  1. In 2016, a 59-year-old Singaporean engineer drove his Nissan GT-R for 16,000 km from Singapore to the Everest Base Camp in Tibet and back. Now, the legendary vehicle is up for sale on sgCarMart! A grandfather of one, Mr Hoong, wanted to test the limits of the GT-R as stated by Nissan. The car manufacturer claimed that the vehicle is a supercar that can be driven by anyone, anytime, anywhere. Nicknamed Godzilla, the 2008 GT-R only acted up only once throughout the entire odyssey. According to the Straits Times, Mr Hoong took 22 days to arrive at the Everest Base Camp (North) with a Tibetan guide. He then took another 20 days to drive back to Singapore, clocking 16,000 km and 2,600 litres of fuel. Additionally, Mr Hoong made several modifications to the car for the journey. The full list can be found in the listing. Being the first of its own to travel to Everest from Singapore and back, the Nissan GT-R is currently going for $218,000 on sgCarMart. With 7 years of COE left, the 2008 Sports Car spits out 473 bhp of power with an engine cap of 3,799 cc. Equipped with a premium Bose sound system, the vehicle still has its original grey seats and is in tip-top condition. If you're looking to own a piece of national history, check out the full listing here! *This is not a sponsored ad. This is not an ad, period.

  11. https://www.sgcarmart.com/coty2020/vote.php Does anybody know how the cars are nominated? Is it the dealers must pay money to sgcarmart to get featured in each of the "contest" category? Got a few puzzling omissions that I cant get my head around! Like how on earth the Honda Jazz/Fit, which is probably the best selling compact hatchback is not even on the list and instead it's the MB Space Star and Seat Ibiza vying for the honours lol! Just look at the Honda HB sales figures! Also the beloved Avante (not me, but guessing from the ever popular thread) is nowhere to be seen?! https://www.lta.gov.sg/content/dam/ltagov/who_we_are/statistics_and_publications/statistics/pdf/M03-Car_Regn_by_make.pdf

    sgCarMart goes live with Volkswagen!

Volkswagen is a brand that has undergone immense change in the past year alone, and its new identity is manifest in its new logo that embraces a new digital age. So being as curious as we are, we naturally decided to head down to the local Volkswagen showroom at 247 Alexandra Road to host a Facebook livestream for our second E-markdown, as well as to see what's up from a brand that is at the forefront of the many changes occurring through the industry. Thankfully, you now don't even have to bother with putting on a mask or dealing with check-ins to get your hands on the latest deals from Volkswagen Singapore, thanks to our live Facebook event, which allows you to shop for your favourite cars, and ask questions about them, from the comfort of your own home! You can catch the livestream, or any other future ones for that matter, simply by checking in or following sgCarMart's Facebook page! Regular MCF members would have also noticed the thread about upcoming sgCarMart and MyCarForum events on the Lite & EZ section, while Facebook users can easily register their interest for the event on sgCarMart and Volkswagen Singapore's Facebook page to get a notification when the stream goes live. Make sure you do not miss on any of our livestream events in the future! The duo that you'll recognise from our video reviews first introduced the Volkswagen Tiguan R-line. The SUV got to show off its many convenience features live on Facebook, from its unique cupholder design to its generous rear legroom and electric tailgate, features which are sure to impress anyone! To those that are still uninitiated, the R-line cars gives customers the option of adding a little sporty flavour courtesy of the Volkswagen R performance division, which is responsible for the firm's blistering performance products such as the Volkswagen Golf R. So in the Tiguan R-line you get added goodies such as the sports steering wheel, R-line exclusive front scuff plate, and the R-Line exterior styling package, allowing you to deck your SUV with a sportier look if desired. Those that commented with their most creative explaination as to they would buy a Tiguan while the car was presented also got a chance to win a $20 shopping voucher! And before we moved onto the second featured car, a brief introduction was also delivered for Volkswagen's new logo, which has been redesigned to be more modern and refined. Want to learn more? The full livestream is still available for those that missed it, so even those that missed it can still learn more about the brand here. And onto the Volkswagen Golf, our presenters both agreed on how ubiquitous the Golf is, making it a car that suits anyone, regardless of age or job! As with the Tiguan, those that commented with creative comments on why they would buy a Golf stood a chance to win their $20 shopping vouchers as well! At the end of the evening, three lucky winners were also picked as part of a lucky draw from all those that simply typed 'Volkswagen' into the chat and walked away with $100 worth of petrol vouchers! Then you've come to exactly the right place. Over the weekend of the livestream, all viewers had to to do was to key in the promo code 'ILOVESGCM' when shopping at Volkswagen's online store and they would have been able to redeem a $500 petrol voucher and a $500 shopping voucher when you put in your refundable deposit for a car. Viewers of the livestream also got to shop for both cars at livestream exclusive prices, with the Tiguan Highline starting at $154,900, and the R-line SUV for just $139,900! (List prices at $139,900 and $175,900 respectively). Those more interested in the Volkswagen Golf also got to enjoy massive discounts, with prices slashed to $107,900 for the Golf R-Line ComfortLine, and to $119,900 for the Golf R-Line HighLine! (List prices for both variants are $131,400 and $148,900 respectively). Even if you've missed the deals offered through the weekend, the online store prices are still as attractive as it gets, so why not hurry over to Volkswagen's online store to see what deals are still available to you, or better yet, head down to Volkswagen's showroom at 247 Alexandra Road to see the rest of Volkswagen Singapore's full range of cars yourself!
  13. Hi all, doing my homework on selling my cars. I prefer not to trade in. Any feedback on using the following to sell our cars? 1) Wheeldeal - new player, FOC quote 2) Quotz - need to pay for service, they help you take pictures and arrange for bidding, can view bidding process "live" 3) List on SGCarmart as owner selling - more control, can sell direct cutting out the middleman, more hassle from the transfer work? Are there any difference in the method of choice in selling depending on the type and model of cars? eg. bread and butter popular models (altis, sunny, civic) just sell to highest and hand dealer eg. rarer less common and niche models (saab, chryser) list and sell to direct buyers who appreciate such cars Thanks!

