  2. Hi. I would like to seek some recommendations here for halal food. Cafe style or buffet style both fine. This is because my department regularly organise team lunch/dinner and we are running out of great halal food ideas for our muslim colleagues.Pax size between 4 to 6. Appreciate all suggestions/ideas. If do a quick search google there's too much options and mostly paid ads. Would prefer genuine recommendations. I'll start here with three I personally feel is quite good Landmark Buffet http://www.landmark.com.sg/ T-Bob Corner https://www.tbobscorner.com/ The Dim Sum Place http://www.thedimsumplace.sg/ Thank you everyone for your contributions in advance

  4. As per topic. I'm exploring cafe business as viable business? All along, I love to work with food and always felt happy if a customer enjoys the food. It may not be a full menu. Even a cafe that serves pastry and drinks will be nice too. What are the things I need to know. How to spot a good location. Look for buy overs.

  8. Hope you MCFers are having a great start for the New Year. So, I will be straightforward and jump right in to my point: I am waiting to get my new car (Mazda CX-3) and as with many car lovers, I am thinking of taking the family to a nice location for the first photoshoot with the car (paiseh ah, I took first-day and last-day photos for all the cars I ever owned). For this baby crossover, I am thinking of somewhere rustic looking, so I want to share this list with you, 14 nice ulu places for photo and kopi: http://thesmartlocal.com/read/road-trip-singapore It's not a full-fledge SUV so I am going to rustic locations and not hardcore off roads. Hahaha! Any other recommendations will be MUCH APPRECIATED. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Benji
  9. Hello Kitty cafe in Singapore to shut down in February 2019 https://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/food/hello-kitty-cafe-in-singapore-to-shut-down-in-february-2019. SINGAPORE - Singapore's first Hello Kitty-themed cafe, which opened amid much fanfare more than two years ago at Changi Airport's Terminal 3 arrival hall, will be closing early next year. "They say all good things come to an end, and Hello Kitty Orchid Garden will be shutting its doors for good come February 2019," said the cafe in a Facebook post on Friday (Oct 12). It added in a statement that its last day of operations will be on Feb 8 next year. Responding to queries from The Straits Times, Ms Fiona Chin, assistant manager for marketing at Europa Specialty Restaurant, which owns and operates the cafe, said the decision to close the cafe comes with the end of the company's licence and partnership with Sanrio, the Japanese company which owns the Hello Kitty Brand. She added that there are no plans to relocate the cafe, which will be closed permanently. As for whether there will be any Hello Kitty cafes in Singapore in future, she declined to comment. "We would like to express gratitude and appreciation to all the fans and supporters of the cafe. We are humbled by the support and look forward to bringing our customers more exciting F&B themes and concepts,” said Ms Chin. The eatery, the world's first 24-hour Hello Kitty cafe, drew hundreds of fans at its opening in May 2016, with some queueing up hours before it opened. Its Hello Kitty-inspired dishes include waffles in the shape of the iconic feline character, as well as smoked salmon sandwiches, spicy dried shrimp sambal pasta and frozen yogurt. In July this year, the cafe also announced the launch of ice-cream mooncakes featuring the character.. To mark its departure, the cafe will be throwing four tea parties in December. Tickets to the party, sold at $138 for a pair, include canapes, gelato as well as limited-edition Hello Kitty merchandise. The sessions, which will be held at the cafe, will also feature games, quizzes and lucky draws. The Straits Times has contacted the cafe for more details on why it is closing and whether it is relocating elsewhere.

  13. So I had a busy morning and went for a late luch at a cafe nearby. They had set lunches on offer. Western set was Spaghetti with white sauce, Asian set was Teochew porridge with braised duck and a weird Fushion set I can't recall. After some deliberation, I chose the spaghetti. After waiting 10 mins, the waitress came over an plonked a bowl of Yong Tau Hoo on my table. When I pointed out my order was wrong, she explained the spaghetti sauce was ruined by cross contamination so on their own initiative, the bought a bowl of yong tau hoo from the kopitiam next door to replace it. I was gobsmacked and furious. I asked the waitress why I can't choose from the menu again if my first choice cannot be fufiled and she said I don't understand. This cafe and the kopitiam next door are owned by the same boss. What's more, both dishes have noodles That explanation was so ridiculous I am demanding to see the boss. I am posting this topic as I wait. WTF
  14. the cafe is not even open and received so many negative comments in their facebook, i hope they are just joking and clarify it as a prank

The last time I had a meal at Han's was in 2007. Was at Novena Square today and saw a branch there, so decided to give it a try. They still have set meals and they have also expanded their menu abit more. But the food was so so. The price however has increased by 30%.
