  1. Parking PSA: 1️⃣ From 1 Sep 2022, we will adjust the grace period for short-term parking in all car parks with the Electronic Parking System to 15 minutes, to give motorists time for pick-ups and drop-offs. 2️⃣ From 19 Sep 2022, we will discontinue the sale of parking coupons at all HDB branches, as 9 in 10 motorists now use the Parking.sg app at most coupon-based car parks to take advantage of per-minute charging. Motorists who prefer to use coupons can still purchase them at authorised agents, such as petrol stations and convenience stores.
  2. I'm still a P plate driver (I haven't really driven much since getting my license oof) and I recently read an article on how some shopping mall carparks have narrow entrances or confusing layouts. As a new driver, I was just wondering if there are any specific carparks in Singapore that I should avoid? 😓
  3. Was searching around for info on which carparks that will scratch your bumper or undercarriage no matter how slowly you drive Googled and found a few lists in other forums but some are really long and include carparks with narrow ramps etc. And some are outdated. What I want to find out is which carparks to totally avoid if you have lowered cars. Those that will 100% hit no matter how slow you go So far I only know of one - the Bugis Junction carpark coming out to Middle Road Anyone else have others to contribute? Only those that sure kenna one, thanks 1) Bugis Junction - Middle Road exit
  4. MPS are charged a proportion of the parking fee as they "do not park overnight or full day at their constituencies". LOL. Can they hire someone to do some logical thinking and reasoning before releasing such statement for their press releases? Or maybe just don't mention at all because it will backfire. Neither do teachers park overnight in schools. Neither do we park overnight at our workplace. Can pay half price only anot? $1 a day parking. Good lei... Elected Members of Parliament (MPs) pay S$365 for an annual permit that allows them to park at Housing & Development Board (HDB) car parks when doing constituency work and at Parliament House when on official business, the Ministry of National Development (MND) said on Monday (Jun 25). The amount is "a proportion of" the current HDB season parking rate, MND said in responses to The Straits Times that were shared with Channel NewsAsia. For HDB residents' first parking lot, the monthly parking charge is S$80 for surface car parks and S$110 for sheltered car parks. "The rate is a proportion of the prevailing HDB season parking rate since MPs do not park overnight or full day at their constituencies," the MND said, adding that the permit fee was increased from S$260 in 2016. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/elected-mps-pay-365-annually-parking-hdb-car-parks-parliament-10468334
  5. Just today, I almost hit onto another vehicle which made an illegal entry into a no entry area as there is only one-way traffic in the carpark.. It happened at Raffles City.. In fact, for the past few months, almost every once in a while I will see cars doing that.. It's especially prevalent in Raffles City.. But also prevalent at other carparks as well.. On entering the carpark (from Bras Basah Rd entrance) at B2, cars are supposed to make a right turn on the 2nd junction (1st junction is for cars exiting when they travel from B3) followed by a left turn immediately.. Some cars, choose to ignore the no entry sign and go straight in.. Is it a "lazy to go one big round to get to that free lot" attitude? Or is it a simply "bo chap" attitude? I think by taking the short cut, it puts other users' vehicle or pedestrians' lives at risk.. I understand sometimes it is difficult to get a lot and by the time you turn one round to get to that lot, it might already be taken, but I'd rather be safe den sorry.. So what are ur views guys and gals?
  6. Where to check the charges and hours that are considered peak?
  7. An innovative 'green-architectural' idea implemented in a U.K. car dealership can actually be carried over here for our urban use. Said to be one of the most environmentally-friendly vehicle dealerships in the U.K., it will primarily retail and service all Fiat Group Automobiles products. Apparently the dealership is housed under a rain-catching roof. And it doesn't stop there as the green roof is only one part of an idea in a number of money and Gaia saving features that have been designed into the new two-acre T H White site in Swindon. The collected rain water can be reused for services like car washing or flushing of toilets. Even the used water from the valeting bays is recycled and waste engine oil is stored and used to heat the building. Additionally, solar panels on the front and roof of the showroom also provide energy for heat and light
  8. A pretty comprehensive list from Cheaponana.com Does anyone have any more to add?
  9. bros and sis, to monitor vandalism, hit and run and other offenses, and to enable the culprits to be brought to justice, do you think that all hdb carparks shd be fitted with cctv? what do u people think?
