  1. Sex videos of female SCDF officer leaked on porn sites and sex forums Several sex videos featuring a female Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer were leaked online last month. The videos allegedly stolen from her hacked phone were reportedly uploaded online by a former sexual partner. The police are investigating the incident. Last month, a series of sex videos began circulating online on sex forums and different pornographic websites. The videos, most of which are longer than one minute, show a female officer in SCDF uniform, her face visible, engaging in sexual acts. SCDF details and information about the woman were also revealed online in the titles and descriptions of the videos. The woman is easily identified in some of the videos where her face is clearly seen. In the videos, the officer is allegedly featured with different men, although their identities are unknown as their faces are not visible. According The New Paper (TNP), an SCDF spokesperson said the female officer who is getting counselling support, lodged a report with the police. “SCDF is aware of several private videos of a female officer posted online, but the police are “unable to comment further” while investigations are ongoing,” said the SCDF person. At this point of time, some videos have since been removed from circulation. Different offences come into play regarding this case, as discussed by James Ow Yong of Kalco Law. First, the person who gained illegal access to the woman’s phone could face a charge of unauthorised access to computer material. According to the Computer Misuse Act, the offence is punishable by a jail term of up to two years, or a fine of up to $5,000, or both. Second, the act of sharing or circulating the videos online, which include re-posting already uploaded material, may be considered an offence under the Penal Code of transmitting an obscene video through electronic means. According to Ow Yong, each video could count as one separate charge. When convicted in court, the perpetrators could face, per charge, jail time of up to three months, or a fine, or both. Third, the act of sharing the woman’s personal details could also be considered an offence under laws covering harassment. Ow Yong said that under harassment laws, if the particulars shared were “threatening, abusive or insulting, thereby causing or likely to cause the woman harassment, alarm or distress”, offenders could face a fine of up to $5,000, or a jail sentence of up to six months, or both.
  2. Taken from Yahoo News: 5 Reasons to Skip the Diamond Engagement Ring Wise Bread, On Wednesday 11 August 2010, 1:12 SGT You're ready. You have the entire scene planned out in your head, every detail plotted and mapped until it's perfect. At the climax of this mini-drama, he will bend on one knee and present to you a beautiful diamond ring -- or, if you're the one proposing, you will watch as her expression changes from surprise to utter delight when she sees the ring. And that's when you'll know: Yes, you're getting married. Or so the diamond industry would like you to believe. The sole purpose of this appealing fantasy is to drum up sales. Once you look past the mythos of the diamond engagement ring, you'll see that it's not much more than a shiny rock. Here are five good reasons to skip the diamond engagement ring. 1. It isn't an ancient tradition -- just marketing For all intents and purposes, "A Diamond is Forever" and the idea of a diamond engagement ring is Sprite's "Obey Your Thirst" and Nike's "Just Do It." It is Gary Dahl's "Pet Rock." De Beers controlled supply by buying up and closing down any diamond mine discovered, and they controlled demand by making it sentimental. Although the campaign is less than 70 years old, it has made the diamond engagement ring the ultimate symbol of how much the relationship, the girl, and love itself is worth. 2. Diamonds are rare! Or not It's true, diamonds are abundant. For generations, De Beers had stockpiled most of the world's diamond supply and effectively monopolized the industry. Their dominance has weakened over the last decade, but De Beers and its competitors still control the supply of diamonds entering the market. While most gems are valued based on their rarity, diamonds are different. Their scarcity is artificial -- and so is their value. 3. Other options look just as impressive and cost much less Moissanite looks just like a diamond; the difference is undetectable with the naked eye. In fact, moissanite is actually more brilliant. If, for whatever reason, you're stuck on the diamond ring idea, synthetic or "cultured" diamonds are the real deal. They're made in a machine that replicates the environmental forces that make diamonds. They're real diamonds, only with less flaws. A synthetic 2-carat pink diamond costs just a few thousand dollars, and a 1-carat moissanite ring is under $1000. 