  4. Don't call it an electric S-Class. The EQS is a totally different breed. The future of Mercedes-Benz vehicles is almost here, arriving with the all-new 2022 Mercedes EQS. Despite not being the first EQ model to be introduced, the flagship EQS is the first model to be based on the company's modular architecture for luxury and executive-class electric vehicles. As such, designers at Stuttgart were given the liberty to create a totally fresh interior design and experience for the driver and occupants. The cabin's production version is totally different from the EQS Concept, though, so forget that and scroll down to see the bevy of official images provided. The new MBUX Hyperscreen is at the forefront of that design evolution, presented by three large displays under a single scratch-resistant glass that covers the entire dashboard. Of note, the system utilizes eight CPU cores, 24 GB of RAM, and 46.4 GB per second RAM bandwidth. Though not seen in the official images, the base model EQS not equipped with the MBUX Hyperscreen will have a different layout. Common on both, though, is the lack of a transmission tunnel. Beyond the MBUX Hyperscreen, Mercedes said that the EQS is made to be experienced with virtually all human senses, namely visual, auditory, olfactory, and haptic. Yes, olfactory, as the EQS comes with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter that cleans and filter outside air entering the cabin. As part of the Air-Balance Package, the EQS has active fragrancing as well, which comes with a new fragrance called No.6 Mood Linen. In terms of haptic perception, the MBUX Hyperscreen offers haptic feedback that uses force feedback on both the center and passenger displays. There are also 12 actuators located under the touchscreen surfaces, which can trigger a tangible vibration upon contact. Other elements in the cabin that excite the sense of touch are the materials used and knowing Mercedes, you know what to expect. Obviously, the eyes are among the primary focus of the EQS's interior design. Apart from the visual play on textures, a play on ambient lighting has been employed in the entire cabin. The door panels, on the other hand, are said to be borrowed from the interior design of modern living spaces. Interestingly, the needles on the digital gauges show a laser sword effect. Auditory stimulation starts even before the driver and passengers enter the 2022 EQS, with sounds greeting them as they approach and enter the vehicle. Apart from the 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system, there are two soundscapes that come standard with the vehicle called Silver Waves and Vivid Flux, while driving sounds, which change depending on the driving mode and other dynamic inputs from the driver, are optional and produced by interior speakers. More importantly, the EQS is available with soothing sounds called Forest Glade, Sounds of the Sea, and Summer Rain that can be selected during stop-overs to promote relaxation. In other words, Mercedes wants you to recharge your body as you recharge the EQS's battery. Speaking of charging, while not mentioned in the recent lengthy press release, Mercedes announced before that there will be 500,000 supported Mercedes Me Charge locations worldwide, including over 200,000 of those being in Europe. The EQS will also have a range of over 435 miles (700 kilometers) in the WLTP test. The 2022 Mercedes EQS will be launched in Europe this August. We'll know more details by then, but we know that it will be built alongside the S-Class and Maybach S-Class in the carbon-neutral "Factory 56" at the Sindelfingen plant.
