  3. Hello.. Need some advices. One day, I off my car engine for a while (maybe around ten minutes) to buy some things, and when I push start the engine, it shows a weak cranking and the dashboard lights up showing the battery and the oil warning light. Try second pressing the start switch and the car engine starts. This happens twice and the second time is after a fuel pumping. This car is now 168000km. What can be wrong? The battery and starter switch is checked OK. Thanks for the help
  4. How come the handbrake is not able to 'lock' the rear wheel when the car is moving? Say in an emergency where your foot brake failed, then you pulled up the handbrake, but the car still go forward. Isn't the handbrake a 'back-up brake' to stop the car in such situation? Is it possible to 'tighten' my Jazz handbrake to make the rear brake more efffective to stop the car? How can I go about doing that? Or is the hand brake 'Purely' design to stop a stationary car from rolling off? So no one design the hand brake to be effective to stop a moving car?
  5. If over fill engine oil.. is there a way to drain some of it out? if aircon compressor is becoming weak? is replacing with a new one the only option?
  6. Singapore will "spiral downwards" if it has a weak government, former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew warned recently. Mr Lee, who was Prime Minister from 1959 to 1990, noted that many Singaporeans now desire a 'First World Parliament' and a two-party political system. He made these comments in a recent interview with China Central Television that aired on 6 July. The full transcript was obtained by The Straits Times (ST) on Tuesday. He was quoted as saying, "Their argument is simple. A First World country must have a First World Parliament. A First World Parliament must have a First World opposition. Then you can change dice. I think if ever we go down that road, I'll be very sorry for Singapore." The Workers' Party had campaigned for a First World Parliament during this year's General Election. It won six seats in Parliament, the highest number to be held by an opposition party since Independence. Mr Lee was among those who stepped down from the Cabinet after the GE. On his legacy for the ruling People's Action Party (PAP), Mr Lee said, "I took this country from a very low base in the Third World and in 20 to 40 years gradually transformed it into a First World country, and now it's gone on to a different leadership and new problems crop up because people believe that what has been achieved is always secure. I don't believe that is so." "I believe once you have weak, ineffective government, the whole progress you have made will spiral downwards. But the majority of people believe it is secure for them, so now they have ideas about the West, two-party system." He advised the Chinese government to ignore the US' and Europe's criticism of China's system of government, just as he had done when Singapore's governing system was attacked. The US and Europe believe that "out of contention you get progress", so parties take turns to rule, depending on who temporarily had the upper hand, he was reported as saying. "If I were the Chinese, I would ignore (their criticisms) and carry on with what I have been doing and make progress, maintain peace and stability and discipline and improve the lives of my people." He noted, "I just let the critics say what they like. I do what I know I have to do and I have every day proved to them their criticism does not carry weight, that I am still here, the system is still working and the people are thriving. That's the answer to them." Mr Lee cited similarities between the PAP and Chinese Communist Party, such as cultural backgrounds and working on the basis of pragmatism not dogmatism. But he also pointed out that while China may be interested in how the Singapore government keeps the city clean and has housing for all its citizens, Singapore is much smaller and more vulnerable to outside forces compared to China. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/singaporesc...-041349460.html
  7. Read this Straits Times Forum article. As a concerned parent with children struggling, I find our Singapore Education methods, a few screws missing. The writer said, I quote : Not only the questions very difficult but some were also couched in complex sentences requiring a good grasp of the language, and at the same time guessing correctly what the setter wanted them to do. The smart and above average children got by with the extra help they got at home or at tuition centres.... The parents of average and weak ones would surely be relieved and encouraged if those who set examination papers do so with some thought for the stragglers and strugglers, Ms Wong's argument for a closer affinity between textbooks and examinations deserve the staunch support of all - Parents teachers and administrators alike. Yes I fully agree with the writer. What the teachers teach are basic understanding of the formulae and facts. There is little on Application. Most tests/exams require the child to know how to apply it to solve the equation. Our country wants to create critical thinkers, but its not taught in schools but at homes and tuition centres. Tuition centres and parents deserve more credit for the A*s and not the schools. I may be offensive, I know there will be teachers that go the "extra mile", but few. The teachers are kept busy with completing the syllabus, not by exnsuring the child gets the skill. How sad... The schools and teachers are pressed for time to complete the seriously CRAMPEd syllabus in a year, tell me how can any school teach the child indepth knowledge to handle the exam questions ? NONE. The tuition centres become an indispensible avenue to go to to achieve that, thus our Spore education, viewed from the outside world, looks so brilliant.
  8. Hi forumers, i have encountered this problems, can anyone tell me if this is really battery problem? 1) For the past 1.5 months, i failed to start engine after 1st crank. Only manage to start it during the 2nd time. This happens 1 month ago and today 2) It takes longer time for me to crank the engine. i need to turn key and hold it longer before i start the engine. Even a lorry can crank and start engine faster than me. I need to hold and hear *eeh eeh eeh eeh eeh eeh eeh eeh eeh eeh voom" Normal cranking is "eeh eeh eeh voom" 3) Occasionally i hear weak cranking when starting engine What i have done : - Bring to workshop twice already. They tested battery and alternator. All result shows normal. - I told the workshop mechanic that my long cranking is extremely un-normal. I am not driving a lorry. My ride is 2.5mth old only Shall i bring the car to the workshop the 3rd time? So tired of it already. The battery is still under warranty but seems that its so difficult for them to change a new one for me. I thought of just paying $ for a new one but i am afraid that if its not battery fault, then what is the fault? Can anyone advise me or have encountered this problem for new car?
  9. Hi Bro, Recently encountered weak cranking during cold startup. Initially thought weak battery but workshop tested that it has 100% charge. However, during the cranking, they tested that voltage changed from 12V to 6V. They serviced the starter motor but still the problem persist. Any bro here can advise what could be the real cause and appropriate measures to diagnose? Warm startup is okay only cold startup.
  10. To be honest, this is very, very weak stuff. I think you need at least 2, probably 3 sachets to have similar kick to the ones you find in kopitiam. Accidentally put about 20% too much water in my cup today when trying out this brand. Tasted like coffee flavoured water.

  13. I'm experiencing weak start up today. What could be the reason? Am Driving Latio Sedan. I have encounter this situation: Recently, my car battery went flat for no good reason. On Monday, I reached my office, attempted to lock the car using the knob on the door, beeping was heard. I took out my remote key and tried locking it, but it does not work. So, I tried with manual way. Until when i get back to my car after work. My car cannot start up at all. I tried with the key but it still does not work. Thought my remote battery went flat, I went to buy CR2025 batt and replace it. From far, I tried locking n unlocking the car, I saw weak faint light on my car. I called for jump start company to help me . Paid $30. Went to workshop and ask the mech to check e battery for me. Mech checked e car batt and assured that it is still working fine. Even the legend shown that green is OK. (I checked for myself that my Car Batt is in green stage). Car batt is 1.5yr old. maintenance free. GP brand. I never leave my light on at all. Assuming that the car batt went flat after i off e engine? Now im experiencing weak starting of car. Anyone know e reason? Thanks Since I'm very near to Autopoint, anyone care to tell which workshop over there is trustworthy. Thanks again.

I just did a try to loosen the wheel nuts with the small car supplied tool kit wrench. ooowwww, it was soooooo tight, tried all round. cannot even move even 1 of them. ok the wrench is rather small and has poor leverage...... but.... if really need to change the spare... I dont think I can make it :( Due to the air wrench super torque tightening? Any 'kang tao' for getting a better 1? or look for a strong pipe to better leverage on the supplied wrench?? Please advise. Thanks
