  1. Hi. I would like to seek some recommendations here for halal food. Cafe style or buffet style both fine. This is because my department regularly organise team lunch/dinner and we are running out of great halal food ideas for our muslim colleagues.Pax size between 4 to 6. Appreciate all suggestions/ideas. If do a quick search google there's too much options and mostly paid ads. Would prefer genuine recommendations. I'll start here with three I personally feel is quite good Landmark Buffet http://www.landmark.com.sg/ T-Bob Corner https://www.tbobscorner.com/ The Dim Sum Place http://www.thedimsumplace.sg/ Thank you everyone for your contributions in advance
  2. Case 1: A's car is down at the workshop n so he started telling us tat he wants his car bk as it is very inconvenient to go drink without his car.... Note: Not the first time he has been telling us tis. Case 2: B went drinking (and driving), then came to meet us for a gathering.... He tells us he is quite seh aldy, cannot join us for long.. Both are friends. Both are like 19, 20 yo.. We have tried telling em abt the consequences aldy but they dun seems to care. What wud u do if u have friends who drink n drive? My stand is if u want to kill urself ok but dun take away the lives of the innocent...
  3. What kind of weekender are you? 1. Go out on Saturdays and stay at home on Sundays. These people will continue to have fun after a 5 day work week and continue their surging energies into the Saturday. They will go out the whole day on Saturdays until late night since Sunday no work (or work half day and go out till night) and then rest the whole day on Sundays at home to prepare for Monday, e.g. sleep, spend time at home with family and hobby. 2. Stay at home on Saturdays and go out at Sundays. These people will rest, sleep, stay at home with family on Saturdays (or go home straight after half day work) and recharge after a hectic work week. They will go out on Sundays for some fun and return home early to get ready for Monday. 3. Work on Saturdays and Sundays or either one. These people have to work full days on weekends. Either whole weekend burnt for work or only have one day of weekend for rest or fun. 4. Go out on both Saturdays and Sundays. These people either have that energies or have only these 2 days for family and friends, so they make full use of it, like driving around exploring places, meet up with their wide circles of friends, movie marathons, etc. Each day is precious to them and they don't waste time at home sleeping. 5. Stay at home on both Saturdays and Sundays. These people are too tired to go anywhere after a hectic work week or want to save money after spending a lot during working days. They rather stay at home to recharge for the new working week, than going out because it is too tiring to go out, too expensive to spend on weekends, too crowded and boring to go anywhere during weekends. They prefer to stay at home, sleep, surf net, play with kids, cook and eat, watch TV, etc
  4. Need to impress my gf and friends with my cooking skills. So buying this tomorrow!
  5. This may well become an ultimate apps for the loanshark .. https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/app-app-lets-borrow-lend-063352031.html When it comes to borrowing or lending money to friends, a common and loudly resounding advice is this: “Don’t do it!” The fastest way to lose a friend is to lend him money. Asking your friend to pay you back too soon makes you a cheapskate (and loanshark) and asking too late risks your friend forgetting about the loan entirely. There is also the possibility that your so-called-friend never intended to pay you back. Either way, it won’t end well. There is even an idiom to summarize this occurrence, “Lend your money and lose your friend”. ulcan Post talked to David Sin, founder of DVG Web Sdn. Bhd. and the brains behind Frenloan, an app that will help you not lose your friend-in-need, even though the thing your friend needs is money. According to its FAQ section, Frenloan is a mobile app created to certify a loan to both lender and borrower. Lend Your Money, Lose Your Friend? “Growing up, I have asked and been asked to either lend or borrow small loans from buddies. Some helped, some didn’t. This social borrowing affects almost all of us,” David answered to the question of what prompted him to develop Frenloan. “When the sum gets bigger we stop lending for the fear we won’t get our money back. Even today I keep hearing of stories of friends ending relationships because one party didn’t want to lend money. This sort of spark off an idea. If we can remove this barrier, people will be more willing to help out. David continued, “Right now, a handshake is all that is given by the borrower. In the event, he decides not to return the money, there is very little recourse to get the money back. Usually it’s the relationship that is the only guarantor to friendly loans.” “So what if we could help generate a digital pdf that has all the details of the friendly loan for both parties to have? This would certainly help friends in real need of money get help from their friends. Friends would be less reluctant to lend