  1. HI, Everytime i try to call in to UOB bank to make a enquiry the average waiting time could be more than 30min and still noone pick up the phone line 1800-2222 121. The service is really bad. Anyone has the same experience?
  2. According to Stomp, this guy booked a GrabHitch ride in Choa Chu Kang on Friday afternoon. He scheduled the ride for 3.15pm, but the driver sent a message to ask if it will be ok for him to arrive at 3.25pm. The passenger then asked if the driver could reach by 3.15pm instead but received a snide reply: "I drive car not aeroplane" The driver eventually cancelled the ride. It seems like the passenger is a little demanding. There are many variables that affect travel time on the road - there could have been traffic, the driver might also have been some distance away and hence required more time to reach. In such a situation, the best solution is to just wait - if you cancel this ride and book another, chances are he won't reach by 3.15 also mah. Understandably, GrabHitch is a carpooling service, where drivers who are going the same way, offers to pick up passengers for a small sum. As such, it is kind of an unwritten rule that one shouldn't expect to receive five-star chauffeur service. I think the most important takeaway from this incident is that communication is key. The driver could have replied nicely, and the passenger should have been more understanding and the whole thing wouldn't have been an issue. And hor, I also don't have an aeroplane, but I still can reach work (quite) on time leh.
  3. what the f*%& is this....... http://edvantage.com.sg/edvantage/schoops/...aminations.html Furious parent questions if this is how the school 'prepares' students for exams. A group of Primary Six students were left waiting in the rain just before their PSLE oral examinations on Aug 20, leaving at least one parent fuming. They were locked out of school and according to a contributor to STOMP, the security guard refused to let them in even though it was raining heavily. The contributor, Teow, described the incident in an email: "My daughter is a pupil of Boon Lay Garden Primary School, who is sitting for her PSLE oral examination this morning. "She was told to report to the school before 9.30am to sit for her exam. As my wife and I had to go to work, I arranged for my brother-in-law to send her to school this morning. "Since my daughter told us that they had to wait outside the gate until their allocated time, I thought the school will make alternative arrangements as it is was raining quite heavily. "But when my brother-in-law reached there around 9am with my daughter, he was surprised to see that there were a lot of PSLE pupils waiting outside the gate in the rain. "He spoke to the school's security officer to let the pupils into the school and wait at the covered link-way since it is was raining so heavily.
  4. Anyone realised if the waiting time for a taxi in Orchard is becoming longer? Am I the only one?
  5. Do you guys encounter queuing behind cars waiting to join the main road, the 1st lane is clear for the cars in front to turn left and enter the main road - but they will wait and wait and wait until they can cut straight across 3 lanes to do a right turn/U turn perpendicularly opposite. I find it very inconsiderate, when they can join the main road at the first opportunity and do a U turn further down the road How patient are you guys in this situation, do you ever horn them?
  6. Been following this thread for a couple of weeks. Seems like the GTR driver is damn suay. Waiting at traffic light, kenna banged by a drunk driver in a carbon fibre bonnet Vios driving opposite direction. Worst thing is Vios insurance don't wanna pay, gotta claim from own insurance. Repair cost coming to 70k on parts alone, haven't include labour and all. I read the thread, pity the GTR driver. Seriously, this can happen to anyone. http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?/t...ver-last-night/
  7. I know double zig zag and single zig zag rules, but what about double yellow? Just now I was waiting infront of another car at double yellow line. I was in the car but the back car driver is standing outside. I was being told off and I thought the same will happen to the back, after making a round, the back car was still there. Double standard or cannot wait in car?

  10. CNA news report : Woman pleads guilty to sex act on girl SINGAPORE: A 22-year-old woman pleaded guilty on Wednesday to two counts of performing a sexual act on an underage girl, in what's believed to be the first case of its kind in Singapore. The woman, who is a student, cannot be named to protect the girl's identity. The woman performed the act on the then-13-year-old girl with her consent in 2008 and 2009. Deputy Public Prosecutor S Sellakumaran said the girl's schoolmate first introduced the youngster to the woman in November 2007. They became good friends after meeting each other face-to-face at the girl's birthday party later that month. DPP Sellakumaran added that they ended up in a relationship about two months later. Soon after this, the woman would pick her up from school whenever the girl's mother was unable to do so. The court heard that the woman first committed the act on the girl in November 2008 at a staircase landing of a multi-storey car park. She later performed a similar act on the girl in a room at Siloso Beach Resort in Sentosa in 2009. The girl's mother soon learnt about her daughter's relationship with the woman and alerted the authorities. Defence Counsel Paul Tan urged the court to put his client on probation. He said the woman was 19 years old when she first became the girl's partner and the two of them were very close to each other. However, District Judge Low Wee Ping said the fact that the girl consented to the act may not be relevant. He stressed that the offence involved a young girl who is protected by the law. Judge Low has called for a pre-sentence probation report and the woman will be back in court on April 18. If convicted of the offence, for each charge, she could be jailed up to two years, fined a maximum of 5,000 dollars or both. We have a lot of volunteers waiting in MCF what ....... why pick on 13 yrs old ......... why never chio ......