  5. There was an incident in Malaysia with a Mercedes E200 driver where he tried to stealthily steal RON-95 from a petrol kiosk in Malaysia. Don't believe it? Watch the video for yourself below Apparently, a Mercedes E200 driver was caught on camera attempting to keep his driver’s front door open to block the view of him pumping RON-95 petrol into his car. He had ignored the staff’s instruction to be patient and made a run for it after stealing about 13 litres of RON-95 petrol. Judging from the car plate, it appears to be a Singaporean registered vehicle as well. But what's the big deal? For those of you wondering, Singaporean registered vehicles are not allowed to purchase RON-95 fuel in Malaysia as the fuel prices there are heavily-subsidised. So essentially this Mercedes driver was just trying to be a 'cheapskate' by saving on fuel prices. What's more is that the Mercedes E200 is a highly expensive car, with retail prides starting from SG $271,888 for the E200 Avantgarde, rising to $280,888 for the E200 Exclusive and finally $290,888 for the E200 AMG Line. Only goes to prove that rich people can also be stingy as hell too. However, this phenomenon is apparently increasing in frequency after the reopening of the Malaysia-Singapore land border on the 1st of April. Numerous reports of Singaporeans refuelling with RON 95 petrol at Malaysian fuel stations sprung out on the first week alone! Seems like the Mercedes driver was not the only one who wanted to take advantage of the subsidy huh. Netizen Comments Netizens express their take on the incident above. It really seems like I'll have to agree with them. For one, if you can't afford to maintain such an expensive car, you shouldn't be owning one in the first place. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 6. Camcar footage was caught of a Mercedes Benz flouting multiple traffic regulations, first crossing over chevron lines to attempt to overtake the camcar, followed by refusing to give way at the pedestrian crossing. Watch the video for yourself below Drive Of Mercedes #ST15C driving dangerously..mp4 At the start of the video, you can clearly see the Mercedes EQA250 Driver blatantly cross the chevron markings in an attempt to overtake the cam car. This makes the Mercedes driver liable to a penalty of a $150 fine as well as 3 demerit points. Not only that, but the Mercedes driver was also caught refusing to give way to pedestrians at a pedestrian crossing. For that, the Mercedes driver could have been liable to a a $150 fine as well as 6 demerit points. It can be seen on the video footage that two pedestrians were waiting to cross at the traffic light According to Singapore Statutes Online based on the Road Traffic Act, precedence is supposed to be given for pedestrians, cyclists, mobility vehicle users as well as PMD riders. Any “driver of a vehicle who is in the process of turning his vehicle at a road intersection or junction where there is a pedestrian crossing shall stop his vehicle in order to give way to any pedestrian, cyclist, mobility vehicle user or PMD rider who is either crossing or is starting to cross the intersection or junction. “ TLDR; this basically means that drivers must give way to pedestrians lah! Though the camcar posted the footage hoping to criticize the Benz driver, the camcar seemed to also have been flouting traffic regulations by crossing the double white lines as well, exposing his violations in the process. For crossing over the double white lines, the camcar could have also been liable to 4 demerit points and a $150 fine. The Mercedes Benz also seemed to have engaged in brake checking, which while is not a traffic offense in Singapore, is considered reckless driving and extremely inconsiderate behavior. The Mercedes Benz driver was seen coming out of his vehicle at the end of the video, perhaps hoping to settle his score with the camcar. Netizen Comments Netizens seem to be unanimous in criticizing both the camcar and the Mercedes Benz, sensing that something suspicious is afloat since the footage was cut. Personally, I believe that both of them should be held liable, let this be a lesson learnt to value safety on roads. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/560074/mercedes-discontinuing-wagons-2030-report/ Well, the future is looking bleak for Mercedes wagons. Where Volvo is determined to keep both wagons and sedans alive, Mercedes is allegedly taking a different route. According to a new Automobilwoche report, the German automaker plans to discontinue offering any wagon in its lineup by the end of the decade. The dominos will start to fall with the CLA Shooting Brake, which will disappear from the Mercedes lineup for the 2025 model year, with no successor planned. A future generation E-Class, which will allegedly arrive in 2030, won’t offer a wagon variant either, according to the report. Mercedes introduced the latest-generation C-Class with a traditional wagon model, also offering a high-riding All-Terrain version that’s only available in Europe, but who knows how long those will survive. The death knell for Mercedes wagons began ringing back in September when company COO Markus Schäfer discussed the dwindling appeal and market for wagons at a time when automakers are also spending billions to transition to electric vehicles. Allocating money to design, develop, and build EVs for a shrinking customer base isn’t easy to justify when customers want electric crossovers and SUVs instead. Automobilwoche’s report notes that the company is considering alternatives to offer these customers, especially to German ones. Mercedes could offer high-riding sedans that can accommodate the batteries in the floor or make a starker distinction between the crossovers and SUVs in its lineup. However, the report doesn’t speculate on what this splitting could entail.
