Just about to take my sil to A&E and see that my nearside rear tyre is flat. So she has to go to A&E by taxi. I change the tyre which is so much heavier than they used to be, and see there is a nail/screw through the tyre right vertically and in the center of the tread. Car has only done 5000Km. Bit suspicious I'm thinking especially as for the last three or more years some nutter in this HDB block has been throwing NTUC bags of smelly rubbish underneath cars. Anyway two questions: - do the AAS come out to a HDB car park to change a tyre?? - Is there a good tyre repair place close to Clementi central?? Thanks.

Per the subject, would you do it? (ok, it's only MY, not that 'foreign') Went with family for a short trip to JB after Christmas, and actually did it. It started with a trip to AEON Tebrau on day 2 of our trip. It was in any case more for wife and kids to do some shopping, and I had just had dental procedure done few days ago so didn't quite enjoy the trip as my tooth was still in some discomfort. On the way back to our car at the MSCP, and as we opened the boot to put in the shopping bags, from behind a tall vehicle (i think it was another SUV) parked behind us, suddenly there was a woman who came over (she - and her car parked a few vehicles after the SUV - was blocked by the SUV so we didn't notice her at all when approaching our car), and started asking in Mandarin whether we know how to change tyre, and that she (she used 'they') needed help with it as she/they were not sure how to do it... To be honest, i was initially really skeptical of it, with thoughts of different types/ways of scams starting to form at the back of my mind. I didn't even take note of her accent (which turned out to be Singaporean) as my defence mechanism automatically came out... But at that moment somehow decided to do some good if possible - maybe hoping to accumulate some good karma since my tooth has been giving me problems lately... 😅 So i followed her to her car, with my wife few steps behind me - just to make sure i won't be abducted, maybe 🤣 It was just i think 3 cars away, and when we reached there, saw that the boot was opened (so i didn't see the number plate), a guy was squatting on the rear left tyre there trying to use the tools to loosen the tyre's nut, and there was a spare tyre, a baby seat and loads of stuff (presumably removed from the boot before the spare tyre could be taken out) on the floor nearby. There was also a little girl, maybe 5-7 yr old playing around. The guy was clearly sweating already, so it looks like it's a bona fide case of desperately needing help... They explained that they couldn't loosen the nuts and they didn't know whether it was clockwise or anti-clockwise... and asked if i know and could help. Well, i don't do it everyday, but had at least done it a few times over the few decades of driving, so i told him it's anti, and proceeded to step on the L-shaped tool (what's the name...) latched onto the nut. But it was really very tight, and i couldn't move it, even when stepping on it... Good thing my 17-yr-old son - who's taller and heavier than me - was around, and i called him over to jump on the tool, and then came the lovely 'kiak-kiak-kiak' loud noise, which frightened them, but (i told them) was the sound of the nut loosening. So my son managed to do it. At this point, there were about 6-7 Malays who went towards the 2 cars parked next to mine, and were about just behind this one, and a couple of them said that they had seen the tyre being flat when they arrived earlier... I acknowledged a bit and continued with the 'rescue'. Later my wife told me that the two were SG cars too. After another about 20 min or more, managed to loosen all the nuts and removed the flat tyre, and then fixed the spare one in. The guy was busy tightening the nuts back, and i stressed to them not to speed too much when on the spare tyre, and seeing that they could manage on their own already, i proceeded with my son to go back to the mall's toilet to wash our dirty hands. They thanked us profusely as we left, and my wife mentioned that they are Singaporeans - at which point i also felt they sounded Singaporean... As i walked back to the car, i walked to the front, and indeed saw that it was a SG-registered Altis. When i got back to our car and drove off, wife said that she chatted with the woman while waiting for us, and when they intro themselves, they actually shared a common middle name, plus they actually stay at Hougang, which is not far from us... what a coincidence. Oh, apart from the 5-7 yr-old girl who was playing around, apparently there was another younger girl in a child seat inside the car. Good that we managed to help a fellow Singaporean who was in trouble away from home. Just sharing...

Photos that he sent show a large screw embedded in the rear tyre of Arikamer's motorcycle. "I was riding happily along the TPE towards Changi just before the Lorong Halus exit when I suddenly heard a loud bang," Arikamer said. "Then, there were continuous clunking sounds and the ride became bumpy. "Thankfully, the tyre didn't burst and I was able to ride about 500m to the nearest bridge. "I stopped at the side, just under the bridge and saw a huge screw in my rear tyre. "I'm so unlucky! I just changed my rear tyre a month ago, and I paid $650 for that new tyre to make it fit perfectly with my Harley Davidson Sportster model." Arikamer added that he quickly called a tow service, and had his motorcycle towed to a repair shop in Kaki Bukit. "In the end, I had to change my new $650 tyre because it was too dangerous for me to just leave it. I forked out another $500 for the new tyre," he said. "I was so angry at first because it's a lot of money. But I'm also relieved I wasn't injured. "Just wanted to remind other motorcyclists to be careful while riding on the roads, especially on the expressways. "There may be screws or other obstacles in your way, so please avoid them."

Any bros here know a gd n cheap place to repair tyre puncture? Ard how much? Or can DIY?

Just had a small puncture, must be a small hole somewhere in rear tyre but as night is falling, cant see the actual damage but should be due to some nail. Need to crawl to nearest shop for repair first thing tomorrow. Instead of the sometimes unreliable "insert a plug" type of repair at most petrol kiosk, can anyone recommend any tyre shop in Ang Mo Kio vicinity that can remove the tyre and patch up the hole from inside? Presumably I can find one around Sin Ming area. Many many thx in advance.

