  1. I will start the ball rolling.... There is one at the Sheng Siong in Elias Mall. I asked for sweet and not too creamy durian and he said MSW is like dat. He said his MSW was $18 a kg. Luckily only bought a small one. It was fragrant but bitter and the yellow colour looked more like D24 XO. First and last time I will patronise the store.
  2. Judging from the numerous threads of durian threads, I can see that most people like MSW. However, I do not prefer MSW as I think normal durians are enough for me. The main aim of the post is to see if anybody is like me(ie. likes to find budget durians) and if my statement of most people like MSW . PS.T his is not a thread for academic purposes. For general discussion only. Thanks with regards, Brass. There is apparently no poll on this kind of question, so I created this thread. If moderators feel that this thread is similar to other threads, please merge them to other durian related threads. Thanks
  3. Durian lovers, you know of any good stalls in Penang. I am going next week, hope the season is right. Appreciate your recommendation.
  4. https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/drunk-on-durians-chinese-man-fails-breathalyser-test-after-eating-king-of-fruits?xtor=CS3-18&utm_source=STiPhone&utm_medium=share&utm_term=2019-05-03%2013%3A05%3A36 'Drunk' on durians: Chinese man fails breathalyser test after eating king of fruits Police officers later carried out their own experiment in which an officer ate durian and underwent a breathalyser test. His blood alcohol level was found to be 36mg per 100ml, above the legal limit of about 20mg per 100ml.PHOTOS: SCREENGRAB FROM N.MIAOPAI.COM PUBLISHED 3 HOURS AGO FACEBOOKTWITTERWHATSAPPEMAIL Ng Huiwen A Chinese man who had an unlikely indulgence on a night out was captured on video desperately trying to prove he was sober, after he was pulled over by the police for suspected drink driving. The man, whose identity is not known, did not consume any alcohol but, to his surprise, failed his breathalyser test. A clip on Chinese news platform Pear Video later revealed that he had eaten too many durians. ADVERTISEMENT The man from Rudong county in the eastern province of Jiangsu was shown in the April 17 clip pleading with police officers. "I've just eaten durian!" the man said. According to Pear Video, the man went through a follow-up blood test which proved that he had no alcohol in his system. ADVERTISING Curious, the police department later carried out an experiment of their own. An officer measured his blood alcohol level after eating the fruit and found that the recording was 36mg per 100ml. The legal limit for blood alcohol concentration in China is 0.02 per cent or about 20mg per 100ml, according to the BBC. A couple of minutes later, the officer repeated the breathalyser test and a negative reading was shown. In the Pear Video clip, viewers were also warned against other kinds of products that could result in a positive breathalyser result, such as mouthwash and lychee. While some Chinese social media users were amused that durians could have such an effect, others wondered if the police had wasted their resources on such a minor incident. User LionHeartFY said: "The poor man did not do anything, but had to be injected by a needle and have a vial of his blood taken. I think they owe him a box of durians."
  5. A sample of Route 9 About 135 km long, with a few small towns and hardly any straight stretch. Two hours of driving on a saturday evening encountered only one lorry in the same direction. And there was a pasar malam at Simpang Durian where i stopped and picked up some local snacks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfV_7Zxh_xY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfV_7Zxh_xY I travelled from Gua Musang along route 8 till the end of the route , I hit E8 , Karak Highway toward Kuantan, About 15 km is a slip road to Karak town. About 4 km is where Route 9 begins. Landmark is a big Polis Station. The end of route is Tampin and it meets Route 1, the old trunk road before E2 was built. You may like it too
  6. Ok lai, so we have some bros asking for liu lian MU. Lets have a show of how many interested. I dont think now is a good time for liu lian yet, next month mayb the starting of the season. 8. Post here for more awareness. Saw this durian coffee being mentioned around, best is not try it if you come across it. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/durian-coffee-mix-malaysia-penang-hospital-9912342
  9. Nowadays Durian sellers going door-to-door? My MIL kana conned $160 today ($13/kg) for so call mao shan wang durians. I find it not worth even $50 and doubted even reached the weight. mai kong liao.....kong liao kek sim + lao sai Warn your old folks at home, not to buy any of them. They probably go around in late morning/afternoon looking for "easy" target when most people are usually working.
