  5. An increasing number of rapes, murders, and disappearances of female university students have been making headlines recently in China, stoking fears among students nationwide. Many people have asked how they can ensure their safety, so the Wuhan police have come up with a handy list. The local Public Security Bureau for Wuhan University posted an extraordinary list of ways to avoid getting raped, which was then republished by Sina Guangdong. So, want to avoid having your dignity taken away? Here are nine suggestions from a Chinese police authority: Don’t take illegal cabs. (If you do,) get into the habit of memorizing the license plate. Sit in the back seat, and pretend to make a call. Woman on cellphone in the back: Husband, come out and pick me up! The license plate of the car is xxx Carry a small spray bottle that contains Fengyoujing (a medicated balm lotion), and spray it into the eyes of an attacker. Throw your wallet somewhere far away instead of passing it over to the attacker. Person throwing: Fly away! If you want to take a picture of the bad man, you can pretend to be talking on the phone and surreptitiously record him by pointing the back of the phone towards him. Be very careful using this one! If you are discovered doing this, you will die a grisly death. Sometimes, teeth can be more effective than your own hands Cannibal: If you’re not careful, you’ll have eaten the attacker. Cut your fingernails into this shape. A blunt cut is fine; don’t make them too long or else they may break unexpectedly. Upon being raped*, you should defecate or urinate if you can, or stick your fingers down your throat to vomit. An ordinary person will wilt at this sight. Carry a pen on your person (with the exception of a lead pencil). This is more convenient than a knife because you are able to pass through a security checkpoint. Be ugly; this is the safest way of all! * The word “rape” is censored in Chinese

  7. http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/courts-crime/story/ex-auxiliary-constable-jailed-insulting-modesty-women-lock-2014053 SINGAPORE - An auxiliary police officer who asked women held at a police lock-up to show him their bras was jailed for six months on Friday. Malaysian Kalai Selvan Ramaiya, 28, was working for Aetos as an auxiliary police officer when he insulted the women's modesty at the Jurong police division lock-up on Oct 1 and 2 last year. He has left Aetos and is now unemployed. A court heard that a 41-year-old Indonesian woman was alone in the station cell on Oct 1 when Kalai Selvan bent down and spoke to her through a pigeon-hole although it was not necessary to do so for them to hear each other. As she came to the door and bent down to speak to him, he caught a glimpse of her cleavage. He told her she would be in remand for one week, and that he needed to check her bra, knowing full well it was not true. -

  10. By Elena Chong A man who stole a total of eight iPads worth $6,824 from the Police Technology Department was jailed for three months on Monday. Yap Bao Fa, 27, was working as a senior support officer in the Singapore Police Force when he stole from the headquarters at Irrawaddy Road . He admitted to three counts of theft involving four iPads between Aug 16 and Sept 10 last year. The remaining four charges were taken into consideration. The court heard that he was authorised to access the secure metal cabinet at the Police Technology Department where new Apple iPads were stored. He had to scan his staff card and key a password into the Key Management System to open the "key press'' to retrieve the keys. When a number of iPads were found missing from the cabinet on Sept 10, a check of the access log records of the "key press'' showed that Yap had accessed it to get the key to the cabinet a number of times. Three iPads worth $2,559 were recovered. He could have been jailed for up to seven years and fined on each charge. http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/...rtment-20130715

  13. Date / time: 27 Oct Thur 9pm Where: ECP in front of MBS towards west coast I was coming down the Sheares bridge in lane 2, speed: about 80kmh A dark 5-series overtook me in lane 1, tailgated by a white volvo SUV number plate SGX something.... the two cars were just 1m apart both going at about 100kmh As the suv passed me, it moved closer to my door mirror!! and by then 1 noticed the blue blinking lights from its rear windscreen plus digital signboard behind this screen flashing "POLICE -- CLEARANCE -- THANK YOU" repeatedly.... then the SUV continued with its left wheels riding over the line (ie into land 2) but the car body was still riding in lane 1, tailgating the beemer...... I was curious:- was the suv escorting the beemer in front? but if yes, shouldnt the escort veh go in front of the 'host'??? I got more curious, so i sped up and went side by side with the beemer and peeped inside; the front passeger who looked like a thug stared back hard at me.... i took note of the number plate: nothing special, an ordinary SJB something............. Then i went ahead and moved into lane 1 in front of the two cars but kept a decent gap..... at this point the SUV started flashing hi beam behind the beemer.... as if to ask me F off??!! I moved back to lane 2, slowed down and let them pass..... the two continued at 100kmh like a train with only 1m between their bumpers... Anyone knows why the SUV tailgated, is this a common pattern between 'host' and police escort, or between two mata chias?? Maybe they are practising something??