4. You can invest in something more meaningful/useful/fun than a piece of jewelry Many women simply enjoy having a beautiful collection -- and that's fine (if you can afford it). For most people, though, a diamond engagement ring is fun to show off for about 30 seconds. But it's special, right? Because it marks your engagement and symbolizes your love? Remember, that's De Beers's marketing campaign talking. Three-plus months' salary would be better spent on furnishing your home, an amazing trip, or your future kids' college funds! 5. It's hard to get around the ethical issues surrounding the diamond industry Terrorist groups use conflict/blood diamonds to finance their activities. Rebel groups use them to fuel conflict and civil wars. In these conflict zones, children are being used as soldiers. The Kimberley Process is an agreement that was established to prevent conflict diamonds from getting into the market, but the self-policing system is far from perfect. One way to fool the Kimberley Process is to smuggle and mix conflict diamonds with legally traded ones before being certified -- and you, the buyer, would be none the wiser. Regards,
  3. 6 Reasons You Should Be Eating More Eggs Kris Gunnars, Authority Nutrition Flickr/.Larry Page Eggs are so nutritious that they’re often referred to as "nature's multivitamin." They also have unique antioxidants and powerful brain nutrients that many people are deficient in. Here are six reasons why eggs are among the healthiest foods on the planet. 1. Whole Eggs Are Among The Most Nutritious Foods on Earth One whole egg contains an amazing range of nutrients. Just imagine… the nutrients in there are enough to turn a single fertilized cell into an entire baby chicken. Eggs are loaded with vitamins, minerals, high quality proteins, good fats and various other lesser-known nutrients. One large egg contains (1): Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin): 9% of the RDA. Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin): 15% of the RDA. Vitamin A: 6% of the RDA. Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid): 7% of the RDA. Selenium: 22% of the RDA. Eggs also contain small amounts of almost every vitamin and mineral required by the human body… including calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, manganese, Vitamin E, Folate and many more. A large egg contains 77 calories, with 6 grams of quality protein, 5 grams of fat and trace amounts of carbohydrates. It’s very important to realize that almost all the nutrients are contained in the yolk, the white contains only protein. 2. Eggs Improve Your Cholesterol Profile and do NOT Raise Your Risk of Cardiovascular DiseaseBottom Line: Whole eggs are incredibly nutritious, containing a very large amount of nutrients compared to the calorie load. The nutrients are found in the yolks, while the whites are mostly protein. The main reason people have been warned about eggs is that they’re loaded with cholesterol. One large egg contains 212 mg of cholesterol, which is a LOT compared to most other foods. However, just because a food contains cholesterol doesn’t mean that it will raise the bad cholesterol in the blood. The liver actually produces cholesterol, every single day. If you eat cholesterol, then your liver produces less. If you don’t eat cholesterol, then your liver produces more of it. The thing is, many studies show that eggs actually improve your cholesterol profile. Eggs tend to raise HDL (the "good") cholesterol and they tend to change the LDL (the “bad”) cholesterol to a large subtype which is not associated with an increased risk of heart disease (2, 3, 4). One study discovered that 3 whole eggs per day reduced insulin resistance, raised HDL and increased the size of LDL particles in men and women with metabolic syndrome (5). Multiple studies have examined the effects of egg consumption on the risk of cardiovascular disease and found no association between the two (6, 7, 8, 9). However, some studies do show an increased risk of cardiovascular disease indiabetic patients. This needs further research though and probably doesn’t apply on a low-carb diet, which can in many cases reverse type II diabetes (10, 11, 12). 3. Eggs Are Loaded With Choline, an Important Nutrient For The BrainBottom Line: Studies show that eggs actually improve the cholesterol profile. They raise HDL (the good) cholesterol and increase the size of LDL particles, which should lower the risk of heart disease. Choline is a lesser-known nutrient that is often grouped with the B-complex vitamins. Choline is an essential nutrient for human health and is needed for various processes in the body. It is required to synthesize the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and is also a component of cell membranes. A low choline intake has been implicated in liver diseases, cardiovascular disease and neurological disorders (13). This nutrient may be especially important for pregnant women. Studies show that a low choline intake can raise the risk of neural tube defects and lead to decreased cognitive function in the offspring (14). In a dietary survey in the U.S. from 2003-2004, over 90% of people ate less than the daily recommended amount of choline (15)! The best sources of choline in the diet are egg yolks and beef liver. One large egg contains 113 mg of Choline. 