  1. https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/south-korea-to-ban-about-20000-bmw-vehicles-after-engine-fires Singapore BMW owners be aware. SEOUL (REUTERS) - South Korea's transport ministry said on Tuesday (Aug 14) that it has banned some 20,000 BMW vehicles from the streets amid mounting public fears about engine fires. The ban took effect at midnight on Tuesday. The driving ban comes after 27 engines went up in flames between January and July, which prompted BMW’s Korea unit to apologise last week and issue a recall of 106,000 diesel vehicles - including the 520d model - from Aug 20. Amid public concerns over safety, the government order affects about 20,000 BMW cars that are part of the recall but yet to receive safety checks, according to the transport ministry. "I am asking owners of the BMW cars subject to the recall to actively cooperate to prevent bigger accidents, despite your inconvenience," Transport Minister Kim Hyun-mee told a press conference. Those who own the affected vehicles can drive for safety checks, the ministry said, adding that the ban is intended for quicker safety checks rather than punitive action against the owners. Officials at the German automaker identified the root cause as defects in the exhaust gas re-circulation system, while the South Korean government is conducting a separate probe into the case and planning to take legal action if necessary. The recall order would be effective as soon as owners of the affected cars receive a mail notice, as early as Aug 15, the transport minister said.

  3. Remember the news that the 95 year old Ah mah, former 红头今 who committed suicide? Internet people keep saying she committed suicide because of financial hardship and do not want to burden her children. Turn out to be untrue! Wanbao clarified that the web media misquoted and mistranslated the wanbao reports by adding their own interpretation of Ah mah's suicide by stating that Ah mah's family is suffering from financial hardship and she dont want to burden the family with healthcare costs. Wanbao added that it reserves legal rights to sue that web media. So turn out that Ah mah's family is actually well to do and had a dedicated maid to look after the Ah mah. But old people have the traditional mindset of not wanting to burden their family ..... :( [bigcry] ----- https://www.facebook.com/notes/kall-silva/her-name-is-mdm-lu-dai-hao/10151817917051344 A fellow Singaporean passed away on 11 Sep 13. She migrated to Singapore at the age of 17 from Canton, spent the bulk of her life working as a Samsui woman, and passed on at the age of 95, leaving behind a big family, all saddened by her sudden and shocking demise. The media, both mainstream and online, have focused on the fact that her passing was a suicide. What's worse, some quarters have seized on her demise and made huge leaps of guesswork to suggest that she was forced to take her life because of financial burden, that the government does not help the poor and elderly and that her is emblematic of uncaring governance. In so doing, crass assumption like "not wanting to burden the family with hospital bills" have deeply wounded the family because, by simple association, they too are seen as uncaring and obliquely responsible for her death. It's time for all the zealots and self-righteous to stop making use of this tragedy for their own agendas. None of us have any right to claim that she took her life because of this or that reason. None of us have the right to dishonour her featuring in the National Day Rally as now an irony of some imagined betrayal by the government. I believe she was truly proud to be honoured on our National Day, to tell us of how our pioneers toiled, suffered and build this home. We have no right to turn her into any kind of symbol for our selfish grievances. She is not your mother. She is the mother of her own children who are undoubtedly still grieving over her sudden departure. My heart goes out to them, caught up unwillingly in this swirl of mischevious media glare, while trying to heal and to move on with their lives. Let them grieve in peace. A fellow Singaporean passed away on 11 Sep 13. She, like many others of her generation, helped build Singapore to what it is today through quiet fortitude and sheer determination. Let us remember her gently with respect and grace. Her name is Mdm Lu Dai Hao (陆带好).

He already bought some previously so tot of buy a little bit more. It was priced at $1 per 100g. He took about 500g (est) and went to the counter for payment. The guy told him to choose another 5 pcs, FOC. When he turn his head to take another 5 pcs. The counter guy grabbed many pcs and put inside his plastic bag. When asked tat guy, he say he is giving 200g FOC. Then he weighed and told my fren $20! My fren say he dun wan so many and asked the counter guy to put back but that guy insisted its not a lot. It was very crowded so my fren jus forget it and paid $20. Be careful when you guys buying from them.
  12. Was back at my mscp last night when i reached the 2nd floor, this friendly (not FT) car washer signal to me if i wanna park as another car was leaving the lot (my mscp is always very full and have to park until 5th - 6th floor at around 8+pm). So i park in and the he approached me to ask if i wanna wash my car. He quoted $35 per month wash every mon to fri and per wash $5, and even show his car washing permit. Seeing him always around my mscp washing other cars so i gave him a chance for per wash immediately he asked for another dollar for kopi money, so i gave him. He was so appreciative and give me a pat on my back. The next day when was back to my car, 1 wiper is up but my car is not touched at all, the coat of grime and dust is still on it, the rain mark still on the windows. The mud water mark still at the door. Was so bloody pissed but too bad was back late after work and didn't get to see him. I will sure confront him and F him big time.
  13. Dear Sister, Brother, Auntie, Uncle, Recently I received a parking summon from URa which I wrote an appeal letter to tell them the car was not on the road at the time of offence. But they revert stating that their officer follow SOP de so damn such my car was there at the time of offence! WTF!! The offence place was at ICA buliding there, and the offence timing I WAS WORKING. My car was park at my company compound and I'm the only 1 who got the car key. I sent another letter to tell them to show me more solid proof eg: pixs or something like that I LL go pay up, else it's really not justifiable to pay something I didn't do..

ALL NO PROBLEM... till one fine day i had just enjoyed my favourite katong laksa and the sunny asked me for help to jump start his car... wasnt a chio bu but a middle aged man who was helpless cause nobody helped him... had a galfrd with me so wanna act helpful... haha... i connected the cables... he started his car and thanked me and i drove off.... the next few days i realised there were 'icing' on my terminals... never had them before... could it be the jump start that caused it... my batt died the following month... it had lived approx 1.5 years... i had to get another batt to scrap the car so i picked one up from my regular WS... got an abandoned for 6months plus panasonic MF batt and it worked fine... WOW.... my mech said Amaron batts had a tendency to get icing on the terminals... true? the present car i'm driving has a Green Amaron Batt now at almost 2years and it still seems fine... dying soon maybe but no signs watsoever... hmmm... i wanna go up north next week so wanna get a new batt... So is Amaron really good or not? wanna get a new batt now but want a good one that last.... suggestions much appreciated...