    sgCarMart goes live with Skoda!

The first ever sgCarMart E-MarkDown with Skoda saw over 500 viewers introduced to the best deals online through an engaging Facebook live session. Nothing can stop sgCarMart and Skoda from getting the best deals for its members and followers. That is why, in post-pandemic 2020, the first-ever sgCarMart E-MarkDown event was kicked off with a Facebook livestream at the familiar Skoda showroom at 26 Leng Kee Road, hosted by the entertaining duo, Julian and Idris, from sgCarMart's Editorial Team. If you are familiar with the past sgCarMart and MyCarForum MarkDown events, you will know that it is the one to attend if you are seeking the best deals on any car purchased. The E-MarkDown event does the same, allowing you to enjoy the same great deals and attractive prizes from the comfort and safety of your home, on a virtual livestream. Without "wasting any youth" (as Julian often quotes), the Octavia's enormous boot was put in the spotlight. With 590 litres of boot space, it offers more stowage capacity than larger cars such as the Toyota Camry! Viewers were invited to like, share and comment 'Skoda Smart' on the livestream to stand a chance to win grocery vouchers worth up to $100! The dynamic duo moved on to introduce the abundant features in the Skoda Octavia, including 7 airbags which ensure the safety of driver and passengers. With lucky winners of the Octavia quiz selected, the special, special price of the Octavia Ambition and Ambition Plus were revealed - starting from just $99,900! The first 20 viewers who commented "Octavia Now" will also be getting an Apple iPad Pro worth $1,500 with their purchase of an Octavia! The next ride of the day was the mighty Skoda Karoq, the perfect SUV for the modern family. The Karoq Ambition was also up for grabs at a special price of $116,900, the first 20 viewers who commented "Karoq Now" will also be getting an Apple iPad Pro worth $1,500 with their purchase of athe Karoq! Talk about a great deal! It even comes with a seatbelt for man's best friend, Doggo! The VarioFlex seats in the Karoq also ensures maximum versatility with independently adjustable and removable seats at the rear. The evening ended with three extremely lucky winners who stayed with our lovable hosts till the end and walked away with $100 grocery vouchers each! Hoping it was you who walked away with a big prize? Be sure to join us at the next sgCarMart E-MarkDown stream! Missed the livestream yesterday? Fret not, you can enjoy all of Julian and Idris' banters and informative explanations here! Be sure to drop a message at Skoda Singapore's Facebook page if you are interested in either the Octavia or Karoq!

