  1. Just my luck to have gotten rear ended by a M'sian Car this afternoon. Damage was minor when i looked at it immediately after accident, abit of scuff/scratch marks only, thot to myself can polish out so shouldn't be a problem. The guy was apologetic and i thot to cut him some slack and didnt ask for any compensation. But now i'm regretting that decision, cause once i got to my destination, i realised my reverse sensors are not working properly, randomly beeps and not accurate. Upon closer inspection at the rear, realised got some very small dents too. Plus when i drive over a hump, the area ard my left rear wheel seems to have a tok tok sound, didnt have it before, not sure what is causing it now. So asking for advice, should i try to claim insurance against the M'sian Car? Or LLST and pay my own? I know it's highly unlikely to have a successful claim for a M'sian car. But even if i report to try and claim? Will it still affect my NCB and premium next year if eventually i decide not to claim against my own insurance? Rear ended @43sec
  2. Another "collision" This time round the MPV driver culprit very balant and did a hit-&-run stunt even being stopped by the father of the victim. Best part is this joker ended at MBS. Rushing there to place bets perhaps? From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...clists-20121107 Effective penalties needed against motorists colliding with cyclists Published on Nov 07, 2012 I WAS cycling behind my son at 6.50am on a weekday when he was involved in a collision with a car - a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) - along Nicoll Highway at Republic Ave. A bus driver who was behind my son was quick to stop to offer assistance, but the MPV driver sped away. When I caught up with him, he denied that a collision occurred, and sped off when the lights turned green. I called 999 after trying the Traffic Police hotline without receiving a reply. The ambulance and the police came shortly, and medical aid was given to my son, who had bruises on his right arm and leg, and who was left with a partly damaged bicycle. No traffic policeman was dispatched to track down the driver and I was informed later that the driver and the car was found at Marina Bay Sands. The law does not do enough to protect cyclists, and the penalties are too light to deter errant drivers. The insurance will pay for the damage, and an errant driver gets off all too lightly. The fact that my son's injury was not severe should not mean that the penalty need be less punitive if the driver is found to have erred, and certainly not if he remains in denial and unrepentant about his role in an accident. 3. I AM POSTING ON BEHALF OF HWZ MEMBER "SPELL" Rear ended by Msia car, driver drove off!! On 6th Dec about 550pm, was driving along PIE towards Jurong on lane 3, almost reaching the slip road to BKE. All of a sudden, a Msia car (Proton Wira WJM373) swerved from the 2nd lane to behind me & banged me real hard. I noticed him from my rear wheel mirror because the traffic was very slow & I happen to see the mirror. My bluetooth earpiece got flung out from my ear, pillow on seat flung to front, spectacle case in compartment got flung out.. etc, luckily I did not bang the car in front. I was like stunned for at least 5 seconds before I recovered my senses. To keep long story short, I got down, saw the other driver, he said he was at fault & he said a few times that we should go make report. he was alone & I was alone. I took out my phone & took a few photos, then called my family to arrange to pick up my kids as I'll definitely be late. My rear bumper & rear hatch door stucked, exhaust pipe dislodged onto the road. His car front bumper dented & bonnet had popped up. I never expect his car to be able to move far. While talking on my phone, the driver said he will drive to side of road because causing obstruction, then discuss next course of action. After finish talking on my phone (less than a min) I turned around & realise that car is no where in sight at the road side !! Really buay steady I called up our friendly neighbourhood police centre, ask if they can help me keep a lookout for this car. Guess what, he told me to just go neighbourhood police post make report. I told him that car could have gone past the causeway by then, he told me TP will follow up. I give up. Next day I made a police report, was told TP will investigate (which I'm not even sure they will read the report at all), report at my insurance reporting centre etc. I was told at the reporting centre that most workshop in SG do not do 3rd party claims if the other party is Msia car, because very hard to claim from them even if we not at fault. Why so unfair to us? Furthermore in my case I do not have the other party particulars. I can only hope that driver will report to his insurance & our local police, though all else point to him purposely driving off shirking responsibility. Should I post this in EDMW, stomp, mycarforum or even Lowyat forum, maybe someone will recognise or know the driver. If anyone got info on that wira WJM373 or the driver, please email to me at spellxrye @ gmail.com . Thanks a lot. I really need advise, what can I do? The photo I took of his car & my car at the scene. my car: his car:
  4. lucky to be alive, yesterday evening at 5.45pm along kampung bahru rd, was raining and headlights on as usual during rainy weather, stopped at traffic lights beside the PSA distripark just after the church and school, which is incidentally is a school zone, a taxi was infront of me and had my foot on the brake pedal, while waiting for lights to change, looked at rear mirror and saw a bus, which was a kinglong brand tourist bus (same sized as a SBS bus) coming at my direction at a fast speed and wondered why the joker never slowed down as it was red light. it hit my car rear and the feeling of being hit at that speed and size of vehicle made my body feel like my organs also moved... those who have been in this situation know wat i mean.... the ashole ah tiong driving an ah tiong bus crashed into me and caused my vehicle to move forward and hit the taxi infront. the taxi rear bumper was hit by my front bumper license plate OPC seal, there was existing scratches on the taxi bumper and just slight damage to bumper. the taxidriver ensured his passenger was ok before came out to