  11. I think the father is more frustrated that his son can't do anything productive while waiting in expectation when his son has to serve NS and be done with it so that his son can plan his future. But he talk very nice hor, that his son willing to serve his nation. ST Forum Mar 4, 2011 Turning 20, and still waiting for call-up WHILE most eligible youth are already in national service when they turn 18, my son Nicholas Ng Zhi Yong, who will be 20 years old in June, has not been called up by the Ministry of Defence. He has had his medical examinations and is not under any deferment from Mindef. Despite many calls to the Central Manpower Base, no one there has been able to tell us when he is slated for enlistment. My son's peers are either in NS or have already received their enlistment dates. Here is a boy, willing to serve his nation, but is left in limbo as to his next course of action. The time wasted in waiting for his enlistment could be better spent taking up a course, developing a skill, or working in a temporary job. Even worse is the uncertainty of when he will be enlisted. I do not need reasons, I need a date. Mindef owes it to the poor boy. Joseph Ng
  12. ESPN latest : Pressure builds on struggling managers The new year has not brought much cheer for four Premier League managers after Wednesday's results put them under severe pressure to keep their jobs. Chelsea's sensation form slump continued as they lost 1-0 away to Wolves, leaving Carlo Ancelotti searching for answers, while Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson - already believed to be on the brink of being replaced - saw his side fall to a heavy 3-1 defeat at Blackburn. At the bottom of the table, Avram Grant's lowly West Ham were thrashed 5-0 at Newcastle and Aston Villa fell into the relegation zone by virtue of Wolves' win and their 1-0 loss at home to Sunderland, prompting fans to call for Gerard Houllier's head. All four clubs are performing well below their respective expectations this season and while Hodgson, Houllier and Grant are all new to their clubs this season, the decline of Ancelotti's Chelsea has in some ways been the most surprising. From winning the domestic double last season, Chelsea find themselves all but out of the title race just over half way through the season and currently sitting outside the Champions League places in fifth place having won just one of their past nine league matches. Hodgson is the bookmakers' favourite to be axed next and after Liverpool's latest defeat, which left them in 12th just five points better off than rock bottom West Ham, he gave a two-minute interview in which he answered just three questions. Liverpool legend and current club adviser Kenny Dalglish is heavily rumoured to take over from Hodgson on a temporary basis. Hodgson said: "I am not prepared to talk about [my future] because obviously I am depressed enough with the performance and the result. I have no comments to make and I have no intention to answer any questions on the subject. [i feel] dejection, bitter disappointment, frustration. I am very disappointed for the fans who gave us good support and saw the team concede the goals we did." RH all time high on my list .......

  15. http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Stuck+at+the...you.-a088191668 I know it sounds ridiculous but just realised that UK does have such a law. IF you don't off your engines while waiting at a long traffic light you may be fined! LOL!!!!
  16. Nowadays, many Taxi Drivers are behaving like those in Penang. Wait at good places to pick up passengers. They Park and Wait outside Condominiums sometimes 2~3 in a row on Double Yellow-line. Don't mistaken for them on Call as they take anyone. Though I don't disapprove of them earning their livelihood, but sometimes they Obstruct the Left Lane and cause the morning traffic jam. My place, they parked in front of Bus Stop which the Condo entry/exit. The worst thing is my place downstairs - NO Taxis roaming. I have to walk 500m to the nearest Condo to take Cab to Airport for business trip... ALL the Condos around my area got 2 to 3 waiting. Why see HDB owners no UP ?
  17. spotted this Honda Stream at The Comtech this morning, while parking just beside it...damn the both front tyres 'botak' liao.... sigh...some drivers just simply bochap....!!