4. Eggs Contain High Quality Proteins With a Perfect Amino Acid ProfileBottom Line: Choline is an essential nutrient that 90% of people in the U.S. aren’t getting enough of. Egg yolks are an excellent source of choline. Proteins are the main building blocks of the body and serve both structural and functional purposes. They consist of amino acids that are linked together, kind of like beads on a string, then folded into complex shapes. There are about 21 amino acids that the body uses to build its proteins. The body can not produce 9 of these amino acids, which are deemed as "essential" and must be gotten from the diet. The quality of a protein source is determined by its relative amounts of these essential amino acids. A protein source that contains all of them in the right ratios is a good source of protein. Eggs are among the best sources of protein in the diet. In fact, the biological value (a measure of protein quality) is often evaluated by comparing it to eggs, which are given the perfect score of 100. 5. Eggs Are Loaded With Lutein and Zeaxanthin, Which Protect The EyesThere are two antioxidants in eggs that can have powerful protective effects on the eyes. They are called Lutein and Zeaxanthin, both found in the yolk. Lutein and Zeaxanthin tend to accumulate in the retina, the sensory part of the eye. These antioxidants significantly reduce the risk of Macular Degeneration and Cataracts, which are among the leading causes of vision impairment and blindness in the elderly (16, 17, 18). In one study, eating 1.3 egg yolks per day for 4.5 weeks increased blood levels of Zeaxanthin by 114-142% and Lutein by 28-50% (19). 6. Eggs For Breakfast Can Help You Lose Body FatEggs contain only trace amounts of carbohydrates, but plenty of protein and fat. They score very high on a scale called the Satiety Index, which is a measure of how much foods contribute to satiety (20). For this reason, it is not surprising to see studies where eating eggs for breakfast leads to fat loss. In one study, 30 overweight or obese women consumed either a breakfast of eggs or a breakfast of bagels. Both breakfasts had the same amount of calories. The women in the egg group felt more full and ate less calories for the rest of the day and for the next 36 hours (21). In another study that went on for 8 weeks, eating eggs for breakfast lead to significant weight improvements compared to the same amount of calories from bagels. The egg group (22): Lost 65% more body weight. Lost 16% more body fat. Had a 61% greater reduction in BMI. Had a 34% greater reduction in waist circumference (a good marker for the dangerous abdominal fat). Not All Eggs Are The SameIt’s important to keep in mind that not all eggs are created equal. Hens are often raised in factories, caged and fed grain-based feed that alters the final nutrient composition of the eggs. It is best to buy Omega-3 enriched or pastured eggs, they are more nutritious and healthier. However, conventional supermarket eggs are still a good choice if you can’t afford or don't have access the others. Take Home MessageTo top things off, eggs are cheap, taste awesome and go with almost any food. Eggs really are an egg-ceptional superfood. 7. Our resident doc bro lala81, comments? From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Story/...ory_815761.html Doctors leave public sector for reasons other than money Published on Jun 28, 2012 DR GERARD Chee's most obvious conclusion from the report ('Private versus public hospitals: More than twice as costly'; last Friday) was 'how poorly paid public hospital doctors are', as reflected in the lower cost of public health care ('Bill comparisons may not reflect true cost differences'; Tuesday). This seems inappropriate. To put things into perspective:
  8. WTF. This country people always jump bail. Our miw must have very very good tie with them. ================================= http://www.tnp.sg/content/two-romanians-jump-bail Two Romanians jump bail May 18, 2012 - 1:51am By: Shaffiq Alkhatib Two foreigners, both Romanians, have jumped bail after they were charged in court on Feb 21 with dishonestly receiving stolen property. Kindergarten teacher Iulia Anamaria Dobrin, 31, and her friend, businessman Cristian Bogdan, 35, are accused of receiving 99 boxes containing items such as cigars and perfumes. It is alleged that they had also received 35 packets and cartons of cigars and cigarettes. They were due to be in court on March 6, and their lawyer, Mr Peter Fernando, made an application for them to leave Singapore between Feb 27 and March 5. It was granted and the pair were released on court bail of $30,000 each. But they were still in Romania on March 5, citing medical reasons.

