  1. utterly disappointed with HDB (whats new?!) Long story short: collected BTO flat keys Feb 2016, punggol along waterway area recently spotted master bedroom toilet door starting to split at the edges from the bottom. first noticed in July 2017. called HDB and was informed past warranty period. nothing can be done. gave me contractor's contact for quote, contractor bo huh me. fine few days ago, spotted common toilet door starting to split at the edges from the top. emailed into HDB feedback. received call from the same officer who spoke to me the first time and regurgitated the same "out of warranty" story. when i refused to budge, another lady spoke to me and said it may be due to the owners not doing proper maintenance and due to usage issues. seriously? how to use until the edges split? bang the door daily as a hobby? if its only one door, fine, i suay. now its both doors. obviously its quality issues! we topup for optional components for inferior products! kaos. (no idea why after attaching the picture was rotated) any bros encountered anything similar and managed to get HDB do something about the issue? can share? im so sorry for starting in the wrong section.. how can i move it to non-car related! sorry!!

  4. Hi all, May urge every MCF members here to educate their friends, colleagues, kids, relatives, spouse, in-laws, etc when come to opening car doors. Kindly tell them to open slowly and not to hit their doors onto the cars parked beside them. This is really an act of being considerate and civilised, and such values should start from simple acts such as this. Many car owners suffers unnecessary dents, dings, scuffs, scratches, etc all because of inconsiderate people when opening their car doors. It is not difficult to open slowly and avoid banging their doors onto the car parked beside. If everyone can do this mindfully, our driving stress will cut down a notch because we know we have considerate drivers around us who will take care of our parking environment. Thanks and please spread the word.
  5. Hi all, I check through the forum for this, but could not find a thread. For the repair of car door dings, which workshop would you recommend for good quality at reasonable prices? Most important can collect the car within a day. I have about 4-5 car door dings, went down to Revol grooming and they quoted me $1000 ($250 x 4 door panels). They could not do spot repair, and they say they have to paint the whole door. I thought that is overkill. If you have good recommendation, please post here or PM me. Thanks
  6. no more sponsor for diaper, milk powder, plastic surgery, travel packages, etc.....
  7. Hi, My car's left signal light stays on when I lock the doors with the remote key. I have to unlock and lock again to make the signal light turn off. This problem only happens intermittently. I am afraid if I forgot to make the signal light goes off, it will drain the battery. Anyone has any idea why this problem occurs? Rdgs.
  8. anyone got recommendation for multi-folding doors ? what $$ am I looking at for say between 8 to 10 feet long of door space ?
  9. I was inside my car after parking it in a proper lot. Off the engine and opened the door while I gathered my things. And out of no where, a lady said "how can he open the doors like that this is a walkway". I turned back and looked, she was walking to the next space looking frustrated and kept staring at me like I did something wrong to her. All these while I was sitting in the drivers seat. She looked 30+ with a 6+ year old girl. And then I thought to myself, this is a walkway? I got out and look, ok, it was a walkway behind my car. I just continued gathering my things, closed the door and went on my way. Look at the pics, I don't know what u guys will think. But to me, no big deal to just cross at the next car right? And I also did not know there is a walkway behind. So in your opinion, do u think I've done something wrong?

  11. Hi everybody, I have this problem with my car on the right door that create a wind noise when I am driving at around 100km/hr. I understand from some people saying that by pasting sound proofing strip it will remove the sound. But I checked my car. And I feel the black strip of rubber that is suppose to insulate the car from noise still look very new. Is it going to work by pasting on top of it? Any bros here can recommend me a place to troubleshoot or do up the door insulation. I know that a company S***** is charging $40 for the door. I am comtemplating to go there to do if it really can solve my noise problem. Any commends?thanks
  12. recently installed this remote and alarm system. no manual given. 4 stupid buttons which i don't really understand top button is to LOCK doors without sound. left button is LOCK doors with beep beep sound. right button is UNLOCK doors with beep beep sound. bottom button also LOCK doors without sound. can't understand y the top and bottom button is the same. i can't silent unlock my doors if i didn't silent lock my doors but anyway once i on engine, step on brakes, it will lock the doors. i asked the shop how to disable. he only know how to tell me it's a safety feature, very good. didn't even answer my question. Anyone knows if there's any button combination i can press to disable locking of doors upon stepping on brakes? Don't need it at all cos no kids in car.
