  1. I am thinking to buy either 70mai Car Jump Start 11100mAh Portable Car Jump Starter or BASEUS Power Starter Super Energy Car Jump Starter 8000mAh 800A 12V. Does anyone have any feedback on these products?
  2. New way of jump starting your car. No need to carry around jumper cables or waiting for some good Samaritan to help you. There are a few brands around. Powerall and Genius Noco available at Amazon are probably the better made ones. There are also chinese knock-offs available at aliexpress at much lower price. But if you're driver or regularly going MY, you certainly should consider having one, just like having a spare tyre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=d3Mr7GYNa84
  3. Can you jump start a car with an EV? While it’s possible to jump start a car using an electric vehicle, it’s highly recommended that you don’t. Electric cars feature two batteries: a large lithium-ion unit for the electric motors and a 12-volt battery for the accessories. This second battery is similar to the lead-acid battery found in petrol and diesel cars and it ensures the main lithium-ion battery can be charged. However, the 12-volt battery in an electric car lacks the punch required to crank an internal combustion engine and you risk damaging it if you attempt to jump start another vehicle. The RAC is pretty conclusive on the matter, urging motorists to “avoid using a hybrid electric car [for jump starting] as this could cause damage”. Similarly, many manufacturers advise EV owners against jump starting conventional vehicles. In the handbook for the electric Leaf, Nissan states that it “cannot be used as a booster vehicle because it cannot supply enough power to start a [petrol] engine”. However, it does go on to say that a conventional engine “can be used to jump start [the] Leaf’s 12-volt battery”. ‘Risk of damage’ In the handbook for the Renault Zoe, you’ll find the following warning: “Do not use your electric vehicle to restart the 12-volt battery in another vehicle. The 12-volt electric power of an electric vehicle is not enough to perform such an operation. Risk of damage to vehicle.” This could extend to unnecessary stress on the 12-volt battery, damage to the DC-to-DC converter, and confusion of the software that monitors the battery. The internet is awash with examples of EV owners jump starting conventional cars, and some owners might risk it in an emergency, but it’s not recommended. While it’s far from conclusive, a section in the handbook for the Tesla Model S suggests you might invalidate your warranty by jump starting another vehicle. It states: “Do not use the battery as a stationary power source. Doing so voids the warranty.” However, there is some good news. Other electric vehicles can be jump-started – you just need to locate the battery. Also, you can indirectly charge a conventional car by using a charger that’s charged using the EV’s 12-volt DC outlet. There are plenty of options available online. 4. Jumping from 6 storey high, a 26-year-old man because of quarrelling with girlfriend The suspected incident, the 26-year-old man drove his girlfriend to the multi-storey car park in Marseille. The couple were accused of quarrelling. The man later took the risk to sit on the top floor of the parking lot. Then he turned and roared and fell from the sixth floor. He was sent to a hospital. The accident occurred around 2:30 pm yesterday (October 15) at the multi-storey car park at Block 31A of Circuit Road. An enthusiastic reader called "Lianhe Evening News", referring to a young man who was originally sitting on the top floor of a multi-storey car park and later fell on it. The reporter rushed to the scene and found that blood was still visible on the ground at the entrance to the parking lot. Many residents stopped at the scene. According to observations, the parking lot is six stories high and the top floor is open-air. The police blocked the scene investigation there. Zhu Zhu, a maid working in a house next door, told reporters that she heard a lot of shouts at the time and looked up and saw a man sitting on the top floor of the parking lot. "I saw him looking back, but didn't see other people. The next second I found that he had fallen to the bottom. I saw this for the first time and was scared to shake my body." Ms Zheng (33), the person in charge of the nearby optical shop, said that she also heard a "touch". She walked out of the store and saw a man lying on the ground, a lot of blood in his head, and immediately called the police. A witnessed male resident who did not want to be named pointed out that at that time, he had heard the proprietress who sold the board downstairs and shouted at the young man, asking him not to jump, but still could not stop it. The male resident also revealed that the man was driving a green Mercedes Benz and carrying a girl in the parking lot. I believe the two are lovers. According to the scene, some people heard that there was a quarrel between the two people before the incident, but everyone did not know why the man would fall. The police confirmed the above incident and a 26-year-old man was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital without any awareness. The case is still under investigation. For a full report, please read the United Evening News on October 16, 2019.