  13. Mr LKY I am concerned about your statement we need 900,000 more foreign workers. At 5 million, our infrastructure is already crumbling from the sheer mass of people descending into Singapore within a scant 2 years. Housing the additional 2 million @ say an average of 4 persons per household would require an additional 500,000 homes. How many new HDB flats and condominiums have we added to the supply in the last two years? Its no wonder that we face an endless demand for housing, thereby pricing even basic HDB property above the means of an average Singaporean. How then for another new million of migrant workers? I beg you to seriously reconsider this decision. Unless you mean to house these people in ships offshore and only come inland to work and return to their ships thereafter, I wonder how it is possible our over burdened infrastraucture would be able to cope with the almost one million new immigrant workers. I hope you would rescind this statement and promise it will never happen in the next five years. Yours truly

  15. Wat's yr take on this? Personally, if u love kids, u wud put up wif the difficulties and challenges that comes wif it. She can get assistance fm her own parents or in-laws wat. Must be a really pampered girl. ST Forum Mar 7, 2011 A mum's reasons for paternity leave SINCE we became first-time parents on Feb 9, it has been a roller-coaster ride for my husband and myself. First the baby had fever, then jaundice and later colic, not to mention the breastfeeding issues in between. We may have been forewarned about all these when we read up on having babies, but that did not stop me from turning into an emotional wreck. As a mother, I am supposedly the primary caregiver; generations of new mothers have gone through it and survived, so I should be no different. Yet, I have been blessed with a husband who is an excellent father, and who is better at handling a baby than I am, and who would have been a great help during these trying times, if only he had paternity leave. Instead, he is stretched trying to balance work, parenting and our relationship. Annual leave is one option but approval is subject to work exigencies. Mandatory paternity leave would be a different story altogether, and ideally, it should be for one month, because the first month is the toughest for parents and tackling it jointly will help greatly. I urge the authorities to consider mandatory paternity leave to improve our nation's birth rate. While I had previously entertained the idea of having two children, I do not think I can go through another round of the past few weeks without my husband by my side. I am sure many women out there will empathise with me. Heng Yoke Khee (Ms)

  17. Read this in TKL's website: Traffic Congestion I visited a patient at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Yishun. After the visit, I had to drive to my office in Sin Ming. I was caught in bad traffic congestion along Lentor Avenue and Sembawang Road. The traffic was crawling. A journey of 10 minutes took more than 40 minutes. I do not know the cause of the congestion but the typical excuse is a traffic accident. I have seen a few bad traffic congestion due to an accident where nobody was injured, but the drivers of the two vehicles involved in the accident was arguing over the accident, disregarding the congestion that is being caused. If they are sensible, they should remove their vehicles from the road and argue elsewhere. The fault could also be blamed on the lack of traffic policemen. If there is traffic congestion, I would expect the traffic policemen to be on the scene, trying to clear the congestion. It seemed that there is a lack of traffic policemen on the road. So, the congestion can take a long time to clear. Another cause is road works. There does not seem to be control over the timing of the road repairs. I have seen the repairs done during the peak hours of the morning. It would have been better, if the minor repairs are scheduled during the off-peak hours. But somebody must pay attention, rather than leave the matters to be out of control. The traffic congestions seemed to be quite bad in many roads in Singapore and during most times of the day. This adds to waste of time and low productivity. Singapore used to pride itself on its ability to get traffic moving smoothly, which improves national productivity. In fact, the high fees paid for COEs and ERP are intended to achieve this goal. It now seemed that we are paying the high cost and still suffer from the slow, crawling traffic. If we are going to get bad traffic, at least we should not be paying the exorbitant cost! We are getting the worst of both worlds! Tan Kin Lian Maybe some will say 'another gahmen bashing' post, but there's truth in this

The tenant, who was unhappy about his lease with the landlord, locked himself in inside his fashion accessories shop in the hotel, formerly known as Meritus Mandarin. Recounting the incident yesterday, Mr Ang, now the head of the operations and forensic psychology branch in the Police Psychological Services Division, said: 'Our main concern then was that he didn't do anything to harm himself.' Mr Ang, 39, who is also the deputy director of the Home Team Academy's Behavioural Sciences Unit, said he had to assess how much of a threat the man was. He appeared upset and had raised his voice. Mr Ang said: 'We told him that he didn't have to make matters worse than they already were. We convinced him and he later surrendered peacefully.' The man was arrested.Mr Ang is among over 3,300 Home Team officers who will be promoted this year. The promotion ceremony will take place today at the Orchard Hotel. (like that can get promotion, then I could qualify for commissioner liao) Another officer who will be promoted is the Criminal Investigation Department's (CID) senior investigation officer, Mr Ravindra Subramaniam, 46. He was among a team of officers looking into the kidnapping of a Singaporean businessman in South Africa two years ago.The businessman was released after his family paid a $500,000 ransom but the culprits were never caught.(never catch and help to deliver the $500k also can get promotion, then I could qualify for minister of Home affair liao) Mr Subramaniam, who has 23 years' experience, said there was never a dull moment in his work. 'Every case is like grabbing a cat out of a tree. It's always unique,' he said. SUJIN THOMAS
