  1. A long overdue model in Subaru lineup. Still as good as before? Subaru of America introduced the all-new 2022 WRX with the most advanced features, design, and performance in its nearly 20-year history. The fifth-generation rally icon is powered by a new 271 hp 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru BOXER® engine that is paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or new automatic transmission. With available high-definition tablet-style 11.6-inch SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia system and latest generation EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, the 2022 WRX delivers greater performance, technology, and safety than ever before. Also new for 2022, the Subaru WRX adds a new top-of-the-line GT trim with a new automatic transmission, the Subaru Performance Transmission, as standard. The new WRX GT offers a first-ever for WRX, new electronically controlled dampers that can tailor the dynamic performance to the driver's preferences with Comfort, Normal, and Sport settings. The Drive Mode Select also offers additional options to configure steering feel, damper settings, SI-Drive settings, and more, with up to 430 different customization options. For the first time, the WRX is built on the Subaru Global Platform, which offers increased safety, improved dynamics, and reductions in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). The 2022 WRX will be available at Subaru retailers in early 2022. But before fan boy rejoice, as usual, the press photos will typically shown the top spec trim. For entry level WRX, you will get this screen instead... You have been warned.
  2. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/573042/subaru-wrx-sti-officially-dead/ Friends, it's time to pour one out for arguably the most iconic rally racer of them all. Those of you patiently waiting for the next-generation Subaru WRX STI better sit down, because it's not coming anytime soon. If ever. In a surprise announcement, Subaru confirmed that the STI would not return with the new WRX. For that matter, the automaker is rather vague on the STI's future as well, stating that "Subaru Corporation is exploring opportunities for the next-generation Subaru WRX STI, including electrification." The statement goes on to say, unequivocally, that a next-generation STI with an internal combustion engine "will not be produced based upon the new WRX platform." Bummer. The surprise is certainly real, because we've reported on rumors regarding the next-generation STI for some time now. Last July we heard a 345-horsepower (257-kilowatt) STI was under consideration, but hell, forget the rumors. In January 2022, Subaru stormed into the Tokyo Auto Salon with an S4 STI Performance concept all decked out with wings, red trim, and STI badging. We figured it was a glimpse of something coming later this year, and you know what? perhaps it was. Subaru's STI statement is just three paragraphs long, but it opens with a rather telling passage about electrification and meeting the needs of a changing marketplace. Between the previous STI rumors and the STI concept from just a couple of months ago, it feels like something of an about-face as opposed to a long-term product plan. We contacted Subaru in hopes of getting a bit more backstory, but the automaker offered no additional comment. Regardless of the intent, the reality is that the WRX STI as we know it is dead. The first version appeared in 1994, packing 247 horsepower and catapulting the modest Impreza to superstar status in the World Rally Championship. The US market wouldn't get the hopped-up Impreza WRX until 2002, with the STI coming in 2004. Of course, Subaru separated the Impreza and WRX in 2014, but had we known our stint in the 2019 STI 209 would be our last internal-combustion dance, we might have savored it a bit more. Will the WRX STI be revived with electrification in a next-generation package? Subaru leaves the door open on that front but stops short of an official confirmation.
  3. SG road vigilante hated by so many car owners but their cbness is on another level 👀 This wrx was one of those that changed their sgcarmart listing to 488 after the AE86 went viral See who got the last laugh now https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/5-people-arrested-after-viral-video-dangerous-driving-along-cte-2552116 SINGAPORE: Five men suspected to be drivers involved in a recent episode of late night dangerous driving along the Central Expressway (CTE) were arrested on Wednesday (Mar 9) by police in an islandwide operation. In a widely circulated video captured by a motorist’s helmet camera video, a convoy of vehicles was seen hurtling down the CTE during the wee hours of Feb 27. Acting on the video footage, the Traffic Police conducted investigations and established the identities of the drivers. They conducted a raid on the persons involved in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with operations continuing well into the day. During the operation, nine vehicles were seized for further investigations. The men arrested were aged between 22 and 33. As part of the raid, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) allowed reporters to observe the towing of the drivers’ vehicles and the arresting of the suspected drivers. At about 7.30am at a multi-storey car park in Punggol, a red Subaru Impreza WRX that looked similar to one of the vehicles in the video was towed after officers conducted checks.
