  1. You might want to reconsider your next holiday destination after this story. What happened? 3 robbers robbed a man from his car while in front of Teega Suites in JB at the drop-off lobby. The robbers used weapons such as hatchets and a machete in order to break the Toyota’s windows and harm the victim. The Toyota was unable to move due to a Honda Civic blocking his way, and an unidentified white car at the back, leaving the victim stuck in the car as the robbers came from the left and right sides of the vehicle. The entire robbery seems premeditated as the white car and the Civic also repositioned themselves to block the Toyota after it was temporarily able to break free. However, one of the accomplices was caught by the police following a chase. Coincidentally, new vs old Civic. And the new one won! Facebook comments were mainly about the lack of safety in Malaysia. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. SINGAPORE: A 57-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly tried to rob a woman while armed with a knife in Toa Payoh on Monday (Jan 9). The police said that they responded to a “999” call for assistance at a carpark in Toa Payoh Lorong 6 at about 11am on Monday. A 48-year-old woman was found to have sustained injuries on her right hand from an earlier assault. Investigations revealed that she was entering her vehicle when the man purportedly approached her from the back, demanded that she got into the car and assaulted her, said police in a news release on Tuesday. He was allegedly armed with a knife during the confrontation. The woman sustained a laceration on her right hand, scratch marks on her stomach and abrasions on her right arm. She was taken conscious to the hospital. She did not suffer any monetary loss and is in a stable condition. Police said that officers established the identity of the man and arrested him within 24 hours of the police report through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTVs. The man will be charged on Wednesday with the offence of attempted armed robbery with hurt. 3. 4 men arrested, to be charged with armed robbery in Jurong Read more at https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/4-men-arrested-be-charged-armed-robbery-jurong SINGAPORE — The police said on Friday (Nov 20) they have arrested four men suspected of being involved in an armed robbery with a knife at a unit along Jurong Gateway Road on Thursday afternoon. Three men, aged 19 to 22, had allegedly robbed the unit of about S$48,000, preliminary investigations showed. A fourth man, 26, was believed to have disposed of the knife used in the robbery. “One of the men allegedly pointed a knife at a female staff, pulled her hair and demanded her to hand over the money in the unit,” the police said in a statement. The men then dragged her into a room before fleeing with the cash. The police did not name the unit, but Chinese news site 8World on Thursday reported that OT Credit, a money lender located at Block 135, Jurong Gateway Road, was robbed that afternoon. The police said on Friday that they were alerted to the case at 4.15pm on Thursday and have been able to recover about S$30,000. “Efforts are underway to recover the rest of the loot,” the police said. The four men will be charged in court on Saturday with armed robbery with hurt. If found guilty, they could be jailed at least five years and caned a minimum of 12 strokes. Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Marc E said: “The men involved in the armed robbery displayed an egregious disregard of the law. The police will spare no effort in pursuing such criminals to bring them to justice.”

    BANK Robbery !

