  1. http://forums.asiaone.com/showthread.php?t=39927 To MOM I wrote before about my situation whereby I was hired to replace a pinoy. The pinoy originally declined the job offer but later regretted his decision and was not happy about me been the replacement. He was eventually sent back to Philipines a few months later but his gang of friends (pinoys also) soon began to employ tricks to make me leave the company so that he can make a comeback. The tricks involved not teaching the skills/info needed to do my job, hostile stares and badmouthing. The badmouthing went something like this. The pinoys would observe all your movements and behaviors. Slightest mistake you made and they would exaggerate it and spread to others. I was sick during one period and took medication which made me drowsy and the pinoys would complained that I kept yawning non-stop during office hours/training/meeting and was not interested in my work. I overheard this when I entered a meeting through the rear door. I was attacked by more than one pinoy but whether it was coordinated or not, I
  2. http://www.tremeritus.com/2014/04/16/pinoy-group-underfire-for-celebrating-independence-day-in-sg/ Pinoy group underfire for celebrating independence day in SG April 16th, 2014 | Author: Editorial The Pilipino Independence Day Council Singapore (PIDCS) had to remove a Facebook posting about celebrating the 116th independence of the Philippines at Ngee Ann City in Orchard Road, after it drew a storm of vitriol and protests from presumably Singaporean netizens: According to PIDCS Facebook page [Link], the council is a non-profit umbrella organization of Filipino Community in Singapore, represented by different societies of the Filipino Community consisting of Filipino Professionals, Skilled Workers, Cultural and Social Societies. PIDCS is mainly tasked with the organization of celebrating the Philippine independence Day Activities that will bring together the different Filipino Community Societies in Singapore. PIDCS began as a committee whose chair was elected annually by representatives of various Filipino Community Societies. It said that the present PIDCS Committee has initiated its registration with the Registry of Societies in Singapore. The online response came as a shock, PIDCS said, though they are still proceeding with their independence celebration at Ngee Ann City’s Civic Plaza on 8 June. This is pending approval of permits from the Singapore authorities. The PIDCS decided to take down the Facebook posting after it drew hundreds of anti-Filipino comments, with many slamming the PIDCS for holding their Independence Day celebration in Singapore. Co-chairman Rychie Andres said the vitriol took him by surprise and that it was “sad and disheartening”. Mr Andres said the council has held celebrations in past years at Hong Lim Park and Suntec City, but has never received criticism on this scale. Some of the comments made by netizens: “It is unfortunate that the images and words used give the impression of the Philippines planting their flag onto Singapore soil and declaring it as part of their own. There seems to be no sensitivity in it. Almost like it was done on purpose.” “Don’t let them celebrate their independence day at Takashimaya. We should stop them and throw them back to their country.” Blogger, Cheated Singaporean, wrote on his blog [Link], “Celebrating your country’s Independence Day and flying your national flag in another country simply means invasion and disrespect to the host country. This event should not be tolerated at all.” He asked, “Did the Singapore Police issue a permit to congregate for this event? The event would most likely see conflicts between Singaporeans and Filipinos, especially when the population of Filipinos in recent years have been getting too large for comfort. Ngee Ann City should also be taken to task for allowing the event to take place.” “Filipinos in Singapore are known to be self-containing. They generally do not see the need to integrate with Singaporeans and often form their own community in enclaves like Lucky Plaza. They believe Singaporeans are racist towards them when Singaporeans are actually equally unfriendly to all foreigners due to overcrowding. Filipinos do not understand the concept of overcrowding and the deteriorating quality of life for Singaporeans because their third world country is equally overcrowded.” He added, “Given how their university degrees obtained in Philippines are not recognized anywhere else in the world and their working experience in the Philippines labour market is largely considered unqualified overseas, it is little wonder why Singaporeans feel unjust to have their jobs taken over…” Most of the negative comments on PIDCS Facebook page have been deleted, except for the following which was left untouched:

  6. After KPKBing & kicking the US forces outa both Clark Air Base & Subic Naval Base more than two decades back, these fellas now have to eat humble pie & continue to bug Unker Sam for more arms especially after a humiliating encounter with PRC vessels at their own backyard recently. Even if they are to get their hands on the latest arms, I don't for a sec think they will have the nerve to go against the PLA forces when the push comes to a shove. Still the Americans will only be too glad that their proxies such as the Pinoys are doing all the dirty work based on some treaties to keep the PRC busy... Just hope some cool heads will keep matters from being blown outa hand. 7. Hmmm...i see a trend here. Even in MCF we have newbies coming telling us how to run the show and what is right/not right....steady! MAJULAH SINGAPURA!!! Pinoy new citizen ticked off NSman: You have such a LOSER mentality! He did not serve a single day of National Service and became a Singapore citizen only two years ago at the invitation of the PAP government, but Angelo Marc Jandugan behaves as if he is the rightful owner of Singapore and ticked