  13. Mr Tan did not say what was his vocation nor which service he was in. Anywaz good for him that he finds his experience opening doors for him overseas. The rest of us or at least me seriously do not find our society truly appreciating our 2 or 2.5 years' sacrifice and subsequently reservist obligations Guess some 80-dollar vouchers is some kind of recognisation I reckon.... From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...rs-him-20130321 Military service opened doors for him Published on Mar 21, 2013 "TELL me about your military experience." I have been asked this question repeatedly at interviews for schools and work throughout the world. And I have learnt that the very best global institutions value my military skills, discipline and teamwork. I started out poorly. After faring badly in junior college and being rejected by local universities, I enlisted for national service and, after my basic military training, decided to sign on with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). I hoped to use my military service to bolster my applications for overseas universities. The skills and experience that I gained in the SAF helped me break through seemingly impossible odds. I was offered a place in a foreign university, got my degree, returned to the SAF, and left after serving my four-year bond. I subsequently applied for and was accepted to a top United States graduate programme, then worked in non-governmental organisations (NGOs), international organisations and financial institutions. I have been in no way disadvantaged or "behind my peers". I am a valued contributor in these organisations because the very same leadership skills, teamwork, perseverance and discipline that I acquired in the SAF are equally applicable in NGO work, international diplomacy and development, and investment banking. What is worth noting, however, is that, in my experience, local institutions value these skills and experience less. Where global institutions saw these as strengths, local ones generally did not. This must change. Ultimately, regardless of the value we may or may not extract from national service, it helps to pause and reflect on the privilege of serving in the defence of one's loved ones and country. And we should, perhaps, remember that young men (and women) considered it a privilege, duty and necessity to serve at the advent and formation of the earliest nation states and civilisations. 17. [sweatdrop] From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._moves_off.html Posted on 20 Jun 2012 How could this happen? Doors remain open even as train moves off STOMPer wasabi was on her way home when one of the train doors remained stuck open even as the train moved off from Lakeside station. Said the STOMPer: "I was on my way home from Boon Lay MRT to Cityhall MRT at about 10pm last night. "At Lakeside station, one of the doors started making noises during 'Doors Closing' and remained stuck open even while the train started moving. "Thank goodness the train was relatively empty, if not it would have been dangerous for people standing near that door in a crowded train! "The doors eventually closed at the next station."
  18. Hi guys, Anyone of you out there successfully argued and got back compensation from inconsiderate lorry or van drivers who slam their doors on your cars? Today in Vivocity, my car and another car, one lot away, got paint chips and deep scratches becoz of an inconsiderate lorry driver and his passenger who parked in-between us. Got evidence and his license plate with my video camera, but how can we track him down for repair costs? Or should me and the other poor driver (the one with more deep scratches than mine), just hit our heads on the wall for being so "lucky"... Buy 4D also not so "heng"... The other side of my car fender was seriously dented by another lorry door some time ago, that time no video camera to take evidence... Now have, but not sure if got use or not... I must go pray more to gods and start buying lottery already....
  19. Apparently the habit of many passengers to hog the space near the train doors is causing bottlenecks especially during peak hours. Despite announcements at the platform urging these passengers to move further into the train interior and not clog up the entrance spaces, these passengers simply bochup.... Should SMRT hire a few 'pushers' like those in japan to push everyone into the trains? what sort of qualifications/skills must these pushers have? no need to hire sumo wrestlers, i hope.. or put a chio bu in bikini at the inner-most part of every train, passengers see her will automiatic move inside?
  20. found info on other topics. Thanks. Mods - please delete
  21. Stupid workshop pumped grease into my wing mirrors and the grease is now slowly leaking out and creating a dried up sticky film on my car doors (obviously painted surfaces). Any suggestions on how to get rid of the grease (mama lemon, mineral oil, WD-40, citrus degreaser etc) which will not hurt the paintwork or clear coat? Or should I leave it to a professional? Thanks!
