  1. I find taiwanese car products to be inferior or a knock off of something established. My friend has a 4 Piston D1 Spec brake caliper. He recently got ripped off the the local dealer of D1 Spec products when he had to change his brake pads. 300 bucks for supposedly good quality D1 Spec pads. That's just nonsense. I decided to get him to remove the brake pads and get it measured. I searched the internet high and low for pads that would meet those measurements. Turns out that you can use brake pads meant for Brembo Calipers. You can easily get original brembo pads for that application for less than 100 sgd if you order it online. Heck you can even get dixcel pads for around 170 sgd if you prefer that brand. Don't believe that you cannot use anything other than D1 Spec Brake pads in a D1 Spec Brake Caliper. Most of these taiwanese brake companies copy the design from other established brake companies. If you own a D1 Spec BBK, please note that you have options when it comes to what brake pads. You just need to measure your existing brake pads and use the internet to search. The dealer of D1 spec BBK will definitely say you cannot use anything other than their pad so that they can hold you ransom. But f**k them!

  3. I advocate Taxi/PHV should be regulated to have equipped with a minimum in-car safety standard. To me, it is their very basic social responsibility to make sure the car is as safe as possible. As public transport, shouldn't they have responsibility to the safety for their passengers? Everytime a taxi/PHV involved in an accident, the driver is the only one responsible. Shouldn't the Taxi/PHV rental companies have responsibility? Full spec SRS is the most basic one. Why they are not equipped with full SRS specs? Are they really not affordable with Singapore standard of living? Most passengers sit at the back seat. Curtain airbags could have saved life and avoid serious injuries, including the Commonwealth Avenue West accident at 19 Apr 2018, should the taxi was equipped with curtain airbag. (To the victim family, Sorry to bring up this painful lost. My thought is with the young lady. My intention is to do something to prevent similar incident in future.)
  4. Hi, would like to know if there is any glass (spectator ) for person who have perfect eyesight? Just want to protect the eyes from the glaring effect from the prolong long hours on laptop / desktop. Your feedback opionion is appreciated.
  5. As topic, any one uses these tires, & have any feedback, good/bad. Also any one know where to get this at best rates. Spec of Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec Its classified under Extreme Performance Summer tires. It will be serve as replacement for my discontinued Bridegestone RE010R. My friend actually recommended me Bridgestone RE11, but I think its more expensive (branding & Yen vs SGP) but not sure if its necessary better.

  7. I just bought a 2nd hand VSD IV from someone so would like to show you all what you are paying for actually.... I think the retail price is ~$180. Bought it for $100. Considered a pretty decent deal. Open up the unit and I was like...... wtf........ The circuit board is much smaller than the casing and its held by silicone glue and 4 stands. Its not even secured by screws on anything.... the bare circuit board shows a very similar layout of a DC-DC converter. The controller is sanded so I don't know the markings. The 2 black chips are just a MOSFET and a diode. Large silver container is a capacitor. 4 wires instead of 3 for most standard Voltage boosters. Nothing much. Just that it uses power from the battery (or a +ve) point instead of the from the power going to the coil. Pretty redundant. Only saving grace is that the soldering looks much better than the imperial concept voltage booster and there is a module which you can see the voltage and adjust. So whats so good about it? Well, it works as it should. Boosting up to 18V to the coil. Higher primary voltage = higher secondary voltage. Means more power and stronger spark. Bad thing? Its damm expensive for something thats so cheap to make and its not even rocket science. Nothing to research about as DC-DC converters have been around for decades.

  9. And yes, its confirmed that there will not be any Horsepower gain, other than a higher gear boost controller it costs 15,750,000 yen or $160k USD "Sourced from wiki" The GT-R SpecV is powered by the standard twin-turbo 3,799 cc (3.8 L; 231.8 cu in) V6 with no increase in horsepower, but a new high gear boost controller that temporarily increases the air induction should deliver more torque in mid to high-range revs. Other mechanical changes include a titanium-coated exhaust, reworked suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, and 20-inch NISMO wheels. Overall weight is decreased by 132 lb (60 kg) over the standard GT-R. TOKYO (Jan. 8, 2009)

  14. More info @ http://www.dunloptires.com/catalog/direzza...Z1StarSpec.html AKRON, Ohio -- Fresh off the starting line, Dunlop's Direzza Sport Z1 ultra-performance tire already has a star next to its name in 2008. A star has always implied something special, and on the new Direzza Sport Z1 "Star Spec" summer tire, the star designation carries prestigious cachet. For example, "Star Spec" helps provide faster lap times from the start and "consistent grip on ensuing laps" in sanctioned events, according to Matt Neidert, performance tire brand manager for Dunlop in North America. The new tire features the "Star Spec" tread compound, which helps a performance car's initial dry grip during sanctioned amateur driving events, such as autocross and high-performance track-events hosted by regional car clubs. The new Direzza Sport Z1 "Star Spec" is available now, qualifying it for use in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) national events. According to section 13.3 of the 2008 SCCA SOLO rules, tires must be readily available by April 30 to qualify. The "Star Spec" predecessor won SCCA's hotly contested Street Touring Ultra class at the San Diego National Tour on Sunday. Drivers Thomas Kenna and Richard Jung set the fastest overall times for street tires with a first and fourth place. The Southern California duo raced on full treads, while competitors used shaved tires. "'Star Spec' means impressive dry grip out of the gate. Driving enthusiasts won't have to wait for their tires to 'come in' at the beginning of an event, helping to provide an edge over the field. This is also great news for owners of smaller vehicles, who sometimes struggle to work their tires up to the point of peak grip," Neidert said. Direzza Sport Z1 "Star Spec" is a DOT-approved summer performance tire for hard-core driving enthusiasts and car-club members. The tire helps deliver superb dry traction and handling at regional car-club events like track days, driving schools, and autocross. A high-response directional tread pattern with circumferential grooves helps create a consistent contact patch on the pavement for a smooth feel and seamless transition. An "optimal mold shape" helps provide a consistent footprint shape and uniform pressure distribution across the footprint for enhanced cornering, he said. The tire also features JointLess Band technology to help enable smooth performance at highway speeds, he added. Direzza Sport Z1 "Star Spec," available in 20 sizes with rim diameters from 15 to 18 inches, replaces the Direzza Sport Z1, which was introduced in August 2007. Source: Dunlop Tires

  16. Click on link for more info & Pics. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/17/2008-to...erimental-spec/ One of the other concepts that graced Mugen's stand in Japan at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon was the Civic Type-RR, which in addition to the obvious replacement of the entire front clip with carbon fiber pieces, also includes a K20A engine that's been bored out to 2157 cc to create a more tractable powerband and an even higher redline. 260 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque is sent to the six-speed gearbox and down to the front wheels through a LSD. Naturally, the brakes and suspension have been upgraded to handle the extra grunt, while carbon fiber was used inside to beef up the structure. Mugen also added a system dubbed I-TCMS, or Intellligent Tire Condition Monitoring, which keeps tabs on the tire's air pressure and temperature. The dash mounted instrument cluster might be a big impediment to forward visibility, but we're sure it's nothing compared to the price.
  17. Anybody knows where can I buy this product and any comments from users. Any input is very much appreciated.