off a Singapore NSman like nobody's business! Angelo Marc Jandugan has earlier implored PM Lee to ignore the 'noise' made by Singaporeans and continue his 'good policy' of bringing more foreigners into Singapore: "Hello sir, on behalf of all the Filipino community in Singapore and new citizens like myself, we thank you so much for believing in us and I hope you will continue your good policy of bringing more people from all over the word to take Singapore forward." His insensitive remarks were bombarded by many angry Singaporeans, one of whom is Mark Lee who served two and a half years of National Service and ten years of reservist in a combat unit to protect the likes of Angelo Marc Jandugan and other foreigners. When Mark wrote to Angelo Marc Jandugan to protest against his remarks, Angelo Marc Jandugan gave him a tongue-lashing: "You have such a LOSER mentality. You have to wake up
  8. There's also a soon to be launched North Kimchi missile projected to impact somewhere in the area. Pinoy's largest ship is a 40+ yo ex-Coast Guard cutter Philippine warship in stand-off with China vessels The Philippines said its largest warship was engaged in a tense stand-off with Chinese surveillance vessels at a disputed South China Sea shoal, after the ship attempted to arrest Chinese fishermen but was blocked by the surveillance craft. Foreign Secretary Albert Del Rosario summoned Chinese Ambassador Ma Keqing to resolve the dangerous impasse diplomatically. Del Rosario's office said in a statement that the Scarborough Shoal "is an integral part of Philippine territory" and Filipino authorities would assert sovereignty over the offshore area. The shoal lies off the northwestern Philippine province of Zambales. China and the Philippines have been disputing ownership of the shoal, in addition to the Spratly Islands and other areas in the South China Sea. Philippine Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said the situation at the shoal "has not changed as of this morning. There's a stand-off." The Department of Foreign Affairs said that on Sunday, a Philippine navy surveillance plane sighted eight Chinese fishing vessels anchored in a lagoon at Scarborough, prompting the military to deploy its largest warship, the BRP Gregorio del Pilar, which was recently acquired from the United States. On Tuesday, Filipino sailors from the warship boarded the Chinese vessels for an inspection, discovering large amounts of illegally collected corals, giant clams and live sharks inside the first boat, the department said in a statement. Two Chinese maritime surveillance ships, identified as Zhonggou Haijian 75 and Zhonggou Haijian 84, later approached and positioned themselves between the Philippine warship and the Chinese fishing vessels "thus preventing the arrests of the erring Chinese fishermen," the statement said. Del Rosario protested to Ma, the Chinese ambassador in Manila, late Tuesday and told her that the Philippine navy would enforce Philippine laws, according to his office. The Chinese Embassy in Manila did not immediately comment. Chinese officials, who refer to Scarborough Shoal as Huangyan Island, have in the past asserted Chinese sovereignty over the area. The Philippines refers to the shoal, a rich fishing ground, as Panatag. Last year, the Philippines accused Chinese vessels of intruding into other parts of what it considers Philippine territory near the South China Sea, including the Spratlys. China has regularly dismissed the protests, saying Beijing has indisputable sovereignty over those areas on historical grounds. The Spratly Islands south of Scarborough Shoal are claimed by China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Taiwan. The chain of barren islands, reefs and coral outcrops are believed to be in rich in oil and gas and the overlapping claims have long been feared as Asia's next flashpoint for armed conflict. The United States, a defence-treaty ally of the Philippines, last year provided the Philippine navy with a refurbished Coast Guard cutter as part of efforts to shore up its naval defenses. Washington has insisted it takes no sides in the territorial dispute but says it should be solved peacefully. China has balked at what it considered a US interference in the region. The disputes over the resource-rich Spratlys have settled into an uneasy stand-off since the last major clash involving China and Vietnam killed more than 70 Vietnamese sailors in 1988. Faced with China's formidable military, the Philippines and Vietnam have forged closer ties. Aside from military accords, the two countries agreed to set up a hotline between their coast guards and maritime police to monitor maritime incidents, such as piracy and incursions into their territorial waters. Philippine navy chief Vice Admiral Alexander Pama said on Tuesday that Philippine and Vietnamese sailors agreed to play football and basketball matches in the islands they occupy in the Spratlys in a novel way to build trust in the contested region. 10. A new HDB flat at Yishun has been converted into a "budget hotel" by a Filipina, who advertised her transient home service on various websites, including Facebook. As it was an affordable place to stay, many short-term visitors and job-hunters, mainly Filipinos, started making enquiries. One advert read, "Hi, we have transient rooms and bedspace for rent for Filipinos, located in Yishun." It also stated that the new apartment comes equipped with different amenities for a comfortable stay. Much cheaper than regular budget hotels in Singapore, a night's stay at the unit only costs S$25 per head. However, some netizens who spotted the ad have reported it on various online and social media sites. Photos of the unit were also downloaded, before the account was deleted, which helped others trace the flat. The flat was found to be located at Block 450 in Jade Spring on Yishun Ring Road, which is close to several shopping and commercial