Talking about battery, I realized those dry cell batteries these days lifespan getting shorter and don't last as long as before. It seems like I'm changing battery like once a year. Recently, the AD advised me that the battery voltage low already, time to change a new one. Wonder should I switch to those need to top-up battery liquid type? Heard from friends that they tend to laster longer. So whats your experience with car battery these days? Regards

OK folks I dun usually watch korean drama but I find this plot quite amazing. It's about the story of a girl who has a special ability to see the lifespan of everyone including herself. So she knows how long more u have to live right up till the last seconds. In the drama, she only has 100+ days left to live. It's just been released in Korea on 21st May 2018. I find it interesting because if u have such an ability, what would u do? Try to play God? What would u do if you see the stranger right next to u with 1 min of her life left? Hi, as a newbie car owner, safety and dollar saving is my top priority. my current ride is 3yrs 2 mths, with mileage of 16k. tyres is made in 02/06, size 175/50/15 to my eyes, tyres seems fine, did a check with the mech. He too feels fine. only can see that i do some hard cornering at times. tyres yet to rotate. i understand and google a little, it seems there's no ground rules of tyres lifespan. knowing, over time, tyres will harden and become a hazard. my mthly regime of tyres maintaintence was to check they are proper balanced. 220 in front, 200 at rear as what the chasis stated. welcome views, thank you

i ask around some mech but seems there is 2 schools of thoughts regarding how to prolong compressor lifespan: 1. set thermostat to coldest, so that the compressor will keep running because if set to middle/lower, the compressor will shut on/off/on/off repeatedly which will shorten the lifespan of the compressor. 2. set thermostat to middle/lower, so that the compressor will cut off earlier, and the compressor will not need to work so hard continously to generate "freezing" air. anyone can comment?

What is the lifespan of automotive belt? There is only one ribbed-belt in my car that drives the generator/starter. Mileage is abt 75K now. Mechanic said no need to replace yet and it will last very long, or until you see cracks when you bend the belt. Is this true?

Hi there, I have installed an aftermarket coilover for my ride and has been using it for about 3-4 years. If I am to continue driving my car for another 3-4 years, do I need to replace the coilover? Any expert here care to advise? Thanks!

Hi All, Just curious, does solar films has a lifespan? For example, Solar Film A when advertised having ultraviolet rejection 95%, infrared rejection 80%, etc... Will the rejection rate deteriorate after some years? Also, would the visible light transmission reading changes as years goes by? Will the sun cause it to lighten or darken over a few years? I hear car glasses when new got a tint, but the sunlight will cause it to become clearer. But opposite is happening to glasses on headlight, over time it became yellowish. How is the duarability of metallic base solar films compare to ceramic base solar films? Lastly, those whom installed solar films, do you request the installer to prove to you the ultraviolet and infrared rejection readings after installed on your car? For me I didn't, I just accept what was stated in their advertisement. But I wonder how accurate the advertised readings is as compared to actual?

Room's blower unit just kapoot after 9 yrs. Compressor is running but blower unit is not, was told circuit board and motor has decided to call it quits, it was rattling badly prior to that. As its an EOL unit, replacement is not available and I will have to purchase a new set. Appreciate it if the bros & sis here could recommend some brands, is it true that new piping is required for models with a four tick energy efficient rating? Sleeping with mosquito coil and fan tonight, inner tights will definitely be wet and sticky. Thanks.

Being a 1st time owner, care to share the lifespan of yr notebooks (past and present) before stuff like motherboard gives way. Doing this poll to determine whether worth to settle for desktop or notebook. My sister's desktop can't last beyond 2yrs whereas mine OEM desktop up the lorry during 2nd yr and getting replacement MB was such a hassle. Now, she is considering between desktop and notebook. I told her that my notebook last longer than the desktop but showing signs of dying as well. So now checking lifespan of notebook. Whether it pays to settle for established brand or not. The results will also comes in handy when my desktop and notebook's lifespan are up. TIA

Was having a chit-chat session with a couple of friends over lunch.. the topic drifted to our career lifespan in SG. One guy pointed out.. look around us.. where are those IT people (management/engineers) who are 50yr and above? We don't see any other than the very few (can count by fingers) who made it to very senior management.. Seems bleak.. guys.. what's your take on this? The rest of those seniors..all gone to sell insurance or what?

1. A lifespan of a brake disc is usually very long, some used it till 10 good years. 2. Anyone experienced premature wear and tear of their brake disc? Are brake disc the larger the better, I was told the bigger the faster the heat can be dispered. Any comments? Thank you. Regards,

Hi, anyone here knows how to identify if the tire is near the end of it's lifespan? Like any further will burst kinda thingy? Recently saw some burst tires on the road kinda make me worried. I'm using 2nd hand tires, so I don't know how long was the tires used before. Still got plenty of threading though. Michael

Life of battery b4 fail (months) 3. any indications,irregularities or symptom b4 fail. 4. new battery brand and cost ------------------------------------- eg: 1. Spotty /Fabia 19 months b4 fail morning difficult to start, afternoon fail. No other indication b4 new battery unknown / cost $145 2.