  8. Source: https://www.motor1.com/photo/6090231/mercedes-benz-concept-eqg-rear-view/ It's a near-production version of the future EQG off-roader. The moment has finally arrived. Mercedes-Benz is pushing hard towards electrification and its iconic G-Class is no exception. The vehicle you see here isn't the one you'll be able to buy in the future, but it's close. Mercedes calls this the Concept EQG – a near-production version of the forthcoming EQG and a vision of what an electrified G-Class will be like. It certainly looks like a G-Class, and purists will be happy to know it should be just as rugged. A ladder frame still underpins the boxy body, riding on independent suspension in front with a solid axle at the rear. The greenhouse sits tall, the bulky spare tire carrier holds station at the back, door handles are prominent on the sides, and round headlights illuminate the way forward. Even at the quickest of glances, there's no mistaking this for a G-Class. It's clearly a very different G-Class, however. Without an engine under the hood, the bold G-Class grille becomes an illuminated Black Panel Grille on the Concept EQG. Illuminated blue squares create a faux grille appearance, with the three-pointed star in the middle lit up in a 3D effect. A white border completes the grille facade, with more LED daytime lights circling the headlights. You'll find even more LED illumination on the sides, incorporated into the Concept EQG's protective strips. The flat roof incorporates an LED light bar at the front and a third brake light at the back. 22-inch wheels with a late-1990s ambiance sit at the corners, and while the Concept EQG does have a rear spare tire carrier, you probably notice it's not shaped like a tire. In reality, it's an external storage box that pays homage to the traditional G-Class in appearance, but trades the tire for items such as charging cables. Speaking of which, how does the Concept EQG put power to the ground? Mercedes isn't ready to share details like horsepower or range just yet, but we're told this concept uses four electric motors mounted close to the wheels. Each motor can operate independently to give the EQG "unique driving characteristics." The driveline also features a shiftable two-speed gearbox that basically gives you a crawler gear for tricky off-road situations. Being a near-production concept, there will be some changes before the EQG becomes official. There is no timeframe for when that will happen, but when it does, Mercedes pledges it will pass the same tests and conquer the same terrain as all the previous internal-combustion G-Wagens that came before.
  9. Mercedes-AMG E53 Coupe - 3.0L Turbo Inline-6 - 9-Speed Automatic - All-Wheel Drive
  10. link: https://www.motor1.com/news/530107/mercedes-amg-gt63-plug-in-hybrid/ It’s the most powerful AMG ever. As if the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door lineup wasn't already tricky enough to keep track of, today the brand is adding another model to the range. This is the – deep breath – Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance. The 'E' in the name indicates that this is Mercedes-AMG's very first plug-in hybrid, and undoubtedly the first of many to come. So what does the new PHEV AMG offer? Power, and lots of it. The combination of a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, a 6.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and an electric motor mounted on the rear axle gives this car a mind-bending 831 horsepower (620 kilowatts) and 1,033 pound-feet (1,400 newton-meters) of torque. To put it plainly, this is the most powerful Mercedes-AMG factory product ever. The engineering team in Affalterbach worked closely with the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 engine shop in the UK to create the powerful yet lightweight battery pack. The battery tips the scales at 196 pounds (89 kilograms) and produces 204 hp (152 kW) on its own. But since the purpose of the battery pack is power instead of range, the GT 63 achieves a rather poor 