  1. Oh no, this white Porsche Macan is going to get flamed online by neitzens everywhere with his/her brake-checking skills. Spotted on SG Road Vigilante's page is this video of a Porsche SUV that is pissed with the camera car not giving way on 30th of Nov 2020. Everything started from the junction of Upper Thompson and Braddell Road with the Porsche slowly catching up to the camera car which was going a decent speed. The Porsche then wanted to overtake on Braddell road for a few times but somehow luck was not in his way and the camera car seemed like it was blocking the SUV. With ego getting the best of the SUV driver, the Macan then a bad judgement call at Braddell Underpass, trying to cut into the camera car's lane without signal. Funny thing is throughtout the other parts of the video, the Macan did signal his intentions mostly... From then on, it then seemed like the Macan wanted to give the camera a piece of his mind and brake-checked the camera car after finally overtaking it. Was it solely the fault of the Porsche? Or was the camera car in the wrong for not giving way despite knowing the Porsche had intentions to overtake? It does take two hands to clap afterall...
  2. 84 year old uncle fell from his 10th floor home while sunning clothes and died. 70 year old wife witnessed the accident, suffered heart attack and died. https://www.zaobao.com.sg/znews/singapore/story20190821-982757?fbclid=IwAR1kPDYxAKBX3eohwscxTtjnbTaUNPYtOiMsIlQ-tpDjmhN717ldQFmJLz4
  3. link: http://www.h88.com.sg/article/Toa+Payoh+Ce...+$894,000/ Toa Payoh Central 5-room resale flat hits $894,000 [updated, see last paragraph] The latest data from HDB revealed an interesting gem - a 110 sqm 5-room resale flat in Toa Payoh Central went for a whopping $894,000. HDB resale prices are inching towards the million mark ever so quickly! Where is this flat? It lies between the 36th to 40th floor of Blk 79C (it's in one of those tall blocks you see in the pic on the left). This 2009 TOP-ed unit is right opposite Toa Payoh Central and within minutes of the MRT. If we're not wrong, a 5-room unit should have fetched around $350-$400k when it was a BTO back then in 2004/5. That means the flat effectively doubled in price within 3 years! Working out the sums, converting 110 sqm to square feet we get 1,184 sqft. Meaning this unit was sold for $755 psf, a price range you in new Exectutive Condos. Wow! This is like striking lottery! That kind of price range is waaaay out of reach for most young couples who've just started their careers. Forget about mature estates, stick with Punggol! Think I have to shift to Punggol liao

  7. This morning just visited the newly market. More stalls and better layout compared to previously. I tried the Hakka suan pan zhi and glutinous rice. Though I have not tried the authentic ones but these 2 dishes are very delicious, taste like homemade. Kopi C from this chinese version of Toastbox (besides a stall selling bak chor mee) really oomph (aromatic and full bodied) but must ask for siew dai. Min jian kueh is so-so. Prawn noodle just besides the "corridor" is also worth trying but must try $3 cos $2.50 very little. Spotted Q formed at bak chor mee, beef noodle and prawn noodle. Will try this market soon. For those who have tried this market, perhaps, can share which stalls worth checking out

  11. Veteran opposition leader Mr Chiam See Tong will be abandoning his stronghold of Potong Pasir to lead a team to contest in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC led by Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng. The stunning news was revealed today by Chairman of the Singapore People’s Party Mr Sin Kek Tong to the media and was published in Shin Min Daily. It was not revealed who else will be running together with Mr Chiam in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Mr Chiam’s wife, retired nurse Ms Lina Loh will take over his place in Potong Pasir. Mr Chiam first won the single seat of Potong Pasir in 1984 when he defeated PAP’s Mah Bow Tan by winning 60.8 per cent of the valid votes. He were to keep his seat by winning the subsequent 5 elections and becoming the longest-serving opposition MP in Parliament. Mr Chiam just celebrate his 25th anniversary as MP for Potong Pasir and judging from the response he received from the residents attending the dinner, it is evident that he is still highly popular among them. Ms Lina Loh has been working the ground for the last few years and cuts a familiar figure in Potong Pasir. Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC has not witnessed any electoral contests since 1988 while Mr Chiam won his seat during the last election by 55 per cent of the votes. Mr Chiam has earlier indicated his desire to break the PAP’s stranglehold on the GRCs by winning the one. The closest the opposition has come to winning a GRC since the scheme was first introduced in 1988 was at Eunos GRC during the same year where the Workers’ Party trio of Francis Seow, Lee Siew Choh and Mohamad Yackob won 49.1 per cent of the votes. While Mr Wong may not be the most popular PAP leader in Singapore, Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC has been his stronghold for over 20 years and it may be difficult for Mr Chiam to dislodge him. News Source

  13. HI Experts Forumers, http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel...vel_site_36650/ Can share your view & logic on why the traffic light has no right turn arrow to Olive road (caldecott hill) at this junction? There is a lane fitering to right but no traffic light arrow, has also noted that there is a signage saying NO RIGHT Turn from 7am-9am but what about the rest of the day? If not arrow then what's the point of making that fiter lane? http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel.../travel_site_1/ Oh, also no right turn at the junction of Dunearn road to Balmoral road during certain time, what logic huh? Other than due to the school nearby. Thanks in advance for clarification :)
  14. Hi All, I am starting this thread to express my sincere apology to all involved parties for nearly causing an accident along the PIE exit towards Braddel Road. I was driving a white peugeot and was exiting from PIE towards Braddel Road and there was this traffic light, before the main road's traffic light, which i did not notice at all, which was RED at that time, and nearly caused an accident with vehicles traveling from right to left (from my view). If you have friends/relatives that was involved in this near accident, please kindly assist by letting them know that I am sorry. And honking people in this situation was not my way of driving, as I was 100% in the wrong. Kind Regards, James
  15. Met this idiot latio driver. I turned into a car park lane and i was in the wrong direction. my fault. Couldn't see the marker on the road as it just rained and some street lights were not working. But heh, the lane is big enough for more than 2 lorries. I don't have a gigantic car, and he is driving a latio. Despite that i've already moved to the side, he has to high beam so many times at me. is he expecting others to drive properly with this high beam hitting their eyes. And he has to drive in the centre of the lane, hitting my side mirror when we passed. what ths f***
  16. Hi just want you guys to be aware of tis chinese money changer in one of the shophouses row near toa payoh hub. There are 2 side by side but i am toking abt the one on the right. What happen was i went there to have lunch and needed to change some NT$. As it was abt 1.50pm in the afternoon on a friday, many abnn money changer all went for prayer so i stumble into this one. As there were 2 side by side, i went to the one on the right first and ask the rate for NT$. He say 21. i say ok and went next dorr. Before i can ask the rate, a customer infront happen to change 200 sing of NT$ and i hear hin quote 20.85. So i thot if thats the case, i just go back to the first one. So when i was back in 1 min, i said i want to change 1.5k of NT$ and the money changer say its 20.5. I replied him that he quoted me 21 one min ago. So the MC say 21 is if he buy NT$ from me. i thot what the %@#%, how many customer will ask the rate to sell NT$ / buy sing. Moreover, i am a local.SO he said nevermind, how much beside shop quote he will give me better. So i said its 20.85. Then he say cannot be so high and after calculation, he say give me 20.87 so i say ok. So we exchange cash but before i leave, i just check the receipt and the rate given to me was 20.855. So i was pissed off by his dishonesty and trying to cheat customer again and again and this is the first time i encountered something like this. i confront him and he try to act blur then gave me the correct amt and quickly want to serve next cm. Its not a matter of the few dollar but more of i cannot stand this kind of dishonest money changer so fellow MCF memebr please beware.