since there will be some sort of written understanding between him and his friend.” “For now, I’m working with VLT labs to experiment on this idea. On development, I’m outsourcing the development work to a close associate. Hopefully with traction, I can bring in more talents,” he shared. So far it seems that the Frenloan app has gotten a good start, being awarded a grant by MaGIC and built by the ALPS programme which is run by VLT labs. There are only three people directly involved in Frenloan as of the time of this article. David has high expectations about the app, though he admitted that they are still trying to sort out any teething problems with it. “Right now, we’re starting with basic features like tracking, reminding and generating a digital PDF on the loan. Down the road, we’re hoping to have printable PDF copies.” He hopes that the app can enable people with financial problems to get help from their close friends and family without getting themselves with serious debt issues and losing the loved ones in the process. How You Get Your Money Back The process of getting a loan is simple with the app. All you need to do is enter your phone number, your friend’s email and the amount you’d like to borrow. The pay-back-by date is also a must-enter in order to ensure that you don’t go back on your word and pay your friend the money (or vice versa). The request comes with a Loan Certification, using Frenloan to certify the loan so both parties will have a digital version with the borrower and lender, total amount due and date to be paid in full by. When the date arrives, the tracking feature will alert the borrower so that they honor their word and cough up the cash. Frenloan is currently a free app. We would like to remind our readers that there is no way for Frenloan to help with disputes between parties since it’s a computer generated service. As is with everything that has to do with money, thread carefully. Personally, I think this is a great idea for small cash amounts. In Malaysia it is a common scene for large groups to split the bill while dining together. This app could play a large role in keeping track of who owes who how much. However, when it comes to numbers with a few more zeroes at the back, it’s best to not go down that route.

  8. After working for more than a decade, I have never believe in having real friends especially in the workplace. I have seen too many cases of back stabbing when it comes to guarding one's own ass at the critical moment. Call me pessimistic but keeping myself away from all these useless politics is how I manage to survive throughout my career. Have anybody been lucky enough to really have a friend in the workplace?
  9. 1. they live in their past and whatever glory they had remains as part of their active lfe. They keep on harping abt it and act it again and again, refusing to let go. whether their life was true or not, also unsure, but living that dream helps their ego.... 2. they try and fool others by saying things they have, etc, and act as if they have it, but truth behold, they do not have it, but dream of owning it. For eg, saying they have this and that car, but if u probe deeper, knn, big cannon i know of FEW IN IMH with their imaginary lifestyles....u know any? Shd these ppl remain there?

  18. Thanks to GIC investment, UBS and friends entertain themselves at Singaporean's expense. Source: 'For UBS, austerity hard to balance at Singapore F1 race': [Reuters, 22Sept2011] [p.source] "..UBS's largest shareholder, Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC...": "the board staying at the Ritz-Carlton, Millennia Hotel in Singapore, one of the priciest hotels in one of Asia's most expensive cities." "With a bird's-eye view of the racetrack, a three-night stay at the Ritz this weekend -- complete with Formula One tickets -- costs a minimum of S$6,000 ($4,700) for corporate clients. A receptionist told Reuters a night in one of their top suites goes for as much as S$17,000 before tax." "Traders in Singapore said UBS had also booked a hospitality lounge in the city-state's famous Raffles Hotel for three days, but UBS declined to confirm the booking." "UBS became a global sponsor of Formula One in August last year ... The bank never disclosed the financial terms of the agreement. But marketing experts at the time said it was likely to cost tens of millions of dollars every year. Chief executive Oswald Gruebel, known to be a big motor-racing fan, oversaw the deal, their first major international sponsoring initiative for several years. The bank said in its press release that the tie-up provided 'fascinating opportunities for key client hospitality across the globe'... all corporate hospitality guests will enjoy 'an international five-star menu, extensive wine selection' and 'breathtaking views from our exclusive balconies, terraces and private grandstands'." "UBS's staff and clients are also enjoying F1-related perks: employees in their Singapore office told Reuters they have all been given a free red and black Formula One jacket." Source: - 'For UBS, austerity hard to balance at Singapore F1 race': [Reuters, 22Sept2011] Reference: - 'Rogue trader at UBS racks up S$2.48-billion loss': "UBS shares plummeted by 8 per cent to 10.07 Swiss francs late yesterday in Zurich... The share price plunge is bad news for GIC, which holds a 6.4-per-cent stake in the Swiss bank. Based on the last traded price, GIC is sitting on about 7 billion francs, or S$10 billion, in unrealized losses, even after taking into account the 2 billion francs it received on the coupon before its 2008 investment was converted to shares last year." 19. Sorry if this has been discussed before. so can iOS run adobe flash? