  1. Yesterday, we were invited to the media test-drive of the 3rd generation 2020 Kia Soul booster to find out how well it drives. The new Soul just has been released in Korea, so we had a chance to test drive the 2020 Kia Soul before anyone! Let’s meet the new guy! 2020 Kia Soul GT-Line -1.6T - 204hp (6,000rpm) / 195.2 lb-ft of torque (27.0kg.m) (1,500~4,500rpm) -165.2x70.9x63.0x102.4

2020 KIA SOUL MOSTLY REVEALED IN NEW TEASERhttps://www.motortrend.com/news/2020-kia-soul-mostly-revealed-in-new-teaser/ We're exactly one week away from the reveal of the 2020 Kia Soul, and we have a pretty good idea what it will look like thanks to this new teaser. KIA has also dropped more information on engines and trim levels. The Soul adopts more of a crossover appearance up front. When viewed form the side profile, the front end looks more rounded and less boxy than before. KIA also reworked the side window design to give the illusion of a sharply sloped roofline. The model gets a new floating roof that melds into the vertical taillights. Other teasers show off bits of the interior, including the steering wheel and door handles. In one teaser, we can see the Soul's new central screen. In a press release, Kia confirms the Soul will offer a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder and a 1.6-liter turbo-four. No mention was made of a return for the base 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. Kia says it will continue to offer a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, without specifying which other gearboxes may be available. An all-electric variant will be sold in select markets. The gas-powered Soul will come in multiple trims: LX, EX, S, and GT-Line. Kia is also adding a "ruggedly styled" X-Line model. Beyond that, Kia promises increased cargo room.
  3. Some cars make you feel like a speed demon, others turn heads as they past you. Some are simply anonymous work horses, and yet others are so poorly made you feel shy telling others what you drive. But how about a funky little number that makes you feel like Noddy and is fun to look at, fun to drive and makes you want to go on an adventure? So I recently went over to North America and I was supposed to get a full sized sedan, and they offered me a Nissan Ultima, a typical workhorse of the rental car fleet... reliable, spacious and utterly boring... So I did the Oliver Twist thing and asked, “are there more choices?” Coincidentally someone had just returned a car and the kind man at Thrifty car rental allowed me to choose amongst the other cars he had, and I spied that unmistakable form in bright red, newly washed, sitting next to the grey Nissan Ultima. The choice was obvious, and I took the keys to the car and put all my gear in it. Now there are many names for this kind of vehicle, crossover, minivan or even hatchback, and its not dissimilar to my own bread van back home. The Kia Soul has a high roofline, measuring around 1.6m high, a short length of 4.1m with minimal overhang and a cliff like front, plus a pert rear. This car was supposed to be shaped like a bear with a backpack, but it looked more like Noddy the cartoon character’s hat. Despite the short length, the interior is quite spacious, and will sit a six footer in front and another behind him. It will take three abreast at a pinch, but for longer road trips, it’s best to stick to four people in the car. You do get enough space for two large bags or suitcases and another carry on, more if you fold the rear seats down. The rear floor is flat and you can slip your feet under the front seats. This plus the fact that you sit quite upright, allows surprising amount of legroom and space. At first glance, you will find most important instrumentation in your sight, and you will find a comfortable sitting position quite easily. However as mentioned, you will sit more upright than in a sports car, and whilst some prefer to slouch, I found this to be far more comfortable especially for long distance driving. The view out of the vast front widescreen is good and visibility all round is excellent. The kit provided will vary, but you should get passive safety gear like ABS and airbags, and a useful reverse camera as standard. Depending on the trim, you may get more extra. I drove the EX which has a 2.0 liter naturally aspirated engine mated to a six speed auto and this combination is also found in many other Kia cars like the Optima and cousins in the Hyundai family too. If you get the top SX trip, you will get a sweet 1.6 turbo that will turn this cute car into a hot hatch. The interior is well screwed together and the materials used are quite good. Not as impressive as the top conti cars, but a far cry from even Kia cars one generation ago. Switchgear is decent, and should last for years. So having given you a run down of the basic gist of the car, how does it drive? Well I took it across the province of Quebec, up some mountains and down to the seaside, and in short, it was a blast ! I started out in the city, so the more diminutive proportions allow it to squeeze into smaller spaces and it was also easy to park. The higher sitting position, coupled with the good all round visibility made it an easy drive around town. Now after a quick lunch, we took it out to the highway and tested the 163 horses more. It’s no Stinger, and the engine is no honda VTEC, so you get a more agricultural sound, and you will find the gearbox tends to drop gears with anything more than a light tap o n the accelerator. However whilst the engine is vocal, it doesn’t lack oomph and will keep up with traffic on the highway nicely. However it does lack good insulation and when you take it onto cobblestone roads, the din prevent proper conversation. It’s better on the highway, especially if you have the radio on. Even so, you will find better sound insulation on more expensive cars. It’s alright for the money. Despite the smaller and light body, fuel consumption is not much to boast about. You can around 8.3 l per 100km on highway driving. I suspect the form factor does not cut through the wind well. It’s stable on the highway at three digit speeds, but it feels reluctant to extend itself and gets pushed back by the wind. This car also need a longer last gear or a seventh gear. No one is going to traipse through mud and forest in this, but the higher ground clearance helps when you go off the tarmac on the odd occasions. At the end of the day is it a car you will buy? Well if you tire of those typical sedans, don’t need another sports car or even the current craze on SUVs then here you have a cool, funky, small but spacious car that will stand out in any car park. Get it in bright colors like red and yellow. Pros Spacious funky looks in a small and affordable package. Good interior and fittings Cons Could do with a smoother engine and longer gearing Sound insulation basic