another robbery after the one at KLIA couple of months back but the robber self-pwned leh..... really truly asia! Robbers grab bag of cakes, miss cash Wed, Aug 27, 2008 NST GEORGE TOWN, MALAYSIA - After firing 10 shots and injuring the victim in a brazen attack, two gunmen fled with a bag containing only clothing and mooncakes. They missed their target of RM1.9 million which was in another bag, beside the one they took. The botched robbery occurred outside the departure hall of Bayan Lepas airport about 9.30am yesterday in which the victim, a 51-year-old moneychanger, suffered three gunshot wounds. Police media relations officer Superintendent Shahron Anuar Abdul Latif said the victim was shot twice in his legs while another shot grazed his right ear. Shahron said two gunmen waited in ambush for the victim who was on his way to Singapore. The victim arrived at the airport with the cash inside a security van. "He was unloading his luggage from the van to a trolley when the robbers, in ski-masks, struck. "They fired at least 10 shots at the victim before grabbing his luggage and fled the scene in a black Toyota Harrier," said Shahron, adding that there were four people inside the vehicle. The security guards in the van were caught by surprise and had no time to react. The victim was rushed to the Penang Hospital where his condition was listed as stable. One of the shots hit the automatic glass door at the departure hall, causing it to shatter. Police forensic personnel found 10 bullet shells at the scene. The robbers' getaway vehicle was later found abandoned in a secluded area about two kilometres from the airport Shahron said initial investigations revealed that the Toyota Harrier was a stolen vehicle. No arrests have been made but a state-wide hunt is on for the robbers who have been described as armed and dangerous. This is the second such incident to have occurred outside an international airport in the past four months. In April, two moneychangers were robbed in similar fashion outside the departure hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Four gunmen opened fire on the moneychangers and their bodyguard before escaping with almost RM3.5 million. The shoot-out, which lasted for about five minutes, left five injured. As in the latest case, the victims were shot in the legs and the robbers' getaway vehicle was found abandoned not far from the airport. Several days after the robbery police conducted simultaneous raids at several locations in Johor and arrested four suspects. Police also seized five automatic pistols. It is learnt that the four suspects had been detained under preventive laws
  5. https://www.asiaone.com/singapore/man-jailed-caned-after-robbery-involving-sex-ruse-wife The last paragraph of this article stated "Those convicted of robbery after 7pm and before 7am must be jailed for between three and 14 years, and given at least 12 strokes of the cane." First time came to know that robbery at night carry such mandatory punishment. Any expert here can share what's the rational of this?

  18. A Chinese story....... ******** This is the English Translation:- There was this bank robbery in Guangzhou, the robber shouted to everyone: "All don't move, money belongs to the state, life belongs to you". Everyone in the bank laid down quietly. This is called "Mind Changing Concept --> Changing the conventional way of thinking". A lady lay on the table provocatively, the robber shouted at her: "Please be civilised! This is a robbery and not a rape!" This is called "Being Professional --> Focus only on what you are trained to do!" When the robbers got back, the younger robber (MBA trained) told the older robber (only of primary school education), "Big bro, let's count how much we got". The older robber rebutted and said, "You very stupid, so much money, how to count, tonight TV will tell us how much we robbed from the bank!" This is called "Experience --> nowadays experience is more important than paper qualifications!" After the robbers left, the bank manager told the bank supervisor to call the police quickly. Before the supervisor made the call, the bank manager said, "Wait, wait wait, let's include the 5 million RMB we embezzled into the amount the robbers robbed". This is called "Swim with the tide --> converting an unfavorable situation to your advantage!" The supervisor said, "It will be good if there is a robbery every month". This is called "Killing Boredom --> Happiness is most important." The next day, TV news reported that 100 million RMB was taken from the bank. The robbers counted and counted and counted, but they could only count 20 million RMB. The robbers were very angry and complained "We risked our lives and only took 20 million RMB, the bank manager took 80 million RMB with a snap of his fingers. It looks like it is better to be educated to be a thief!" This is called "Knowledge is worth as much as gold !" After watching the TV news, the.bank manager scolded the supervisor, "Bloody hell, you are damn daring huh!" The bank supervisor was smiling and happy because his loss in the SINOPEC shares was then covered by this robbery. This is called "Seizing the opportunity --> daring to take risks!" End of translation

  20. UPDATED (25 August 2012, 3:13pm to add shopper's account) A 26-year-old man was found dead by the stairwell of a shopping centre in Raffles Place on Friday afternoon. Police said they responded to a call for assistance at 11 Collyer Quay, the site of The Arcade, at 4:34pm and, upon arrival, found the man motionless. The Indonesian-Chinese male was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after 5pm. Channel NewsAsia quoted a money-changer at the centre, Mohd Ali, as saying that the deceased was from Batam and regularly changed money with money changers in the area, sometimes up to S$100,000. A man who was at the scene, 24-year-old investment analyst Asyraf, said that eye witnesses told him they found the dead body in the staircase and that the incident appeared to be a robbery that escalated into a killing. "We couldn't see the crime scene from where we were standing and there were no signs of blood or anything. There was a man in his twenties crying beside a closed door which led to the staircase, and I was told that he is actually the victim's brother. To my understanding, they were both robbed at the same time," he told Yahoo! Singapore Saturday. He described the crying man as Chinese with short black hair and wearing a white polo. "It was heart wrenching to see him cry like that, sort of like in a whimper, very exhausted, to know that your brother is behind the other side of the door lying in a pool of blood, dead. I couldn't bear to watch his misery any further and I took my leave after a few minutes," Asyraf added. Yahoo! Singapore understands that no arrests have been made, but police have classified this as an unnatural death and are investigating. Additional reporting by Melissa Law Source: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/man-found-dead-in...ing-centre.html No joke.. Rather scary..
