Videos of traffic police checking child passengers’ heights stir road rules debate GVGT It’s normal to see police officers scanning Singapore’s roads at night for speeding motorists or drunk drivers. But to halt vehicles for checks on child passengers’ heights? Not so much. Videos showing traffic police officers stopping drivers in broad daylight to measure the heights of child passengers in their cars surfaced on Facebook yesterday. The unusual sight of officers holding measuring tapes against kids who appeared to be around six years old as the adults looked on had piqued the curiosity of many, with all three clips that were posted racking up over 200,000 views accumulatively. It’s unclear where the checks were taking place. Viewers who commented on the post, shared by Facebook user Huang Jiaxing, pointed out that the officers’ actions seemed to be connected to child safety rules on the road. Those below the height of 1.35m are required in Singapore to use the child seat or approved adjustable seat belts to lower the risk of accidental injury. Taxis, however, are exempted from this requirement as it is considered not “reasonable or practical” for parents to carry child seats wherever they go. But a taxi driver could be fined S$120 and given three demerit points if he or she fails to ensure that the children are in the rear seat. If convicted in court, taxi drivers could be fined up to S$1,000 or jailed for up to three months. These rules have been around at least since 2011 but are rarely seen being enforced by the traffic police. Coconuts Singapore has reached out to the police for more details on why the checks on child passengers are taking place only now. Meanwhile, netizens praised authorities for their “good move” on the apparent efforts to ensure child safety on the roads.

Just having a random thought about getting blind-spot mirrors(round button-like) and technically it seems like a good device/aid to have. But i'm just wondering if it really does help for the lookout given the small area used on your side mirror? It seems like nobody uses them at all.

Any workshop that does spot spray paint at a good price ?

Got a few scratches which I've touched up but now it looked even worse. Is there any workshop (preferably) in the West that I can go to sand and spray on that particular portion? Biggest scratch is abt 50 cents coins. My ride is pearl white so I hope they can mix the correct colors. I saw several workshop at Alexandra village near Queensway shopping centre. Anyone can recommend? Thanx in advance. -
There seems to be no thread on blind spot sensor system, so I thought I start it so we all can learn from one another. This thread is for discussion on where to get one, not whether it's useful or not (that's a whole topic by itself ;-) ) It seems to me it's not easily available in Singapore. I have not found a shop that supplies any model. Today I was doing a right turn at junction of Bedok North Road / Bedok Reservoir Road towards PIE at around 810am. Red lights and right turn signal was in my favour and a speeding honda edix (i think) in opposite direction zoomed past fast around 2 secs after red. I was slowly moving off as my view of the oncoming traffic was blocked by a turning big sand truck (on my left) and luckily i didn't rush. I assume my car will be total loss and me + my pregnant wife dead if we had collided. You could have orphaned our little 3 year old gal. KNNBCCB. If you are in this forum, I hope you DON'T REPEAT THIS STUNT AGAIN. Anyway I got video... will review tonight and submit to TP (although i do not think that the license plate can be captured) BUT..... that junction got junction eye. Drive safe guys and gals.

You might be able to find all kind of douchebag driver whenever you are driving these day. I guess is the macro effect (the weather, fuel prices, food we eat, beer we drink, and the frustrating public transport we encountered) Just to name a few of them that you might wanna avoid and go near them. 1) The music is so loud that even you can hear when you are driving pass them. They probably can't even hear you... 2) They have "alot of mods" in a bread and butter car, Not sure if they will head to pasir gudang for some race... 3) Don't know how to park No need to say. Confirm a douchebag 4)Tailgating expert They really think they are from so car aerobatics team or smth.... 5) 99% of Taxi driver. Not all are that bad. But i always encountered a few that is very "mischievous" one... Come on and list more characteristic of an douchebag driver!!! Drive cautious everyone!!! Especially during this festive season!!!

Hi all, anyone using this as shown in the picture? Am thinking of getting a pair for my car particularly for my left side mirror, as my right side i can just tilt my head and take a glance quickly. Left side abit difficult as i will need to turn my head entirely to check for blind spot. I suppose Autobacs have it. Any particular brand/type to recommend? How do we 'attach' this blind spot mirror onto the side mirror by the way?

First it was the Land Transport Authority. Now the Housing Board is installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to deter illegal parking. It plans to put them up near service roads and loading bays around HDB carparks in areas including Bedok, Toa Payoh and Sengkang. Motorists parking illegally will face fines ranging from $25 to $200, depending on vehicle type. I see it all the time: people queuing up at the counter while their car is being filled up. When it's their turn to pay and the car is not ready, the cashier will signal for the second chap to move up. When their car is ready, they will be first in the queue. When you have a few people doing it, it sometimes causes congestion and confusion; and everyone is delayed due to the crowd. I only queue up after my car is ready. Am I being stupid or what?

If you see a car park on the same spot for 2 weeks and have like 7 total of summon tickets you think there is a need to report it or do anything about it ? It's in a HDB multi-story carpark

Hi Gurus, need help. Anyone with experience in why TP issue or not issue summon on the spot? I rented a lorry to help a friend move house. I thought the front cabin can seat 3 pax due to the seats design. Ok thats my fault for not finding out. Anyway, 3 of us sat there and kenna stopped by TP. TP copy my IC particulars and say summon will be sent to me later. Tried to ask TP give chance but failed haha. Ok I'm not complaining, just that I am curious why didn't he issue on the spot? I always thought traffic offence caught on the spot will be issued immediately. Can anyone enlighten? -