  5. Base on a new book written by local writer : "Singapore Sui Dai" Yahoo news: Singapore writer laments that Singapore has lost its soul Singapore writer Felix Cheong wants to know where and why the country has lost its soul. He said, “We have become this glamour city, full of chrome and glass, tall iconic buildings, but no soul.” Cheong, author of short stories collection “Vanishing Point”, takes on this issue in his new book, along with hot-button topics like transport, education and economic growth. Called “Singapore Siu Dai”, which translates to “less sugar” in Hokkien, it is a collection of 50 short stories that satirize life in Singapore. Having previously written poetry collections and fiction novels, this is Cheong’s ninth book and his first foray into humorous fiction. The 49-year-old writer feels strongly about the political themes he tackles in his book. Civil servants are satirized in the book, depicted as characters who form the government’s elite but who do not see people as people. He said, “We have been in this same status quo for far too long. After 50 years, I think it’s time something changes.” He rejects what he describes as the “siege mentality” of the government, which often warns that “we are under siege all the time, we are a small country, we have no natural resources, and we need to grow by 2 percent, 5 percent.” While Cheong appreciates that the country needs economic growth, he does not think it should be “at the expense of soft skills, of people skills, of EQ skills.” Disappointed with the Singapore Conversation dialogue sessions held in 2013, which he felt had “a very top-down approach”, he decided to use his book to ease people into political conversations using ordinary situations they can relate to and laugh about. read more, link: https://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/singaporescene/singapore-writer-laments-that-singapore-has-lost-its-soul-084309003.html Go hawker centre, Ah Tiong doing the cooking and serving Morning peak hour MRT train, plenty FT/FW Shop assistants & counter staff - Philippinos Telephone operators - Indian accents NS songs - AWARE not happy ERP - is to ease traffic congestion ???? 6. In 2009, Hyundai and KIA had to recall 700,000 units of their models due to defective brake switches. Unfortunately, not learning from their experiences, these South Korean automakers repeat their mistake and this time, it's even worse. They now have to recall a total of 1.6 million units of cars they have produced due to the exact same problem. The brake switch defect may prevent the brake lamps from illuminating even when the brake pedal is actually stepped on. Of course, this is a big deal as it may trigger rear-end collisions. In addition to that, the defect may fail to cancel the cruise control feature while braking, prevent the push-button starter from functioning, and may even block the gear shift in the neutral position. Both KIA and Hyundai will start contacting dealers and customers of the affected models in June 2013 and will provide necessary replacements free of charge. The list of the affected models is as follows: - 2007 KIA Sedona - 2007-2009 Hyundai Tucson - 2008-2009 Hyundai Veracruz - 2007-2010 KIA Rondo - 2007-2010 KIA Sportage - 2007-2010 Hyundai Elantra - 2007-2011 KIA Sorento - 2007-2011 Hyundai Santa Fe - 2010-2011 KIA Soul - 2010-2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe - 2011 Hyundai Sonata - 2011 KIA Optima

  14. Just like to share .................. A boat docked in a tiny Goan village. A tourist from Mumbai complimented the Goan fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them. 'Not very long,' answered the fisherman. 'But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?' asked the Mumbaite. The Goan fisherman explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family. The Mumbaite asked, 'But what do you do with the rest of your time?' 'I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a siesta with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to see my friends, play guitar, sing a few songs... I have a full life.' The Mumbaite interrupted, 'I have an MBA from IIM-A, BE from DCE, PMP from PMI, CQM from ASQ, CSM from Agile, Investment Adviser cert at NASD etc. and I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat.' 'And after that?' asked the Goan. 'With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to Panjim, or even Mumbai. From there you can direct your huge new enterprise.' 'How long would that take?' asked the Goan. 'Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years,' replied the Mumbaite. 'And after that?' 'Afterwards? Well my Friend, That's when it gets really interesting,' chuckled the Mumbaite, 'When your business gets really big, you can start selling stocks and make millions!' 'Millions? Really? And after that?' asked the Goan.. 'After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings doing what you like with your buddies.' 'With all due respect sir, but that's exactly what I am doing now. So what's the point wasting 25 years?' asked the Goan. And the moral of the story is? Know where you're going in life. You may already be there. Life in the present world is indeed a rat race. Many who have qualifications from reputed universities too do not know where they are going in life.