7.5-mile (12-kilometer) electric driving range. Limited range aside, the GT 63 will race to 62 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds, which is quicker than the GT Black Series Coupe (3.1 seconds). It takes the four-door less than 10 seconds to hit 124 mph – a second-shy of the GT Black Series – and if you find the right road (read: Autobahn), the GT 63 S E Performance tops out at 196 mph (315 kmh). Joining the already available drive modes on the GT 53 and GT 63 models – Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, Race, and Slippery – the new Electric drive mode allows the S E Performance to cruise on pure battery power at speeds of up to 81 mph (130 kmh). On top of that, there's a four-stage regenerative braking system that ranges from Level 0 (disengaged) to Level 3 (one-pedal driving), with a track-only regenerative mode designed for performance. As available on all other AMG GT 4-Door models, the GT 63 S E Performance receives AMG Ride Control plus, which includes an adaptive suspension with an air damping system. The suspension settings can be adjusted individually from the drive modes, or automatically adjust depending on the mode, and Mercedes says that engineers have further increased the spread between sportiness and comfort on this model. Visually, not much changes on this S E Performance model compared to the traditional GT 63, but there are a few updated visuals to note. The front bumper now borrows cues from the GT coupe, the charging port – located on the rear bumper – blends into the sheet metal just below the taillights, and there are new 20- and 21-inch wheel options. The same similarities can be said of the cabin; the MBUX infotainment setup from all other GT models carries over, as does the new two-spoke steering wheel with haptic feedback buttons. One thing Mercedes-AMG hasn't announced yet is the price. Currently, the GT 43 4-Door starts at $89,900 in the US, the GT 53 costs $99,950, and the GT 63 asks $140,600 – or $161,900 for the 63 S. We expect the S E Performance to sit at the top of the GT 4-Door range, so an MSRP of nearly $200,000 isn’t out of the question. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance debuts in-person next week at the IAA Show in Munich, before going on sale in Europe and the US sometime later this year.
  11. https://drivetribe.com/p/brabus-gave-the-mercedes-amg-gle-RfPPwhpyRj2aYZo3LKAQbg?iid=aATi4qGGToS49P3nt4adOA The AMG GLE 63 S is the latest Mercedes to receive the Brabus treatment and as you'd expect, they've overdone it. But then again that's what makes Brabus... Brabus. As standard, the twin-turbo, 4.0-litre V8 that powers it produces a yawning 612 hp and 626 lb-ft and Brabus decided to make things spicier by fitting a larger compressor unit, bringing the power output up 800 hp (+188 hp) and 737 lb-ft of torque (+111 lb-ft), which means the Brabus GLE does 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds. Unfortunately, the top speed is limited... to 174 mph. From a cosmetic point of view, the Brabus GLE looks a bit more aggressive than the standard GLE AMG thanks to exposed-carbon 'aerodynamic-enhancement' and massive 23-inch or 24-inch wheels, compatible with Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA tyres. They've also given it a new exhaust system in carbo-titanium, which contributes to the aesthetic improvements but, more to the point, it makes it sound better. Especially in 'Sport' mode. There's also a new front fascia, a new front grille, tailor made air deflectors and air intakes, a new rear spoiler and extended wheel arches. All of these components are made from carbon fibre and can be painted either with a high-gloss or matte finish. The interior is upholstered in leather and Alcantara and is available in virtually any colour or finish (same as the exterior, apart from the carbon fibre bits). Brabus hasn't said anything about pricing but the factory AMG GLE 63 starts at around $116,000 in the US and £100,000 in the UK so the Brabus model won't come cheap.
