    If you cannot squat all the way down, and go up again, start with your legs. Stretch your hips, knees, ankles daily. Us bank workers are notoriously stiff at lower limbs. Because we sit for hours on our comfortable Herman Miller chairs, and the only stretching is to walk on level carpeted aisles. Even inter-floor, also take the lift.

    Housing price has increased over the past decades but that's really due to our loose immigration policy. With the rise of AI and robotics, corporations don't need so many foreigners going forward. Even with the gradual lifting of existing cooling measures like ABSD, we shouldn't assume housing price continue to rise forever, with or without corporate/retail flippers. That said, I'm still long on mid to large size landed properties in good enclaves, due to the inherent limited supply and a healthy pool of wealthy locals vying for these plots.

    As mentioned by @therock , LTA has finally released the number for June 2026 (don't know why it came out so late) and it's time for a mid-year update on where things stand in new ride sales here in Singapore. So what's it like from a monthly, Year To Date (YTD) and on an annual basis? All numbers are combined AD + PI registrations. The month of June 2026 vs previous year (2025) and two years ago (2024). A new high for pure BEV sales in the month of June 2026! Taking a record of 70% of all new registrations. New car registrations continue to increase in 2026 (+152), but at much slower pace than in 2024 (+865). Pure ICE sales have plunged to a record low of just 3.8% of registrations, down big time compared to the same month last year --> which was already down from 2024. The big surprise is the slow down in sales of HEV and PHEVs. Two years ago, HEVs and PHEVs once took almost 50% of sales --> its down significantly in 2026. Is this a trend for the first six months of 2026 (YTD)? First six months of 2026 and Year To Date (YTD) numbers. Well the good news is that the new ride market continues to grow each year for the past three years. So who are the losers and winners for the first six months of 2026? The top 20 makes up just under 93% of all registrations for the first six months of 2026. Basically the entire market for B&B rides. The big winner is BYD (shouldn't come as surprise to those in this thread) for the first six months of 2026. One in four new rides is a BYD - so congrats to them and taking the No.1 spot. Toyota remains so far at No.2, but is looking a bit nervous as Tesla is rapidly catching up. Big moves into the top 10 includes Chery, MG, GAC and Xpeng. Zeekr just missed out of the top 10. In the past three years, China EV & Battery Co. has rapidly eaten the lunch of all the main legacy auto makers, despite an expanding market of new rides. Look at what's happened to Honda, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai and Mazda. Volkswagen no longer makes it into the top 20, which is both disappointing and surprising. The loss of market share and sales for legacy auto is quite noticeable. Even the once dominate Toyota is on a downward trajectory slope of losing market share. BEVs have almost double their market share in the past three years. Will do a follow up post to dig into the past 12 months of sales data to give some insights.

    I totally get you and we must have bought in around the same time (when coe was 11xk range). At the end of the day it's a gimmick by Tesla to make their prices competitive against BYD and other Chinese competitors. For reference I signed up when COE was 111k. During then they priced the Cat A Model Y at $202,000 which was only $2K more than the SL7 and XPeng G6. But the $202k pricing was with only a $102k ($9k below the last COE round price) COE bid for 8 rounds non guarantee whereas the Chinese competitors offered 4 rounds guaranteed. So even if COE prices were to remain flat, I would not have secured my COE after 8 rounds unless I up my bid, upgrade to a guaranteed 4 round at higher price or take their Cat E guaranteed. Which either way one would never have realistically paid the original price unless COE miraculously dropped. Agree with you that the service during the whole bidding process was non existent, after which round they just drop you a message that your bid is unsuccessful and your options are to increase your bid, take a guaranteed package (which most were >20k more expensive all in than my original price). The agent only called me once throughout because my case was transferred from another agent. In hindsight if the agent called me and recommended me to take a guaranteed option because COE would trend upwards, I would probably have taken it but throughout the process I was left to make my own guesses. Anyway no point crying over spilled milk, I decided to go back to ICE with BMW. The price difference only couple of ten thousand but at least I know I will be well taken care of, during ordering and servicing after.

    I was taking the bus home after lunch and suddenly the bus stopped outside a coffee shop not far from the terminus at Kent Ridge, and the man rushed in... laosai? The sad part was he turned off the aircon, so it was a little stuffy.. The last time this happened to me was in the 90s, haha

    If one is financially comfortable, just retire regardless of age, dont go after the additional money that one does not need. No one single cents can one be brought along to the other world. When doing retirement financnail planning, while it is good to take care of some contingencies , avoid being too conservative to plan for 100 different exceptions, this is a no end game .

    Just to rant, I visited a friend's hdb. High floor (3 and 4 rooms flats). Decided to take stairs down. Almost every single staircase landing was cluttered. It's like the TC already gave up. If need emergency escape, confirm many accidents. I can understand one or two stubborn neighbours but this is like entire column. After that i attended my condo AGM. Haven't attended one in a while. I then remembered why. You know those spinster types in corporate offices who make things difficult for everyone... They monopolised the meeting and picked on every small things. I said fk this, left and later found out session finished around 10pm (started after lunch). Maybe it's me. Or maybe I need to shift to GCB. Are neighbours there ok? 😝

    He racked up medical bills of $146k with 15 surgeries and a 62 days stay at the hospital and paid zero cash. The state is paying for it in some ways, not that I am against universal healthcare but he is going to be a dependent of the state till the day he die. In expensive Singapore, he will need subsidised nursing home care, so cannot say he is not a burden to the state yet.