  17. New Hyundai i10 conversion range released Aimed at budget conscious world and religious leaders Given the current economic downturn and a trend towards more eco-friendly vehicles, Hyundai sees this as the perfect time to expand this ever growing product lineup into the rapidly growing political and faith leadership transportation sector. In order to grab a firm stranglehold on this ever important market, the company has created a new conversion package for the stylish and frugal i10. Built by the Hyundai's skilled craftsmen, the new range of specially converted i10's feature a unique rear compartment that has a raised roof which enables VIPs to be driven around in comfort regardless if they prefer to sit or stand. Considering that some world leaders could potentially be blamed for failing to rectify the economy, Hyundai decided to outfit the new model with a special lightweight composite dubbed Armor Protected Roof Integrated Lining. With power being provided by a new 1.2-liter Kappa engine, fast getaways aren't exactly an i10 forte so in addition to the aforementioned APRIL body armor, the i10 also comes equipped with fully organic Weave Bean armor which is constructed of the "string" part of string beans. Weighing virtually nothing, the new armor is both stronger and lighter than traditional Kevlar. According to a confidential source at the company, the first i10 conversion will go to a German customer who currently resides in Italy. Although he failed to specifically name the client, he did inform us that the specific model being prepared for this lucky VIP will feature unique tapestry woven by monks from the Indian city of Utta Bullacs. As with all Hyundai's, the new i10 conversion comes with an extensive five year warranty that is fully transferable to new owners after general elections and military coups. Kia Aero Soul Kia Unveils Dramatic Wind-Assisted Aero-Soul How cool is this? Photos and details of the long-rumored Kia Aero-Soul concept have finally been revealed. The Korean automaker unveiled the wind-assisted version of the Soul, with sales to begin next month. The vehicle uses a low-cost system that can mount to any products in Kia's line-up. Available with new cars and retroactively, the Air Propulsion and Retardation Installation Line uses sensors to detect wind speed as the Soul is driving down the highway. Once wind speed is at a strong enough rate, panels built into the bumpers are deployed to harness the wind power to assist in speeding up the car. This system does not just work when the car is running at speed. When braking or decelerating the panels also pop out like drag chutes to help slow the car down. Also part of the system is a reverse thruster that drops down from behind the exhaust pipe to reduce the strain on the brakes. From her Mabuk, Korea, office, Kia green-technology engineer Avril Babo said, "The big problem with most emission reduction systems is that they are expensive. We wanted to come up with an answer that didn't cost the earth and could be retrospectively applied to cars already on the road." Testing in Nong Dam shows that fuel efficiency can be increased by 25%, with emissions reduced by as much as 40%. When using the system while on a severe downhill slope, fuel use and CO2 emissions drops to almost nothing. The system is even beneficial if you live in a calmer environment. Just using the system to help braking can reduce fuel use by 10%, decrease emissions by 15%, and extend brake-pad life by nearly 50%. The Kia Aero-Soul concept, with the Air Propulsion and Retardation Installation Line, or A.P.R.I.L., will be available shortly. Pricing will be revealed closer to the release date.

  20. - New Kia Soul to feature two gasoline engines and one diesel engine - Kia Soul production model will appeal to the 'young-at-heart' - World premiere of new Kia Soul to be held at Paris Show on 2 October (SEOUL) July 16, 2008 -- Kia Motors Corporation has confirmed that its all-new production model, the Kia Soul, will be marketed globally with a choice of three highly efficient engines (depending on individual markets), when it goes on sale in early 2009. The most powerful engine will be a 2-litre gasoline unit. A smaller capacity 1.6-litre gasoline engine will be offered in most countries, alongside a 1.6-litre diesel engine featuring a VGT (variable geometry turbocharger). Both the 1.6-litre, four cylinder, 16-valve DOHC power units are based closely on engines fitted to the hugely successful, European-built, Kia cee'd. Kia has also confirmed that the new model, which will be available exclusively as a five-door hatchback with front-wheel drive, will have an overall length of 4,105 mm, and a 2,550 mm wheelbase. Height will be 1,610 mm and width 1,785mm - excluding door mirrors. To be manufactured in Korea from November 2008 for overseas markets, the Kia Soul will defy conventions and appeal especially to the young and the young-at-heart - whatever their age. Kia Soul is not a replacement for an existing vehicle and is destined to play a unique role within Kia's global product line-up. Kia Soul will provide a creative platform for buyers to individualise and match their car to their own personality. The World Premiere of the Kia Soul will be celebrated on 2 October 2008 at the Paris Motor Show. The exciting new Kia model is scheduled to go on sale in Europe during February 2009, with sales in the USA and remaining overseas markets beginning in April 2009.

I read from somewhere and would like to share. Likewise, pls share your serious view on this. Mr. A went to Cheena and unfortunately met a chain-collision accident involving 3 cars. He remain unconscious. 1 week later, he is able to react to people's calling Mr. A's name by moving his finger and blink his eyes as requested. However, he's still unable to talk. After 2 months' passed, no improvement still. do you believe this involved soul 魂魄? I shared this story with my brother, and he said he saw a documentary before regards to 魂魄, if either the 魂 or the 魄 left our body(it may due to severe shock, hard knock or extreme gravity pressure), a human will not be able to recognise anyone or speak. What's your view on this?