Sway, want to go RWS and find out my front tyre completely FLAT, kena a screw! Luckily my place has tyre air pump, topup the air pressure went to Autobacs Bukit Bukit, tyre under their warranty. When I changed my tyre there, promissed that after sale services such up topup air pressure, tyre puncture, rotataion are free and prioity, and today happen to be a PH, packed with customers, becomes first come first serve, asked me to wait 3 hours just for a job that take 5secs to remove a screw and 1 min to topup gas. Damn s&^%Jt!!, drove back home. Want to check with some bros here, where can I find a workshop that can amend tyre today? Prefer West zone. thanks. Whay always kena this kind of problem during PH or Sunday, either battery flat or tyre puncture, why so "heng"??? Damn it!

I just wondering and figuring, If a tyre were to puncture at high speed, it is true that High Profile tyre will tend to lost control more than Low Profile tyre?

Is it true that a tyre puncture with a nail and repair with plug type, after few months it started to leak air and the same spot cannot be repaired again? Actually was thinking to change all 4 tyres since already done 50,000km with it and coming to 4 years usage, but the thread still look pretty good probably can drive for another 10k.

Hi all, My rear left tyre looks quite deflated last week, when I went to the kiosk to pump air, the meter indicated that the air inside was 80 kpi. I thought it was punctured but after sending to Autobacs for checking while dipping the tyre in water, they found no air bubbles. What the guy did was to pump it to 250 kpi and told me to monitor the tyre again. After going out and coming back home, it's almost flat again! What could have happened? Is there anywhere that I can get a reliable workshop in Ubi / Kaki Bukit area (I'll be grateful for any contact numbers provided) to help me check what's the prob? I suspect might be the rim or something inside the tyre got prob. I think prior to this, about a week ago, I ever while driving, brushed or mounted that tyre against a kerb and it went 'krong krong krong' quite loudly while trying to siam a lorry at a narrow bend. Thanks for any suggestions rendered!

thinking of ditching my spare tyre (odyssey) and get one of those canned puncture sealants. i understand that these do help inflate the tyre and seal it temporarily, but wonder if anyone here got experience using this can give a review, particularly for the following: - how long can the sealant last ? - can the puncture be serviced the regular way (plugs/patch) and reused or is that prohibited ? - storing the can itself - how long before it expires and doesn't work ? I'm in favour for replacing the spare tyre with 2 cans of puncture sealants and a fire extinguisher AND a 4-channel amplifier :)

Saw a car with a half-inflated tyre on TPE, was trying to alert the driver. Try to drive next to the car but traffic forbid me. When I finally get beside the car, the driver wasn't looking my way. Thinking of tapping my horn but thought he might think I jio him. Even if he turn his head, I wouldn't know what hand signal to show him. Finally due to traffic condition, I end up far ahead and lost him. Come to think about it, what is the most effective way of alerting another driver on the road?

I read from the internet on how a car tyre can get punctured. Afterall, a nail or some object is lying flat on the road, so how did it get stuck in your tyre and cause a punctured? An interesting theory is that as a set of car tyre goes over a nail, for example, the front tyre will "kick" the nail up from flat position. Then when the rear tyre comes, the nail will stuck and punctured the rear tyre. Another theory is the nail gets stuck between the tyre thread upon first contact. Then the tyre first rotation the heavier nail head will be spung outward due to centrifugal force, and once the nail head is out, the complete revolution will drive the sharp (lighter) end of the nail into car tyre when the nail head hit the road again. Coincidentally, both my tyre punctured experience were the rear tyre. Just curious what's others experience? Or you have any theory on how a tyre gets punctured? Sabotage don't count.

Was at Autobac last weekend, saw this thing that is supposed to fill up tyres with some compound if there has been a puncture, and can continue driving until u can find a replacement. Any comment if sure it works? And on the shelf, the maximum is up to 17" rim... (knn.. shouldn't have upsized) Anyone knows if 2 cans can be used instead, or a place that sells for 18"?

Juz curious any1 so suay kana 2 times puncture? Means after your tyre puncture than you switch to spare tyres than it puncture ones again!!

Another good reason to get yr Car service in JB. 4 Wheel balancing RM24, Tyre puncture patch RM6, Taxes RM1.5 = RM31.50...less tha S$14. . They also FOC rotate the 4 tyre & tyre get pumped up with Nitrogen too. I don't know what the Nitrogen is all about leh

Today, I took my Honda Airwave for a car wash. I noticed that one of the tyre is quite flat as compared to the rest. Took a closer look and realise that it has been punctured with bubbles coming out when water is spray on it. I went to took a plier and manually pull the "nail" out and it was like pulling a sword out of your heart with air gushing out like crazy! I had to put a cloth to cover the gaping hole and took out my FIX A FLAT aerosol can and pump the sealant into my car tyre. After I had finished pumping all the sealant in, I quickly drove my car for a few Km as instructed and went on to the petrol station to pump in more air. After the air was pumped in, the tyre went back to its normal size and I can continue to drive my car as though nothing has happens! Just an experience that I will like to share with you guys. My previous car, picanto has encountered similar incident but with a staple and was fixed by FIX A FLAT also and went on for a year without any problem before I sold the car away.

Any bro know where got sell those small bottle that can inflate into your tyre once it is puncture and it can last about 8 hr. I remember i saw it in some accessory shop quite sometime ago but now couid'nt find it.