  12. TL;DR – A Megane RS shows us how its 6-speed manual transmission can't outshift the GLA45s' 7-speed DCT transmission A user-uploaded video on Complaint Singapore features a Megane RS and a GLA45s drag racing from one traffic light to the next. Here's the video for reference: Where? It's a Renault Megane RS Manual vs DCT Towards the end of the video, you'll notice that the GLA overtakes the Megane RS before the video cuts off. 13. SgCarMart is now doing video reviews! For our first test, James - knowing less than he should about the car - gets his hands on the Mercedes-Benz CLA200 and drags our editor Julian out of the office to get his professional opinion! The two go through what the car is all about, and talk about its handsome design, and best of all, to show us just how much the boot space has grown against the old car, we actually squeeze James right into the boot! For those curious as to if the slopping roofline will provide enough space for your kids, we squeeze three adults into the rear, and here is where the CLA starts to stumble. Julian proceeds to test the Mercedes-Benz User Experience, and let's just say that our editing soon involved a liberal use of the censor. You're going to have to watch the video yourself to find out how well it works! So given these faults, is the CLA200 still a good buy? 14. Mercedes-Benz to axe more than 1,000 jobs in cost-cutting drive source: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/nov/14/mercedes-benz-axe-1000-jobs-cost-cutting-drive-electric-vehicles Move blamed on heavy cost of investing in electric vehicles just as traditional car sales slow Mercedes-Benz plans to save €1.65bn (£1.4bn) by cutting more than 1,000 jobs in the latest sign German carmakers are struggling to make big investments in electric car technology. Carmakers around the world are spending billions on developing battery-powered electric vehicles but at the same time sales of internal combustion engines are slowing in the face of economic weakness and scandals over emissions. Mercedes-Benz’s premium cars division will bear the bulk of the job cuts, its parent company, Daimler, said on Thursday, with cuts of €1bn from its wage bill expected by 2022. Management and contractors will be particularly affected, while the vans and trucks divisions will together cut €650m in staff and other costs. “This will have a negative impact on our earnings in 2020 and 2021. To remain successful in the future, we must therefore act now and significantly increase our financial strength.” Daimler shares fell by 3% in early trading on Wednesday, to €51.97. It made earnings before tax of €10.6bn in 2018 but has given repeated profit warnings during 2019 and analysts forecast earnings before tax of about €6.3bn for 2019, according to average estimates from S&P Global Market Intelligence. As well as the global race for electrification, Daimler faces the prospect of further legal costs in relation to alleged breaches of emissions regulations. The scandal over diesel emissions cheating technology has also dented the rival German carmaker Volkswagen.
  15. The new Mercedes-AMG A 45 S is not going to be the most affordable hot hatch on sale when it comes into town. So is it better than before? When the first A 45 AMG went on sale in 2013 locally, it was the fastest hot hatch in the market and everyone took notice. Fast forward to the present, Mercedes-AMG has launched the second generation A 45 AMG globally and CarWow had the opportunity to test it against its older generation. With 415bhp being churned out from its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, the new car was always going to be faster than its 360bhp pre-facelifted predecessor. But is it also better to drive and live with?
  16. 2019 Mercedes Benz AMG GT 4 door coupe unveiled http://www.motortrend.com/news/2019-mercedes-amg-gt-four-door-coupe-first-look/ The Mercedes-AMG GT S is a truly fantastic car. It looks great, the interior is gorgeous, and if you drive it hard, it’ll leave you grinning like an idiot for days. Leave the race track behind, and the GT S will also devour long stretches of highway like nobody’s business. If you need a back seat, though, you’re out of luck. The GT S is a true two-seater. At least you used to be out of luck. If Mercedes-AMG is to be believed, the new GT 4-Door Coupe is a legitimate four-door sports car. Design-wise, the GT 4-Door Coupe looks more like the new CLS than the coupe it shares a name with, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The redesigned CLS is a good looking car, and AMG’s designers did a great job of making sure the four-door GT looks like a proper AMG. Even with unique headlights, a stretched cabin, and a proportionally shorter hood, no one is going to mistake this sedan for a run-of-the-mill Mercedes. Even better, the four-door GT retains the original GT’s rear hatch for an added dose of practicality. Inside, it’s a similar story. The four-door GT’s cabin borrows lots of styling from other modern Mercedes sedans, but it does get a few unique design cues. The wide center console, for example, looks like an updated version of the one found in the original GT coupe. Depending on which package buyers choose, the four-door GT’s interior can either look like a luxury sedan with its quilted leather and wood trim, or it can double down on the sportiness with carbon fiber trim, yellow seatbelts, contrast stitching, and sports seats. European buyers will have the option of a four-passenger or five-passenger version, but in the U.S., only the four-seat configuration will be available. For most buyers, the four-door GT’s performance will likely be the most