  21. Please guess which shopping mall. Guard shot five times in robbery Share 0 inShareNew Straits Times Thursday, Jun 07, 2012 JOHOR BARU - A security guard at a moneychanger's outlet in a shopping mall is in stable condition after being shot five times during a robbery on Tuesday. The guard, in his 40s, who was armed with a pump-action shotgun, was no match for the robbers, who were armed with semi-automatic pistols. The robbers fired nine shots, with five hitting the guard. They then grabbed a sling bag containing RM100,000 in Singapore dollars (S$40,217) before escaping in a waiting car. Johor deputy police chief Datuk Ismail Yatim said the incident happened at 8pm when the guard and his employer, a moneychanger who operated from a shopping mall, were walking towards their car after closing the outlet. "They were intercepted by two armed robbers wearing masks, who got down from a car while another waited behind the wheel. "One of the robbers grabbed the sling bag from the moneychanger. "The guard went for his pump-action shotgun, but before he could fire, the two gunmen shot him." Ismail said the shots were fired at point-blank range. The guard collapsed while the moneychanger was unhurt. The robbers escaped in their car. The guard was rushed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital here and his condition is reported to be stable. Police believed the robbers had watched the moneychanger for several days before making their move. Ismail said nine slugs were found at the scene. "We are working on several leads and hope to identify the robbers soon," he said after a crime-prevention programme at the Johor Religious Department here yesterday.
  22. The military style precision car-jacking and robbery @ Johor Bahru seem to be more professional over the years!! Share 0 inShareThe New Paper Monday, May 28, 2012 It was a robbery that involved dangerous manoeuvres, a car chase, and violent men wielding parangs. It ended with the victim being slashed and the SUV turning turtle. The drama unfolded on Thursday afternoon in Johor Baru's business district. Shin Min Daily News reported that the victim, a man in his 40s, was driving the Singapore-registered SUV. There were friends on board with him. The victim, who is Malaysian Chinese, lives in Johor Baru. When he drove into a back lane behind some shop houses, he noticed a stationary brown SUV blocking his way. Then, a Proton bearing a Kuala Lumpur-licence plate swerved into the lane. The victim was sandwiched. Speaking to the media from a private hospital, the victim recalled: "Immediately after (I entered the back lane), two cars outflanked me. Men rushed out from the vehicles and smashed my car windows." Five of the eight robbers wielded parangs. Threw rolling pin A chef, who wanted to be known as Ami, was working in the kitchen of one of the shophouses and witnessed the incident. He was holding a rolling pin, which he threw at the robbers. It hit one of them. Ami, 27, said his action angered the group. One man turned round and scolded him. Ami said: "He shouted at me not to interfere." The chef heeded the warning. Though he was holding a vegetable peeling knife as well, he knew he was ill-equipped to fight against the robbers, with their parangs. Malaysian newspaper Sin Chew Daily reported that the robbers were Indonesians. They grabbed two briefcases from the victim's SUV before fleeing the scene. But the victim fought back.He gave chase in his SUV - unsuccessfully. After a 500m drive, the victim tried to overtake the robbers but collided with another car at the side of the road, causing his SUV to overturn. That was when he saw a white car, with no licence plate. The robbers abandoned their own SUV and dashed into the waiting Harrier. Still, the victim didn't give up. He grabbed a wooden club from his SUV and approached the fleeing robbers. That proved to be a painful decision. Infuriated, one of the robbers slashed the victim's right arm, tearing the ligament in his middle finger. The victim also suffered a broken bone in his ring finger. The robbers managed to escape, leaving a trail of destruction. There were pools of blood on the road and blood stains on the wooden club. Residents in the area sent the injured victim to hospital. Johor Baru south district police director Zainudin confirmed that the suitcases contained large amounts of cash from two money changers. The exact amount is unknown. It was also unclear where the cash was being sent. This article was first published in The New Paper.