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unless we have all slipped into a different dimension it appears that some how Adobe Flash content will start to become available on all iOS devices (without jail-breaking, hacking or any other tomfoolery). Apple's big announcement regarding the coming of Final Cut X is playing second fiddle to Adobe's latest bombshell which is that they will be adding support for HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) to their Flash Media Server. HLS is in fact an Apple developed technology which they have used to stream live or pre-recorded video and audio content to Macs and iOS devices already. Apple have even submitted it to become an internet standard. Adobe's new found support for this technology means companies and content providers who deal either primarily or exclusively in Flash based video content, (and there are a lot of them) will be able to get their content onto the millions of iOS devices already out there with no re-encoding or extra leg work required on their part. Steve Jobs has been quoted bad mouthing Flash for some time now, "We have routinely asked Adobe to show us Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now. We have never seen it." He also speaks of its poor battery performance and it being a poor mobile performer in general. Of course Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen didn't take too kindly to these comments, calling them
  20. True friends are those who are with us when the good things happen. They are pleased by our triumphs. False friends only appear at difficult times, with their sad, supportive faces, when, in fact, our suffering is serving to console them for their miserable lives - Paulo Coelho

  22. Cheerio to the new polictical scene and breakthrough, all bros relax as it is the mid week liao..... share a little joke here to cheer all up.... extract from another webby As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus. Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg She tried to take the step, only to discover that she couldn't. So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the second time attempted the step. Once again, much to her chagrin, she could not raise her leg. With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind to unzip a little more and again was unable to take the step. At this time, a large Texan who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus. She went ballistic and turned to the would-be Samaritan and yelled 'How dare you touch my body! I don't even know who you are!' The Texan smiled and drawled, 'Well, ma'am, normally I would agree with you, but after you unzipped my fly three times, I kinda figured we were friends.' ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  23. im consider relatively young to own a car. so among most of my friends only im driving. got my ride end last year. after i get my ride starting to feel different. when im out to meet my friends i must go fetch them from their house. i drive them there still must pay for parking (and of cause petrol) for example i stay in bishan, my friend ask me accompany her go buy things from tampines. so i must fetch my friend from her house and drive her to tampines and shop when i got no business to do there.. i might sound abit stingy but everything is money.. still must drive back to toa payoh after that.. once awhile nevermind but every time go out must drive them to the place and fetch them back. end of the day who is going to pay for my petrol? parking ? i work so hard for the money but they didnt appreciate me at all at least bother to treat me dinner or buy me movie to let me feel better.. any advise to counter them ? sometimes even more dulan, go their house to fetch them i still must wait for them to get ready instead of coming down straight when i reach.. wtf right!
  24. Hi, I witness a chevy epica knocking into the front left side of your car today 12.30pm at Thomson Medical Centre carpark while he was reversing his car into the lot. I took photo evidence of it as well. Friends of the jazz can also reply me.
  25. I think there's nothing worse than a guy who not only cannot make it...but still wanna be MCP as well. I kenna know a few and honestly, I wonder how they live with themselves. Cannot make it in life...still want to act head of the household...still want their gf/wife to treat them like king. A lot of discussion about how SOME Sg ladies think SOME Sg guys can't make it...and you see Sg guy making sour remarks about those ladies being SPG etc....I think some of such guys are really CMI MCP...the worst kind.