important factor, and at least on paper, AMG definitely delivers. All versions get torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and a nine-speed AMG automatic transmission, and there are three different levels of power. The base version, the GT 53, gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six good for 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Like the CLS 53, the GT 53 uses a mild hybrid system that contributes 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph in an estimated 4.4 seconds. Step up to the mid-level GT 63, and the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 makes 577 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, good for a 3.3-second run to 60 mph, according to AMG. The GT 63 S tops the lineup with 630 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque from the same V-8. It’s also the quickest of the three, needing only 3.1 seconds to hit 60 mph. Keep going, and the GT 63 S has a top speed of 195 mph, 21 mph faster than the GT 53’s max of 174 mph. To make sure the four-door GT could hold its own on a race track, AMG says it engineered an exceptionally stiff chassis, even using a rear anti-roll bar from the GT R. The six-cylinder version uses steel springs and adaptive dampers, and the V-8s get AMG’s multi-chamber air suspension for even sportier handling. The all-wheel-drive system is rear-biased, and on the GT 63 S, it even includes a standard drift mode that completely disengages the front wheels. Drift mode is also available as an option on the regular GT 63. Both 63s come standard with a limited-slip differential and rear-wheel steering, as well. For even better handling, AMG gave the GT an active aero package. Up front, engineers borrowed the GT R’s electronically controlled louvers to manage airflow, while a multi-stage rear spoiler adjusts itself depending on how the car is being driven. In a straight line, the spoiler lowers to minimize wind resistance, but in a corner, it raises to increase downforce and improve handling. No information on pricing is available at the moment, but expect Mercedes to announce that closer to the GT’s on-sale date. For the GT 63 and 63 S, that’s scheduled to be early next year, with the GT 53 not going on sale until mid-2019.
  17. Avantgarde trims has been introduced for choice since the W204 C class and now the W205 range. It has also started for the W213 E class. In terms of design, the most obvious difference is the grille design. The Avantgarde has become a popular choice among recent Mercedes Benz cars buyers, offered on top of the once default and familiar Elegance front face. Currently only the C and E class offer such trim choices. Avantgarde front grille. Front grille is mostly focused on the big tri-star logo in the middle of the grille. Background design is normally the double wings design and recently the more beautifully designed diamond grille. It is also featured in all the AMG range models, except the S class AMG models, e.g. S63, S65. The grandfather of the Avantgarde grille is probably started from the gullwing 300SL. Elegance The most familiar front face throughout Mercedes Benz history, spanning to most of its sedan range for the past decades. This familiar face gives an identity to the brand, unmistakably a Mercedes Benz, with a car of such a front. It's design is basically a grille crossed horizontally with slim chromed wings, and a centered lined chrome to make the grille look symmetrical, simple and elegant. The top if the chrome rimmed grille finishes with a small mercedes Benz classic logo,... ... and a protruding tri start ornament. These has become a classic design language for many Mercedes Benz models for decades. W204 C class W205 C class W213 E class With the emergence of the Avantgarde grille design for more and more Mercedes Benz models, and gaining popularity among buyers, would the Elegance be pharsed out in the near future for all Mercedes Benz cars? Which do you prefer?
  18. Hi all, Tried searching but can't get a comprehensive ans on this. Only managed to get bits and pieces of info here and there. I'm looking at getting a new E Class, not sure E200 or E250. Definitely PI as i find the sales service at CnC not that great and it's too overpriced compared to buying from PI. I have bought from PI before but only jap cars, never continental. I understand the general feedback from most people is that conti cars run on more electronics so there's a higher tendency for conti cars to have abit of electronic issues/replacements that need to be done from time to time even though Merc is supposed to be the best in terms of reliability for conti cars. So i have a few questions as follows: 1. Which workshop has one of the best equipment, experience in servicing Merc cars? Can they handle it if there are real serious issues or under what situations can i only turn to CnC for their help? (i hear names like MBM, Auto Spritz, Star Black etc) 2. If i turn to CnC, is the admin fee still $500 or has this changed? What other docs would i need? 3. Is the warranty and the workshop basically the same? Which warranty coverage is generally the most reasonable? 4. I'm not looking to pay the cheapest but just want to pay reasonable pricing to service the Merc. Which workshop would be best? Lastly, is the E250 worth getting over the E200? Seems like from Merc SG website, the specs look rather similar. Thx all

  20. German cars are normally very appreciated. Volkswagen, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes and other brands are very famous all over the world. But maybe the most famous are these last two. Which one do you prefer? BMW or Mercedes?