  23. Recently, a taxi driver passed away after he was involved in an accident with a Ferrari. In fact, other than the risk of getting into accidents, a taxi driver also faces other occupational risks such as robbery and aggressive customer. Not long ago, a taxi driver was thrown out of his cab after he got into a dispute with a passenger at Changi Airport. The above incidents prompted me to conduct some research over the internet and I hope to share these safety tips with all the taxi uncles and aunties out there on the road earning a living: 1.) Do not flash or display your money Do not wear any type of expensive watch, necklaces, or wrist bracelets. If you do, you are providing motivation for the person to rob you. If you must wear a necklace, make sure it is very thin so that it will break before it can strangle you. If your passenger offers you a large denomination note, advise him that you will take him to get it changed at a nearby store. Do not show him that you have money to change it. On this point, also never tell your customer that you had a good shift. 2.) Be alert and aware Keep yourself very alert and aware of what is going on around you at all times, whether you are parking or driving. This can be achieved by having sufficient rest, eat well, and getting enough exercise. The windows can be opened slightly to allow fresh air to come in, but not to the extent whereby someone can grab you from the outside. Use defensive driving tactics. 3.) Keep an eye on your passenger Keep some type of watch over your passengers while they are in your taxi. Maintain eye contact with them as they enter your vehicle. This is to send a signal to them that you can identify them in the event that they do harm to you. Do not let the passenger sit directly behind you if possible because it is your blind spot. Buy a convex rear view mirror that replaces or fits over the regular one. This will allow you 100% back seat visibility. It also sends a message to the customer that you can see them. 4) Know emergency procedures Each taxi company has in place a set of emergency procedure rules for use in different circumstances. These rules vary from company to company and you must make a sincere effort to learn them. They are not there for the company, but are for you and your personal safety. 5.) Always keep the doors locked This is very important especially if you are sitting in your cab waiting for the next customer. You do not want someone to come up beside you on foot without you noticing them and jerking open the door and attacking you. 6.) Do not be aggressive or argumentative This type of behavior may escalate a minor disagreement into a violent confrontation. Stay calm and controlled. 7.) Do not resist a robbery Just comply with the bad guy. If you resist, you may be injured or even worse, murdered. It is wiser to live to work another day. 8.) Be aware of passengers who give you "vague" instructions It is of utmost importance that you insist on your customer giving you a fixed destination as to where they are going, before you start driving away. Some customers may say, take me to "whatever" street or give an uncertain destination. If they are unsure and balk, read this as a sign that you should be very alert to what they are up to. If they tell you to "just start driving - we will tell you the way", this is a classic danger signal to you. Do not move and politely advise them that the "company's policy" requires you to get an exact address. Double check over the radio to confirm the address. This will send the passenger a signal that others know where you are going. 9.) Ensure that the radio is working The most important piece of equipment in your taxi is your radio, as it connects you to your dispatcher. The dispatcher is your lifeline. They are the ones who will get you help if you are in trouble. 10.) Carry a spare key It is a good idea to have a spare key for the taxi you drive and carry it in your pocket by itself. Should you be robbed, what will probably happen is that the robbers will rip out your radio mike so you cannot call for help, and may throw your keys away if they do not steal your taxi to make the getaway. They think that by doing this, they are depriving you of your mobility. Have a safe journey and happy
