  2. Out-pro date crash with business trip departure date. Can speak to OC and get OC speak to CO for early release? Do they need any form of verification on my trip before they can release me? And, anyone encounter did a medical review one month before ICT? I was told by unit's medical center that my actual Pes Status (temp Pes E now) will be known after 3 months after my medical (July). I questioned back to the person from medical center what will be my Pes status then (from august to November) during in-camp training they cannot give me an answer. Seriously, the f--king SAF is a major screw up. My medical review was actually on March this year but due to their system fault and all slot's taken up, i had to wait for an SAF100 for medical review to be sent to me which scheduled this July instead which causes SO f--king many problems with my Pes Status, My business trip crashes with out-pro date etc. I am so pissed off right now.
  3. is it because of high performance causing more heat production togethrr with poor maintanence which causes fires in the cars? or is it other factors? we often hear of ferrari, lambo, bmw cars catching fires on the roads. anyone got any views on this? can prevent it one?

  7. Disparity in tertiary education facilities by Kwek Jian Qiang 04:45 AM Dec 26, 2011 Singapore has often been accorded the honour of having one of the best education systems. Our students rank high in their scores, from mathematics to other subjects. There are, though, significant disparities in the quality of learning environments. When my grandmother visited Singapore this year, one of her most striking comments was when she saw a sparkling, shiny Institute of Technical Education (ITE) "skyscraper" campus. Her first impression was that, in such a quality school environment, the students would be the best and brightest in Singapore. It took me a while to convince her otherwise and her look of dismay was apparent. Indeed, a question should be raised: In a system where people are rewarded according to merit, why are our best and brightest not getting the best learning environments? I once attended a seminar at ITE College East. The interior was like a plush hotel: Sleek floors, plush lecture theatre chairs, high-quality tables - quality exceeding that found in our polytechnics and junior colleges (JC). From the exterior, with an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a stadium stand, it looked like it was made for the Youth Olympics. What saddened me, though, was the graffiti on the tables and chairs. Apparently, the students do not cherish what they have. Should any JC or polytechnic student have access to such quality facilities, I have no doubt they would appreciate it better. There is a need to equalise government spending on school facilities. Campuses such as Anderson JC's and Victoria JC's pale in comparison to ITE College East's. Our brightest students, who will become Singapore's future leaders, should get the best facilities in order to excel and grow. We should reward according to merit. The writer is a JC student.
  8. I like the body configuration of the RX8:- 4-seater, with better than 2-door access for the rear passengers by use of rear-half-doors. But my concern of high maintenance etc of the rotary engine (which doesnt really improve performance by a lot vs mazda 2.3 turbo engine) keep me away from this model. If Mazda produced the RX8 with a more convention power plant like the 2.3L T as an alternative, they may sell more RX8s? Similarly, proven engines like the old evo engine or the STi engine can also be used in other models for more ommphs.... The Jazz/Fit lineup also lacks a performance version wherelse Polo, etc have it. A great body needs a great engine to produce a winner while the B&B verison can continue to sell to the general car buyers. What other mix-and-match models you can think of?
  9. Man pays 'sinseh' $12k, ends up losing both kidneys Wednesday, Mar 07, 2012 The Star/Asia News Network KUALA LUMPUR - A factory operator lost both his kidneys after seeking treatment from a so-called sinseh, who used at least 60 needles to poke his head and abdomen "to flush toxins out of his body". Besides getting an infection after just two sessions, Wong Kim Min, 47, said his abdomen was also bloated for some time. Wong, who has been suffering from kidney problems for the past 10 years, said he consulted the sinseh, known as Dr Lau, on July 5 last year. The sinseh, in his late 20s, was introduced to him by a friend. "He claimed that he could treat me as my problem was just a minor medical condition," Wong said, adding that he was asked to pay RM30,000. As part of the treatment, the sinseh used needles to poke Wong's head and abdomen without giving any anaesthetic. "After the first session, I suffered severe pain and started developing high fever. My abdomen was also swollen," he said. "I called Dr Lau but he advised me not to seek treatment at any hospital as I would be given antibiotics which would worsen my condition," he told a press conference organised by MCA Public Services and Complaints Depart-ment head Datuk Seri Michael Chong here yesterday. Wong said three days later, he went back for a second treatment session whereby syringes were used on him again. "My situation worsened after that. I could no longer urinate, so I decided to seek treatment four days later at Ampang Hospital where I was told that blood clots had blocked my urinary tract." Wong said he was transferred to Kuala Lumpur Hospital the next day but his condition was so bad that the doctors had to remove both kidneys to save his life. He was discharged 38 days later. Wong said he now has to undergo dialysis every two days. "I cannot urinate because I do not have a kidney and I am only allowed to drink 300ml of water a day," he said, adding that he also suffers from sleeplessness and dizziness. Wong's lawyer Tan Kim Soon said a police report had been lodged against the practitioner on Jan 31. "He was then arrested and remanded. However, in a letter dated Feb 10, my client was told by the police that no further action could be taken against the sinseh due to lack of evidence," he said. He said he would write a letter on behalf of Wong to ask the police to review the case.