  4. <A 670-HP Lancia Delta Integrale EV Will Tackle World Rallycross in 2022 With the FIA's WRX series going electric, now's the time to revive a true classic. Ahh, rallycross going electric. It feels like someone invents a new version of it every week, probably because rallycross sort of has the ideal format for cars with limited range. The races are just 6-9 minutes long, but it's also tough actually making electric cars you can rattle the absolute hell out of around a jump track while keeping the safety standards somewhere north of acceptable. And then there are the costs. The FIA World Rallycross championship is, after years of skirting the issue, finally taking the plunge next season. One of the entrants, French outfit GCK Motorsport, is bringing things back to the old school by using the 500-kilowatt, dual-motor electric powertrain and battery from Kreisel (the people who are also bringing you insane hydrofoil racing) and fitting it to a Lancia Delta Integrale. That car's a volatile legend of rallycross' past, as well as a six-time World Rally Championship title winner. GCK Although there's obviously gonna have to be a fair amount of screwing around with it, this really will have a Delta Integrale chassis, somewhere in its base. The Integrale wasn't the Group B Lancia–that was the completely haphazard Delta S4, a beast with, as you'd expect in rally, more horsepower than sense that could reportedly pull up to 800 hp in a final race. Instead, the Integrale was a Group A competitor that still won over everyone's hearts. But rallying and Lancia Deltas go together like me and standing by the side of the course getting a face full of gravel, so this is more than a welcome development in any case. GCK already made a restomod version of the Lancia Delta Integrale that looks mighty lovely zooming around a smooth circuit because it's a car that's shaped like the most satisfying box and it's got the handling of a modern EV. That's all nice and good and I definitely wouldn't be angry if someone offered to let me (or preferably Stef) hoon one round the Nordschleife. But it's not the roaring, angry, roughness of whatever makes people want to snout rallycross cars around dirt tracks like 670-horsepower truffle hunters. LANCIA The WRX series is very keen to make some, frankly, fairly wild claims about the cars accelerating faster than F1 (yes, for a short period and if the F1 car doesn't have ERS). To be honest, when you're as obscure as rallycross has ended up these days, you can pretty much say absolutely anything and it'll either please all 15 incredibly passionate Estonians following the championship or everyone will just ignore it, anyway. For sure, at least, WRX has a decent grid put together for next year with 14 entrants to the 2022 title. And y'know, 671 horsepower and 880 newton-meters of torque in cars this size is going to be rude and fun as hell whatever you do with it. It took less than that to impress Ken Block, after all. At the very least, this is a more dignified progression of the Delta into the future than what Lancia actually did with it, which was to take on a very 2021 process way back in 2009 and turn what used to be the symbol of manic, gutsy handling into a completely vile crossover it hurts to look at. Please don't bring this one back as electric, Stellantis—you're on watch. LANCIA>
  5. Source : http://www.carscoops.com/2014/07/2015-subaru-wrx-sti-is-most-technically.html 2015 Subaru WRX STI is "The Most Technically Specialized Car" for Under $40,000 Think of a car that provides more performance and capability in one single fairly-affordable package than the Subaru WRX STI. In Europe, there may be some alternatives, but for US buyers it really is the most technically specialized car for under $40,000, as CNET’s Brian Cooley points out in this review. Its interior is still about a decade behind the competition, but then again this could be thought of as a character-building feature of the car, and not a true negative point – it will feel quite dingy if you’ve just stepped out of a luxury limo, but otherwise you should be able to live with it. Buying and driving one of these is worth it for the experience of having so much control and grip within easy reach, with handling limits that can be gently and progressively approached. Subarueven went ahead and ignored the electric power steering trend and gave the STI a proper hydraulic rack – that alone should make some enthusiasts really happy… By Andrei Nedelea
  6. Fans of WRX, hope this summary bring back some fond memories of those days you are driving one. The Subaru Impreza isn't the most exciting model when it stands on its own. However, the addition of three letters – WRX – or six – WRX STI – changes the game, quickly becoming a formidable performance machine that takes full advantage of Subaru's all-wheel-drive expertise. But the car we have today is a far departure from the Impreza that Subaru introduced nearly 20 years ago. 1st Generation (1992-2000) the first-generation Impreza WRX and WRX STI are some of the most desirable models today. The stripped-down RA version took things to the extreme with no A/C, anti-lock brakes, or horn. In 1994, Subaru introduced the WRX STI, which took the WRX and further upgraded it. 2nd Generation (2000-2007) The second-generation Impreza introduced the controversial "Bug Eye" design while increasing the model's dimensions. The "New Age" Impreza design saw the coupe body style disappear, but it was also the generation that saw the WRX arrive in the US for the first time in 2002. The polarizing styling would go through two revisions before the third-generation model's debut. 2nd Generation (2004 Facelift) The first facelift attempted to rework the front-end design, eliminating the round "Bug Eye" design only to replace it with what'd be dubbed the "Blob Eye" design, which was an improvement. The WRX model also got a tweaked suspension for improved handling while other small changes were made inside. The 2004 design previewed the next-gen redesign that'd arrive just two years later. 2nd Generation (2006 Facelift) The second facelift, pulling from the automaker's aviation heritage, introduced the automaker's new corporate face. It was a substantial refresh with new headlights, a new grille, and a new bumper. Subaru fans nicknamed it the "Hawkeye" design. The updated model also saw Subaru replace the WRX's 2.0-liter engine for a larger 2.5-liter one while tweaking the chassis and brakes. 3rd Generation (2007-2014) The third-generation Impreza further refined the car's design, growing in size again over the outgoing model – it was wider and longer than before. The third-gen also saw Subaru replace the wagon with a five-door hatchback variant. The new WRX was mostly unchanged, carrying over the previous-gen model's engine with a few other changes inside and out. 4th Generation (2014-Present) The fourth-gen WRX marked a shift for the automaker, removing the WRX and WRX STI models from under the Impreza brand in the US. However, it still shares an overall shape with its former stablemate, though it wears a unique front end and rear quarters. Subaru also introduced the turbocharged 2.0-liter FA20F engine with the WRX. The fifth-gen model is expected to arrive in 2021 or 2022.
