I get that they have their uses... they take care of mosquitoes etc but i don't look forward to a. having their bacteria-rich poo scattered around the shelves b. having a jolt when a fat wriggly one pops out when i open a kitchen cabinet door old timers mentioned placing tobacco around their hideouts but those things cost a bomb these days. those sticky traps are disgusting and its a no for me... its a painful death and i squirm when having to remove them, stuck, usually starving and still alive smacking with a rolled up newspaper would leave a disgusting mess Any tips?
  3. This is the Hoy Hoy Trap-A-Roach. It costs $3.86 from Giant. One box contains 5 traps.
  4. Just a heads up to all drivers. I use that road every weekend and have to agree, whoever designed lane 1 is a blockhead. http://www.bmw-sg.com/forums/bmw-singapore...death-trap.html For those lazy to click thru: Yesterday i drove past, just saw the entire flyover closed off because of another accident.
  5. Sexual jihad is a controversial practice of women within some Wahhabist groups allegedly offering themselves in sexual comfort roles to fighters for the establishment of Islamic state. Definition in wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_jihad Disturbing, but we should all be aware of the power of these radical groups. Somehow, the ISIS is able to brainwash these girls to become sexual objects for the ISIS fighters. Interesting talk show on the topic of sexual jihad. http://www.straitstimes.com/news/asia/south-east-asia/story/isis-luring-young-girls-around-the-world-join-its-terror-ranks-20150 PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Malaysian police are on the alert for a new tactic by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria to lure young girls from around the world to join its ranks. Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division's principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the militant group was trying to lure girls as young as 14 and 15 to the ranks for sex jihad, among other activities. "We will not allow them to be exploited by IS or any other terror groups. "We are pooling our resources to ensure that these children do not fall into the trap," he told The Star on Sunday. Stressing that the division was monitoring the situation closely, SAC Ayob Khan advised parents to be more wary of their children's activities. "These young girls can easily be influenced by the militants via social media, especially Facebook. "So, parents, please play your part by monitoring your children's activities," he said. SAC Ayob Khan said that although the division had managed to thwart seven Malaysian women from going to Syria to join the militants since last year, seven others had managed to go there, adding that most of the women were in their 20s. "The youngest so far is the 14-year-old who was arrested last week," he said. The girl was nabbed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport while attempting to head to Cairo, purportedly to marry a student there before going to Syria. SAC Ayob Khan said the latest arrest reflected the IS' worrying trend to brainwash and enlist youngsters from around the world into joining its terror ranks. Britain's Scotland Yard is now looking for three teenage girls who are believed to be travelling to Syria via Turkey to join the ISIS. They are Shamima Begum, 15, who could be using the name of Acklina Begum, and 16-year-old Kadiza Sultana. The third girl, 15, has not been named at the request of her family. Their friend, also a 15-year-old, is said to have joined the militants in December. In November, a 19-year-old Dutch girl was brought home by her mother after marrying an ISIS fighter in Syria. Earlier on Sunday, Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri said there were some people in the country who were influenced by the activities of militant groups. "Their ability to recruit young people for their false struggle is worrying. To date, there have been several of our young people who not only joined them in IS territories as supporters but also became directly involved in military activities such as suicide bombing. "Going by the experience of neighbouring countries, we should also give IS serious attention," he said. He gave the assurance that police and military intelligence units were monitoring militant groups and would not let them grow to the point where they could threaten the security of the nation. He said parents should always monitor their children's activities to prevent them from getting involved in terror groups like the ISIS. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/asia/south-east-asia/story/isis-luring-young-girls-around-the-world-join-its-terror-ranks-20150#sthash.IEyoIzZx.dpuf -------------------------

  7. Hi folks, Just to check, there was a few occasion that I pass ERP gantry at CTE (towards city) and exit at Braddell exit, I noticed there were flash from the top (I think I encountered 2-3 times). Initially, I thought it was due to no credit in the cash card or faulty IU, however, I realized after passing through the gantry, my IU will show the charges and balance on the display. So looks to me the IU and cashcard no issue. Now I'm wondering whether is it due to my speed that ERP gantry flashes on me ? I'm not sure of my speed at the point of entry but it's definitely above 60Km/h. Anybody have similar encounter ? Thanks