  12. Why the delay in reporting news of such magnitude? Thursday, 26 January 2012 Singapore Democrats Ms Saw Phaik Hwa made her decision to resign as SMRT CEO on 7 December 2011 but the public only came to know about it one month later on 6 January 2012. Central Narcotics Bureau Director Ng Boon Gay was arrested in December last year and Singapore Civil Defence Force chief Peter Lim on 4 January this year for unspecified wrongdoing. But the news was kept from the public for until now. The news were not run-of-the-mill stories; they involved incompetence and wrongdoing that ran at the highest reaches of the PAP establishment. In Ms Saw's case, she had, under intense pressure from the public to resign, signaled her willingness to step down immediately after the disastrous breakdown of train services in November last year. How is it then that when she finally decided to do so, the news managed to evade the media for an entire month? Similarly, Messrs Ng's and Lim's arrests managed to avoid media detection for more than a month. One was the chief of a police outfit that deals with the underworld of drugs and the other charged with responsibility of saving lives during emergencies and disasters. Yet, the Prime Minister's Office managed to shield the news from the public for such a long time. Or was it a case where the Singapore Press Holdings and MediaCorps were briefed about the developments but were instructed not to publish the stories until a later and more convenient time. Either way, Singaporeans were done a terrible disservice. In this day and age, it is important that society is kept informed of goings-on as soon as they happen. Transparency is the key word. Hoarding information by the state is a dangerous game to play and could lead to serious consequences for the country. But why was the news withheld? One big, highly charged issue that took front and centre of the political stage during this period was the ministerial pay. The PAP was already having a difficult persuading Singaporeans of its reasons for paying ministers the high salaries. The botched handling of the train breakdowns made it impossible for the Government to portray itself as competent and efficient. Ms Saw's resignation, if announced before the release of Gerard Ee's Committee to Review Ministerial Salaries, would have reinforced the public's view that the ministers do not deserve their huge salaries. Hence, the announcement of her resignation news on 6 January
  13. I think someone have posted this video and singer before in this forum. (Thats how I knew about this singer 1-2 years ago) I think it would be nice to share it with the others that don't know of this amazing singer. Now comes the billion dollar question. What ways are there are to achieve such a high pitch? For me, maybe it would be a Ferrari travelling at 200 mph then it rammed my balls, maybe only then I would be able to produce such a high pitch.
  14. sharing this info... especially for drivers who change their own oil... Last oil change... N today's oil change... I poured in my usual measured amount (measured with measuring cylinders)... But oil was a lot above H mark... Even after starting engine n measuring with dip stick immediately. So today I seriously thought I didn't do a good job in draining my old oil... Maybe car was not on proper level ground... So when I checked my oil again a few hours after my oil change, I was prepared to drain some oil out... But when I pull out my my dip stick... Knn the yellow handle came off and the metal dip stick fell into the hole... WTF... maybe too many times measure oil level until handle came loose... hahaha... thank god i had a screw driver with a magnetic extendable tip (i bought many years back from a cute mei mei walking ard selling it at Maxwell market)... got my metal part of the dip stick out and fixed it back to the handle and measured my oil level and it was normal... wahhh.. heng sia... lucky i didnt drain any oil out... if not confirm oil pressure light sure come out and god knows what damage i might cause... hahaha... just sharing....

  20. Tonight traveling along River Valley Rd towards Alexandra Rd direction, taxi in front slowed down to turn right to a condo. Me and taxi were both on extreme right lane. Suddenly a black Lexus GS 450h came from behind me onto my right...no prizes for guessing which lane it was on...overtook me and the taxi before the taxi could turn right! When I reach the Scotts Rd junction, the GS was in front of me, all the stunts to gain one car ahead. light turns green, we both turn right. On coming car already passed it's line, GS 450h just turned right without any care in the world. I was thinking then, such a perfect Lexus...at least to me...but in the hands of idiots, it becomes a potential killing machine. Even if it is wife in labour in Mt E doesn't warrant driving like that.
  21. In Singapore I mean, is there any private property worth investing in with only $500K? I see alot of "Mickey Mouse" 400sf units for sale around this price ($500K), but are this type of units easy to rent out (must be able to cover the monthly installment and other costs) and easy to sell away?
  22. Company gives mercs!!! so envy wor... in sg context, no matter how hard u work once a mistake is made dan forever u will be condemned not considering the past contributions...

  24. Why do I have soooo many unpleasant encounters with aunties?? Be it at the MRT platform tackling me, the grouchy yu tiao aunty at LPS, the many aunties I see on the roads, both drivers and pedestrians . . . . . THIS ONE takes the cake! Was down at ICA last week to apply for my new passpoot (passport) after my online application got rejected due to the grainy photo I uploaded. After I had settled everything, we (together with my wife and kiddo) headed down to the "foodcourt" for a snack. Place was packed but we managed to get a table. I proceeded to join the queue for food. Ordered drinks and 3 popiahs, ah tiong making them so it took some time as he was fumbling a bit. Went back to my table with the drinks and food after 15 mins! There was this aunty seated opposite a Indian guy who was sipping tea. The moment I sat down, the aunty mumbled loudly in Mandarin "Kwai dian chi, wo de si wu yao lai le" Translated "Quickly eat, my food is coming" I was like huh?? She could not be speaking to the Indian guy right? Looking around, I realised that she could be "talking" to me. Feigning ignorance, I began to eat slowly. After a minute . . . . she mumbled again but without looking in my direction "Kwai dian chi, wo de si wu yao lai le!" I looked up at the Indian guy who was now looking at me bewildered . . . . "Huh?" I said to him. He shrugged his shoulders. I looked at the aunty who was seated beside me but she did not turn to face me. Then I realised that her companion was in the queue for the food and she had wanted me to finish my food before her friend come back. In the end, the Indian guy finished his drink and walked off. Aiyah seow arhh you!! This kind of people also have.
