More than half of Singaporeans download music and videos illegally, even while they condemn piracy as a form of theft. A survey of 900 people last year by Singapore-based research consultancy Sycamore Research and Marketing showed that 61 per cent of people here aged 16 to 64 download movies and videos illegally over the Internet. And 17 per cent do so at least once a week. This is even though 66 per cent conceded what they were doing was stealing. Over 180 people from the media and creative industries were told of the findings yesterday at an event at GV Grand cinema. Ang Kwee Tiang, regional director of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, said the local music recording industry was in dire straits and urged responsible online behaviour. What was an almost S$90 million (US$71 million) industry in 1997 made just S$20 million (US$15.8 million) in 2012, Ang said. This despite the availability of "legal and reasonably priced alternatives in Singapore" like Amped, a streaming service, and Rdio, an Internet radio service, he added. He called for quick steps to make illegal content less available - a challenge when most illegal content is easily accessible and hosted overseas. Piracy is rampant among youth in particular, with seven out of 10 between the ages of 16 and 24 downloading illegal content. Some said piracy has become such a social norm that they do not think twice about it. "Everybody does it and everybody is used to it, so it doesn't feel like a crime," said a 29-year-old marketing manager, who visits piracy site The Pirate Bay to download United States TV shows at least twice a week. recently my company bought 10 digital cameras for our work use. however, all the sets did not come with the USB transfer cable. (mini usb type) so i emailed the manufacturer and a lady called me today. she told me that due to overwhelming feedback from consumers, they no longer ship their digital cameras with the usb cables. and the feedback was that consumers preferred to open up the battery cover and remove the sdcard and then download the pics using their computer or card reader, rather than plugging the usb cable between their computer and camera. so what is your preferred way of d/l your digital camera pics ? i told her that if i were to do that, i will be changing cameras very often as the battery cover will break or come loose more frequent too !

Hi all, I found some nice song done by an internet band that I wanna download and I found out they sell their songs in itunes.....but when I download and install itunes I got a "The item you've requested is not currently available in the Singapore Store." Suaku question: You mean after so many people go crazy over iphone/ipad/apple for so many years and they still cannot BUY MUSIC ONLINE???? If I'm wrong, can anyone tell me how to buy music via itunes? thanks

Hi guys! I just bought a pioneer 9650 export set from SLT. Price wise, its not too bad. The time alignment function is a fantastic feature, all passengers in the cabin can now enjoy a balanced sound. Other than that, the DSP is also very good. The sounds from my speakers are so much richer , though clarity is still not that improved cuz my components are lou ya ones The radio reception, though not as fantastic as i though it would be, its still a lot better than my previous HU. Question now... Where can I download the wallpaper and movies for the HU? I tried to find it at the pioneer site, but it seems pioneer is not very customer orientated
