Dr Leo Kah Woon also installed a keylogging software on the laptop he shared with his wife to spy on her personal communications. He later used the information he got in their divorce proceedings. For his actions, a disciplinary tribunal of the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) suspended him from practising for three months from Dec 18 last year. In its grounds of decision published on Tuesday (March 5), the tribunal noted that a suspension "would well deter like-minded medical and other professionals who have access to large databases of personal information from abusing the privilege”. In particular, last year’s SingHealth data leak served as a “timely reminder” for everyone to treat cyber security with “the utmost seriousness”, the tribunal added. Read also S$50,000 fine for psychiatrist who failed to protect patient’s confidential info Dr Leo, who has since divorced his wife, now practises at his own clinic at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. He was employed at SGH when he committed the offences. In 2017, he was fined S$13,000 in the court for his actions. The SMC then began disciplinary proceedings against him, as his offences implied a character defect making him unfit for the medical profession. THE SPYING BEGAN Dr Leo and his wife tied the knot in 2005. However, sometime in 2011, he started suspecting that she was cheating on him. Her alleged lover was identified in SMC’s grounds of decision merely as Mr C. Around September 2012, he installed a keylogging software in the MacBook Pro laptop he shared with his wife. The software captured her keystrokes and took periodic screenshots when she used the computer, which were sent to his email account. This meant that he could gather information about emails and instant messages that she sent. The spying continued when she left their home to live with her parents and took the laptop with her. The tribunal noted that in October 2012, she began “very acrimonious” divorce proceedings against Dr Leo after he asked her to leave their home. The pair, who have two children, finalised their divorce in May 2015. During their divorce proceedings in the Family Justice Courts, Dr Leo used the information he gathered to explain his concerns about issues relating to the custody, care and control of their children. He also wanted to find out all he could about Mr C’s wife at the time, identified as Ms A, and reach out to her. Dr Leo hoped that Ms A would be able to convince her husband to leave his family alone. On Nov 7, 2012, when Dr Leo could not find any reliable public information to contact Ms A, he used a computer at SGH to search for her contact details in the hospital computer system. He then gave the details to his sister and told her to call Ms A. Ms A came to know of her husband’s infidelity from that call. Mr C then filed a complaint with the SMC against Dr Leo and the police were called in to investigate when the illegally obtained emails and messages were used in the divorce proceedings. Dr Leo’s wife was fined S$3,500 by the courts, for abetting a private investigator to unlawfully access his Asus laptop on Dec 18, 2012. She had seen documents related to the divorce proceedings on it and wanted to make copies of them. A LACK OF INTEGRITY The SMC sought a suspension of at least six to eight months for Dr Leo, while his lawyers asked for a S$10,000 fine. While the SMC argued that Dr Leo had displayed dishonesty, which could see him being struck off the registry of medical practitioners, the disciplinary tribunal concluded that there was no clear evidence of that in his conduct. Instead, it said that he clearly displayed a lack of integrity “to a somewhat appalling extent”. Dr Leo had hired a private investigator to surveil his wife, including installing the keylogging software on the laptop to gather evidence against her in the event of divorce proceedings. To use this evidence “brings (his) integrity to the lowest of levels”, the tribunal added. As members of the public expect doctors to keep medical records confidential, a fine would not be enough to correct his breach of trust, it said. “A suspension would also convey to the public that the disciplinary tribunal does not condone such behaviour and acts, even if they are related to matters in the private family domain. It will convey the message clearly that doctors are expected to conduct themselves with integrity and ethically both in their professional and private lives,” the tribunal added. Dr Leo was also censured, as well as ordered to give a written undertaking to the SMC not to engage in similar conduct and to pay the costs of the disciplinary proceedings. i smell a rat...seems like all sorts bad news abt doctors of late.....sth brewing??? then Gan KY talks abt increases in healthcare costs...hmmm

  6. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/suspended-net-playground-at-city-square-mall-to-open-in-early-9520340 Suspended net playground at City Square Mall to open in early 2018 Airzone said it utilises "untapped spaces" in between floors of City Square Mall. (Photo: Facebook/Airzone) 22 Dec 2017 07:59PM(Updated: 22 Dec 2017 09:10PM) Share this content Bookmark SINGAPORE: Fancy clambering and dangling three to six storeys up in the middle of a shopping mall? Or does the thought make you dizzy? An upcoming elevated playground suspended by net structures at City Square Mall will be able to hold 60 people at a time, its operator Ultimate Entertainments Group told Channel NewsAsia on Friday (Dec 22). The attraction, spread across six "levels", will feature a suspended ball pit with more than 10,000 balls, a slide, a maze which climbers can crawl through, paths, slopes, as well as a games and activity zone, which can be used for fitness and trampoline classes. The attraction will be able to hold up to 20 people per level, and a total of 60 people at a time, it said. Ultimate Entertainments Group said the Airzone project at City Square Mall is the "world's first" net playground built in a shopping centre atrium. The playground, which is set to open in the first quarter of 2018, consists of safety nets and high wire designed for trapeze and circus acts, said Ultimate Entertainments Group. Airzone said it utilises "untapped spaces" in between floors of City Square Mall. (Photo: Facebook/Airzone) Responding to media queries from Channel NewsAsia about how safe the structure is, Ultimate Entertainments Group explained that the net structures "are actually