help me out of my vehicle and check if i was ok, the fu@%^king ah tiong was only interested to cover his ass and kept saying that the road was wet... raining sure wet la den dry isit....who ask him to speed at school zone area... after getting fu^%%& upside down left right front and centre by me and the taxi driver, i was in pain and groggy by the impact that i jus sat down at the kerb and later at the bus steps and left my bro and wife who worked nearby to handle the situation. the taxi driver left coz he told me his vehicle is only scratched at the back bumper but will come back to check on me , after dropping his passenger nearby coz my bro n wife had not arrived yet. after he came back and found out that i will be claiming from the bus insurance, he said he jus got back from 17 day mc and all of sudden his neck also pain and sure comfort taxi will want their back bumper to be replaced. my front bumper that hit his back only had a crack at the license plate holder and no damage or scratch or aniting.. even the LTA OPC seal was intact and not bent, but the back had turned into a hatchback from a saloon. lucky was not a picanto or R1 or 2 or motorcycle or else sure become roti prata... car now at authorized workshop and since was late evening and workshop closing. no replacement car given till tomorrow coz today public holiday. went to KTPH A&E and had high blood pressure and fever due to shock, thankfully xrays showed no internal bleeding or fractures but given medication and told to call ambulance if vomit during next few days, neck and back still getting more sore since yesterday. Going to workshop tomorrow to submit accident report and collect replacement car and need advise: 1. wat course of action needed next ,coz sure the taxi driver will try to take advantage 2. my back and neck still sore, do i need to go back to A&E or go to my own doctor? had to pay$ 90+ at KTPH, wat about the charges should i still need medical attention? can i claim from who? 3. will the bus insurance pay coz now if i were to sell car in future, sure value will fall coz been hit badly at the back? 4. do i need to send copy of accident report to TP coz the ah tiong is really a menace and needs to get off our roads before he kills anyone? 5. 1st time been involved in such a situation and do hope the bros n sis here can help with advise on what i asked and any other advise coz im at a loss and still in shock, as was planning a nice evening with family yesterday and today but nearly died or seriously injured. when we leave our homes each time, guess everything is in the hands of GOD, drive safe and im just so thankful to be alive....

  8. SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea's much hyped long-range rocket launch on Friday ended in apparent failure, South Korean officials said, dealing a blow to the prestige of the reclusive and impoverished state that defied international pressure to push ahead with the plan. North Korea said it wanted the Unha-3 rocket to put a weather satellite into orbit, although critics believed it was designed to enhance the capacity of North Korea to design a ballistic missile deliver a nuclear warhead capable of hitting the continental United States. A spokesman for the Defence Ministry in Seoul told journalists that the rocket had broken up and crashed into the sea a few minutes after launch. Officials from Japan confirmed the mission had failed, while ABC News cited U.S. officials saying it had failed, although there was no immmediate indication of where it fell. The rocket's flight was set to take it over a sea separating the Korean peninsula, with an eventual launch of a third stage of the rocket in seas near the Philippines that would have put the satellite into orbit. This was North Korea's second consecutive failure to get a satellite into orbit, although it claimed success with a 2009 launch and there was no comment on the launch from North Korea's official media. The Unha-3 rocket took off from a new launch site on the west coast of North Korea, near the Chinese border. The launch had been timed to coincide with the 100th birthday celebrations of the isolated and impoverished state's founder, Kim Il-sung, and came after a food aid deal with the United States had hinted at an easing of tensions on the world's most militarised border. 9. Yoz. want to share something and also to see got any advice anot. yesterday night was second time i kana rear-ended at complete stop at traffic lights. let me share.. 6 months ago, a BMW rear ended me at low speed while i was at complete stop at cuppage. driver come out declare no damage. throw me a name card and refuse to show me driving licence. not one word of sorry. smelt alcohol on his breath. die die say i no proof cuz no damage. it was so dark and he insist no damage. refuse my offer of stopping at somewhere bright to thorough check and test reverse sensor. very aggressively ask me to drive off not to hold up traffic. I drove off and call police cuz he smell alcohol. end of story. yesterday night at jalan kayu i complete stop at traffic lights. many seconds later felt a thud. preg wife and 2 yr old baby inside. all ok lucky. went out and lady driver keep saying sorry and offered to give me hp number. to call her if anything wrong. keep saying sorry. i check again. again no dents. I took a photo of her driving licence and also her car plate and exchanged hp number and drove off. she very concerned about if my family is ok. now the thing is this. in daylight, i notice a half centermeters paint chipped off and a last finger fingernail size shallow dent at bottom of bumper. and when she knock yesterday, kopi spill on seat and carpet and cup holding console! I can live with the chipped paint( but metal exposed) and 1cm square dent. so if i am not repairing, i do not think i want her to pay anything. but kopi kana really caused me a lot of trouble and time. I pour a lot of water on carpet and seat but still smell of coffee... haiz... very bad situation. because of her poor driving skills i kana so much inconvinence and the "damage" she caused I will not be repairing so will not be asking her to pay anything. but since paint chipped and metal exposed, can i ask her to buy me a spot paint marker to cover the exposed metal in case rust? but like that like very petty hor? spot paint marker how much huh?
