  2. This is abit strange. Normally tyre air pressure will reduce over time. And I have this normal situation for a long time But lately, i realise my air pressure didn't get reduced. Its the same air pressure for close to 2 months already. Is there something wrong? The front 2 tyres are experiencing the above strange situation. The air pressure is always the same. No lose of pressure. The back 2 tyres are losing air pressure, but at a little rate. Much too little, compared to before. My tyre is 205/45/16

  5. These young men very heng, if kena under murder charge and convicted will face the gallows... From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1153065/1/.html Downtown East murder: charges reduced By Shaffiq Alkhatib | Posted: 14 September 2011 1515 hrs SINGAPORE: Four youths accused of killing a 19-year-old student at the Downtown East entertainment hub in Pasir Ris last year have had their murder charges reduced to that of rioting. They are: Chong Rui Hong and Ng Wei Lun, both 19 years old, 20-year-old Puay De Feng and 21-year-old Jason Chew Wei Beng. While those convicted of murder will be sent to the gallows, the young men can instead be jailed up to seven years and caned if they are found guilty of rioting. All four are now accused of being members of an unlawful assembly whose common object was to cause grievous hurt to Darren Ng Wei Jie on October 30, 2010. Court documents stated that one or more members of the group allegedly used violence on the Republic Polytechnic student by stabbing and slashing him with knives, choppers as well as a screwdriver. Puay and Chew will be back in court on September 28 while the case involving the other two will be mentioned again next month. Eight other youths, between 16 and 22-year-old, who are also believed to be involved in the case still face murder charges. They include 20-year-old Stilwell Ong Keat Pin and 21-year-old Ho Wui Ming. The group allegedly attacked Darren between 5.30pm and 6pm at the main foyer of Downtown East on October 30. He succumbed to his injuries and died in Changi General Hospital about five hours later. Seven of these youths will have their cases re-mentioned on November 2. An eighth alleged accomplice, 21-year-old Lewis Wee Jun Jie will be back in court on September 19. - CNA/ck
  6. Was involved in a very slight incident last sept. The renewal notice indicates only 20%. When i called up the insurance company, they revealed it is due to an opened case lodged against me for that incident. The definition of opened case as i was told, is the case is pending a claim on me but has yet to take place. I was further informed i will need to pay a higher premium for the renewal first since now i only have 20% NCD and once the case is closed in a year's time without a claim on me in the end, i will be refunded back on the premium differences amount. Even the NCD will be reinstated back. Any idea if the above described something that is practiced here?
  7. I was involved in an accident where i hit the rear of the car in front of me when the vehicles in front all jam brake while i failed to do so. No hard feelings with the driver in front as I admitted fault and we exchange particulars and I proceed to ask him to claim from my insurance. All this happen in February this year, I later received a lawyer letter from the other party claiming close to $5k, while my own car claim is $3k. Fast forward to now when my insurance is due for renewal, I called up my current insurer and was told my claims still no change at $3k but the 3rd party claim reduced to $3.8k. I was told by my current insurer that they managed to reduce the claim from the other driver after negotiation. My question is all this possible? I am not complaining of course now that the claim amount had been reduced, just curious how come the claim can be reduced by up to $1k+.

  9. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stori...426860/1/.html SMRT's train frequency to be reduced if flu alert hits red By Kheng Siong & Lynda Hong, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 04 May 2009 2123 hrs SINGAPORE: SMRT said train frequency will be reduced by 30 per cent once Singapore's pandemic alert level hits red. This is because its service staff are divided into two teams to prevent the potential spread of the H1N1 virus. -------- reduced by 30 per cent = MRTs more packed = More chances of the virus spreading = WTF?

  11. I REFER to last Saturday's article, 'More cars on the roads - COE system not working to plan'. The article concluded erroneously that the certificate of entitlement (COE) system is not working as planned. As a result, there are more cars on our roads, and the roads are more crowded than they otherwise would be. This is categorically not the case. Since the introduction of the COE system in 1990, the vehicle population has grown at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 2.7 per cent from 1990 to 2007, which is within the prescribed rate of 3 per cent per annum. The vehicle population at the end of last year is therefore not larger than it should be, based on the allowable growth rate of 3 per cent per annum; in fact, it is smaller. The COE system has therefore been effective in keeping the growth of the vehicle population within the prescribed limit, even though the growth rate on a year-to-year basis may fluctuate. The roads are crowded not because the COE system is not functioning as intended, but because at 3 per cent per annum, vehicle growth significantly outstrips road growth at 0.5 per cent, thus making it untenable to continue at this rate. That is why the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will reduce the vehicle growth rate from 3 per cent to 1.5 per cent per annum from Quota Year 2009, that is, May next year, as announced in the Land Transport Masterplan. This rate will be reviewed after three years to assess whether a further reduction is necessary.   12. KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- Malaysia's prime minister said Friday he will soon reduce government subsidies in the clearest sign that fuel prices will go up, a move that will likely be unpopular before general elections expected in a few months. "We have to restructure our subsidies. It is very difficult to maintain the current subsidies," Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said in a speech to his ruling party delegates. Abdullah refused to give a time frame for when the subsidies will be lowered, but acknowleged many Malaysians would be unhappy. "There is always some unhapiness. Not everybody will be happy but I think Malaysians are reasonable," he said. He also declined to say how the decision will effect the government's performance in elections. The biggest chunk of government subsidies is spent on keeping prices of gasoline and diesel down. Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak said Friday the government would have to spend 35 billion ringgit (US$10 billion;