    MCF Hangout with Citroen

80 MyCarForum (MCF) members and their loved ones gathered at Masons at Gillman Barracks on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Christmas with Citroen Singapore. Aside from a sumptuous brunch, the event was an opportunity for MCF members to learn more about the Citroen brand and its latest range, in particular its C3 Aircross, which is in the running for sgCarMart's Compact Crossover of the Year 2018. During the event, sgCarMart's Deputy Editor Nigel Yong shared his experience driving the C3 Aircross, which he describes as 'a quirky-looking compact crossover that's highly practical'. "The C3 Aircross, with its pudgy proportions, slatted rear quarter glass and animated two-tier headlamps, is so unorthodox that you can't help but love it. And thanks to the PSA Group's PureTech 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine that powers it, supplying 110bhp and 205Nm of torque to the front wheels, there's enough spirited performance for zipping around town. More importantly, the amount of storage bins and cup holders on offer meet the standards of its class, while its 410-litre boot is big enough for a family's needs," he said. Dave Wong, Senior Manager Sales & Marketing, Cycle & Carriage France, continued by giving the guests further insights into the rest of Citroen's history, technology and range, which currently comprises the C4 Cactus and Grand C4 SpaceTourer, too. At the same time, guests had the opportunity to test drive the full range of Citroen models, while those who were waiting for their turns enjoyed quizzes and a round of Bingo. Of course, in the spirit of giving, some lucky MCF members also walked away with attractive Christmas hampers. All smiles behind the wheel of the Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer! sgCarMart's Deputy Editor Nigel Yong shares what he likes about the C3 Aircross. Guests learn more about the Citroen brand and its products from Dave Wong, Senior Manager Sales & Marketing, Cycle & Carriage France. Tummies have to be filled! Fun and games for guests of all ages! In true MCF Hangout tradition, everyone goes home happy! Those who have graced the event, and have yet to pen down their reviews of the Citroen cars they drove, can submit one here! Click here to see more photos from the event.
  23. Feeling the heat of competition from online sites, used car traders are banding together to set up their own portal. A group of 20 traders led by Mr Eddie Loo, managing director of CarTimes Automobile, is raising $5 million with the aim of rolling out the site by early next year. "The online presence is eating into dealers' business," Mr. Loo told The Straits Times. "We need to protect our business before it's all taken away from us." He said competition has been coming fast and furious, in the form of such entities as sgCarMart, Carousell, Carros and ------. "And we find it's meaningless for us to support these online portals when they are competing with us," he added. Carousell, for instance, has muscled into the car domain, while sgCarMart has just started a car financial services arm. "Our aim is to become the largest online portal... to create a new marketplace for dealers," Mr. Loo said, adding that the yet-to-be-named site will be run by 'a professional team'. "It won't be run by dealers, so that it won't be one-sided," he added. "Every dealer will have a stake, so that their interest is protected." He said the business-to-consumer site will cater to motorists who want to buy or sell vehicles, and it could eventually allow deals to be done fully online. "It's still preliminary," he added. "The $5 million is just the first phase." Mr. Loo said the investment will go into hiring a team as well as marketing efforts. "There's a lot of marketing to be done," he noted. The used car trade is in the doldrums on account of depressed Certificate of Entitlement (COE) prices, which have rendered vehicle stocks bought with higher premiums commercially unviable. The slowdown, which started in July when COEs for cars up to 1,600cc fell to eight-year lows, has claimed at least one company. Shen Tat Enterprises has shut down after nearly 30 years in the business. ST PREMIUM article. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/used-car-dealers-to-set-up-largest-online-portal
  24. SINGAPORE - Singapore Press Holdings-owned sgCarMart has started a financial services arm to muscle in on the billion-dollar car-financing market. The car portal will offer financing to used car dealers for their vehicle inventory as well as to car dealers to offer hire purchase loans to buyers. sgCarMart's wholly-owned online auction subsidiary, Quotz, will take a 30 per cent stake in sgCarMart Financial Services for $1.5 million. The remaining 70 per cent of the venture is held by T Financial (51 per cent) and five other parties, SPH said in an announcement to the Singapore Exchange. T Financial is a fully-owned subsidiary of Toh Capital, which used to be a major shareholder in four used car dealerships. The other shareholders are car trader Lake View Group and individual investors from the management team of sgCarMart. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/sgcarmart-moves-into-financial-services?utm_medium=Social&xtor=CS1-10&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1541585998
