The police said the arrests were made on Aug 14 in Dongcheng, Beijing, reports The Straits Times Online. They said they arrested, among others, a 32-year-old Hong Kong actor surnamed Chan, a 23-year-old Taiwanese actor surnamed Ko, and a 36-year-old Beijing personal assistant surnamed Sun. Both Chan and Ko tested positive for marijuana and confessed to taking it, the police said. Later, the police found more than 100g of marijuana in Chan’s residence and seized it. A 33-year-old unemployed Beijing man was arrested the next day on suspicion of selling drugs to Chan, the report said. Apple Daily said Chan was suspected of harbouring drug users, an offence which carries a penalty of up to three years in jail. Earlier in the evening, Ko’s agent Angie Chai confirmed his drug arrest, and said he would be detained for 14 days. In a press release issued at 8pm, she said she had just got a call from the Chinese police at 6.30pm, informing her that Ko would be detained for 14 days and that immediate family would soon be allowed to visit him. She wrote: “We only know the fact that Kai Ko made a mistake, but we don’t know the details.” She said she “nearly collapsed” when she got the call. She apologised to the public on his behalf, saying her company had neglected his “life education”. She said she had been anxious since Sunday, when she started hearing rumours about the arrest from her friends in Beijing but did not know how to verify the rumours. Accompanied by a lawyer, she went to a detention centre in Beijing in the afternoon. The computers there did not have any information on Ko, and she left with a “glimmer of hope” that the rumours were false, she said. She had not been able to believe the rumours, she said, because her company had always told actors not to touch drugs and Ko had told her he promised his mother to stay clean. Ko shot to stardom with the 2011 film You Are The Apple. On Weibo, his co-star Michelle Chen posted “what a fool”, as well as a crying face.|

Maj-Gen (NS) Chan said he received bursaries from the government and charitable organisations while in primary school. His new portfolio is a way for him to give back to the system, he said. Speaking to Channel NewsAsia after his usual morning walk in Commonwealth on Friday, he said he expects Singapore's low fertility rate and social mobility issues to continue to be important for MCYS and where it will need to work with other ministries. Maj-Gen (NS) Chan said his focus now is to listen to all stakeholders before implementing policies. ".....listen carefully to what people have to say, listen to what people feel are the challenges, then together with the stakeholders, we can develop a good plan to bring Singapore forward and help people that really need help," he said. Maj-Gen (NS) Chan added that his experience in the army will come in handy, especially when engaging the youth. "The unique thing about the Singapore army is that, being a conscript army, we take in people from all walks of life. So the kind of challenges that young people face from all walks of life will be reflected in the army. The army is, in a sense, a microcosm of the kind of challenges in society," he said. Maj-Gen (NS) Chan said that today's youth yearn for a different way of engagement. Using an analogy, he said it is like their preference for pizza joints that allow people to make their own pizzas - from making the dough to adding the ingredients to cooking it - as opposed to going for fixed choices from a menu in restaurants. ".....there's a sense of participation, never mind the taste....You might argue that the taste is better or not so good compared to the original menu that the owner has given you in the original choice," he said. "But (in) the process of partaking in policy-making, the process of having discussed the issues, you find that ownership. I read today's news paper-- TODAY. On page 24 got one article written by Mr. Roy Chan. The title is "Saturday ERP 'unneccessary'" Very well said! He was saying the extension of the ERP on Saturday into the Suntec City and Marina Square area is unnecessary and ill-timed. From his past 3 years experience driven to these area, there were no problem over the traffic. He also mentioned that the MRT Circle line is not ready yet and many would have no choice but to drive in (something like tat) Thirdly, taxi charges have increased recently as the fule prices have hit record highs and inflaction is taking a toll on common folk. Why is there a need to charge ERP at a place and time where there have not been complains of traffic congestion on Saturdays? Lastly, his message to LTA: Please help those whom you are intending to serve, not add on to their already-heavy burden by taxing their pockets unnecessarily. Thank you Mr. Roy, thanks for speaking up!

any1 here went 2 the travel fair organised by Chan bros in suntec? Read poster,thot its a gd deal..but cant help feeling bit disapointed, when price posted in ad is not reali true.. Say example NZ 6d4n,ad put 1.1k+ (b4 discount),flight date all stated there..but after queuing 4 hours...i realise it cost nearli double(excluding tax) & oso have 2 pay more 4 extra nites in hotel stay coz nex flight is like 14 days later,oso if 1 2 go christchurch,theres no direct flight, have 2 pay $300 more 2 go ther from auckland...haiz sian..queued 4 nothing.. any1 bought any tour packages..?
