  2. Understand there are legal minds here, so would appreciate your input. I lease a few equipments and have been paying the fee for a few months to even up to 2 years cos they are leased separately. Only a few equipment has got signed contracts, many equipment did not come with any written or signed contracts as the salesman either did not prepare any or he prepared contracts with company names that are not those that were requested. He was supposed to change the names and come back with new contracts to be signed. So a few months to more than 2 years have passed. No contracts signed for many equipments but we have been paying the invoices. 1. For equipments without any contracts that were signed by us, is there an implied contract? 2. For those contracts that were signed by us but we noticed that the company details are incorrect and requested that they be amended, are they valid even though we never receive any copy? Right now the leasing company insist we are under "contract" but is refusing to provide details f when they end and insist we refer to our own copies. Am stuck, I dun have any contract to refer to. 3. Can they refuse to give me a copy of these "contracts"? I just need certainty as to the expiry dates. 4. Worth taking it thru the legal route cos it's not a lot of money involved and legal fees won't be cheap? Appreciate comments especially those who have met cases like this. Thanks.

  4. Hi All, Need your opinion on something. I signed a sales agreement but there was a major feature missing. I spoke to my SA and we managed to iron things out. I was offered a chance to either top up for that option at dealer cost and indent the car (3-4 mths wait) or I could get my money back now. This is a guaranteed Coe with rebate is at 57K. We currently have a really old car to drive that's still alright so getting around isn't a big issue. Would you guys take the current price + top up and hope for a lower Coe come Nov -Dec. The top end is capped and there maybe quite a bit of downside. Or just take back the deposit and wait... I really like the car. But this experience has kinda soured my experience. I'm not angry but a bit upset with the way things have turned. What are you views? Cheers J
  5. extract from another site...I am also very puzzled with this method of squeezing $$ to generate revenue...read on My Point Termination fee not stated I WAS recently told by M1 that even though I had completed my 24-month home broadband contract, I would still need to pay a termination fee if I wanted to end the service. Why was the termination fee not made clear in the contract or on M1's website? Can the telco or the Infocomm Development Authority explain why there is a need for such a fee? Goh Hock Chai http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/...point-20131107 The Straits Times, Published on Nov 09, 2013 My Point Termination fee listed in form WE THANK Mr Goh Hock Chai ("Termination fee not stated"; Thursday) for his feedback on our fibre service, and have contacted him to address his concerns. The termination charge is listed in the application form for fibre services, which is signed by our customers. Chua Hian Hou Assistant General Manager Corporate Communications M1

  11. guys.. wanna seek your advice.. lagi better if u commercial lawyer one.. i'm a starhub subscriber for tv, voice and internet since years back. initial contract was 2yrs, then renewed again, and finally late last year renewed again, verbally. here's how it went: the cso called to ask me if i wanted to renew.. with the info he provided over the phone, i agreed, hence the contract was renewed verbally. here's the issue: when the guy called, he didn't tell me the free voice subscription is going to end in july. i agreed based on my understanding that everything was supposed to be the same as previously offered. called the cso today.. he claimed they have recording of my verbal agreement, and is considered a binding contract.. early termination charges will be slapped on me, even though this was a misrepresentation. here's the question.. is this true? there a case for me to terminate this verbal contract? go complain to case? knn all the while my clients sign contracts with me in black/white, 2 copies at least for keeping and on every page. this starfug only need voice taped down and stored in their database and i don't even have anything. ridiculous! is there such a thing outside?
  12. The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) announced on Monday it has terminated its agreement with private firm SG Changi to build the proposed Changi Motorsports Hub. SSC's chief executive officer Lim Teck Yin told reporters at a media briefing that the SSC found it would be "difficult for the project to succeed". The consortium was awarded the tender to build the hub in March last year but faced difficulties raising the estimated $380 million needed. Construction for the hub, which was to be completed by the end of the year, was halted in January. The SSC gave the termination notice to SG Changi last Wednesday. Lim said that he will personally lead an SSC inquiry into the process of the motorsports hub project and has commenced a full post-mortem. He added that for the remainder of this year, the SSC and SG Changi will work out a mutual termination agreement, with the terms to be finalised by the end of this month. He declined comment on whether a new tender will be opened for the project but noted that the SSC will need to put out a public request for information to assess market interest in taking up the building of the hub. The hub was planned to include a 3.5km race track, a 1.2km karting track and a 20,000-capacity spectator gallery, alongside a museum and a racing academy. YAHOO

  15. Seems like all shops are concentrating on selling smartphones. I am looking for a proper mobile phone - Sony Ericsson ELM without contract. Or phones with (i) long batt life (ii) clear reception and transmission (iii) above average set of features like ELM with aGPS, decent cam, and FM ledio. Where to get it at decent non cut-throat price in the Western areas (JP ~ IMM)? TIA.
  16. Today I tried to do re-contract after current contract in force for > 12 months but < 21 months. Wanted to get the Sony-Ericcson Arc and was prepared to pay the $100 penalty for not waiting for the full 21 month as before. BUT, was told I have to pay $300 penalty as Arc is a smartphone. Really disappointed as never know about such rule. Is it a new rule?
  17. LONDON, Oct 22, 2010 (AFP) - Wayne Rooney performed a shock u-turn Friday by signing a new five-year contract with Manchester United just days after appearing to be on his way out of Old Trafford. However United reopened talks with Rooney
  18. Would like to pose a question to the legal experts out there. I know we definitely have more than a few legal eagles in this forum. Question is: Someone gives me a contract for work to be performed, those kind that go "...whereas it is hereby agreed that...". I and the other party initial/sign each page to indicate that we have sighted the page. But then at the end of it, the other party puts down his signature on the space reserved for it at the end of the contract. I don't sign the space reserved for me. Instead, I only do the initial/sign thing at the bottom corner of this page. Is this contract valid, though I didn't put my signature at the big blank reserved for it with my name, I/C number printed below, etc.? Or in other words, if I breach the contract, can the other party claim damages according to the terms stated in the contract?
  19. Hi guys My current contract is ending, and don't really intend to renew but wanted to keep the no. just in case for old contacts. Is it possible to port a no. from a postpaid plan to pre-paid service? Or any cheapest way?

  22. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../427284/1/.html LTA awards S$368 million contract for 22 new trains SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority has awarded a S$368 million contract for 22 new trains for the North-South and East-West Lines. The trains are scheduled to be progressively delivered to Singapore from 2011 till 2012. With the 22 new trains and modifications for an additional track at Jurong East station, LTA says commuters will experience a shorter waiting time and a more comfortable ride on trains during peak periods. The modifications and new trains will increase the capacity of the North-South, East-West Lines by about 15 per cent and enable the lines to meet projected demand till 2020. 1) shorter waiting time maybe 2) more comfortable ride??? how to when smrt already remove most of the seats in current trains inorder to squeeze in more passengers and are there any train stewardess serving me or massaging me during the journey? 3) spend S$368 million just to increase the capacity by abt 15%, well spent and wise??? 4) to meet the projected demand till 2020 whereas the trains will only be delivered 2011/2012, does that mean the trains will only be used for abt 8-9 yrs before the next change?
