been advised by a TP on CTE that there is no such penalty called "road hogging". Only "road hinderance". Any one can verify this? I am not booked for anything. thanks

I am reminded this morning when the whole traffic is being slow down by a "L" plate driver. "Please be patient, give me a chance to learn" During rush hour!!!

People need to stop Road Hogging and learn the sentence "Keep Left Unless Overtaking" Don't they realize once they road hog They Slow down all the traffic... Slow Traffic = Govt chance to implement ERP / Increase ERP!

Apparently the habit of many passengers to hog the space near the train doors is causing bottlenecks especially during peak hours. Despite announcements at the platform urging these passengers to move further into the train interior and not clog up the entrance spaces, these passengers simply bochup.... Should SMRT hire a few 'pushers' like those in japan to push everyone into the trains? what sort of qualifications/skills must these pushers have? no need to hire sumo wrestlers, i hope.. or put a chio bu in bikini at the inner-most part of every train, passengers see her will automiatic move inside?

Ambulance is on lane 1 of expressway doing a consistent 80kmh. Lights are flashing but no siren. There is at least 10 car lengths between ambulance and front car. Can chiet or not?

This morning about five to six cars including myself , had to trail behind a slow moving silver Toyota Wish in lane 1 for about ten minutes along CTE towards SLE. Then came a TP which rode beside him for a short while, then the Wish and TP stopped at the road shoulder. Dont know is it for road hogging, which looks like to me. First time I see this. *clap*

assuming there is a car A traveling at lane 1 with the speed of 110km/h with no cars in front of him, car B is keeping pace with Car A in lane 1. so what is the "acceptable" distance for Car B to keep pace with Car A in order not to be "deemed" as road hogging? keeping in mind of safety at that speed.

Hi all experienced drivers. Jus wondering: If i am travelling on lane 1, at 100kmh, on a 3-lane expressway, with medium traffic, and speed limit 90kmh, like 2 or 3pm in the afternoon, and a supercar tailgate, expecting me to give way, is it considered road hogging if i dont give way?

On 3 lane expressways, still can close 1 eye when good vehicle travel on lane 2 due to some extremely slow vehicles on lane 3. Whats the excuse for being on lane 2 on 5 lane expressways(some part of ECP) ? Also, notice more using lane 1 nowadays, and its not even due to some massive jam. Probably wont be so annoyed if they travel at least 80 if using lane 2, and at least 90 if using lane 1.

Why can't people just give way ? When someone come up fast behind me on lane 1 and I do not want to speed up, i signal to filter left. (Unless of course it's bumper to bumper in front. ) If I want to go fast again, just filter right to lane 1. What's so difficult. If any1 decide to play the role to police other drivers in this case, join the tp, otherwise just be gracious.

Anyone noticed this recently? I've started to notice for the past week or so that taxis are now hogging in lane 1 quite frequently. Just today kena twice. First time was to work. A cab was hogging lane 1 from PIE towards Eunos after Upper Bukit Timah exit all the way to after the Old Police Academy. Another was going home. From PIE towards Tuas after Paya Lebar all the way to BKE, I think. Wonder what's their problem? Last time most drive like F1 racers. Now that F1 is coming, they drive slow and cautiously in Lane 1. A slow (pun intended) and silent protest?

Ok, just wanna rant abit. Yesterday night about 730pm on the way home from Chinatown. Enter CTE to AYE and was behind this grey Honda Ody at the Outram AYE entrance. He was in lane 1 doing only 60-70km/h, car in front of him at least 10car length. So i did a test, turn on my right signal and waited to see if he switch lane. From Outram all the way to Normanton park, he stuck to his lane speed ranging from 70-85km/h. All the time in front of him NO CAR. Worst thing is, he was doing some tapping of brakes from time to time even when the traffic in front of him was 10 car length At Normanton, i switch to the left lane and proceed to exit from Dover. Saw a uncle driver. KNNz, cannot make it If no confident to drive then dun drive lah If u know this driver please ask him to wake up!!

1. I observed that in CBD areas, the OL often like to walk close and side by side to each other such that they basically block the whole passage ways. This is especially so during lunch times. Not only they walk slowly but they totally don't care about those who are walking fast behind and rushing for times. 2. I withnessed a scenairo today. A man behind was blocked by a bunch of OL infront, walking slowly and occupying the passage-way like they owned the place. This man asked one of the girls that "must you ladies block the way like that"...one of the OL replied: "you didn't say excuse me, how do you expect us to give way to you?". My goosh . 3. In Hong Kong, if you walk like that during rush hours, people behind you either force their ways through or making nasty comments from behind liao. Regards,

... so, who is at fault first? tail gaters or road hoggers? I hate both actually. But just to send message to those bros and sis out there who like to drive on the right lane with speed limit 90km/h. For Road Hoggers, get your mentality right! Right lane only is for overtaking, if your front is clear and there is a car rushing behind you, you suppose to give way. Now for Tailgatters, you think you can brake your car on time that won't cause collision?? If the idiots in front of you blocking you, just overtaking from the left and move on, don't need to challenge the idiot who is roadhogging. -
somebody kill me please..... How the F did this bugger pass Road hogging - the other side of the coin I REFER to the letter, 'Road hogging a bigger problem than tailgating'. I agree that road hogging is irritating and inconsiderate. However, I beg to differ on one important point. Are the people whom we perceive as road hogging really road hogging? Any driver can tell you that the speed limit for most roads in Singapore is 50kmh and for expressways, 80kmh or 90kmh. For the KJE, it is 70kmh. (SINCE WHEN) If you try driving at these speed limits, give or take 5kmh either way, you will be honked at, stared at and generally made to feel embarrassed about your speed. Anybody in doubt of this need only look at L plate learners on the road and you will understand what I mean. L plate learners are the only ones who truly adhere to the speed limit and they get overtaken easily. So, are road hoggers really posing a danger or are they law-abiding citizens adhering to the traffic rule? On the other hand, I have often been tailgated by vans and small lorries in particular. Will the commercial vehicles, heavily laden, be able to stop in time if I have to stop suddenly? Given a choice between driving behind a road hogger or driving in front of a tailgater, I will take the former any time. At least the road-hogger can teach me a thing or two about respecting traffic rules.