  10. btw the parent company of Infiniti is Nissan so nissan owners can rejoice http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infiniti Infiniti (Japanese: インフィニティ, Infiniti?) is the luxury division of automaker Nissan. Infiniti officially started selling vehicles on November 8, 1989 in North America. Marketing operations have since grown to include the Middle East, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, China, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Infiniti began sales in additional European markets in late 2008. The marketing network for Infiniti-branded vehicles now includes over 230 dealers in over 15 countries.[1] Above: Sebastian Vettel poses next to the Infiniti 'FX Sebastian Vettel version' during the Frankfurt Motor Show on Sept 13. INFINITI calls its sponsorship of the Red Bull Racing (RBR) team "a long-term partnership that is more than stickers on a car". "As a premium and performance automotive brand, we studied various options to increase our brand awareness worldwide and strengthen our brand attributes," says Andreas Sigl, global director of Infiniti Formula One. Infiniti had picked F1 "to establish a global marketing platform" for its mid-term growth plan until 2016 because the glamorous motorsport offers the "geographic footprint in line with our strategic growth plan". As the carmaker was looking for a team with the same mindset and chemistry, Red Bull stood out because the Austrian team had entered F1 as the underdog. "We share this behaviour and continue to find great synergies between both brand partners," says Mr Sigl, who is in town for this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix. Infiniti is the luxury division of Nissan. The high-end marque will be launched in Singapore in January with Wearnes Automotive as its dealer. At the same time, Red Bull is powered by Renault engines, and the French carmaker has an alliance with Nissan. Infiniti's deal with Red Bull was announced in March and covers the 2011 and 2012 F1 seasons. Mr Sigl declines to say how much it costs but says the carmaker is "much more focused on value". "We compared this brand investment with other traditional marketing and advertising instruments and believe the RBR partnership will deliver a much higher return on investment and can be activated at many levels throughout the purchase cycle," he says. "We have only started this partnership six months ago and already see incredible value around all our markets worldwide." As for the technical aspect of the collaboration, Mr Sigl says Red Bull Racing is "quite excited about having Infiniti on board as automotive partner". "RBR does not have the same level of support as the traditional F1 teams like Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren etc, so Infiniti/Nissan can bring many areas of expertise to the team," he explains. On the other hand, Nissan is studying how it can support RBR in the area of Kers (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and battery technology. "Infiniti/Nissan has very solid experience and expertise in this area from our hybrid technology and the Nissan Leaf EV," he said. "And of course, there are many more areas for sharing, such as advanced materials, rapid prototyping, and collaborative business processes, for example." But that is the future. For now, the sponsorship is a success for Infiniti as Red Bull and driver Sebastian Vettel lead in both the constructors' and drivers' championships. Mr Sigl says: "When we signed the deal with Seb, he made a very wise statement. He said that the best advertising for Infiniti is when he stands on the podium. So far, we are not complaining." 11. SINGAPORE: The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has recorded its biggest loss in 40 years on the back of a strong Singapore dollar. MAS has recorded a net loss of S$10.9 billion for its fiscal year ended March 2011. This compared to a record net profit of S$10 billion posted last year. The central bank said excluding exchange rate effects, it achieved income and net capital gains totalling S$12.3 billion during the financial year ended March 2011. MAS disclosed these figures in its latest annual report released Thursday. The loss comes as the foreign exchange impact from the stronger Singapore dollar exceeded the interest, dividend and valuation gains on foreign assets held. Most of MAS's assets comprise official foreign reserves. These are invested in a diversified range of foreign currency assets. During the year, the Singapore dollar appreciated against most currencies including the US dollar, Euro and Sterling Pound, but weakened against the Yen. The total assets of the central bank, including the Currency Fund, grew by S$13.85 billion to S$299.75 billion in the financial year ended 31 March 2011. In 2010, MAS tightened its monetary policy as the economy strengthened. It shifted to a modest and gradual appreciation of the exchange rate policy band in April 2010. Further tightening was undertaken in October 2010 and April 2011 as growth became more entrenched and resource constraints more binding. MAS said the tighter monetary policy stance will ensure price stability over the medium term and keep growth on a sustainable path. In the chairman's message of the annual report, Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said that "the ongoing sovereign debt crisis in the European periphery