  1. Gantry doesn't go up when car park is full so: 1) cars can't even enter and do a 3-point turn to exit, 2) road and nearby T junction with Jalan Gelengang is clogged up by cars waiting to enter car park. Display says FULL when there is 1 free lot. Things are the same in a nearby car park with entrance and exit at Upper Thomson Rd.
  2. Any SE able to explain if these terms mean the same thing? If different, what usage had these types of units undergone? There’re times I see advertisements using these terms that give some discounts. 1. Demo units 2. Display units 3. Event units 4. Management units 5. Have not seen advertisement saying “Test drive units”
  3. Mind sharing your experiences on managing your anger? I am prepared to be flamed and the usual but i find myself getting angry all too often on the roads. Having said that, i am inclined to think that i have faced an undue amount of non-routine incidents n the road (no. of incidents encountered per unit time spent on road) I think i am just being unlucky. Some of such events include a person who continue to sashay on the shoulder of the 1st lane of the road even after horning him or her. I count this event as being non-routine as i don't regard such acts as being normal human behaviour. Okay my point now is, i keep telling myself that there are rules and unofficial rules which are socially observed and i abide to. When i encounter instances where there is a flagrant disregard, i get very worked up and the incident keeps ruminating in my mind. I think it is very unhealthy. I don't want my mind to be consumed by anger eventually. Thanks for reading and hope to read your inputs.
  4. CHIA Song Hwee Head, Strategy Co-Head, Portfolio Management Co-Head, Singapore I just realised Chia Song Swee former Chartered CEO is now one of the top guys in Temasek.... Common.... anyone here from Chartered Semi??? We don't know how his EXACT performance is like in Chartered but it is a FACT that during his years as CEO of Chartered semi from 2002 to 2009, Chartered Semi shares plummeted like a rock. In the end, we sold Chartered Semi to Global foundries. Seriously, what did he do that makes Temasek want him as Head Strategy??? Did chartered Semi do extremely well? What did he do that makes Temasek hire him to manage our Portfolio and Strategy? What strategy did he implement in Chartered Semi that ended up with Chartered share price dropping like a rock, making losses for many quarters, and ended up being sold to Global foundries. This is crazy.
  5. I was having a chat with a colleague on managing paperwork and storage, seems it quite a common issue among household where we file stacks of bills, invoices, statements etc which take up alot of space and time and usually what we want goes missing when we need it the most. Currently I'm creating a system of scanning and filing the various paperwork but I like to know how everyone here tackles the paperwork pertaining to their own households? Just wondering if there is any methods out there which I can learn and leverage on.

  7. This is really bad.... http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1244331/1/.html even channelnewsasia reported the story. Bottomline is PAP Town councils SOLD their computer system for $140000 to aim and promised to Pay Aim a Monthly Fee of $785 per town council to use their software. There are so many red flags that I am really worried for Singapore 1) There is only ONE BIDDER in the entire tender, Quote from CNA "Dr Teo said although five companies collected the tender agreement, the sole bid was submitted by AIM, a company fully owned by the P A P. " 2) sold for $140 000? what are they smoking? how much did they spend to develop that software? My brother has a startup that makes encryption software for cloud computing and I tell you, $140k is not going last very long. 3) $785 monthly fee per TC? with 14 PAP TCs that works out to $131880 a year! Sold their software for $140k and lease it back at $132k a year??? This is totally ridiculous. 4) How many Employees does Aim has? What is their contact number? They don't even have an address. Did they do ANYTHING at all? This is really bad... if PAP does not get to the bottom of this....
  8. does any one have the email contact of HSBC Singapore senior members, who i can drop a complaint note to? They have been taking so long (3 mths) to follow up on my query relating to my HSBC Revo Sign-up rebate. Told me they will call me back, but never do. One CSO told me one thing, another told me another. I am not sure if droppinng a feedback on the HSBC site will be useful or not, hence i thought going through senior mgt team will find a faster resolution. If youu have it, don mind pls PM me on the contacts? thank you very much.
  9. anybody sifu here knows about DRM so that ebook published cannot be freely circulated thanks
  10. LTA should not fine SMRT because that will lead to reduced revenue and increased fares. LTA should ask SMRT to cut the SMRT senior management PAY by 50%. This is better as it gives more money to SMRT and will not lead to increased fares for commuters. Starting from the CEO from DFS!!!!

