  4. The new Chevrolet Cruze has not been brought in as of 2017. This model has been speculated to come on sale in sg by first or second quarter of 2018 (iirc) And since there is only talk about this model but no threads on it, I decided to take the initiative to start this thread. This model, if priced correctly, can sell adequately. For this model, there is only a 1.4 turbocharged Petrol or a 1.6 turbocharged Diesel engine, so the 1.6 NA will not be back... Dimensions : Wheelbase:2700mm Length:4666mm 4453mm(hatchback) Width:1795mm Height:1458mm 1465mm(hatchback) Weight:1195-1300 kg* * Chinese models. Rest of them are international (us ) models. Thanks.

  6. Hi I went down to the showroom and went for a testdrive on the new Cruze 1.4 turbo. Frankly, I was very impressed. My previous ride was a Ford Mondeo which I am scrapping. The low depreciation, very attractive pricing and overall ride is really tempting me. I have not owned a Chevrolet before and was wondering how is the service from Alpine Motors? Anybody can shed some light on this?

  12. Changed out my so-called sealed life-time transmission ATF fluid (Dextron VI) for the 2nd time. 1st time was at 55k km. This time 85k km. It was murky brownish red. Unfortunately its not a complete drain. Only 5L against a total of 7L. So still has a lot of old oil inside. Looks like need to do another change just to dilute the old oil further. Why would manufacturer suggest life-time use and design it to be service-unfriendly I don't understand.
  13. dear bros and tai-gors out there I have my Cruze 1.6 LS (A) for a year now. And I am still clueless how to get rid of this buzzing noise coming from the seatbelt compartment (near driver’s right ear, where we grab the seatbelt). It is not there all the time, it is getting worse now. Being there most of the time. It can get worse triggered by songs with heavy bass (no kidding). It is not sound in my head (tested by other drivers). It sounds like friction to the seatbelt inside the compartment. Rubbing the seatbelt with by rough fingers can generate a similar buzzing noise. No way to stop it when it happened. It comes and go. It sometimes happen even when car not moving but only engine started. It is notice-able even with radio on because it is close to my right ear. The one on the passenger side has the same issue, not as noticeable because it is far from my ears. From the previous visits to Chevrolet center, test drive with the technician has failed to ‘simulate’ the buzzing noise. The technicians claimed they have opened up the seatbelt compartment but found nothing abnormal or faulty. Please let me know if anyone faced this similar issue and recommend me with the possible root cause and solution. Thank you very very much in advance Rocki
  14. Bad news has just struck workers at the South Korean General Motors (GM) plant. According to American automaker Chevrolet, it isn't likely to perform production of the next generation Aveo in the aforementioned Asian country. The announcement came last Thursday, mentioning that the next generation compact car from Chevrolet, the Aveo, would be produced in China and US exclusively instead. Unfortunately, this has provoked a reaction from the worker union. If GM sticks to its plan, a threat of the union striking seems inevitable. Honestly speaking, this announcement from the US-based automaker came at such an improper time. GM Korea and the union are actually holding wage talks and have not had a smooth start. This is even more reason for the union to launch their strike, with the strike being the union's biggest legitimate weapon they can use to defend themselves. According to GM, though, it seems that it is no longer profitable for the company to keep building the Aveo in the country despite the fact that South Korea has been producing 40 percent of all Chevrolet cars that are sold worldwide. The reason for GM to switch production to other countries is mostly due to the rising wages in South Korea. And, the Aveo isn't the only model affected. GM has also announced that it will no longer produce the Chevrolet Cruze in the country, either. Taking everything into account, it seems that GM will stick to its plan indeed. On the other hand, it seems that the workers in the union are also determined to launch their strike. With that being said, this may turn out to be quite a huge problem, not only for Chevrolet and the workers but probably for us as well who are thinking about buying a Chevy.
  15. I am thinking of buying the Chevrolet Cruze LS 2012. It is sad that the Alpine Motor did not bring in the 2013 version. I was told the first servicing at 1000 KM is free. May I know what is the mileage that the subsequent minor and major servicing will be done at? Also, how much will it cost for the minor and major servicing at Alpine Motors?

    Holden Cruze FR

Rented one recently. Here's a quick FR on it: Styling: Everything identical to the Chevy Cruze. Nice exterior & interior styling for a B&B car. Dash controls are comprehensive and display looks impressive on first impressions. Reasonable roominess both in front and back. Boot can swallow a large 29" suitcase easily wif probably room for 2 more cabin bags. Driving Impressions: Steering could do wif abit more feel. Quite at idling but engine is quite vocal (and not the nice type) and coarse when revved; which is something one has to do quite often since the 1.8L engine is hopelessly underpowered. I can't imagine how the SGP-spec 1.6L auto can even move.... Ride quality is pretty firm (almost conti-like) and NVH is reasonable. Car was shod wif standard-issue 15" Kumho Solus and as expected, handling ain't exactly the sharpest. Built Quality: Looks nicely put together....until you shut the doors, that is. Typical tin-can, hollow sounding doors lets it down. Otherwise the touch points on the interior seems ok. Conclusion: The 'New Chevy" seems to be on the right path to recovery. Makes the Aveo, Optra and whatever stuff they used to make look prehistoric. But the weakest link is still the engine. The 1.8L simply doesn't cut it in this package. Read somewhere that GM is developing a new 1.4L Turbo for it, thank goodness. Since the new Astra runs on the same platform as the Cruze, there's hope yet. At least GM Korea improved on their styling but it's still no Peter Schreyer masterpiece. Overall, nice but there are still better B&B cars out there.
  23. Hi Bro, Saw this Chevrolet Cruze bonnet come with a massive intake scoop ????? wannabe STI !!!! I think Chevrolet joint venture with Subaru.............came out with new model.
  24. gorgeous hatch to launch in Europe. not sure if coming to Singapore yet. Chevrolet has revealed the first photographs of a new hatchback version of the Cruze. It will be unveiled at the Paris motor show at the end of this month, and the five-door car will join the existing four-door saloon in Chevrolet showrooms in the middle of next year. Although the two models look similar, the hatchback stands out from the saloon with its coupe-like roofline. The range of engines and trims will mirror that of the saloon, although the new hatchback will be launched with Euro V-compliant engines, which will find their way into the saloon in due course. Exact details of the car and its specifications will be confirmed nearer its on-sale date, so there is no confirmation of whether every detail of the show car
  25. Anyone that has ever done their own oil changes is familiar with the pain of trying to access and remove the filter on their engine. If you do manage to get it loose, there is the inevitable mess of oil dripping down your arm as you spin the filter off, and not forgetting that constant exposure to used engine oil can cause skin cancer. When the new Chevrolet Cruze goes on sale later this year in the US, the engines for the first time will feature a cartridge type filter that can be removed from above with almost no mess or fuss. Cartridge filters are basically just the internal paper element from traditional filters and they drop into a housing that's integrated into the cylinder block. General Motors has been using the same type of filter on the 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4-liter Ecotec engines for several years. Besides being easier to change and tidier, they are also more environmentally friendly. There is less material from the filter itself to dispose of or recycle. In addition, oil spills associated with the old-fashion filters that often end up in the local water supply will be avoided. Also, having the cover with its seal on the top of the filter makes it far less prone to leaks that mess up the driveway. Cruze owners in Singapore, are your cars fitted with cartridge filters already?