  10. Over in Nusajaya and filled up with petrol at the last service station before Tuas. Bought durian at the stall there before and just got a craving. So bought 1.5kg. Had it opened there and ate 3 pieces from 1 segment straight away, but asked that the remaining pieces be wrapped up to take home. Got home opened the package and found just another 3 pieces from 1 segment. Should have checked that I'd been given the whole amount not just part. Fuming
  11. Durian season is here again. Any good durian plantations to recommend in Johor so that can drive out to pig out on durians? Small party of 5 pax only.
  12. The Durian Generation, that is! http://www.goodyfeed.com/heres-the-new-type-of-youngsters-in-spore-the-durian-generation/ Here’s the new type of youngsters in S’pore: The Durian GenerationWritten by Goody Feed Team Every Singaporean should know by now the attitude of a person in the Strawberry Generation. But other than the Strawberry Generation, have you heard of the Durian Generation? If not, let us show you two examples of two people who belong to the Durian Generation, usually someone born between 1980 to 2010. Eric is a five-year-old boy who was shopping with his parents. As he was in a clothing shop unattended by his parents, he started to mess around the dress, staining the clothes with his chocolate. A sales assistant approached him and told him nicely not to do that, but he scolded the sales assistant, saying that his parents would come and “fire” the sales assistant. His parents then appeared all of a sudden. When the sales assistant explained to the parents politely about what has happened, the parents tossed cash at the sales assistant, saying this: “Don’t you bully my boy! I don’t care what he’s done—how much is the dress? Is this enough?” In case you’re shocked, this is a true story related by a sales assistant to the media a few years back. You need another example? Okay, here’s one: a twenty-year-old boy has just enlisted into the army. Halfway through his BMT, when he told his instructors that he would not like to continue his training, his instructors laughed and said that was not possible. The boy then cried, called his parents and the next day, the parents spoke to the commanding officer and instructors, claiming that their son was bullied. The instructors, commanding officer and others involved got into trouble—but not that boy. By now, you should know who we’re referring to. A person in the Durian Generation is so protected that if anything goes against his wishes, he just need to tell his parents and they’ll come to his rescue. It’s coined the Durian Generation because they themselves are weak, but has become somewhat fearsome because of the shells (parents). While you can scold and ignore people from the Strawberry Generation who are often harmless, people from the Durian Generation aren’t—they’ve got power (their parents) and so, you’ll have to do what they want simply because they’ll use that power if you disobey their orders. Do you have a friend who belongs to the Durian Generation? Or are you one? Tiagong here a lot durian....

  15. Hi People, I used to get my durians from a stall near 628 Market in AMK. The prices he is charging is 14/kg for MSW and $12/kg for JingFeng. $10 per fruit for D13. I think the price is a bit high. Quality wise no complaints. Wonder if there are better deals around the AMK area.
  16. I will also start the ball rolling.... There is a fruit stall at Hougang Central, at the corner of the roundabout into the MSCP, near the Fragrance bak kwa shop. They sell a variety of durians from top end to 3 for $10, or one for $5. I asked for two one for $5. I tri my luck and say if got sweet and creamy the best. The man specially picked two which were exactly sweet and creamy. Best still, ask me try one seed first. I tried and it was great, then he passed me a box of tissue for my durian stained hand. So really professional and good service standard too.

Are there any durian sellers in the West area, example Clementi, Holland V, Bukit Panjang, West Coast etc I know there is one at the end of Pasir Panjang Road, next to the 'famous' nasi lemak stall, outside NUS. But i wan to try other West places...... I no need to eat the expensive Cat mountain. Just normal durians can already .... no $$.......