  21. Third AMG GT Roadster variant sits between the current GT and GT C, with 0-62mph taking 3.8 secondshttp://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mercedes/amg-gt/103486/new-mercedes-amg-gt-s-roadster-unveiled https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sT73b5jQwI The new Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster has been revealed. It’s the third variant to join Affalterbach’s drop-top sports car lineup, and it sits between the current GT and GT C in terms of performance and price. Under the bonnet sits the same ‘hot vee’ eight-cylinder twin-turbo used in the rest of the AMG GT range - and indeed almost every other current 63-monikered AMG. An output of 515bhp places the GT S between the standard 469hp GT and the GT C’s 549hp. The 670Nm peak torque also sits between the other two - 10Nm below the GT C but 40Nm above the GT. As a result, the GT S covers the 0-62mph dash in 3.8 seconds en route to a top speed of 191mph. Similarly, the chassis spec sits between the two current Roadster incumbents. The GT S features an electrically-controlled limited slip differential and adaptive damping - neither of which are fitted to the standard GT Roadster - while the wheels measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. They house composite brake discs that measure 390mm at the front and 360mm at the back. Drivers who wish to focus the driving experience further can upgrade to the AMG Dynamic Plus package. Stiffer suspension, active engine and transmission mounts and a retuned steering setup aim to deliver a sharper drive, while inside the pack adds an alcantara-effect steering wheel and yellow details in the dials. Four-wheel steering is also an option; the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the fronts at low speeds to aid manoeuvrability, but turn in the same direction at higher speeds to boost stability. First deliveries of the GT S are due in July this year, and although Mercedes is yet to confirm prices, the current AMG GT pricing structure suggests customers should expect to pay around £124,700.
  22. is it common practice for car agents to cover up the car camera during servicing and oil change? What's there to hide, unless they have something to hide - eg. mishandling of car, driving recklessly within the premise, certain parts never change or check, mechanics taking a nap in the car with air con turned on, taking the car out to buy lunch etc.
  23. I was introduced to the cars in showroom and salesman was professional but Little did he knew that I read in between the lines of what was said.... Did u know that the showroom is "split" into 2? On one side is the true DNA of Mercedes benz, rear wheel drive, luxuriously finished, made in Germany, the c class, e class ..... and above. On the other side are the "cheap" ones, meant to compete with Japanese. A & B class and their variants. To cut cost, it's front wheel drive, made in cheaper countries, quite a lot more plastic being used in the car etc. Target market are the "cannot afford MB customers" but die die want to buy young buyers. Just find it amusing. Anyway MB, are generally well engineered and SAFE. 3 financial questions to clear b4 buying luxurious car: 1) Protection: Hv u got adequate insurance ( life, hospital, accident, critical illness) 2) Retirement: Do u hv enough to retire (bet u don even know how much u need) 3) Investment & savings: what is your networth, do u make regular investments. .... and legacy planning if u consider bequest for yr children If people plan financially, there will far less imprudent splurge on luxurious cars.
  24. Was thinking of this just now and hence did a web search on sgcarmart. at the moment: total number of COE passenger cars on sale : 128 breakdown by make : benz 33, bmw 9, toyota 6, honda 8, volkwagen 10 etc Seems benz still the most popular car to keep after 10 years as can be seen from the data.