  7. Here is a very successful DIY project - leather wrap ( or Alcantera ) on steering wheel. The wrap is customised for each specific model of steering wheel, and they provide all necessary items required for the DIY, which is a rather nice feature . There shall be no mention of what seller since this post is to show you how easy to DIY your steering wrap. If you are good at hands-on, do consider this option instead of paying hundreds to shops instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xU_IvxSN2A
  8. Subaru has released another special edition WRX STI. Probably the swansong for this generation of the WRX, all 500 units have been spoken for. Traditionally regarded to be the final evolution for each generation of the Japanese all-wheel drive sports sedan, the RA-R badge stands for 'Record Attempt-Racing' and the launch of the car is also meant to commemorate the 30th anniversary of STI. With the company focusing on developing the car with 'lightness, speed and pleasure' in mind, the car has been upgraded in quite a few areas. Armed with a revised 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, the engine now produces 325bhp and 432Nm of torque and will allow the car to do the century sprint in the four seconds range . Subaru fans will be happy to know that its power to weight ratio figure is 4.498, which is a value that betters the 4.589 set in the previous special edition S208 model. Subaru also reports that its exhaust's ventilation resistance has been reduced by about 60 percent relative to its standard model while better management of airflow from the front intakes have increased the intercooler's cooling capabilities. In terms of handling, the car now wears high grip Michelin made pilot sports 4S tyres and has its suspension revised to give a 10mm lower ride height. Elsewhere, new STI made BBS 18-inch aluminum wheel, dry carbon made aero door mirror cover, a reduction of the windscreen washer tank from 4-litres to 2.5-litres, front and rear sports seats and STI Duracon shift knob help cut down the weight of the car. The car retails for S$60,700, around S$12,000 more than a WRX STI in Japan.
  9. its been sort of my dream affordable sports car since years ago. need auto since wife be driving too. haha. i like this version cos it looks the best, even better then current version what are the ups and downs of owning such a car? thks http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...652&DL=1111
  10. Subaru WRX D.I.Y. Do it yourself everything in a day ! Managed to D.I.Y. connecting a car camera to a direct-wired power supply drawn from the cigarette lighter socket internally, hidden from view, and still able to have access to the stock cigarette lighter socket. Also, a cool peek on how the WRX owner D.I.Y his own STI Inter cooler mist spray ! Followed with a wire mesh wrap for his lower front bumper to prevent bugs and leaves, debris from collecting at the radiator or damaging it from pebbles and road debris. Next I have a requiem short drive in the WRX around the car park in its coil over suspension. It was comfortable actually ! Enjoy the video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6EeFxcCfVU
  11. I am having an issue with my 07 WRX recently. When stopping at traffic light for a long time, my ABS light comes on intermittently and when it does, my voltmeter reading drops below 10 and my radio goes off. After a while the voltmeter reading will go up, the ABS light goes off and the radio comes back on. When moving off, the car feels like there is a loss of power momentarily and will lurch forward for a bit if the ABS light is still on. Once I hit normal speeds the problem disappears. Once in a while the Check Engine Light will come on too. I sent it to a workshop today, and I ended up paying $50 for them to just tell me that there is some part that is probably failing, but there is no way for them to know until there is a permanent light. As the car is going to be scrapped next year, I don't want to spend $$$ on a wild goose chase to fix this problem. But at the same time I am driving Grab at night, so when the car lurches forward it's not comfortable for the passengers as well. I just got this car recently in April. Anyone experienced something similar before and can give advice? Have a short video here of the problem happening (pardon poor quality)https://youtu.be/t77PVht05GA