amenities. The BTO unit was completed about six months ago, which means only Singaporeans are eligible to purchase a unit. It is unclear whether the foreigner was a new citizen or was renting it from a Singaporean. However, she was unlikely to have been granted any license to operate a hotel out of the HDB flat, as the Hotels Act (Chapter 127), section 7(1) states, "No person shall keep or manage any premises for the purposes of a hotel unless he is the holder of a valid licence granted in respect of the premises in accordance with the provisions of this Act." Moreover, Section 16(7) declares that, "Any person guilty of the offence shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding S$2,000 and, in the case of a second or subsequent offence, to such fine or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both." 12. New heroes of the Philippines Over 5,000 Filipinos pack Jalan Besar to cheer on football team It may have been an 'away'friendly for the Philippines, but their fans turned out in force (above) to give the match a home feel for the visiting side. The small contingent of Singapore fans had to sing extra loud to make their voices heard. -- ST PHOTOS: DESMOND WEE By Lee Min Kok ONE would hardly have known that the Lions were the home team last night, given the overwhelming support that their opponents received from the Jalan Besar stands. Singapore's international friendly against the Philippines - the Lions' final tune-up before facing Jordan in a 2014 World Cup qualifier next Tuesday - was watched by a near-6,000 horde of Filipino fans. Save for a loyal band of around 150 Singaporean supporters, a blue tide engulfed the stadium as the Filipinos displayed unrivalled passion in cheering on their countrymen despite the 0-2 defeat. BACKGROUND STORY 'A lot of women are watching football now, just to ogle at the pretty faces on display.' Rosie Villaflor, an IT manager from the Philippines, on why her country's football team are currently the rage back home Even the drizzle throughout the game failed to dampen the spirits of the crowd, who came armed with umbrellas and more importantly, their cameras. The Azkals - as the Philippine national team are popularly called - have benefited from an influx of players holding dual citizenship, such as half-English brothers Phil and James Younghusband, Neil Etheridge and Dutchman Jason de Jong. And there was no mistaking who was the ladies' undisputed darling, as high-pitched screams of 'Neil, Neil, Neil' greeted the reserve goalkeeper for English Premier League football club Fulham as he stepped on to the pitch for his pre-match warm-up. 'He's so handsome!' gushed Mia Fe Carig, 24. The nurse was at Jalan Besar with 15 other female friends, all straining to catch a glimpse of the 21-year-old. IT manager Rosie Villaflor, 30, admitted as much: 'A lot of women are watching football now, just to ogle at the pretty faces on display.' Etheridge is said to have attained near-superstar status in his adopted country, with his face - and chiselled body - gracing everything from underwear ads to billboards promoting painkillers. Indeed, swooning female fans made up a large portion of the Filipino crowd, but there was a healthy pinch of guy power as well. Sales manager Jaron Genota flew in from Manila together with 20 fellow supporters yesterday, spending about 15,000 pesos (S$443) on the trip. Said the 28-year-old: 'Football in our country is enjoying a real buzz at the moment. It's not in the same league as basketball yet, but we're slowly getting there.' Interest in the sport, according to Genota, had picked up significantly after the Azkals created history by reaching the semi-finals of last December's AFF Suzuki Cup - which is the equivalent of the South-east Asian championship - in Vietnam. Filipino television networks, most of whom had largely ignored football, suddenly began to telecast live games from the German Bundesliga, English Premier League and Spanish Primera Liga this year, he said. And the fledgling United Football League - the country's professional competition - recently signed a historic TV deal with local agency AKTV Network, which will air the league's third season later this year. Midfielder James Younghusband paid tribute to the partisan support after the match, saying: 'It definitely felt like a home game for us. The fans here were fantastic.' ==== Everyone too busy/disinterested to support own national team? Why? And what's with the surname of "younghusband"?
  13. Zi pai toa kee liao.... Still not sure what's on this chap's mind when he made those remarks against his brethren-you and me. If he is really a civics tutor, he should know what he can or cannot say as a educator especially if he is using his own name. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...rouble_too.html MOE acts: Now hubby of pinoy who insulted S'poreans in trouble too The Ministry of Education posted in a comment on its Facebook page that it is aware of Mr Gay's replies to MP Penny Low's apology on Facebook in which he insulted Singaporeans using his Filipino wife's account. The MOE is now looking into the incident. Mr Gay Chao Hui, a teacher a Tampines Junior College, later apologised on the MP's page and said it was him who used his wife's Facebook account to post the comments, in which he called Singaporeans 'moronic' and 'incompetent'. His wife, Rachelle Ann Beguia, is said to be a clerk working at the National Heart Centre, and disciplinary action has since been taken against her. Netizens were concerned with the fact that Mr Gay is an educator, while others are sceptical about the apology, saying he might just be taking the fall for his wife. STOMPer Stefanie alerted STOMP to MOE's response on its Facebook page. The comment was posted yesterday afternoon (Aug 14): "Thank you for this feedback regarding Mr Gay Chao Hui. MOE is aware of this incident and takes a serious view of the matter. We are looking into it."
