  5. Hi all, doing my homework on selling my cars. I prefer not to trade in. Any feedback on using the following to sell our cars? 1) Wheeldeal - new player, FOC quote 2) Quotz - need to pay for service, they help you take pictures and arrange for bidding, can view bidding process "live" 3) List on SGCarmart as owner selling - more control, can sell direct cutting out the middleman, more hassle from the transfer work? Are there any difference in the method of choice in selling depending on the type and model of cars? eg. bread and butter popular models (altis, sunny, civic) just sell to highest and hand dealer eg. rarer less common and niche models (saab, chryser) list and sell to direct buyers who appreciate such cars Thanks!

    MCF Hangout with Citroen

80 MyCarForum (MCF) members and their loved ones gathered at Masons at Gillman Barracks on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Christmas with Citroen Singapore. Aside from a sumptuous brunch, the event was an opportunity for MCF members to learn more about the Citroen brand and its latest range, in particular its C3 Aircross, which is in the running for sgCarMart's Compact Crossover of the Year 2018. During the event, sgCarMart's Deputy Editor Nigel Yong shared his experience driving the C3 Aircross, which he describes as 'a quirky-looking compact crossover that's highly practical'. "The C3 Aircross, with its pudgy proportions, slatted rear quarter glass and animated two-tier headlamps, is so unorthodox that you can't help but love it. And thanks to the PSA Group's PureTech 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine that powers it, supplying 110bhp and 205Nm of torque to the front wheels, there's enough spirited performance for zipping around town. More importantly, the amount of storage bins and cup holders on offer meet the standards of its class, while its 410-litre boot is big enough for a family's needs," he said. Dave Wong, Senior Manager Sales & Marketing, Cycle & Carriage France, continued by giving the guests further insights into the rest of Citroen's history, technology and range, which currently comprises the C4 Cactus and Grand C4 SpaceTourer, too. At the same time, guests had the opportunity to test drive the full range of Citroen models, while those who were waiting for their turns enjoyed quizzes and a round of Bingo. Of course, in the spirit of giving, some lucky MCF members also walked away with attractive Christmas hampers. All smiles behind the wheel of the Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer! sgCarMart's Deputy Editor Nigel Yong shares what he likes about the C3 Aircross. Guests learn more about the Citroen brand and its products from Dave Wong, Senior Manager Sales & Marketing, Cycle & Carriage France. Tummies have to be filled! Fun and games for guests of all ages! In true MCF Hangout tradition, everyone goes home happy! Those who have graced the event, and have yet to pen down their reviews of the Citroen cars they drove, can submit one here! Click here to see more photos from the event.
  9. Feeling the heat of competition from online sites, used car traders are banding together to set up their own portal. A group of 20 traders led by Mr Eddie Loo, managing director of CarTimes Automobile, is raising $5 million with the aim of rolling out the site by early next year. "The online presence is eating into dealers' business," Mr. Loo told The Straits Times. "We need to protect our business before it's all taken away from us." He said competition has been coming fast and furious, in the form of such entities as sgCarMart, Carousell, Carros and ------. "And we find it's meaningless for us to support these online portals when they are competing with us," he added. Carousell, for instance, has muscled into the car domain, while sgCarMart has just started a car financial services arm. "Our aim is to become the largest online portal... to create a new marketplace for dealers," Mr. Loo said, adding that the yet-to-be-named site will be run by 'a professional team'. "It won't be run by dealers, so that it won't be one-sided," he added. "Every dealer will have a stake, so that their interest is protected." He said the business-to-consumer site will cater to motorists who want to buy or sell vehicles, and it could eventually allow deals to be done fully online. "It's still preliminary," he added. "The $5 million is just the first phase." Mr. Loo said the investment will go into hiring a team as well as marketing efforts. "There's a lot of marketing to be done," he noted. The used car trade is in the doldrums on account of depressed Certificate of Entitlement (COE) prices, which have rendered vehicle stocks bought with higher premiums commercially unviable. The slowdown, which started in July when COEs for cars up to 1,600cc fell to eight-year lows, has claimed at least one company. Shen Tat Enterprises has shut down after nearly 30 years in the business. ST PREMIUM article. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/used-car-dealers-to-set-up-largest-online-portal
  10. SINGAPORE - Singapore Press Holdings-owned sgCarMart has started a financial services arm to muscle in on the billion-dollar car-financing market. The car portal will offer financing to used car dealers for their vehicle inventory as well as to car dealers to offer hire purchase loans to buyers. sgCarMart's wholly-owned online auction subsidiary, Quotz, will take a 30 per cent stake in sgCarMart Financial Services for $1.5 million. The remaining 70 per cent of the venture is held by T Financial (51 per cent) and five other parties, SPH said in an announcement to the Singapore Exchange. T Financial is a fully-owned subsidiary of Toh Capital, which used to be a major shareholder in four used car dealerships. The other shareholders are car trader Lake View Group and individual investors from the management team of sgCarMart. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/sgcarmart-moves-into-financial-services?utm_medium=Social&xtor=CS1-10&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1541585998

    SGCARMART or Carousell?