  10. Hi bros, need to check with you on the above mentioned topic and parking on the white parking lot with a $4 parking coupon after midnight on a Sunday morning. Is this considered a parking offence? The reason I am asking this is that last night, I parked at a friend's place in Hougang at 12.30am in a full white parking lot and placed a $4 night parking coupon on my dashboard. The next morning I saw a summon ticket stating that I did not park with a valid season parking ticket, timed at 4.30am. Need to check with you guys if this is a valid offence or the Fatimah had incorrectly slap an invalid fine on me. If the latter is true, can I appeal for this case?
  11. Good day all MCF forumers, Would like to know if it is possible to get a receipt for those shopping centre carparks operated by ERP? I am having an event at Vivocity and as you know, that is a ERP (or EPS) to be precise carpark where I pay using cashcard in the IU. I need to get a receipt for the parking charges to claim the charges from my company. I didn't really notice if at the exit gantry, is there any machine where I can press for receipt and a receipt pops out? Anyone able to advice? Thanks and enjoy your weekend!
  12. ST Forum Jun 9, 2011 Many driving against traffic flow between carparks I HAVE on numerous occasions witnessed motorists driving against the traffic flow to get into either the Wheelock Place carpark, or the Far East Shopping Centre carpark when they fail to find a spot at the open-air carpark directly opposite Borders bookstore at Wheelock Place. Last week, during the heavy downpour during lunch time, a woman driver drove against the traffic to cut the waiting queue to the Far East Shopping Centre carpark. Pedestrians crossing the narrow road, and walking across the Wheelock Place carpark (rightly) would not expect cars coming from a direction that is clearly against the traffic flow. Paul Heng
  13. Finally, MBT admit that 225 HDB car parks face shortage of lots. http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/...428-212852.html "These oversubscribed carparks affect about 2 per cent of season parking ticket (SPT) buyers, Mr Mah clarified." Anyone knows how many HDB car parks in Singapore? If 2000+ HDB car parks, then it is 10%.
  14. Hi Everyone! I am asking this on behalf of a friend ... May I know if there are any carparks in Singapore with direct access to a Handicapped Toilet? That is meaning to say when you park your car, you do not have to walk out of the carpark to get to the toilet. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
  15. I was at East Coast Lagoon car park last nite when this guy drove against the flow of traffic near the entrance which is a one way street and forcing his way into a car park lot. I was quite hesitant to gv way to him cos i was nearer to the lot and hv the rights over it. I gestured to him saying that this is a one way street. That ass hole pointed to the lot as if that he owned that car park lot. Not wanting to pk up a quarrel, i gave way to him. Just curious to know how will other drivers react to this?
  16. Hi everyone, Speed humps as you might already have known (or explicably choose to ignore for some reasons known only to you), are supposed to force you to slow down for the purpose of safety. I have observed a good many times that some cars have been very enterprising, deliberately circumventing the hump entirely by zipping through empty parking lots that are perpendicularly adjacent to such speed hump(s) in question. The concrete blocks or compacted bricks that are used as foundations for these parking lots are simply laid on with little or not cementing. When you drive very quickly through them, the result is nothing too nice. Broken bricks and bricks which are torn up from their otherwise nice arrangement. And because of your refusal to drive through the hump or rather the properly designated driveway, the lot(s) are now a permanently mangled mess which makes parking sometimes a chore and even a risk because some of these displaced bricks are now jutting out dangerously with sharp ends. I am sure your tires will find them inviting. Please i urge you once again. Stop such a practice which inconveniences the rest of the motoring community. Thanks
  17. The fairer sex won't be too happy about this, but a German study has shown that men are better at parking than women. The results of this study may potentially cause some outrage, but its really not as bad as it seems for women. The results of the study show that female drivers take 20 seconds longer than their male counterparts to park a car, and even if they do get their cars parked, they are more likely to be crooked than a car parked by males, Telegraph reported. The experiment was conducted as such: 65 people were rounded up and asked to park an Audi A6, a fairly large but not exactly huge car, into a standard parking space. And it wasn't just conventional vertical-reverse parking that was tested. Head-on and parallel parking was timed and tested as well and each type of parking was rated for accuracy according to the distance kept away from the sides of the parking space. The initial hypothesis from the scientists who carried out the experiment was that women would be the poorer of the two genders, but what surprised them was that the "cautious approach" did not help them park any better according to the Telegraph. Dr Claudi Wolf from Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany was the leader of the study and she said that these results confirmed that males have better spatial awareness and coordination than females. Furthermore, the study also revealed that males take more risks while driving than females, which will explain why most reckless drivers are male. The age old 'woman driver la' scoff seems to bear some truth, but Dr Claudi is quick to defend the female species by saying that "It only proves what previous studies about the spatial differences between men and women have shown." "Besides, it is not as if there was a massive failing by women. It is just about parking - not the triumph of men over women." Relax girls, males are worse at lots more important stuff...