  16. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...all_police.html Biker involved in accident begs witness not to call police -- because he has no licence A man motorcyclist, who was apparently without a licence, was knocked down by a truck along Upper Serangoon Road at about 4pm today (Sept 5). He then begged STOMPer Melvin, who was at the scene, not to call the police. Said the STOMPer: "This accident happened at a traffic junction along Upper Serangoon Road this afternoon. "A motorist was knocked down by a mini cargo truck and flung right behind me just right after I had crossed the road. "What a narrow escape! Being kind and nice, I went to help him up. "The motorist even begged us not to summoned the police as well as the ambulance even his left ankle was badly fractured just because he doesn't have a driving licence. "The lessons learnt from this particular accident is never drive without a licence. "If you want to drive then drive, be more cautious and careful." Police said in response to a STOMP query: "Police received a call at about 4.15pm today (Sept 5), informing us of a traffic accident involving a lorry and a motorcycle at the junction of Hougang Avenue 5 and Upper Serangoon Road. "The motorcyclist, a Chinese man in his mid-thirties, had sustained leg injuries and was conveyed conscious to CGH. "Police investigations are ongoing."
  17. Like that also can? Just feel that fellas who drink really shldn't drive. When they do, they not only risk their own lives but more importantly, other innocent folks might get hurt or even killed. From STOMP: Motorists set up Facebook page to help drink drivers evade Police road blocks This Facebook group unabashedly states its intentions -- to help drivers evade road blocks meant to prevent drink driving on the roads, providing tip-offs to drivers seeking to drink and drive. STOMPer Concerned feels that this group makes roads less safe for other road users. The comments posted by the users provide detailed information as to where each road block can be found, down to the deployment of vehicles at each block. Concerned commented on the group: "I recently found out about this Facebook group that's helping drunk drivers not get caught. "They're making the roads less safe for us all by giving tip-offs to help evade road blocks."

Hoe Qing Ren, 21, was taking part in a sprinting exercise when he collided with another trainee. He then fell to the ground and hit his head. The incident occurred at the Home Team Academy off Old Choa Chu Kang Road. His elder brother Qing An told The Straits Times that he had two clots in his brain and had undergone two operations at the National University Hospital to relieve the pressure. Doctors were starting to take him off sedatives because of his stable condition. However, he remains unconscious. The other trainee, Muhammad Haziq Haris, 20, injured his left shoulder The Straits Times also reported that the commander of the Home Team Academy's Training Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police Zuraidah Abdullah, had suspended the sprinting exercise pending further review. 20. The sight of this police car rammed into a street lamp at Jurong West Avenue 5 must have startled residents as much as it did STOMPers JX and Brandon. Spotted in the evening today (January 6), the police car had crashed into the lamp post outside a row of residential houses, causing the post to be tilted backwards. According to JX, the car was badly damaged in the front. He says: "I happened to drive past Jurong West Avenue 5 and to my surprise, it was not any other car but a police car that crashed into the lamp post along the road! "The front part of the car was badly damaged, not to mention the lamp post. "The accident happened within a stone's throw from the police post. "I wonder what happened to the officer". In another contribution, a shocked STOMPer Brandon says: "This police car hit a lamp post!". Good luck signing 1206
  21. Retrieved from the electric New Paper The four policemen went undercover to look for illegal activities in a Geylang backlane. But the operation quickly turned ugly when they arrested one person at a makeshift gambling stall. A crowd of about 200 people gathered around the officers and threw whatever they could lay their hands on, such as beer bottles and glasses, rocks and even rubbish. They became so unruly that one officer pulled out his gun, turned on its laser guide and aimed it at them. They calmed down, but became aggressive again when one of the men in the crowd, Foong Yuen Kuang, 28, charged aggressively towards one of the officers and challenged him. Speaking in a mixture of English and Hokkien, he openly challenged the undercover officer to a "one-on-one" fight with him. The mob resumed throwing things at the officers and dispersed only when police reinforcements arrived 15 minutes later. By then, the four officers were bruised and bloodied. They received treatment at Changi General Hospital. The dramatic details of the confrontation were revealed at the trial of Foong, a Singapore permanent resident, who faced one charge each of rioting and using threatening words at a police officer

Home > Breaking News > Courts and Crime > Story Sep 19, 2008 Fined for drink driving By Elena Chong, Courts Correspondent Giuseppe De Vito (seen here), 35, better known as Beppe De Vito, admitted to driving along Stamford and Beach Road junction when his blood alcohol level was 65mcg per 100 ml of breath on Jul 5 last year. -- ST PHOTO: WONG KWAI CHOW THE owner of high-end Italian restaurant il Lido was fined a total of $8,600 and banned from driving for two years on Friday for drink driving, dangerous driving and abusing a police officer. The legal limit is 35mcg per 100ml. De Vito also pleaded guilty to beating the red lights at that junction as well as the junction of Nicoll Highway with Middle Road at 2.47am. A police officer had trailed De Vito in his Maserati to his home in Katong. De Vito smelt strongly of alcohol and failed a breathalyser test, the court heard. When arrested, he repeatedly abused Senior Staff Sergeant Goh Keng Seng who warned him but he kept uttering the abusive words. De Vito could have been fined up to $5,000 or jailed up to six months for drink driving. The maximum penalty for dangerous driving is a fine of up to $3,000 and/or 12 months, and for using abusive words, $5,000 or 12 months. ------------------
  25. Police car wheel-clamped, issued with warning letter STOMPer Soulman saw this police car with its wheel clamped, apparently for parking in a season parking lot at the carpark of The Adelphi opposite Funan the IT Mall. He says: "The photos show 2 police cars parked at the parking lot of The Adelphi. "Apparently, 1 police car was parked at the yellow lot while the other was parked at the red lot (meant for season parking). "It seemed that the management was extremely dedicated to their work as the police car parked in the red lot was wheel clamped and served with a warning letter while the other one was not. "While I am not sure whether wheel clamping a police car is the correct thing to do, this proves that even police officers make mistakes every now and then."
