  1. Just to check as I encounter my car air-con during the hot day especially, my temperature is set to nearly maximum coldness then sometimes, can feel the cold air disappear cos just blow out normal air then after a while, the cold air returns again. I bring my car to let my mechanic check, he told me the clutch for the air-con compressor having bigger gap than before which causes such symptom so he suggested me to change the whole air-con compressor which causes me $550. Is there a way to replace only the clutch instead of the whole air-con compressor? Can anyone enlighten me on that, thanks!
  2. Hi.....any workshop in JB that is good in AC service/repair? Need to change new compressor and coil... TQVM
  3. Hi All, I would like to get an advice from bro for my case below. This morning, I went to service my car (Toyota Axio) , to check aircon intermittent cooling and normal servicing. But W/S told me I need to change aircon compressor and all 4 shock absorbers (right side at rear is leaking) and lower arm front. Total bill was S$2400.00 (They round it for me). Did I get ripped off by W/S or is the price around there? I have attached the invoice for reference. If I got ripped off, can recommend any good W/S? Thanks in advance.
  4. Mechanic says my ride aircon compressor giving out noise liao... its already 7yrs old ride. Any avante driver here change their aircon compressor before? How much does it cost and which aircon servicing shop should I go ? Need to change or just change oil? since only 3 more years to drive...

  8. Hi all. My car is coming to 5yrs old and the AC is getting noisy when it kicks in, I can also feel the vibration. AC is still blowing cold air and I change the filter every year. Was recommended to change/add aircon oil. AC system uses oil? Will the oil help? The workshop wants to charge $87 renewing aircon oil.
  9. Yes. I did it !!! I ownself repair my car aircon - Change Evaporator (Cooling Coil) ($130), Discharge Hose ($45) and Compressor ($230). I bought new tools like Manifold Gauge, Quick Release Connector and 1/2" ACME Valve - $50, Vacuum Pump - $130. It take about 1.5 day to replace the Cooling Coil and 4 hours to replace the Compressor and Discharge Hose. Yes, you can buy these small canister and ownself fill up. But, how much to fill up ? For my case, my car need 680g of 134a - 2 cans. Kaltech Engineering & Refrigeration Pte Ltd 9 Tuas Link 1 Singapore 638587 www.kaltech.com.sg - They sell 340g 12oz canister to 13.6kg cylinder to 20000 kg 134a Refrigerant. As for Manifold Gauge Set - www.aliexpress.com Compressor - www.aliexpress.com For Original KIA part - Buy Korea @ www.koraps.com The repair is quite extreme and very labour intensive. I don't recommend you do it, if you never even ownself change a serpentine belt before. I even added a tracer oil so the next time it breakdown (touchwood) I can trace the leak with a UV light.

  11. My lau pok car having some weird issue again, recently I noticed the car starts to vibrates quite badly. But this only happen when the air con compressor kicks in. The vibration seems worse when the car is in the down slope position than in horizontal position. What could be the main issue here?

  13. WTB: Daihatsu YRV compressor r u scrapping soon? would like to swop with you within the next few days. you will then have no compressor / aircon until u scrap, but can get a few hundred $ out of the old compressor. please contact my garage at " nine eight nine five six three six seven " to discuss price and review condition before the swop, thanks !
  14. i ask around some mech but seems there is 2 schools of thoughts regarding how to prolong compressor lifespan: 1. set thermostat to coldest, so that the compressor will keep running because if set to middle/lower, the compressor will shut on/off/on/off repeatedly which will shorten the lifespan of the compressor. 2. set thermostat to middle/lower, so that the compressor will cut off earlier, and the compressor will not need to work so hard continously to generate "freezing" air. anyone can comment?
  15. Hi guys, I have the following problem. Anyone happen to be able advise? I'm driving a 06 colt plus. Recently changed aircon coil and compressor. After that, noticed that my fan (only 1 fan in colt) relay clicks on/off loudly when the compressor cuts in/out. The weird thing is, my fan is already on whenever the aircon is on. I had gone back to the workshop and they told me its like that. Before this, I had never heard the fan relay click so loudly and feequently. Has any bros encountered this? is it possible that there's a wiring problem?
  16. Sorry the brand is AUTOCOS, my mistake on the title (--______--)II Hi any bro here own this portable air compressor? Can share your experience? 17. Hi, did a search and can't seem to find anything on it. I am looking for a portable Air compressor to pump my tires. Does anyone has one to recommend? Would appreciate if you could list the brand name, price n location of where you brought it. is it practical to use such portable compressor or is it better to go queue up at Petrol kiosk to pump? (Quite sick of going to kiosk to pump air cos a) at times have to queue up for quite long b) some of the kiosk pump are faulty) Thank you.
  18. My car has been emitting constant 'chiak chiak' sound from the engine bay since about 3 weeks ago, especially in morning cold start. Previously was very quiet that was why I chose this car. Very irritating and it got louder when aircon is turned on, and when I accelerate the car. You can hear a distinctive booming sound coming from the aircon filter area under dashboard. Last few days cannot tahan so sent it for checking. The SE subsequently informed the aircon compressor assembly was replaced. The best part was that it was FOC since it is still under 3 years! I was very happy as the warranty would have expired in 3 months time and I would have to cough up the $1k bill. I am now able to enjoy peace and quiet in my car once again. This incident reinforced my positive vibes about Kia, will definitely consider the brand again when it comes to changing car later on. The car is not perfect and the few times when there are with minor issues, the SEs in different centers have been accommodating though not every time obliged of course. Definitely not much different or losing to the Nissan service quality. BTW, my car is latest Kia Carens (non-Elite version).
  19. If over fill engine oil.. is there a way to drain some of it out? if aircon compressor is becoming weak? is replacing with a new one the only option?
  20. Hi ...... Anyone using 12V mini air compressor to inflate tyre, instead of going to petrol station to inflate. Is it advisable?
  21. Hi fellow bros, Do anyone have any advises on the above topic? Juz changed my air con compressor recently and found out that my fuel consumption is nw higher. Please advise.
  22. Dear bros, Does anyone of u know of any workshop who can repair air con for ford transit connect (Van)? The van air con has not been working well as it is cool when its on the move n there's no cold air when is stationery. Further checks wif agent n wat they feedback is compressor is not working fine. so does any bros here haf any idea if there's any other workshop who can repair air con for ford transit connect? Thanks
  23. Mine was changed about a year ago. But was told recently that the compressor got no power, so when the car is idling, the air will not be cold.\ To me, the air is cold enough during normal circumstances like normal weather etc. But then the weather recently is so hot that most of the time I will perspire in the car unless I turn the aircon to the max (even then I may still perspire). Is there any other more powerful compressor (if got new one even better) which we can use for our starlet? or is there anything I can do to my current compressor? like flushing or servicing or whatever? any advice?
  24. I notice that my car aircon compressor r those that does not auto kick in/out... it is "on" all the time as long as I turn the on the A/C, no matter at what temperature set. when I increase the temp., the compressor does not stop working but only heat from the engine allows to enter the interior fan coil in order to set the cabin temperature. For such car with such tech., how long can the compressor last if it keeps working and how fuel efficiency it is?
