  1. It seems, in the civil service, a lousy scholar who so long he don't screw up big time, will end up in a higher position than an excellent farmer (non-scholar), even if the farmer is better and more productive than the scholar. How meritocratic is this? Scholars can easily get back-to-back promotions and continually top level performance grading, while a farmer will never be considered for back-to-back promotion (no matter how good) and worse, performance grading after every promotion is a default 'C'. Again, how meritocratic is this? If these scholars are put on an even footing with the farmers, same starting point, same running equipments ..., I dare say the results at the finishing line will be astonishing. Comments?

  3. For those who buy and ship from USA, I have ordered from vpost, borderlinx. Now I try comgateway and it's absolutely the worst. My 1.6kg item was charged 4.5kg volumetric weight (understandable as others also use vol weight). The charge amounts to USD40. Now their shipment is the worst. Item received by them on 22 Sep. I paid and was charged. Website say it is shipping on 26 Sep. It's 4 days passed and nothing has happened. Whoever says comgateway is good, might want to think again. Borderlinx has probably the best service, if you can find promo code, it helps defray the cost. Vpost is improving. Sometimes you get 10% off, but you need to the front page for credit card promo. Never have I such a bad experience as with comgateway. Comgateway is just...
  4. Not sure if anyone of you uses the business internet banking platform of OCBC, it is not half as user friendly as the personal internet banking. Firstly, the business banking website can't even be opened using a smart phone browser, you can only do it via a desktop computer or a tablet. Once you enter the website on a desktop, on top of the user id, they will make you key in an organisational id before the password and once all that is done, you need to key in an otp generated by the token. They do not even have an option for them to send the otp to your phone. I have feedbacked for them to improve their internet banking eons ago but they are still sitting back and doing nothing. As for their phone app, it is crap and always hangs.
  5. A few days back I had a registered article being sent to me via singpost. So i called in on the friday evening at roughly 4pm and was told item was out for delivery with courier should arrive anytime before 6. So i sent a family member to wait at the door in case the courier arrived with the door open. Waited and waited but courier never came. I later checked the letterbox downstairs and found the registered article slip. This meant the lazy courier didnt even bother coming up and just chose to throw the slip into the letterbox. Standard practice to prove that they did come up to deliver at your door is by slipping under your door step. Not in your letterbox. I understand that this has occured to many and not myself and there are many complaints made but no action has been taken by singpost. In the end i had to go down to the post office the next day which was already overwhelmed with people and orders. Poor counter aunty had to do so much more work because of a lazy courier. Imagine this multiplied by so many cases.
  6. Bought a Sweet Dream Mattress and after a few years it developed noise from the spring when compressed. Send it back to factory for repair and was assured that if it happens again, they will replace with a new one. Fast forward a few years later the same problem arise again. Called them up and they came down, checked and said its a factory defect which i would have to bear transport cost of $107 this time round. so guys remember, never sleep on a Sweet Dream Mattress that gives you Nightmare... 烂床!!!!!!!!
  7. have never eat out for quite a number of years and this year decided to do so in a restaurant at Boon Keng. seriously, i went tothe near by mac to buy a fillet o fish to chill myself after the whole course. For something that cost 450 bucks, it is so lousy that i would have chosen to trade the whole course for a plate of 炒粿条。 seriously i kid you not. Ok, rant over....time to go toilet and let the asssssss do the rest and forget about it.

  9. You might be able to find all kind of douchebag driver whenever you are driving these day. I guess is the macro effect (the weather, fuel prices, food we eat, beer we drink, and the frustrating public transport we encountered) Just to name a few of them that you might wanna avoid and go near them. 1) The music is so loud that even you can hear when you are driving pass them. They probably can't even hear you... 2) They have "alot of mods" in a bread and butter car, Not sure if they will head to pasir gudang for some race... 3) Don't know how to park No need to say. Confirm a douchebag 4)Tailgating expert They really think they are from so car aerobatics team or smth.... 5) 99% of Taxi driver. Not all are that bad. But i always encountered a few that is very "mischievous" one... Come on and list more characteristic of an douchebag driver!!! Drive cautious everyone!!! Especially during this festive season!!!

  12. Can anyone explain why a Ferrari spins that easily with wide tyres ? My guess are : 1) Engine Horse Power against car Weight is poorly unbalance ? 2) Front Wheel Drive over-powerful against precise steering control ? 3) Poor Driving Skill of this Super Sport Car ?
  13. [shocked] One thing leads to another and before you know it, a simple cheating act over a tampered $1 parking coupon landed all 4 young men in hot soup and they kena fined a grand total of $19,000. 14. Sometime back, not too long ago, our authorities call our local scholars who break their bonds or leave singapore QUITTERS BUT what about free scholarships given to foreign studies (very generously) - a significant portion of them quit and did not pay back - authorities write off as lost SO WHAT DO YOU CALL THESE PEOPLE why the authorities dont "brand" them like the locals for your information some of friends were force to quit by PSC because they refuse them to pursue higher studies and were made to pay damages in tune of 10% interest per year in addition, the authorities have double standards calling people quitters when they go overseas and give free scholarships arent they causing people to quitters of their own country too i can never understand our government i am really trying