  9. Was back from some grocery shopping and noticed some overhanging cameras at Woodlands Ave 12 towards Senoko direction. New speed trap cameras??? See pics from my in-car recorder :
  10. Folks, Just came back from genting. Though not the first time going there but is really for almost 6 yrs I have not travelled that far.... I have a question about speed trap... If you see the speed trap camera facing your direction, they are capturing your side or the other side of the cars? How to chk for traffic offences online? Thks
  11. Anyone encounter someone who look like a fake TP standing on the overhead bridge carrying a black point & shoot camera aiming at cars. Yesterday morning happen to see one around 820am, white Merc taxi suddenly jam brake shortly after passing the stationary speed trap and that's when the taxi driver starts to floor his accelerator. I was following behind on the bend where the bridge ahead in not in full view and nearly kiss the taxi upon seeing those brake lights and saw the guy on top wearing the white top and dark blue pants but doesn't seem neatly pressed as an uniform should. Looks more like those whom summon at hdb car park. If it's real then I think this is a dangerous stunt and TP should be aware of. For a minute the taxi was traveling under 80kmh. Must have scared the sxxx out of him.
  12. This morn at 8.15, I saw a Sentosa Ranger in grey uniform holding a hand-held cam standing on the left side near the far end of the gateway. This is the 1st time I come across the speed trap. Fyi, the speed limit there is 50km / hr.

  14. Its about the Orchard Boulevard again. I just realised why I was caught speeding. Its due to traffic lights. Before the cross junction (the one at wheelock place), there is another junction (exit from MRT) which pedestrians used to cross to get to the bus stop. The lights at wheelock place junction will turn green while the MRT exit one is read. Thus if you do not chiong fast enough (around 70-80), you will not get thru. Today, I saw several cars making thru the junction at high speeds. For me, well, of course i don't dare to try....I don't know if there is someone hiding or not. If have, GG to those cars. The place is like a trap, enticing drivers to chiong thru the green lights catching them for speeding....Just becareful......OF course, what is just a wide road having just 50KM/H limit is something I don't understand as well. then Grange Road is somewhat wierd.......As i turn into Grange Road, I will see a 60 sign after Tanglin Road junction. At the Botanical Gardens junction, I will then see a 70 sign with speed camera warning. Just right after the speed camera, there will be signs telling you to slow down due to bends. After the bends, no speed signs till I exit at Farrer Road. So, I have no idea whats the speed limit after the camera as well. Sorry, I am just getting confused by all these signs....

  16. Those going from ECP to PIE using the KPE beware! After the end of KPE, you will drive up a ramp turning right before making a left turn to merge with PIE (something like a S course). Those guys are at the left bend to catch you speeding down from the end of the right bend. Keep to 70 km/h from KPE until you exit into PIE. I encountered this today and right after I passed them, the guy put down his handheld speed cam .
  17. All bros, Please drive slow along the portion of Upper Thomson road after the Bishan Park towards Thomson Plaza and also after Thomson Plaza towards Bishan park. There are speed trap almost every Sunday on the overhead bridge. Yup i frequent this road almost every day. FYI, above 70km will get summon already. SGD 130 and 4 demerits.

  19. Was driving along Holland Road this morning and saw a SBS Transit van at the side of the road... The person was holding a radar gun and aiming at the buses that pass by over there... Was slightly after Pandan Valley on the opposite side... Anybody else have seen them anywhere else?
  20. I thought I will start the ball rolling of informing everyone the common sites where TP would station. Upp Thomson Road (near SICC and Flametree Condo) overhead bridge If you are driving along Upp Thomson Road toward Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, please take note that TP often hide in the middle part of the overhead bridge (camo by the surrounding trees) with mobile speed camera. Be careful even on Sat and Sun.
  21. Was having the above discussion with some of the guys this afternoon. Some say at night there is no laser camera to take pic of your car as there seems to be no one who received ticket kena snapped at night. This is true on both sides of the causeway. The only trap at night is an operation where they place someone up front and stop you further down the road at a road-block. So is the first statement true? So far have not heard of anyone getting snapped at night. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.
  22. Trying to get a sheet of Armaflex to put it under the bonnet. It mentions "Thermal" Does it transfer or trap heat in the engine bay? Anyone can assist?