  5. I drive a honda ridgeline pickup truck and my wife drive a honda civic. I've been looking for a decent jumpstarter that would be powerful enough for both of our vehicles. Rather then having 2 various models it just seemed easier to get two identical units. After reading reviews on several various jump-starters I opted for this model. Now the most negative thing I could find about this thing was it lacked a flat charger so you couldn't leave it plugged in. For me that's not even a factor, after all I bought this to charge it and then put it in the trunk of my wifes car and in the cargo area of my truck. I don't intend on leaving this plugged in. So if you plan on using this HOW IT IS DESIGNED then you too don't even need to worry about the lack of a float charger. That being said, the unit itself is a bit heavy, imagine picking up really big battery, that's essentially what this is. It has some weight to it. The jumpstarter itself also features an interesting little light that pivots as well as an air compressor. I've heard/read back reviews on the air compressor, for me it's not why I bought it. But initial checks it looks like it works fine and even has somewhere to store the air hose which is really nice. The one negative I have on this thing is the power switch for the air compressor is on the back and is not protected. In other words it could in theory be flipped on and drain the battery. So when you need to jump your car the starter would be dead. I wish they put a cover or moved the switch but honestly it would take a perfect mistake for that to get turned on so it's really not that critical. To prevent this from potentially happening I actually went down to Target and bought 2 milk crates, one for me and one for my wife. I put a jump starter, first aid kit, oil, etc in the crate so it's essentially the roadside emergency crate and also protects the jumpstarter from getting knocked around and/or turned on. Overall I spent $140 total on 2 of these and I'm really happy with the quality. They charge overnight easily, the indicator lights show you the charge remaining on the battery and it has power ports for 12volt and USB which is an added bonus. If you need a jumpstarter I would definitely consider this one.
  6. My stock battery died finally.. after 3 yrs ++..i was so lucky , at least , that it happened at a Shell petrol kiosk. Checked with the shell autoserve .. quoted my $180++ for amaron battery.. told me that is the mkt rate etcc.. i remembered reading some where. it probably cost around $150..i suspected they must have took advantage of my situation and quoted me a sky high price .... I rejected them and requested they jump start my car.. guess wat.. i was told they charge a flat rate of $15 and that is non negotiable.. no way i am going to give .. what the hell, $15 just for a 1 minute job and they were like giving me this heck care attitude.. I politely rejected them and went out to the petrol pumps asking for help .. and thank goodness.. a fellow motorist driving a white Toyota Wish gave me a helping hand..... ( Thank you to this gentleman who helped me on saturday morning at Shell 722 Upper Bukit Timah). I then headed to Filtec at Defu lane for a Hyundai Enercell battery which only cost me $80.25.. just want to have a show of hands.. how many of you would pay for the $15 to jump start ur car in this situation..
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrYRjV1ijvAThe Red Bull-sponsored Kamaz 4326 is arguably one of wildest racing vehicles on the planet. The 20,000-pound truck has a 1000-horsepower 16.2-liter turbo-diesel V8, 16 forward gears, and enough torque to tear down a building. After winning the Dakar rally back in January, the Kamaz is back for some high-flying snow-filled action. Red Bull released a promotional video yesterday of the Kamaz being driven by 2013 Dakar Rally winner Eduard Nikolaev through a snow covered northwestern part of Russia for some shakedown testing. For the 4326, that means a whole lot of airtime. Thanks to the truck's 11.8 inches of suspension travel and huge spiked ice tires, it's able to launch off snow jumps and drift around frozen corners with ease. Sure, this video is just an advertisement for Red Bull to sell more energy drinks, but it's just too cool not to share. Watch for yourself as the diesel-powered behemoth takes flight over the frozen landscape.

[Photo/Sina Weibo] At around 3 p.m. last Sunday, a woman was seen jumping into a river in Nanjing. Photos circulating on social media show that the woman was taken care of after being pulled out of the water by a man, but her rescuer was left unaided. The man, clad in black clothes in the photos, was left to try to climb up the riverbank by himself. Internet users later posted the photos on social media, saying, "Everyone was watching the naked woman, but no one lent a hand to the rescuer. It was so freezing." The rescuer is said to be a senior university student currently in a co-op program in Nanjing. Page 2 of 3 A naked woman jumped into a river in Nanjing in east Chinas Jiangsu Province on Jan. 11. 14. Well, if you're quite a fan of car movies, especially the ones intensely packed with actions, doing some stunts in or probably around a car may sound familiar. However, we all know that you shouldn't try those kinds of stunts at home. Yet, the young teenage boy in the accompanying video doesn't seem quite knowledgeable about it. Well, either that, or he simply doesn't really agree at all that those stunts are not to be tried independently - without any safety precautions, too. You see, the young boy managed to persuade a young girl to drive a Nissan Sentra right into him at a speed that I would say is no less than 60km/h. Honestly, I don't know how he could have persuaded that young girl, keeping in mind that most girls are not bound to do something so dangerous. At first glance, I thought that this boy would definitely end up in a hospital, maybe even getting himself to the ER (Emergency Room). However, it turned out that I was totally wrong. The boy actually managed to spin in the air and come back again on his feet. Well, I think I should give the boy a thumbs up at least. However, I don't understand why the girl driving the Nissan Sentra mentioned that she couldn't drive and that she couldn't see a thing. For things to make sense, I think it should have been the boy who should have said such things. Well, it's confusing but it's also hilarious on one hand, isn't it? Still, though, keep well in mind that this is not something you are supposed to try at home!