  18. Drivers, If you are waiting for someone at a car park, would u park in a lot and wait in the car or will you wait in the car outside the lot so that others who need to "park the car and get off" can do so, without inconvenient others? Say the car park is a "hot" car park...
  19. Scenario: 1) You live in a HDB flat on the 6th floor. The highest floor in your block is 12 floors. 2) You are waiting for the lift to reach to the ground floor. 3) Which button(s) will you press to get the lift to your floor?
  20. Cyclists are forced to either wait indefinitely or to beat the red light [ /red] HAVE observed that the Green Link Determining system, which controls traffic signals along arterial roads, is unable to detect bicycles. 21. Some background: Got into an unfortunate accident several weeks back (kissed someone's backside), so went to TTS (Fiat) to make a claim. Parts were not available then, so I could only send in my car on last Monday. Nothing major, but some panels damaged, since the other is claiming against me, might as well self claim also. Car was surveyed by AIG surveyor and quoted for 6 days repair, meaning I will get a replacement car for 6 days also. Finally sent the car in last Monday. Customer Service advisor who handled the whole case was Teng. Car is supposed to be ready by next Monday (today). Fast forward to last Saturday: I drove down to TTS and looked for Teng and asked him to confirm if the car will be ready by Mon. He said check the progress of the workshop and get back to me on Mon. Fast forward to Monday (today): No calls received from Teng so I called TTS in the morning around 1030, only to hear the shocking news that Teng is no longer working there. The operator said she will route me to James instead, but he is attending to a customer and would call me back. Insurance will only cover the car till today, so gotta return it. Fastforward 30min, no call from TTS. When I called back, operator said James is in workshop and will get him to call me. Fastforward to 1hour after first call, still no call. Called TTS again and finally she forwarded me to James who appears to be totally unaware that I have sent my car in, when I'm suppose to collect it. He even asked if I had sent my car in! Calmed down and explained my case, and he said will check and call back. Fastfoward another 30min, still no call at all. Finally decided to look for the Sales(who sold me the car) for help. Kudos to him, within 10min he called back and said that car is still in bodyshop and need another 2-3days(?!?). Told him history of the case, and he said James will check and update me back the status by 3pm. This whole incident is putting a bad taste in my mouth. It appears the repair schedule is overrun, but nothing has been done to inform me nor the insurance company, so that the replacement vehicle can be extended. Communication and response to the customer is bad, evident by all the calls I have to make despite promises by TTS to call back. Right now, I am doubtful that I will even receive a call by 3pm and likely I would have to call and check back instead. And after Teng left, it appears that there is minimal handing over. Evident by the lack of awareness of outstanding case of claims and repairs. So at 3pm. Again no call from TTS. I had to call James up again. Now, then I was told that the car would not be ready. Still at workshop. An update can only be given tomorrow when the car would be ready. And even then, it's not confirmed that it will be ready by tomorrow. And now I am informed that I should have known that the repair time quoted (6days), is NOT the actual time taken. That there's waiting time at the workshop. How I should have known this is beyond me. I am only a customer, I am not in the car industry. So who is going to cover my transportation now? Nobody. James said that TTS will not compensate. Insurance has already compensated for the 6 days of repair to be taken. So now the waiting time is going to fall totally upon me, apparently it's my own fault from all indications. "Great" news on the 6th working day since I sent the car in, the day where I'm supposed to get my car back. I do not find this reasonable at all. I was told to send my car in on last Monday. Isn't the workshop schedule supposed to be planned so that it can accomodate the car without waiting time? Why should it be my onus that there is a waiting time? The insurance was fair to provide me with 6 working days worth of replacement car usage. But why can't TTS ensure that the repairs can be completed by 6 days? It's not a last minute request, the accident was several weeks back. So why should I be penalised wholly on the waiting time now? Oh, btw, James claimed to have called me at 12:28 and he has call logs but he could not get through. Funny that Sale had gotten through 20minutes earlier, and all the while I was in the open at a hawker centre. But oh well, benefit of a doubt. Now I am promised a status update by 2pm tomorrow. My fingers are crossed, and meanwhile, I'm back to BusMRTWalk because apparently it's supposed to be my own fault that I'm unaware that I should factor in waiting time when I send my cars in for repairs. So after the long essay above, my question is: 1) Should the customer be aware of "waiting time"? 2) Is it fair that the customer should bear the delay and inconveniences due to this "waiting time"?