Hi bros and sis here. I'm looking to sell my car well actually toying with the idea for now. So I would like to ask if you are planning to sell your vehicle, which platform do you go to? I am not rushing to sell it so I am ok with the idea of selling it off myself even if it will take a little more time. I know that currently the ad fees for sgcarmart is now $58 till you sell off your car. I think it used to be $48 for 6 weeks only. $58 seems ok if it means being able to post till it's being sold. But, if it's unsold are you able to get back the ad fees? Haha.. And after sometime will my ads be pushed down by newer ads? Hope some bros can clarify some of my doubts as I think all of you are much more familiar with how the system works. Also.. Carousell has been my preferred platform to sell off my used stuff etc and it is relatively effective! I have seen many car ads on Carousell as well, and there is Carousell Motor. Carousell and Carousell Motor they are not the same platform? Do you need to pay to advertise there, and how does it work? Honestly I think Carousell is a good platform to sell of my unwanted stuff but not so sure about using it to sell my car. Lowballers, have to entertain messages on PM and honestly it looks quite confusing. For eg if i type Mitsubishi Lancer there are rental ads, car parts for mit lancer appearing etc. Are the younger generations using Carousell to sell off their cars now? Whats your preferred choice now?

  14. As there has not been any thread set up for this year’s sgcarmart 2017 Car of the Year, i have included the link to create awareness as there are prizes to be won as well. http://www.sgcarmart.com/coty2017/ Strange thing though is that there doesnt seem to be a category for MPVs unlike previous years. Good luck guys!!

10 most popular used car posts in November

Looking for a used car and have no idea which one's cool to get? Or want to know how you can make your car more visible in the sea of used cars on sale? Here's a recap of our 10 most popular used cars posted in November. While some of them are sold, there are still cars out there for sale! Do note that the cars shown here are not ranked in order of popularity. 2009 Honda Civic Mugen RR One of the only two units in town and only 300 units in the world. There are probably more Paganis in Singapore... Only true Honda fans will want one. 1993 Mazda RX-7 Efini One of Japan's all-time greats. Likely to have less than 10 units in Singapore. This particular unit has been spot welded to increase body rigidity. 2007 Mitsubishi Evolution 10 GSR 60 grand worth of parts spent on this blue chrome-wrapped Evo X. Not for those who want to be discreet. 2012 BMW M Series M3 Sedan Here's a good example of how we would do up a V8 M3. A good tune with an Akrapovic Exhaust will definitely make the car a better drive. 2017 Ford Focus RS 2.5M One of the best hot hatches on sale. Enough said. 2009 BMW 1 Series 135i Coupe The mod list on this 500bhp 135i Coupe is pretty extensive. You could say whatever could have been upgraded, had been upgraded. Should be quite a beast to pilot. 1998 Subaru Impreza WRX 2.0M This is a very rare WRC 555 special edition WRX according to the ad. Engine has also been strengthened for a power upgrade. 2008 Mitsubishi Evolution 10 GSR Street-tuned Evo X for those that want a good balance of practicality and driving fun. 2006 Lexus IS250 Luxury For those into the stance culture, this is the perfect car for you. Comes with quite a bit of other mods, too, apart from the air suspension. 2008 Nissan GT-R 3.8A Have a need for speed? With 700bhp, you should have more than enough power for use in Singapore.

  19. Was looking for a used car which has 2-3 years left. Seems like used cars with 2-3 years left have ridiculously high depreciation, some cases even higher than brand new cars or those that are 1-2 years old? This is especially so for the popular ones like altis and camry where you can get the brand new ones for lower depreciation, with warranty and 5 years free servicing. I can understand the loan restriction probably pushed the price of these used cars up, but are this pricing really what is happening if I walk into a used car dealership?
  20. Hope I didn't post in the wrong section! But has anyone noticed that SGCarmart has been down lately?
  21. When searching SG Carmart on Mobile - it gives me annual depreciation For the desktop version I can't see this How?
  22. Being very busy lately...............but still I think need to show appreciation and a thank you to sgcarmart for the platform provided to sell cars ourselves.......... The story goes as I wanted to sell my car..............instead of going around asking dealers for quotes (usually dealers will squeeze you real hard)...................I went to sgcarmart Quotz.............filled up a form and went for the sales by bidding.............the whole process was simple and easy ( filled up form.....got a call...went down for photo taking......filled up some forms.....paid $107....and wait for bidding close)........ Well............the highest bidding price by the closing time did not meet my expectation.............but was higher than their guaranteed price...................so no go and Quotz gets to keep my $107......... so sad.... By now I had an idea of how much my car can fetch from dealers.....................so went ahead paid $48 and "POST AN AD" and sell it myself as direct seller in sgcarmart............posted the ad on Friday evening.............Sat phone rang and after a few viewings.............say bye bye to my work horse.............with a sales amount of $7000 over dealers highest bid price.................wooooohooooooo............. These could not have happen without the sgcarmart platform and the simplified procedures provided by sgcarmart..........and the forms for DIY sales were really helpful and useful!!!!............ Now looking to buy a car from direct seller and save some money............looks like I will be going the DIY way in future dealings as well............ Thank you SGCARMART....................and well done guys!!!!
  23. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=452834&DL=1213 Hi all, my previous car , SSS, is on sale now! to republic auto. real mileage was reflected , no tampering at all!!! their profit margin quite low.. around 5% only.. I just change my tire and engine mounting not long ago. This car was well taken care of and serviced promptly... If you are interested in this car, you can PM me to ask me anything! i would let you know 1 or 2 things that you might need to change.. otherwise, its a good run horse!!!
  24. Bros... Anyone knows why some car ads the price stated is much higher than the prevailing market price? In fact it's even higher than a new purchase? Is it to try to get higher loan for the buyer? http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=489360&DL=1000 But wouldn't the banks check and know this doesn't make sense? Usually how much margin can Seller's try this tactic? Thx
  25. Saw a taxi with MCF sticker advert outside Downtown MRT just now and then 5mins later saw another taxi this time with SGcarmart sticker advert outside MBFC, cool man👍