THE three expatriates are facing charges over a brawl at Suntec City in 2010, during which four people were assaulted. But two of them have jumped bail and fled Singapore. Robert Stephen Dahlberg, 34, an options broker, fled last July. The New Paper has since learnt that Robert James Springall, 25, also an options broker, absconded while out on bail last December. The trio were charged on July 7 last year and released on bail. Nathan Robert Miller, 35, an Australian business development manager, was sentenced on Monday to three weeks
  17. Not sure his nationality. But if it's not reported, them most likely not local. http://www.edvantage.com.sg/edvantage/news..._in_France.html A National University of Singapore (NUS) PhD student, Mr Cui Luchao, has been missing and unreachable in France for two weeks. The PhD student from the Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) programme at the university was on a research attachment at the Institut de Chimie Moleculaire de I'Universite de Bourgogne (ICMUB) in Dijon, France, since May 4. According to a report from The Straits Times, he had participated in the International Symposium on Homogeneous Catalysis in Toulouse from July 9 to July 13 as part of his attachment. He was last seen by ICMUB staff at the symposium in Toulouse on July 12. He was due to return to ICMUB in Dijon on July 14 to continue with his research. However, he failed to show up and telephone calls made by ICMUB and SMA faculty to Mr Cui's mobile phone had gone unanswered. Mr Cui was working on his doctorate in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Engineering. He was then supposed to have returned to Singapore on July 29, but he failed to board his flight. The newspaper reported that the missing student was caught on CCTV making a call on his mobile phone on July 17 within the Toulouse hostel grounds. The Straits Times also reported that an NUS spokesman confirmed that a missing persons report had been filed in both France and Singapore. SMA faculty and administrators are also working with the ICMUB team in Dijon, the French authorities, as well as the Chinese embassies in Singapore and France to locate Mr Cui. The spokesman added that SMA faculty and administrators are in close contact with Mr Cui's family, and are providing them with the necessary assistance during this trying time. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr Cui can reach Ms Juliana Chai at the Singapore-MIT Alliance at NUS at (65) 6516 1347 or email [email protected].

  19. WTF. This country people always jump bail. Our miw must have very very good tie with them. ================================= http://www.tnp.sg/content/two-romanians-jump-bail Two Romanians jump bail May 18, 2012 - 1:51am By: Shaffiq Alkhatib Two foreigners, both Romanians, have jumped bail after they were charged in court on Feb 21 with dishonestly receiving stolen property. Kindergarten teacher Iulia Anamaria Dobrin, 31, and her friend, businessman Cristian Bogdan, 35, are accused of receiving 99 boxes containing items such as cigars and perfumes. It is alleged that they had also received 35 packets and cartons of cigars and cigarettes. They were due to be in court on March 6, and their lawyer, Mr Peter Fernando, made an application for them to leave Singapore between Feb 27 and March 5. It was granted and the pair were released on court bail of $30,000 each. But they were still in Romania on March 5, citing medical reasons.

  22. ST Jul 15, 2011 Jump in applications for childcare subsidies By Judith Tan THE number of applications for subsidies for kindergarten and childcare fees has gone through the roof since the income ceiling for eligibility was raised. For the Kindergarten Financial Assistance Scheme (KiFAS), the number of applicants has swelled by 163 per cent, growing from 469 in April last year to 1,233 in April this year. Figures for the Centre-based Financial Assistance Scheme for Childcare (CFAC) are less dramatic but applications have still increased by a third, from 608 to 808 over the period. Since April, families with a monthly household income of up to $3,500 have been eligible to apply for assistance under the two schemes. The previous ceiling was $1,800. With the higher ceiling, 24,000 children from lower-income families now benefit from the schemes. This is double the previous figure. Among them are the Ong twins, aged five, who attend the Big Apple Child Care & Development Centre in Tampines. Their father Tony Ong earns $1,800 a month as a technician while their mother Mary brings home $1,000 as an office assistant, so previously the two girls were not eligible to receive subsidies for their childcare fees.
  23. Chinese mistresses jump into the river for BMW ANN - Friday, January 7Send IM Story Print Beijing (China Daily/ANN) - Two 25-year-old women who shared the affections of the same man in Jinan, Shandong province, China, jumped into the Yellow River in the hope of snagging a BMW. The pair were both mistresses of a man surnamed Wang, who had separately promised to buy each of them a BMW car. When the two women ran into each other on Jan 3, they began to quarrel about the car. One of them said she would do anything for Wang and jumped into the Yellow River to show she meant it. Not to be outdone, the second one followed suit. A passer-by surnamed Mi saw the two women, one of whom had cut her leg on an icicle, and pulled them from the river before calling their lover. Wang, a construction supplier from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, arrived at the scene with his wife, who denounced the two women and told her husband to return the BMW to her. An anonymous party reported the ensuing row to the police, who recorded the incident, and Wang paid Mi for rescuing the women from the river. This is so hilarious.
