  1. I am sure that there are few greater pleasures in this world than KBBQ. Don't get me wrong, the Koreans produce plenty of high-quality stuff: The world of battery technology, electronics, cosmetics, and er, their K-pop groups (I guess) all speak to the dizzying ambitions of the great nation. But I think many will agree that there is likewise something ephemeral in the pleasure of being able to cook and stuff your face for $24.99 an hour. Perhaps its that fact that you sit cossetted in the knowledge that you got a decent deal anyhow, and is thus immune from buyer's remorse once you're full, or maybe it's the fact that for the next hour, you are empowered over your own gluttony, free at will to toe that sublime division between excess and restrain. Whatever it may be, if you, as I myself often do, find yourself in need of cheap transportation to hop from restaurant to restaurant, Ssangyong has the perfect solution for you. Ssangyong needs the facelifted Tivoli to do well. On the international front, Dacia has already firmly established itself as the go-to frills-free brand, and Nissan's all new Juke is once again raring at the heels of the compact crossover segment. But more importantly, think of this facelift as the initial assault, a market acid test if you will, before Ssangyong's more expensive offerings such as the Korando makes it to our shores. So, the headlines first: The new Tivoli comes into the competitive and crowded segment with a new, 161bhp turbocharged four-cylinder unit hot enough to fire up any BBQ joint. Combined with its 260Nm torque output, the Tivoli will be able to see off what will be local close-rivals the Honda HR-V and Toyota C-HR. Sweet. But better still, the facelifted car also now sports refreshed head lights and integrated fog lamps which manage to lift the look of the entire car into something that is do I dare say, handsome? (Edit: Those that have seen how I dress on our parent site best cast doubts on my aesthetic judgement!) Step inside and you will find space aplenty even for four with pork-bellied stomachs. Opt for the deluxe spec car and you also find a new central 8.0-inch infotainment display that comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility. Abundant use of gloss black in the interior means you will struggle to keep contact points clean from your greasy fingers, but do will to lift the perceived quality of the entire cabin, which is, once again, pretty sweet, especially considering that you're still looking at a $109,888 car (price as of press time). I cover all this in the full review here. But since there is less nannying when it comes to blog posts I shall take the opportunity to speak more freely here. The car needs polishing. To drive at speed, the car makes its high kerb weight and centre of gravity felt, running wide far earlier than you would expect. Quick lane change manoeuvres are met with that sickening sensation that your bum is no longer travelling in the direction your arms have intended, and the suspension has no qualms about constantly making itself heard over bumps. That new engine may be a riot, but it sure as hell sounds like one when climbing into the rev range. Which is all a damm shame. Like finding out your favorite haunt no longer serves fresh entrees. I wanted the Tivoli to do well, mostly because for a while there it seemed like they were starting the make the right noises here and here, and diversity is the spice of life right? Still, its important to remember that this is only a facelifted model. Come 2020, we dig into the meat proper and see the firm's latest efforts. I'm already hungry for more.

  8. From www.kia-world.net, Kia Rio receives a facelift for the 2010 model year. Styling updates bring the car a whole new front fascia design and enhancements made to the interior. After a very long wait, we finally get the very first batch of images of the 2010 Kia Rio facelift. Called Kia Pride in South Korea, the current Rio has been on market since 2005, and it has been one of the top five selling Kia cars globally. Now, roughly four years after its introduction, the B-segment Rio receives a much needed facelift. The 2010 Kia Rio gains a host of changes and upgrades outside and inside. The sheet metal updates up front include a completely redesigned front fascia with different front bumper and signature grille. The combination of a redesigned front bumper, which incorporates larger air-intake and updated fog-lights, and Kia’s new H-shaped signature grille give Rio more character and more distinctive exterior look. The whole exterior set up now looks much more attractive and a lot closer to the latest Kia offerings. The 2010 Kia Rio reminds us of 2010 Kia cee’d, which has also been announced to receive a mid-life styling change for the new model year. As for the interior, the Rio facelift packs a subtly revised center stack with new controls and upgraded audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. It also features new steering-wheel design and slightly updated gauges on the instrument panel. Personally, I disagree with the Kia Rio getting more stylish. One noticeable change is that those black mouldings at the sides of the car has been changed to body-coloured ones which somehow spoil the look of the car as it looks much more plain now. The old car has black mouldings, yes, but the mouldings are nicely curved and help to give the car a contemporary look. Still, its much better looking than the new Verna Transform-ed (into a freak). Blueteeth definitely wont make it to Singapore, but still, with high-spec (esp. ABS) and a price advantage, the new Rio should do well here in Singapore.
  9. From Paul Tan's Automotive News: The model that we know as the Hyundai Accent has been updated in Korea and called the Hyundai Verna Transform, a naming scheme that seems to echo the Sonata facelift which was also called a Sonata Transform. Most of the equipment and engines remain the same and the only other change from the exterior looks seem to be an Eco indicator on the instrumentation panel which lets you know when you are driving economically, a revised dash design and blue backlighting for the dashboard instead of green. Those stuff they put on the grille don
  10. The Honda Civic is one of the world's top selling cars and the automaker will look to embrace that position further by launching the facelifted 2009 model year version featuring a number of modifications both inside and out. "The Civic lineup uniquely embraces traditional gasoline, hybrid, high performance and natural gas technologies like no other vehicle in the world," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The exterior styling enhancements and newly-available features help strengthen Civic's position as one of the best-selling vehicles in a market that's embracing small cars more than ever." Exterior styling receives some extremely subtle changes which leaves the over conservative theme in tact. The front bumper has been redesigned to incorporate extra air intakes on the side areas, the headlights and tail-lights benefit from new color combinations that feature clear turn indicator lenses with amber bulbs. There are also new alloy wheels for the EX, Civic EX-L and Civic Si models whilst the Si model gets a set of fog lamps. Moving on to the interior we find very little has changed other than a few minor equipment changes in the standard packages. The engine and transmission options have also been left untouched.

  14. Car to be launched locally after the Lunar New Year Eager drivers waiting to get their hands on the facelifted Kia Cerato do not have long to wait. The car will be launched locally next month. Besides sporting a new face, the car is expected to be powered by a significantly more powerful 1.6-litre engine producing 122bhp, making it 14bhp more powerful than the current 1.6-litre Toyota Corolla. As per the current version, both hatchback and sedan variants of the car will be available with either 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual gearboxes though prices are yet to be confirmed. Already a competitively priced sedan sporting features such as a driver

  19. Hi all, Some updates for those who are eyeing on the facelifted Skoda Superb. The production for right-hand drive facelifted Superbs will commence on 12th August 2006. From the start of the production cycle to the time the cars reach Singapore, it will take typically 12 to 14 weeks. Hence the facelifted Superbs (most likely in Classic trim) are expected to reach our shores by end November. To have a better gauge of the preferences for the interior colour combination, please participate in the polls. Hopefully CA will be able to take the findings of the poll into consideration when the indent for the new shipment is made. For an illustration of the 2 options, please view the following URL: 1.
