  1. This video talk about how great the Led traffic light as compared to the incandescent traffic light. But it's not perfect. And that's where the problem lies. These led traffic light beat incandescent traffic light in almost every way except in very cold weather condition. Led traffic light bulb emits very little heat and during heavy snow and the outside temperature is extreme low, ice will form up on the traffic light and make it very difficult to see the light. This is not a problem with incandescent traffic light. This prompt news and many people living in cold countries to want to revert back to incandescent traffic light. So this youtuber point out a very important fact and lesson that we could learn from this incident. He point it out as "but sometimes". When newer technologies come and have great benefits and beat older technologies in almost every way, when the only one aspect that the old technology win, people start to compare and blown things out of proportion. The blown out effect is such that it will say until the older technology is alot better then the newer technology whereas in actual fact it is the opposite. This episode could also be a learning for everyone be it individuals or to companies at management level to even ministers who make decisions on policies to understand the danger of "but sometimes" issue. This is so that we could be very clear headed and take a stepback and look into the issue. The new invention vs the old one and look at the fact sheet, statistics and then reconationalize on the benefit vs the side effects instead of purely based on public perception and or feedback.

  8. Hi, I am a light-footer on the accelerator. At times, my car will shudder or jerk during gear change. The shudder happens only when I try to accelerate (lightly) after dropping speed (i.e downing from higher gears). The shudder is just like how a manual transmission car is about to stall when there's insufficient rev. The shudder will go away when 1) I release my footing from the accelerator, or 2) I rev harder on the accelerator. The problem does not happen all the time on all gears, but only about a couple of times per drive, and only at gear change between gear 2/3/4 (i have a 6 speed auto gear box). Also, if I provide a heavier footing on the accelerator, I will not get this problem at all. Well, I don't wish to be heavy on the gas all the time, as it will drive up fuel consumption. It's also not my driving habit. What could be the problem? Is there a problem with the gears, auto transmission system, oil, or valves? I'm loss at this as I can't seem to find much info about this from the internet. Thanks!

  11. Noting that the level of political debates in Singapore has generally gone up a notch, Mr Lee noted that some of the speeches by the Nominated Members of Parliament have sparked "widespread reactions" among the public. . Said Mr Lee: "The Government might not agree with their views but it is good that they can speak their mind in Parliament. This is how it should be and it also fulfils our objective of appointing NMPs." .But Mr Lee was less approving in his assessment of the performance of the Opposition MPs. . "In fact, they seldom engage the Government head-on in Parliamentary debates. Potong Pasir MP Chiam See Tong speaks less nowadays. Non-constituency MP Sylvia Lim's speeches are rather cautious and reserved, which, of course, is a good thing," said Mr Lee. . On Workers' Party's chief Low Thia Khiang, Mr Lee said: "He is very sharp but he seldom debates about the thrust of government policies and the broader issues. It seems like he is more passionate about nitpicking and making the government look bad ?which is quite different from the rousing speeches he gave in the election rallies." .He added: "His attitude is that his responsibility is just to criticise government policies, and not to offer alternatives." . Mr Low and Ms Lim could not be reached for comments at press time. Mr Chiam declined to respond. . While the Government has been increasing efforts to explain its policies to Singaporeans ?due to the rising educational levels and the growing complexity of policies ?there would always be criticisms, said Mr Lee, who felt that these critics usually agree with the policies' objectives but disagree on the mechanics. And some do not understand the policies fully. . Said Mr Lee: "In fact, if we test people's understanding of policies, I think even news workers and PAP MPs might not pass." ----------- http://www.todayonline.com/articles/248273.asp
