  1. Been going there for my non-ICT IPPTs during my last few years with them and I had always placed my valuables in one of the many lockers provided. Now that this Mr Gan had revealed all was not well and that his stuff actually got Ali Ba Ba'ed  Maybe bros going inside camps for IPPTs play safe just bring along 11B can liao [laugh] But the greater issue which was implied is the security issue. Non-working CCTVs in camps? Isolated incident perhaps? [rolleyes] From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...orking-20130326 Wallet, phone go missing in army camp, but CCTV not working Published on Mar 26, 2013 I WENT for my remedial training at Bedok Camp on March 17. I placed my belongings in one of the lockers provided at the ground level. During the break, I went to check on my belongings and found that my wallet and mobile phone had gone missing. I immediately reported the incident to the army personnel at the training centre. I requested to view the closed-circuit television camera recording as my locker was in an area that was under CCTV surveillance. However I was told that the CCTV camera at the ground level was down. I have always thought that military premises are secure, but this incident has made me think otherwise. There should at least be annual checks on CCTV systems in military camps, so that any spoilt cameras can be fixed without delay. Gan Ka Hwee
  2. Is it safe to get an unlocked mobile phone for use in Singapore? The price difference is huge!
  3. Bro, Is it necessary to condition your battery for better performance? Read in a forum that once a month, allow the battery to drain below 20%, charge it up fully to 100% and leave it for 2 hours. But then read in another forum that discharging a Li-ion battery is harmful for the battery.
  4. Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk). Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone!' Is it true. Got it from mail frm friends..Anyone experience b4?
  5. Can fellow bros and sis advise me where I can unlock a SE K550i mobile phone that has a operator lock? A fellow german colleague of mine has a T-Mobile phone but he can't use our local operators SIM card. I understand that this is the german operator lock that prevents my colleague from using other operators line. However, there is a method to unlock the phone. I had tried asking SE, SingTel, and even M1 but all say they can't do it. So I guess there must be a 3rd party shop that does that with a small charge. So I here to wait for all to advise. Thanks.

  10. As title suggests, how to get? I had been with them for more than 10years. Paid bills promptly too. Recently saw a phone I like and thought since never received any voucher from them all these years, sent them an email and asked for 1. Rejected! Under what circumstances do they give vouchers? I had been hearing from friends who are with stinktel and starhub they sent them vouchers automatically. M1.. at least non for me.
  11. Hi folks, Hope to get some advice from you. I am planning to get a DECT phone that comes with a 2.5mm earphone jack. Went to several electronic stores and found that there are several brands available from Panasonic, Uniden, etc. The problem is that these DECT phones come with the 2.5mm jack but not the earphone itself. The sales assistants are also not sure where those earphones can be bought. Then I remember I still have a few of those 2.5mm earphones that came with my old Nokia phones. Can these be used with the DECT phones? I spend quite a bit of time on the phone everyday so I need to use a earpiece to free my hands so that I could work on my PC at the same time. Thanks
  12. hello all, question - is it necessary to install anti-virus on Andriod mobile phone? thanks.

  15. Just get a Bluetooth enabled car HU. Wednesday, May 09, 2012 The China Post/Asia News Network Taiwan drivers to face fines for using electronic devices while driving Car drivers who use hand-held mobile phones or tablet computers while driving will be fined NT$3,000 (S$130), and motorcyclists NT$1,000 in the near future, according to an amendment to a road traffic safety regulation passed by the Legislative Yuan, yesterday. The amendment to the Road Traffic Management and Punishment Code will see drivers using mobile phones, computers or similar devices fined NT$3,000. Those who fumble with such smart gadgets while waiting at red lights are also subject to the code and will be fined similarly, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) Deputy Minister Yeh Kuang-shih said. Under the amendment, those who wish to answer phone calls either need to use headsets or park their vehicles first. While the Legislature cleared the amendment, lawmakers voiced concerns about the new regulation's enforceability. The MOTC replied that its plans to reach a more practical approach, which could include sporadic inspections. Another amendment cleared by the Legislature raised fines for car drivers who race past level crossings from NT$6,000 and NT$12,000 to between NT$15,000 and NT$60,000. The MOTC said the current plan is to pass supplementary amendments by early September, after which the announcement of the implementation date of the amended Road Traffic Code will be up to the Executive Yuan.

  20. My fren was late for his basket ball game.... he ran all the way to the HDB estate basket ball court, tried to dash thru the opening in the fence which surrounds the court..... his is tall, while he half-ran-half-jumped thru the opening/gate, his forehead hit the metal bar across the top of the gate....!!! OMG, he felt something wet up there, used his hand to touch..... all blood... it flowed down his forehead and soon covered his eyes...... by the time he took out his smart phone and tried to call for help, the touch screen was 80% covered with his blood.... he tried frantically to touch-dia for help, but due to the presence of blood, the phone failed to respond... he panic and felt the pains getting strong.... looked around and saw a mother with two kids nearby.... so he ran to her and asked her to call the ambulance with her phone while wondering why she didnt come to his help and instead he had to run to her?? she asked "call what number?"" (he's ok and had few stitches and went home the next day from hospital) 'moral' of the story: 1. maybe have a button phone and not one with touch-screen 2. always tell the 'helper' the ambulance number coz she/he may not know 3. dont run too fast thru gate of basket ball court To HDB: please wrap overhead metal bar with rubber covers

  22. guys and gals, I encountered this recently. I noticed that for past 2 days, my house phone did not ring at all. I suspect something was wrong and called the house phone number with my HP. It did not ring. ****When I used the house phone to call my HP, to my horror, the number has been changed to another number***** I paid all my bills promptly and have been using this singtel line for the past 5years. Called the Singtel customer service and threatened to report this to the police, in case my original line was criminally used. Immediately the service guy came. He spent some time and inspected all the lines. He found the phone cables "joined up" in the next block of flats. What action can I take against singtel? This is the first time I encountered this sort of thing, cannot believe it.