  16. Just done a servicing with CL Garage @Blk 5035 Ang Mo Kio Ind. Park 2 #01-369. Let me share my lousy experience below:- Selected the Multilight OWS package which comes with Performance 3 in 1, and iridium spark plug. After the engine flush and old oil drained, when the mechanic was about to pour the new engine oil in, noticed that the bottle was already opened, sticker was very worned out, and the bottle was very dirty, my impression was the bottle was re-use and starts to wonder if the engine in it, was OWS or not... Then he told me everything was done. I asked the boss, Eric if he had added the injector cleaner and the velcosity stabliser, he said he will do it later, and I proceed to make payment. When we walked out, he told me I can drive off. I was puzzled and asked him what about the last 2 bottles? He told me already poured in, together with the engine oil. Which was b-------t as I was standing there the whole time and didn't see it! He then told me that he had pre-mixed with the engine oil to save time?!?! I asked him to show me where the bottles are and he can only show me the engine flush, he couldn't show me the other 2 bottles... I was very furious and walked away, thinking back I should have insisted on a refund on the last 2 bottles of addictives, but I guess it's too late now. Worst thing is I'm not sure what type of oil is in my engine now... Not cooking oil I hope! Felt really cheated and just wanna advice all bros to avoid this shop at all costs.
  17. I believe many has seen the clip posted on youtube about this auntie "TAKING" a long time parking her Lexus RX 900???? It was really entertaining and I couldnt stop laughing listening to the guy KPKB in the background.Hence, it occurs to me that I have seen many P plated drivers driving big cars like MPV,CRV ,cammry etc etc .... am not sterotyping the particular gender butof such case many are woman. Talking about driving big expensive cars, not so often can see woman driving small car like piccanto,CHERRY QQ, etc etc.... They are rather picky about the ride too???? Maybe someone can share with me his/her views too cos it is onli my ten cent point of view. No offence worr. If one know his/her driving skills not there, dun buy bbig big cars especially when parking, it will post a greater chanllenge.

  19. As above or is Zimbabwe team arrogant ???...... http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_564709.html '5-0 Minimum' Confident Zimbabwe football team boast of thrashing Singapore in opener By Terrence Voon The Zimbabwean boys' football team being greeted by their chef de mission Busi Chindove (right) upon their arrival at the YOG village yesterday. -- PHOTO: SPH-SYOGOC/KEVIN LIM RIDING on the team bus with Zimbabwe's Youth Olympic Games football squad is like facing a pack of hungry reporters. The questions just keep coming. How tall are the players from the Singapore football team? How much do iPhones cost here? And is it true that chewing gum is banned in Singapore? For a good 40 minutes yesterday morning, the tables were turned on this reporter when he hitched a ride with the 15-year-olds from Changi Airport to the YOG Village at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). After a gruelling 11-hour flight from Johannesburg, the assumption was that most of the 18-member squad would be napping. At the very least, they should be bleary-eyed. Wrong on both counts. The boys simply could not sit still, clambering over seats and pressing their faces against the bus windows for a closer view of landmarks like the Singapore Flyer and the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort. Questions about local cuisine, the weather, shopping and the standard of Singapore football dominated discussions as the bus wound its way across the island. Later, it was revealed that this was the first time that any of them had been outside of their country. Just 24 hours ago, most of them had never even been on a plane. 'Your country is beautiful,' said captain and top scorer Ackim Mpofu, his eyes locked on the sea and greenery off East Coast Park. 'And there are so many trees on the road. I've never seen anything like this before.' These days, Zimbabwe - a landlocked country in southern Africa - is better known for its political and economic troubles than for its natural flora and fauna. Their football story is just as underwhelming. Up till 2004, the Warriors - as the national football team are known back home - had not qualified for the African Cup of Nations. The World Cup remains a distant dream and, just two weeks ago, the chief executive of their football association was suspended over match-fixing allegations. But despite their lack of pedigree, the Zimbabwean boys are not short on confidence. After confirming that the Singapore players - whom they will meet in Friday's opening match - were not physically bigger than themselves, the boasts came thick and fast. 'If they're the same size as us, then we've already won,' said striker Mncedisi Gumede. Added playmaker Lucky Ndlela: 'We're going to win 5-0 - minimum.' When informed that Singapore had beaten Tottenham Hotspur's youth side 3-2 in a friendly match, the boys were unimpressed. Never mind that they have trained together for only six months, or that the 39 goals they racked up during their five warm-up games came against youth squads in the country's domestic league. The Zimbabweans are here to win - though they do have more than just sports on their minds. Making new friends, checking out prices of branded sportswear and sampling local cuisine are on their YOG checklist. And, if they do end up winning the competition, a handsome reward is in store for the boys back home. 'I can't say what it will be, but we will reward our athletes if they do well,' said coach Dumaza Dube. 'The aim is for our footballers to gain experience and groom them for our future World Cup and Olympic squads.' Coming from a country with an unemployment rate of about 90 per cent, many of the boys are hoping the YOG will be their springboard for a lucrative future in professional football. 'We want to make Africa proud, especially after the bad World Cup for the African teams,' said midfielder Devylin Hencil. 'We're going to start by beating Singapore.'

  22. Hi, I hardly watched TV drama but somehow joined in the fun in this festive season. I was 'urghhh' by the recent TV series: Your Hand In Mine..... Its OK to bring back those 'no-so-funny' phrases like 'tak bolek tahan', or "chee dan chao yah dan" . . . . Its also OK to have Celest to show-off her shoulder & long legs by wearing bare tops, short skirt & tight uniform, as a teacher . . . . . But its NOT OK for a teacher to challenge a student for a physical fight just to bet with him not to go for LAN games (last night's). I'm sure those whom in the education industry will agree. This message, from a 7pm family TV series, from Mediacorp is getting very very irresponsible & ridiculous . . . . . sigh