poses significant risks - both to global economic growth and financial stability." Mr Shanmugaratnam added that Singapore faces a changed financial landscape globally following the crisis of 2008-2009, and that the regulatory approach in Singapore will "evolve, whilst retaining the close monitoring and supervision of financial institutions that ensures that our financial system remains resilient and stable." In the capital markets MAS implemented several safeguards for investors such as guidelines on the form and content of the Product Highlights Sheet. MAS said it will also implement changes to fund management regulation, aimed at raising the quality of players and enhancing regulatory oversight to enable sustained growth of the industry. Going forward Mr Shanmugaratnam said MAS will continue to support the development of Singapore as an international financial centre "trusted for its high standards of regulation, integrity and efficiency." - CNA/cc

  13. Today, taking my usual route on BKE (towards city) to work around 7.30am. saw a van being rear-ended by a car on lane 1 of the expressway. wonder will the van be able to claim full from the car? the issue is whether the car driver can defend himself or pass on some liabilities to the van since the van is technically not legal to be on lane 1? BKE in the morrning is such a hazardeous place. Trailers, malaysian buses, motorbikes zooming in and out of lanes. once the traffic builds up, all these trailers and buses, vans, lorries "automatically" move to the first lane and cause the traffic to worsen....
  14. Hi bros, I was looking around the 2nd hand auto-carmart when I realised that some cars, such as Camry or Mazda do not have have the imprinted 2L or 2.4L on their rear, In fact, there is only the brand's logo. Does this meant that the car had been rear-ended be4? You may take for eg Camry should have 2.4 and Mazda should have 2.0 inprinted behind. Appreciate your kind advice in advance.
  15. How long does it take to solve an accident??? any idea?? Got involoved in chain accident on July. My car kena sandwiched by a car and a taxi on the back...Thank
  16. Geez... sianz... my vios rear has been rear-ended, in my absence.. The right side of the bumper has dented in, quite a nasty one. A quick visual check with the metal chassis does not reveal any structural damage. The plastic cover for the right signal is broken though. However, the signals and even the reverse sensor are in good working condition. Apart from the bumper (right rear end), there is no visible damage at all. Can any kind soul advise me on the damage I should be looking at? I am not intending to replace the bumper. Is it possible to heat the bumper and push it back? :( Sorrie, I do not have the pixs at the moment. I will be uploading them tomorrow. Really appreciate the kind help and advice. I am looking at sending my car for repair on Monday...
  17. I was rear ended on Saturday night. Which workshop should I go for reliable and satisfactory accident repair ? Comfort , STAR or my PI car warranty workshop ? Thanks in advance for your advice.

  19. Okay, today had no choice but to drag myself to change tyre as my spare tyre finally put in star appearance yesterday I went to Automotive Technology hoping to try BB as I saw what I like and since value for money, why not. Luckily they closed at 3pm. Had a hard time finding the place though. Thank goodness for a friend who brought me there as my GPS aka Street Directory is outdated (2002 ) Upon reaching there, I told Desmond my requirements (no upsizing of tyre, budget less than $100) even though alot of other thread designs caught my eyes. So I asked for BB and he also recommended Fed Formoza FD2 to me. Must say the service there is not bad. They take the time to clean before mounting the new tyres. But, I want to find out if anyone has tried BB (don't think Genie is on BB yet) and asked for reviews.
  20. April this year, I was driving with my wife alongside NP towards Clementi, just after we passed SIM, there is a gentle slope down ahead. As it is raining beforehand, the roads are kinda slippery. So when a Cefiro in front jam brake due to traffic light, I did so too but to my horror, my whole car skipped and sway a bit before it stopped, just inches away from that cefiro I have to admit, my brakes are no good at all (COE car) and very quickly, my wife and I decided that we should go and look for a new car. We see no point replacing/ repairing the brakes as it has been serviced before. As my COE ride can fetch me almost 16K and I have halved the loan amount. We decided that maybe it's time to change. We dropped by at STS around 6.30pm. FYI, they closed at 6pm. The SE remaining was attending to another customer, we thought it is weird why nobody attend to us, maybe we dress rather sloppy. Anyway that SE walked over and chatted with us, allow us to see/ touch/ feel the model. Give us his contact and some pricelist. I am impressed because he bother to attend thou it is after showroom hours. A week later I came down for the drive-test and 2 weeks after the test-drive, I collected my ride from that showroom. So what is your experience? Share how we ended up in the showroom and bought your current/ previous ride.
  21. Normally in this type of cases. Who will bear the responsibilities? The SE or Driver? http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost2676.aspx