  18. Im sure most of u kena before. No parking lots available, or the shop u wanna go is closed, etc etc. This is purely meant as a guide, so that other bros/sis can be prepared of non-grace timing/period carparks and to keep a lookout for better parking places. Don't come in here with your "can buy car but cannot pay parking". Thanks! :) Start the ball rolling: 1) Vivocity
  19. Kena my new ride at Golden Mile Complex carpark....now hospitalised for spraypainting and dent repair... Just wanted to share on some of the more "dangerous" carparks.... 1. Golden Mile Complex 2. Blk 303 MSCP (beside CCK Lot 1) 3. Blk 678 CCK Cres Anyone got any more to add??
  20. hello bros, in some carparks it is written on the board that night parking is 50cents per half an hour from 5pm to 10pm. is it ok to park in these carparks after 10pm? there's nothing stated there that says u cannot park there after 10pm. If it's ok to do so, the rates will still be the same after 10pm right? (which means u can use 2 $1 coupons for 2hrs of parking at night time there?)
  21. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ds_carpark.html Pity this 2 owner.. Hope the f***er gets caught.
  22. Realised that many drivers turn on headlight automatically upon entering any carparks, even if they are not covered up and are brightly lit up! Is it a old habit carry forward from yester-years? Were you given that piece of advice when you started driving? Just felt that it is not really necessary nowadays with most of the carparks as they are generally well illuminated. Really not logical and waste of energy. What do you think?
  23. Hi bros, just wanna your feed back on this issue.. Do you face problems especially at night, to find a parking lot in your own carpark? After that knowing that your slots have been taken up by cars that do not have season? Worst still, putting night coupon when your car park does not have night parking. That is what is happening to me and the rest of the car owners in my area. I find that we car season holders are forced to pay and park on double yellow lines and outside of a designated lot. If you were in our shoes, what will you do? Fyi, how i know the cars do not have season is becoz i see them at times getting summons and also 'kancong' when fatimah is in the area. I have already inform the parking enforcement via their hotlines but seems that they do not care also. Maybe anyone of u guys got friends who are parking attendent and want business? Hehe they may come here and get good business...
  24. i.e. if you reach a full carpark and there are a line of cars "waiting" for lots at the side you are not supposed to go infront of them... and must wait in line...
  25. Just to share with everyone and appreciate if you encounter those carparks that are not ready. To prep drivers especially those not regular cos they might be caught unaware and do not have sufficient cash/cash cards around. By ready, I would refer to either the ERP gantry up there for ages but you either have to slot your cashcard into the machine at point of entry/exit catching those drivers unaware or still the good old manual labour. 1) Tiong Bahru Plaza (to insert cashcard at machine upon entry) 2) Shaw Tower at Beach Rd (pay cash upon entry) 3) InContinential at Bugis (to insert cashcard at machine upon entry) 4) City Plaza (to insert cashcard at machine upon entry) 5) Orchard Towers (insert at both entry/exit)
