The 1,200-ha facility, an area more than three times the size of Sentosa island, will be built in the Strait of Johor facing Tuas. The project, in the Johor Baru port waters, is billed as the “world’s biggest” ship-to-ship (STS) transfer facility. It will be able to accommodate up to 30 vessels at one time. Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad witnessed the project’s signing ceremony on Tuesday (April 2) in Putrajaya, involving Malaysian maritime services company KA Petra and Hong Kong-based port operator Hutchison Ports. KA Petra on its website says ship-to-ship transfer involves “cargo transfer operations between 2 seagoing vessels, either while stationary or underway.” The new hub will have man-made “dolphin” mooring structures to berth vessels without the need for piers or docks, and at lower costs for shippers. Hutchison Ports, which will take a 30 per cent stake in the project, is among the biggest port operators in the world and owns a stake in Port Klang. Tun Mahathir, asked at a news conference later, said the project won’t encroach into Singapore waters. There were problems we had when Singapore said we are encroaching. We are not encroaching. We are in our waters and I think this is public knowledge,” he told a news conference after the signing ceremony. PM 'puzzled' why TMJ unaware of upcoming JB ship-to-ship hub “So if people don’t know, well I don’t have to go around telling people one by one, do you know or not, do you know or not,” he said. “Singapore knows about this, they had contested (and) we had showed them that this is in Malaysian waters, not in Singapore waters,” he added. The question about possible encroachment into Singapore waters was asked as Singapore and Malaysia are involved in a maritime dispute in the Strait of Johor, sparked by Malaysia’s decision to extend the Johor Baru port limits last Oct 25. On Dec 6 last year, Singapore also extended its port limits to the full extent of its territorial waters. The tense stand-off saw a promised turnaround in March, when both countries agreed to jointly suspend their overlapping port claims as a step to begin talks to delimit the maritime boundary in the area. But Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said on Monday (April 1) that two Malaysian government vessels remain anchored in disputed waters off Tuas, a fortnight after Singapore and Putrajaya jointly agreed to suspend the overlapping port claims.

It was a nice trip to Kota Tinggi. As discussed with Pisces, we intend to do another trip to Port Dickson, tentatively first week of november. Anyone has been there before? I will be checking the type of hotel/chalet there. What are the activities we can do there? We welcome mcfers to join us for this trip.

My kids exams will finish early, so I was thinking of popping over to Port Dickson for a 2D1N trip. http://www.legendiwh.com.my/location.htm I was recommended the pool villa at the above resort, and as usual, there's a fair mix of "fabulous" and "won't go back again" reviews. Anyway, I'm not about to be detracted. 3 hours in and 3 hours back, but if I go early, I'll have the better part of 2 days for loafing at the private pool and enjoying the facilities. Any f/r on this resort?

I heard that porting your cylinder heads can increase performance - meaning to slightly deepen the cylinder heads and smoothen out all the factory machine marks during the manufacturing process. The only hand ported cars are Integra Type R and European sports cars like Ferrari. I read that it's relatively simple if you know how to remove the engine parts and you can do it yourself if have the tools, but usually would need bead blasting first as a preparation step. My question is - where can I get this done for good and cheap in sg?

I just bought an Asus laptop today and was surprised to find that the 2 USB (2.0) ports located on the right side of the laptop can't be fitted with any USB devices such as mouse, printer, camera etc. There is however no problem with the 1 USB (3.0) port on the left side of the laptop. Would appreciate if any forummers can help me on this. Are the two (2.0) ports locked or something? Or is there more to it? Haven't come across anything like that. Thanks lots!

The injured are said to have been sent to the National University Hospital and Alexandra Hospital. A caller to the MediaCorp hotline, Mr Eric Tan, said he learnt from a friend who works at the shipyard that there are at least 50 casualties. Details of the incident are not available yet. - CNA/xq

Ok my car has a clarion double din head unit with 6CD changer that can play mp3s. Is it possible to retrofit a port so that the mp3s can be from a thumb drive instead of CD? Anyone done it before? Hi bros, planning a trip up to P.D. IWH this end of October 28th to 30th for 2 nights. Relac relac trip. First time driving up north so wondering if any experienced bros can guide a newbie or interested in going around those dates too? Understand it's around 300km so would take 3-5 hours depending on breaks and jams. Would be travelling at speed limit to avoid unplesant encounters. Also concerned about food as research mostly states that availibility of restaurants and eateries around there are a drive away and limited room service hours. So should I stock up snacks and tidbits along the way? For the IWH, any advice for preference? Understand that some of the 'private' pools are facing each other so are there certain rooms where the pool is enclosed or open but private? Thanks in advance for any advice given. Cheers! -