  15. Hi, Anyone here know the OMV value of subaru Forester and impeza WRX. thanks..
  16. HKS has some new products for the new Subaru WRX STi and got someone to do a short film to show us what they can do to improve the car's daily drivability. The products shown in the beautifully shot video includes its new HIPERMAX MAX IV GT suspension which is said to be able to retain a smooth ride when driving on a rough road surface while still providing a high level cornering performance. Fitment of its HI-POWER SPEC L sports exhaust saves around 10kg of weight when swapped out with the stock exhaust. Re-flashing of the CPU was also done to improve power throughout the rev range. Watch the video to see what rally driver Arai Toshi has to say after the WRX was fitted with the HKS parts! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhVpWF-jOCY
  17. Watch the Porsche Cayman and Subaru WRX STI try to outdrag each other on an empty runway. They might not be direct rivals, but they are currently one of the better performance cars out there. Interestingly, both have Boxer engines and use six-speed manuals but the similarity ends there. Even though the WRX STI is 130kg heavier than the Cayman, it has all-wheel drive and 30bhp more. So who do you think will be the faster car? http://dai.ly/x20d593_2015-subaru-wrx-sti-vs-2014-porsche-cayman-standing-mile_auto
  18. With a few improvements, including a chassis that is 40 percent stiffer compared to the previous generation, made to the new Subaru WRX STi, Subaru decides to make another trip to the re-known Isle of Man TT to reset a new record. Of course, the best person to do that would be Mark Higgins who also drove for them 3 years ago when Subaru came here in their 2011 WRX STi to set the fastest production record for a car. This time round, he managed to best his previous average speed record of 185.65km/h to hit 189.11km/h with a timing of 19 minutes and 16 seconds on the 59.5km course. So was there anything done to the car? Actually yes. Firstly, its a US specification car and it was fitted with a rollcage and had the speed limiter removed. Then comes springs and dampers that are slightly more robust to make sure the body control remains taut on the bumpy roads. Lastly, some upgraded brake pads and Dunlop Direzza tyres make sure the car stops as well as it can go. http://dai.ly/x1zxngd_subaru-tt-challenge-2_auto Read our full review of the new Subaru WRX STi here
  19. As per topic. The STI launching tomorrow at $207,400 tentative price. I hope it is not true if not the fate will end up like the Honda Accord. I have not even seen one new Accord on the road so far https://sg.news.yahoo.com/subaru-wrx-set-singapore-bow-163803996.html

  21. Subaru tries to turn up the heat on its latest boyracer - the WRX STI - with a twin of viral videos. http://dai.ly/x1g7b3o The first commercial is also a preview of a short film that will be launched by Subaru. Called 'The ride of her life', the 1970s-themed video is no doubt dated, and a little corny. But it should serve up some old school entertainment, where the female lead decides to leave with her dream boy (and the STI, of course). http://dai.ly/x1g79bl But it is the second short video that gets our vote - a race between the STI (in scaled down form) and some StickBombs. Thanks to some digital wizardy, the race looks very cool. Now jump to the videos and decide which does it better.
  22. Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, has just unveiled the all-new WRX STI (US specifications) at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) currently being held in Detroit, Michigan. As the top grade model of the WRX series, the new WRX STI embodies at an even higher level the shared product series concept: “Pure Power in Your Control”. Starting with the base WRX model, Subaru has equipped the WRX STI with the powerful, motorsport-proven 2.5-liter Horizontally-Opposed turbo engine, an exclusively-tuned suspension for enhanced rigidity, multi-mode DCCD (Driver’s Control Center Differential) and more. During development, Subaru honed the driveability of the new WRX STI to perfection, testing it under various driving conditions in several countries. As with past generations of the WRX STI, testing included ultra-high speed road testing on Germany's Nürburgring circuit, known for its harsh road conditions. Through this process, Subaru has raised performance for the body, chassis and other vehicle areas to the limit and fused them into one. This has elevated overall vehicle performance, resulting in the pinnacle of Subaru AWD sport performance with predictable high power at the driver's fingertips.

  24. Nothing is official yet, but we hear that the local distributor may be bringing in the four-door bodystyle of the WRX STi. This is good news for the local fans of Japanese sports cars after the dust from the Toyota 86 and Subaru's own BRZ has settled. From the late 90s to the early 2000s, its arch rival - the Mitsubishi Evolution - and itself, carved out a niche for themselves with their boombastic point and shoot performance. Its basic iteration, the Impreza WRX, was easily the best bang for buck performance car in Singapore when the price of COE was low. All the local racing wannabes hankered after one. Fast forward to today, soaring COEs and the onslaught of German hot hatches contributed to the falling appeal of these wonderful rally reps. We are hoping the new four-door body will come soon and allow the newer generation of drivers to taste the magic of these rally-inspired turbocharged AWD sedans. And yes, there may also be a automatic version too for those who prefer a less frantic experience.
  25. [extract] The next Subaru WRX and WRX STI are definitely undergoing some changes. Just two months ago, senior representatives of the company from various markets gather in Japan to discuss the model