  20. Hey, anyone know where this stall run by India uncle has moved to? He very tall, muscular wearing an earring on the left ear, he speaks very good english. The wife is very short & plump. They stayed at Houggang. His prata stall is inside the coffee-shop. His prata is just out of the world. Comes in square shape and thick. The flour that he used is not like what you get from the common prata shop. He sticks to the traditional receipe that is why his prata can be cripsy yet soft on the inside. Let me describe how it feels like to eat the kosong prata. He will crumpled it up after taking out fm the pan. Then serve it hot together with hot curry depending on yr choice of kambing/ayam/dhal. Imagine, your first bite on the prata. You will feel the crunchy, cripiness on the outside, soft & fluffy on the inside. The prata dunked with curry sauce just makes u feel like taking yr time to chew & savour the richness of it. Then you sit back & listen to the songbirds singing, absorbing the rich atmosphere of the lively market, observe pple going about their chores while savouring the mouth-watering prata together with teh-c-gao-siew-dai. Makes you forget that you have to work and think that it is a weekend. That is why everytime I go & eat prata on weekday, I got to rush to work after that. Not forgetting vadai, hot with ample onion n prawn. Yummy to the core. Btw, Lim Beng Yew & Tay Kheng Hua are regular patrons of this stall. The prata sold out very fast about 9am. So, I hope I can get to savour the prata again. Anyone can help me cos they moved out due to the increase in rental after the coffeeshop was renovated.
  21. Was at Blk 236 Toa Payoh yesterday near the pasar malam and saw some policemen around a covered dead body next to the void deck. Anyone knows what happened?
  22. Hi. This morning as I pass by Lor 8 Toa Payoh, saw a lot of balloons at the former Renault Commercial Vehicle sale center. Stop and check and discovered that they are promoting China vehicles both the saloon car and van. The saloon cars comes by the name of "SOYAT" and the van are known as "DFM". Both brands are under the AD of Exclusive Auto who for what I know, selling Renault brand. For DFM, is konw as Dong Fang Motor but for SOYAT - ??? I think I drop by tomorrow (after my sleep after night shift) to test drive the vehicle. Look tempting from outside. The showroom is just one building away from Subaru showroom. Lor 8, Toa Payoh.
  23. Anyone knows the charges for both the carparks @ Toa Payoh stadium and the swimming complex?
  24. I wrote an email to complain abt them. I was too fustrated there!!! Below is an extract from the email. Dear Sir/Mdm, It is to my dismay to write this email to your attention as I had encountered poor service from your Toa Payoh service centre. On 06/10/05, I turned up at 5.50pm for my 20,000km servicing at Toa Payoh Service Centre which I had made a phone booking the previous day for an appointment for 6pm to 6.30pm. After getting a queue number from the security guard, I proceeded into the service centre. As there are other vehicles at the side of the office, I stopped my car at the entrance of the service centre. I proceeded into the office to inform yuor receptionist that I am present for my servicing and was referred to Mr Laurence Ong, a Service Executive. I told him I'm here for my servicing and pointed out to him that my car is park at the entrance. He instructed me to take a seat. As I was waiting, about 10mins later, an indian worker came into the office and asked for the owner of the car that was at the entrance. Mr Laurence Ong directed him to me. I was informed to move my car to the now empty lots near the office. I did as told and returned to the office and still waiting to be attended. Later on, two other vehicles and their owners pull into the workshop and I saw Mr Laurence Ong attended to them. As time passes, I could see Mr Laurence Ong busy attending to the two owners and did not attend to me at all. It was about 6.30pm that I saw that he finish with the two other owners and escoted them to the reception for payment. Then he proceeded out of the office ignoring me. After waiting for a good 40mins without anybody attending to me, I activated my car alarm to arouse attention. After about 5mins when the sound was too irritating then a technician came into the office to look for my car keys to deactivate the car alarm. I showed the technician that it was my car and no one had attended to me. Then he began to look for a service executive and Mr Steven Chiu swiftly attended to me and printed a job card for my car. Why does it take 40mins of waiting and my intervention before I was attended to? I have a physique of 1.9m and I don't see how Mr Laurence Ong can miss me in the office. None of your service staff apologise to me or explain to me the delay. None of the service staff attended to me to explain what they had done to my car after servicing. My car number was called and I collected my car keys from the receptionist. There were only 3 other car owners around only and the workshop was not busy at all. I find that the attitude of your service staff is below par and do not have the customer in mind. I hope this type of attitude shown by your service staff can be greatly improved. I am truely disappointed with the service provided from such a reputable company like yours. Thank you for reading my email. I expect an explaination from you or your staff in a week time.