safety features themselves". The anchors holding the playground in place were designed to hold the weight of a car, the operator added. Ticketing details on the Airzone website states that participants are required to be under 120kg. Ultimate Entertainments Group said it is working with Xtrem Adventures Group, which has designed and installed net parks in various countries like USA, China, India and Germany. Airzone said the nets can hold up to 60 people at any one time or 20 people per level. (Photo: Facebook/Airzone) "There are over a hundred net-based playgrounds or adventure courses throughout the world with most of them located in France or Europe," Ultimate Entertainments Group said, adding that most are in outdoor settings. The operator said the attraction would "excite and maximise untapped spaces in between floors of City Square Mall". "This new concept has the potential to disrupt existing shopping mall and attractions business models by bringing fun activities directly to shoppers, or conversely, driving leisure seeking tourist directly to shopping malls," Ultimate Entertainments Group said. Airzone said it utilises "untapped spaces" in between floors of City Square Mall. (Photo: Facebook/Airzone) The company added that pricing and session times for the Airzone playground at City Square Mall will be released soon. 8. One of the rats must have took MRT from Bukit Batok to Marina Square to have lunch at Hotpot Culture. Sebei gross sia. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/what-is-buzzing/rats--customers-find--extra-ingredient--at-porridge-buffet---070503504.html [uPDATED 9 January 2015, 8:30 PM: NEA suspends Hotpot Culture Restaurant, investigating rat issue] The National Environment Authority (NEA) has suspended Hotpot Culture Restaurant after a rat carcass was allegedly found in one of its dishes. "The restaurant has been instructed to suspend its operations immediately while NEA conducts its investigations," said its spokesman in a media statement to Yahoo Singapore. What was supposed to be a value-for-money porridge buffet for a group of colleagues turned into a stomach churning experience after a customer allegedly spotted a dead rat in one of the restaurant’s free-flow dishes. Ms Caron Chan, who declined to reveal her occupation, was with four other colleagues at Hot Pot Culture’s porridge buffet at Marina Square when they made the grisly find. According to her, a colleague had spotted what she thought was a rat’s tail in a vegetable dish. Chan then proceeded to scoop out the rest of the mystery meat, to discover to her disgust that it was a whole rat carcass. She then approached a staff member. “The staff member didn’t even react quickly, she handled something else first, then came to us and told another employee to remove it. She just said sorry and that they would serve a new batch,” said Chan. “What about the other customers who already ate it? That was so gross. They should have quickly stopped operations.” Completely turned off by their find, Chan and her colleagues left the restaurant without paying, but informed the table next to them, which had already eaten the dish. “The lady at the table next to us told us that she was still charged by the restaurant. She has already lodged a complaint with the National Environment Agency,” said Chan, who posted photos of the rat dish on her Facebook account, which has since been shared widely. When Yahoo Singapore called Hot Pot Culture, the manager on duty said she was unaware of the rat incident. “As far as I know, I just heard that the dish wasn’t fresh and so we replaced it,” she said. When pressed further for information from the management, she took down the contact of this reporter and said the owner would be in touch. Another report from Stomp http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/this-urban-jungle/eeew-body-of-rat-found-in-dish-of-salted-vegetables-at-chinese-restaurant The lady should have called police & NEA right away and not inform the staff working there. Stand there with her colleagues to stop ppl from eating anything. Call police is to make sure the staff do not take the dish away and their respond time may be faster dan NEA.

This after discrepancies were found last month during a review of the procurement process of the Brompton bikes, which cost $2,200 each. The ministry, in a statement on Tuesday night, said an MND internal audit team was tasked by National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan in July, to work with NParks to review the purchase of the 26 foldable bikes, 'with a view to ascertain its justification and to see if its procurement process could be improved'. The audit, which was competed last month, followed a news report on the purchase on June 24.
  11. Hur..... Death Sentence for Corruption .... I think too harsh leow ..... Just strip him off all his properties and make him a begger.... China ex-rail minister gets suspended death for bribery BEIJING: A Chinese court Monday gave former railways minister Liu Zhijun a suspended death sentence, the highest-ranking official to be punished for corruption since new leaders took office vowing to clean up the ruling Communist Party. Once hailed as the "father" of China's flagship high-speed rail network, Liu, 60, was convicted of bribery and abuse of power by a court in Beijing, the official Xinhua news agency said. State television showed the diminutive, bespectacled defendant standing impassively in the dock in a dark jacket, flanked by two police. Liu was sacked as railways minister in 2011 after eight years in the post, and the scandal surrounding him is reported to have involved as much as 800 million yuan (US$130 million). He was charged and convicted of accepting 64.6 million yuan in bribes to help 11 people secure contracts and promotions, Xinhua said, adding that he "took advantage of his positions" and "inflicted colossal losses in the public assets, violating rights and interests of the state and the people". "Liu Zhijun was sentenced to the death penalty with two years' suspension," a court official told AFP by phone. Under Chinese law the death penalty can be imposed for taking bribes exceeding 100,000 yuan. Suspended death sentences are normally commuted to life imprisonment. The court also ordered all of Liu's personal property to be confiscated and issued a separate sentence of 10 years in prison for abuse of power, Xinhua said. link: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapa...ter/737172.html