  12. CNA Town council management report is politically motivated, says Chiam By Tan Weizhen, TODAY | Posted: 11 July 2011 0653 hrs SINGAPORE: Former Opposition Member of Parliament Chiam See Tong on Sunday criticised the latest Town Council Management Report (TCMR) - which showed that the town council of his former Potong Pasir ward had improved in three of the six indicators - as being "politically motivated". Despite the improvements, the Potong Pasir town council remained among the worst performing according to the report, which was released last Friday. For example, while most town councils achieved a Level 1 rating for service and conservancy charges arrears management, the town councils of Opposition-held Hougang and Potong Pasir fared worst in this area. Mr Chiam, 76, had helmed the Potong Pasir ward for 27 years until the General Election - which was held in May - when he moved out of the ward to lead a team to contest in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Mr Chiam and his wife Lina, who had contested in Potong Pasir, were both defeated. The Ministry of National Development (MND) had said that the third TCMR - it was introduced in 2009 - covered the period from last October to March this year and was based on pre-General Election town boundaries. Despite the MND's pronouncement that the assessment was carried out before the GE, Mr Chiam said in a media statement yesterday: "The HDB has now decided to award Potong Pasir constituency with a consolation prize after the GE by reporting that (its town council) has made the biggest gains with higher scores recorded for three out of six indicators." Mr Chiam added that he did not believe the report. "At all material times, I have been maintaining the estate well. (The report) is politically motivated," he said. When asked to respond to Mr Chiam's statement, Potong Pasir MP Sitoh Yih Pin reiterated that the "most important thing now is for us to move forward and improve the living conditions of Potong Pasir residents". "We also have to ... improve the overall maintenance of the town council," said Mr Sitoh. He added that a working committee was formed last month to look into "why the families are in arrears". - - TODAY/fa

  15. Firstly, I chose to post this here as I know there are a lot of well-educated and well-informed people around here. Secondly, I am NOT a spammer. Thing is that I have a good database of around 50-100k worth of people that are interested in a certain genre of activities. Thing is that it is terribly unsorted and literally in scraps. (you can imagine some on paper and in excel sheets and files of various forms) I need a good database management application to consolidate this into. I need an application that is able filter and manage this data for use. Also, if it should come with a bulk mailing function. The application should be either Mac or Windows based, cheap, (free?) or locally created and can generate e-mail blast reports. Sales personnel are welcome to contact me as well. Drinks on me if I implement your recommendation.

  18. Last night, together with another 2 friends we went to a Chinese restaurant @ Internation building to have buffet dinner. We reached the restaurant about 6:50pm and sitted quite near from the kitchen. We placed some orders for appetizer and some main course. The first 2 appetizer were served in about 5 min later. After that we waited and waited, finished eating the 2 appetizer, the rest of the food still are not served. We ask the waitress, they say its coming... Another 20 min gone so we asked for the lady manager. She say kitchen short handed but the food will be served shortly. Then she walked towards the kitchen and shouted to the kitchen crews in hokkien, "Table 21 hurry up, table 21 Kao pei liao!" It was so loud that 3 of us can hear clearly. Then I asked the manager why she say us "Kao pei"? We asked her politely and the food indeed are very slow in serving. She apologized and say not enough staffs in the kitchen and worked till very stress. I say we also worked till very stress so after work meet for dinner. Somemore, celebrating on of our friend birthday. She then say oh, happy birthday to my friend and say she dun mean to say us. Its just the way they talk to the kitchen crews. Asking us not to mind about it. We ordered mussels but waited for 2 hours then they serve. They say they missed out this food together with 3 other dishes. In fact we already asked them when we waited for 1 hour they say ok they will serve but still din serve.. We were saying try not to spoil our own mood, since settled down liao then jus enjoy ourselves. But... If you were me, will you bring up to their management? Call in? Write in?

  21. Under New Management says the advertisement with new pricing for the Skoda range, the Superb is going for 82K++ and Octavia 2 going for 56k. Finally some competitive pricing that should kick start the market, the Octavia at that price is a steal? Kudos to the new management.
