  1. I watched this video yesterday... It is supposed to be a video where kids can have a candid conversation with Minister chan. At the end, Kaylea mentioned she has seen minister before in the cotton sheep video. Minister said it was ok to make mistake as long as one don't repeat it. This morning, I found the clip reuploaded with the section removed..... Why? 1) is it because of self censorship by CNA? Is there a need for it? was the minister embarrassed about his mistake? Did CNA consider how Kaylea might feel when she realised CNA posted her commented and then cut it away? I feel this looks very bad either on CNA or minister. The original clip really wasn't very bad, in fact I thought it is worse that they censored it. I hope our media has enough freedom to post comments about cotton sheep... honestly it wasn't really that big a deal. The censorship (self?) is far worse....
  2. I am a little confused, isn't the entire SPH a media company (minus its property and healthcare arm)? So how does this whole restructuring works? And most importantly, in what way will sgcarmart and MCF be affected? @kobayashiGT SPH to restructure media business into not-for-profit entity to support quality journalism SINGAPORE - Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) intends to transfer its media business to a not-for-profit company after concluding a strategic review of its various businesses. The restructuring entails transferring all the media-related businesses including relevant subsidiaries, employees, News Centre and Print Centre along with their respective leaseholds, all related intellectual property and information technology assets to a newly incorporated wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH Media Holdings Pte Ltd ("SPH Media"). Under the restructuring proposal, SPH Media will eventually be transferred to a not-for-profit entity for a nominal sum. This will be a newly formed public company limited by guarantee, or CLG. More information on the CLG will be announced in due course, said SPH in a press statement on Thursday.
  3. Wasn't intending to post about this saga but I think with the release of this latest news today, it's almost the end of the road for Night Owl Cinematics. https://mustsharenews.com/noc-staff-sylvia/ What a waste. PR disaster right from the start. Will NOC be able to pick itself back up, or is this the final nail in the coffin? 1 If Sylvia remove herself as management, is there a chance for the company to bounce back? 2 Will brands still believe in the NOC brand? 3 Will Ryan start his own company and bring staff along with him? Judging from the online support shown towards him, I'm sure he'll have no problem building his own fanbase or loyal supporters. 4 Say its not the CEO but an employee, should people "cancel" the entire company because of an individual? 5 If those conversations were sent to an individual over private message instead of a groupchat, would the damage be lesser? I mean, we've all cursed and sweared at colleagues or friends privately to another party, sometimes a rant, just wanna vent out your frustration. I'm not condoning her actions but I'm specifically picking two scenarios, change the variables and discuss the consequences.
  4. What's the best care or best practice? Do we have to switch off our aircon and media player before turning off engine? Any thoughts and considerations? Will it harm the batteries or fuse and etc... please comment
  5. As above, does that like or praise really make any difference to your self worth? A good read: The Big Read: Dangers lurk in youth's chase for social media 'likes' http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/instagram-tiktok-social-media-danger-gen-z-youth-the-big-read-11760046
  6. Does such an all in one unit exists? Im looking to modernise my newly renewed 5 year coe altis I want to have car recording camera for front and back of my car. But when putting the car in reverse, it will show the reverse camera in the media player. Don't need a particularly good head unit just one that has basic functions.
  7. I read and felt disturbed. I read with great concern. Social media has its pros and cons. Humans do all sorts to get quick results and fix for one reason or the other. Bangkok clinic draws 100 men a month for penis-whitening service Health authorities disturbed as Thailand pioneers penis whitening laser service Thailand is probably the first country in the world where services are available to lighten the skin tone of male genitalia. Health authorities, however, have expressed worry and warned people about possible adverse impacts from such treatments. "The skin of the private parts is sensitive. Such laser services may cause irritation, allergies and inflammation," Health Service Support Department deputy director-general Dr Thongchai Keeratihuttayakorn said yesterday. He added that such services would do more harm than good. "What if your skin becomes spotted?" he asked rhetorically. Thongchai said he had never heard of such services being available in other parts of the world. He also pledged to encourage the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to check if equipment used in such services had already been approved. "If not, the service provider will be liable for punishment," he said. Laser services for skin lightening are nothing new in Thailand. But a social media post about lightening male genitalia has become the talk of the town. A Facebook user, who goes by the name of "Atittayapa Photiya", posted a message about the services. She described herself as working for the Lelux Hospital. "New services. Reduce pigmentation. Make penis whiter. No pain. No recuperation needed. Let's tag people who should do it," the post said. The hospital has confirmed that the services are available and insisted that they are not dangerous. A patient who had used the service said he "loved" laser facial treatments and had been keen to try the service when he found out it was available. "And I am impressed with the results," he said on condition of anonymity. "I will complete the programme of five laser treatments." According to AFP, Lelux Hospital's genitalia whitening services have attracted about 100 men a month and they cost around $650 for five sessions. Urologist Dr Kampanat Pornyoskrai said laser treatments on genitalia might have different results depending on each particular person. "Usually, the male genitalia is darker than other parts of the body because of androgen," he said. "No other medicines can change that." He said lasers could be used to whiten faces and might work as well for genitalia for some people. "But before you go for it, study the bad points of laser treatments first," Kampanat said. http://www.asiaone.com/asia/social-media-aroused-health-authorities-disturbed-thailand-pioneers-penis-whitening-laser?xtor=EREC-16-4

  17. so any mega corporations with enough money can abuse social media too. http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/technology/story/political-messaging-wars-white-house-deploys-twitter-army-20131104 In political messaging wars, White House deploys a Twitter army WASHINGTON (REUTERS) - Besieged by unflattering stories about the launch of President Barack Obama's healthcare programme, the White House saw a news report that it wanted to swiftly knock down. It was from NBC, which said that Obama had overpromised when he said Americans who liked their insurance could keep it, and that the president knew that many people would see their coverage change. White House officials quickly began firing off a barrage of tweets on Twitter, which has become one of the administration's most potent and relied-upon weapons in trying to shape public opinion and media reports. Josh Earnest, the principal deputy press secretary to Obama, began the assault with a series of tweets that said the healthcare law did protect Americans against changes in their coverage - unless insurers altered such coverage.

  24. Instead of showing remorse for causing a near fatal accident, the driver of the Lexus Kelvin Seah Koon Yong posted the news of the accident on his Facebook and even ‘liked’ it! Last Saturday morning, a Lexus beat the red light at a Bugis junction between Rochor Road and Victoria Street ramming into the rear of Sonata taxi. The 30 year old driver Kelvin Seah was charged yesterday for drink-driving and dangerous driving. He was accompanied by his family members who hurled expletives at journalists who tried to interview them. “Why are you kicking up a big fuss over a trivial accident?” one elderly man reported shouted at them outside the court. According to court documents, Kelvin Seah came from a rich family and graduated from Curtin University in Australia. If convicted, he is likely to be jailed and fined.
