  1. WASHINGTON (REUTERS) - Some people were killed when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) sped through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Sunday (Nov 21), bowling over at least 20 people, including several youngsters waving pompoms and a group of “Dancing Grannies”. Waukesha police chief Dan Thompson said a person of interest was in custody and the suspect vehicle had been recovered after the incident in Waukesha, about 32km west of Milwaukee. “The vehicle struck more than 20 individuals. Some of the individuals were children and there are some fatalities as a result of this incident,” Mr Thompson told reporters. A video of the incident posted online showed a red SUV ploughing through the parade, appearing to run over more than a dozen people. In a second video, police appeared to open fire on the vehicle as it crashed through street barriers. Mr Thompson said an officer fired shots at the vehicle and no bystanders were injured. Possible SUV in question here.
  2. I think I spotted @Tianmo, @bavarian, @Chowyunfatt and Picnic06 in the pictures .... Yahoo news: Tens of thousands march for gay rights in Taiwan Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Taipei on Saturday for Asia’s largest gay rights parade, with many urging parliament to push through a controversial bill recognizing same-sex marriage. Supporters from Taiwan and abroad waved placards reading “equal marriage rights” and “support gay marriage” as they marched through the capital for the 12th annual Walk in Queers’ Shoes parade Gay and lesbian groups in Taiwan, one of Asia’s more liberal societies, have been urging the government for years to legalize same-sex marriage. Parliament started reviewing a bill on the issue last year. Participants revel through a street during a gay and lesbian parade in Taipei, Taiwan, Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014. 3. National Day is round the corner and NDP19 rehearsals are in full swing. This year the Bicentennial parade will be held at the Padang. Had the wonderful opportunity to attend an NE show and the experience was fantastic. Will share some videos here to build up some NDP fervour. It was quite something to watch the Red Lions land safely in the Padang after jumping off from a Super Puma helicopter high up in the sky. Red Lions landing, led by 1st Warrant Officer Melvin Ho, with 1,400 jumps. He was the team leader for NDP19 Red Lions jump team, and he executed a perfect landing right in the middle of the Parade Square.

  5. SINGAPORE: Several measures will be put in place to reduce vehicular speed and improve pedestrian safety at the roundabout in Marine Parade where a fatal accident took place in March. Announcing the measures on Monday (May 20), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said it will implement tighter turning angles that lower motorists' speeds before entering the roundabout. "To slow down motorists as they turn into Silversea condominium, the turning radius will also be tightened," LTA added. The crossing point for pedestrians will be moved to allow them to cross further away from the main flow of traffic at the roundabout, said LTA. These measures are in addition to the road warning signs and speed regulating strips announced in the wake of the accident, which killed an 82-year-old pedestrian. Residents of Marine Parade had called for more safety measures, saying they have seen motorists drive dangerously at the roundabout, and that the pavement on the perimeter of the roundabout is too narrow. The two-lane roundabout has three exits that lead to Marine Parade Road, Amber Road and the Silversea condominium. According to residents, the roundabout is heavily used by drivers to get to the city via Mountbatten Road or towards Parkway Parade on Marine Parade Road. never thought of this road as dangerous in particular. in fact i treat all roundabouts in sg as dangerous becuz we dun use it often enough to be very familiar with how a roundabout works. if want to compare which more dangerous im looking at newton circus. u see cars doing last min exits from inner lanes etc.... drivers not familiar with roundabouts, jus go slower, signal ur intentions, check b4 u exit. if its not safe to exit, just go another round. its a roundabout u can go on and on and on w/o obstructing anyone.
  6. I only knew about the foodcourt at Parkway Parade undergoing renovation and will be replaced by Food Republic when I wanted to have dinner there with my wife yesterday evening. I missed my favourite stall that sells Mee Rebus, Mee Siam, Curry Chicken, Laksa and Chin Chow run by Chinese. I don't think that stall is going to be there when the new foodcourt opens under a new management in Nov 12. Anybody knows where this particular stall is now located? Thank you.
  7. Ok, I did my searches and I could not find any thread started on NDP 2016. I found NDP 2015, 14 etc. So I am starting this thread. However, if I missed a thread that already started for NDP 2016, please forgive me. Struck me that NDP 2016 is the SG51 NDP. (since last year was SG 50). It is the 1st NDP for the next 50 years of Singapore's development. I got a kid who attended the NE show and came back with a fun pack that was quite cool. I loved the Singapore scarf.

  13. I will be especially looking forward towards this Thursday national parade. Friday will be on leave, so it's a long weekends for me to celebrate with wine! We will know the answer by national day parade evening. I suppose our president will return from Olympic to attend the parade, and perhaps the bronze medal champion FTW will also grace the parade as special guest star?
  14. Hougang must have the highest concentration of bums with nothing to do. I have never seen so many people cheering the fact they are living in a slum. They rejected a credible young star, upgraded toilets and even free legal service for some bum who only recieved 1 vote in a closed door meeting. I wonder how to liberate these people from their years of being brainwashed. The DPM already tried his best but still failed. Funeral mourners also come and cheer
  15. Just want to ask bros ur view. I was driving at night at the marine parade roundabout. I was at the outder lane. I had NO INTENTION of filtering out at the next available exit and I did not signal my intention to do so. While passing by one of the exits, a car from the inner lane suddenly swerved out and hit the front of my car. It can be argued that my frint hit his side. Anyway, my point is that the marine parade roundabout has no lane markings so there is no obligation for me to exit even on outer lane and even if one were to argue otherwise, the car from the inner lane should not have cut out suddenly. My question here is, will I lose my NCD? What proportion of blame will be awarded to me by insurers in such a situation? Just opinions or if you have facts, please say so. I now waiting to hear from insurers.
  16. Hi, any good food for recommendation at Mahkota Parade ? Thanks!!
  17. A car driven over a million miles is not something we hear that often. Even one driven over half a million miles is pretty rare and when I heard about this story of a vehicle mechanic who have drove his Honda Accord over a million miles, I just had to share this with everyone as it is something rather amazing. The owner of this fourth generation Accord is Joe LoCicero, nicknamed
  18. It was the 2nd biggest factor in me voting for the Opposition. It may sound funny to many of you guys that even though MP is not my constituency, I should not have bothered. But it is the PAP selection process that failed and my vote says so.
  19. ... TPL parading into Parliament
  20. Pls look for me if you need to sell your hse, I will help you find one in Aljunied or Hougang.
  21. I'm sure she is not the only Singaporean to face this problem..
  22. You are very very important!!! You guys will determine if capable and patriotic Singaporeans will come forward to serve our people depending on whether CSM and Sylvia gets elected. If they dun. Next election will see a dearth of talent for opp. More importantly, if you vote for Tin Pei Lin. Then 5 or 10 more Tin Pei Lins will be introduced in the next election in my ward!!!!!!!
