  1. wow, i thot this only happens in usa. tat thief needs to be punished heavily. =================== Sep 16, 2010 Car chase ends in crash By Mavis Toh A high speed police chase after a lorry thief ended yesterday afternoon when the lorry collided into other vehicles on the AYE towards Tuas, near the Alexandra Road exit. -- PHOTO: ST READER A DRAMATIC high speed police chase after a lorry thief on Thursday afternoon ended with a five vehicle collision on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE). The suspect, a 37-year-old man, was believed to have stolen a lorry belonging to a pipe maintenance company located at Ubi Road 3. What he did not know, was that the vehicle was installed with a Global Positioning System (GPS) that allowed its whereabouts to be tracked. Mr Shaik Nazeemuddin, general manager of the company which owns the vehicle, told The Straits Times that the lorry was being driven by the firm's technician before it was reported missing. The technician had parked the vehicle outside his flat at Ubi Avenue 1 sometime after 10am when he went for a toilet break. Though he locked the lorry, the man left the key on a table beside his door. When the technician came out, he found both the key and lorry missing. When alerted that the lorry had been stolen, he jumped into his Madza 3 with two other employees and drove to Changi Road North where the lorry's position had been tracked on the GPS system. It was then that the police entered the chase as officers from the Bedok Police Division spotted the lorry travelling along Upper Changi Road North, towards the direction of Changi Prison. They trailed the lorry onto the Pan Island Expressway and East Coast Parkway before getting onto the AYE. But the getaway ended just after the Alexander Road exit, where the lorry collided with several other vehicles. A spokesman from the Singapore Civil Defence Force said that the suspect was found trapped in the driver's seat and had to be rescued using a hydraulic spreader. He was then arrested and taken to Changi General Hospital. There were no other casualties in the incident but the highway drama resulted in a massive jam which slowed traffic down for hours.

  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Do6-Jkt048 Last Thursday, two ladies and one gentleman in Wenzhou were about to enjoy a steamy, "car-shaking" 3-header when one of them accidentally released the handbrake and sent the car hurtling down the hill and straight into a tree - ending the night with a 'bang' in an entirely different sense. Two dozen firefighters arrived on the scene to find the vehicle a twisted piece of metal, sprinkled with shards of glass from with the shattered windshields and filled with naked, bloodied women. One of the women broke both of her legs and needed firemen to pry her out with the jaws of life. The man walked away unharmed, but investigations are said to be ongoing. http://therealsingapore.com/content/2-chinese-girls-and-1-china-man-threesome-inside-car-ends-horrific-accident
  5. There were many more dealers than buyers yesterday at used car shops, as the final weekend before loan restrictions kick in ended with a whisper. About 15 second-hand car dealers told The Straits Times that this was how it had been for several weeks, after the "panic buying" that came right after the Government's 60-day loan reprieve on certain used cars began on April 6. "There was a frenzy the first weekend after the extension was announced," said Mr Jeremy Teo, 42, a car salesman at Henly Enterprises in Ubi. He said his dealership sold almost all of its 80 eligible used cars within two weeks. The reprieve, which ends tomorrow, was granted by the Monetary Authority of Singapore after an outcry from used car dealers. It applied only to roughly 7,000 used cars acquired before the curbs kicked in on Feb 26. Source: http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/...e-ends-20130603
  6. Beijing real estate prices drop as year ends hqsb posted on November 24, 2011 01:08 http://www.globaltimes.cn/DesktopModules/D...&PortalID=0 Homes in Beijing have seen a dramatic price drop as the year comes to a close. Insiders say the reduction comes as developers need cash returns that are not coming fast enough. A local property company has been promoting its houses in Beijingxiangsu community, located near the East Fifth Ring Road, for 11,600 yuan ($1,825) per square meter and some units are selling for as low as 480,000 yuan, according to the Beijing Morning Post. Figures from the Beijing Real Estate Trade and Management website show the average price of an apartment in this community has dropped from 22,500 yuan per square meter to 11,600 yuan, said the report. The company started pre-sales in June, but none of its apartment projects have sold out, a sharp contrast compared to last year's busy real estate market. Another builder, Vanke, has also reduced the price of several projects by 10 to 20 percent, indicating the housing market in Beijing is in a rapid decline, according to the report. Zhang Yue, a senior analyst at Beijing Homelink Real Estate, said many real estate companies followed Vanke's lead and reduced their price by between 10 and 20 percent. "It is unusual to see a 50 percent reduction," said Zhang. An anonymous staff member at a local property company told the paper a half-price home comes close to the original cost of the property, adding possible reasons for the huge discount. "At the end of the year, many real estate developers have to repay loans to the bank and pay the construction workers," he said. Yu Liang, the president of Vanke, recently told the press his company has "gone into hibernation." "Cash on hand is more important than profits now," he said. Zhang Dawei, marketing director of Centaline Real Estate Beijing, told the Global Times the decrease in home prices shows the government's policy on the housing market, such as purchase restrictions and loan regulations, has had an effect. "If the government doesn't loosen the policy, I think the prices might keep dropping lower," he said.
