Lamborghini has released a new video that gives us our first look at the 2015 Huracán LP 610-4 in action. The Huracán is designed to replace the Gallardo as the Italian automaker's smallest and most affordable model. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewwsgIt6VQg The final installment of a YouTube series dubbed the "Hexagon Project," the video opens as three friends have snuck into Lamborghini's factory in an attempt to be the first to see the Huracan. Miraculously, they manage to find an unguarded example of the new supercar complete with keys, and proceed to take it for a spirited drive full of drifting and donuts before a team of security guards brings the fun to an end. I believe owning a Lamborghini is surely a proud thing for pretty much everyone in the world. When you drive a car like the Aventador, for example, passers-by will most likely think that you're one hell of a successful person - besides the natural jealousy that follows after. It seems not everyone can contain their 'feelings' when they come across such successful people. The cyclist in the video is perhaps a good example. While the driver of the black Lamborghini Aventador is trying to pass the road, this cyclist simply stops right in front of the car. Even worse, the cyclist stares down on the owner and even scolds him. I can't seem to figure out if it's because the elderly cyclist thinks that others should respect him instead of him respecting others or that he thinks car drivers should always prioritise cyclists. Or, perhaps this cyclist just doesn't really like cars after all, which is why he is riding a bicycle in the first place? -
This is the Lamborghini Huracan, the replacement for the Gallardo supercar. After numerous spy shots and leaked images Lamborghini has taken the wraps off its baby supercar, which is set for a public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March before making its way to the UK in the autumn. Initial reports suggested the car would be called the Cabrera but Lamborghini has opted instead for Huracan LP 610-4. Like the Gallardo before it, the Huracan name derives from the world of bullfighting, with this particular breed known for its courage and sense of attack. The Huracan follows Lamborghini tradition with an audacious design full of sharp edges and defined creases. It adopts several Aventador styling cues such as the narrow triangular headlights and short bonnet. Viewed in profile, the Huracan is unmistakably Lamborghini, with the rear quarter getting similar upper and lower vents around the engine bay as the Murcielago. Based on an all-new aluminium chassis with structural carbon-fibre elements, the Huracan weighs 1,422kg and will share its platform with the second-generation Audi R8, due in 2015. Nestling behind the driver is an updated version of the 5.2-litre V10 engine delivering 601bhp at 8,250rpm, up from 552bhp in the Gallardo. The engine features new “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” (IDS), direct and indirect gasoline injections which are smartly combined resulting in more power and torque with lower fuel consumption and emissions compared with the Gallardo V10 engine. From a standstill the Huracan will hit 100km/h in 3.2 seconds, and stops as well as it goes, too, thanks to carbon ceramic brakes fitted as standard. Despite the substantial increase in performance, economy has also improved to 9.6km/l while emissions are down from 351g/km to 290g/km. Replacing the clunky old automated manual gearbox is a new seven-speed dual-clutch ‘box delivering power to all four wheels. Three different driving modes – Strada, Sport and Corsa - can be selected from a steering wheel mounted selector – much like the Ferrari 458 Italia’s Manettino switch. Each mode alters the throttle response, traction control and ferocity of the gear changes. The Huracán will be produced at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese on an entirely newly-equipped production line.

The long awaited Lamborghini Gallardo replacement, to be called Huracan

The replacement for the Lamborghini Gallardo will be called Huracan. The name, which means hurricane in Spanish, will adorn the new V10-powered supercar due to be unveiled later this month. Lamborghini was tipped to call the Gallardo successor the Cabrera, but sources has mentioned a strong possibility of the car being called Huracan instead. Lamborghini trademarked then name on April 19, 2012. The word was Mayan for the god of fire, wind and storms, and was then adopted by the Spanish to mean hurricane. The name was trademarked at the same time as Urus – the name for the firm’s SUV concept shown at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2012. The firm also registered Deimos, which hasn’t yet appeared on a car or concept, but could be used for the production version of the SUV, due in 2017. The Huracan is tipped to be powered by an updated version of the current naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox. The engine will develop around 600bhp. It’ll be built on a new aluminium spaceframe platform that will also underpin the next Audi R8 in 2015, albeit with different dimensions. Originally, both the Audi and Lamborghini were to use an updated version of the current R8’s platform. However, an insider told us that having driven the latest 991-generation Porsche 911 Turbo, Audi and Lamborghini engineers decided that a more radical solution would be required to reach the Porsche’s high level of dynamics. The Lamborghini’s design will be inspired by the Sesto Elemento, which debuted in 2010, while the starter button shown on the Huracan teaser website has a similar jet fighter-style flip-up starter button as the Aventador. The Huracan will go into production in the new year, and be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It has big shoes to fill – more examples of the Gallardo have been sold than any other Lamborghini, with 14,022 finding homes in its 10-year production run, which has just come to an end. -

Terminally-ill girl granted wish to ride in a hot pink bull

We came across a video recently, showing how Emilia Palmer, an eight-year old from Kimbolton, Herefordshire in England's West Midlands, got her wish to get a ride in a pink Lamborghini fulfilled. Emilia suffers from a rare lung illness, requiring her to constantly be on oxygen. She made a request through Rays of Sunshine, which is like the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and within days of receiving Emilia's wish, they found someone willing to donate a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster. The owner also allowed the charity to get super car resprayed in an eye-searing, matte pink. The hot pink bull was piloted none other than Top Gear's very own Richard Hammond, who dropped by at Emilia's home for a surprise. Recently this little friendly battle was shared around Facebook and it caught our attention. It is not everyday that we get to see supercars battle on the streets. Or rather we don’t even get to see our local supercars stretch their legs because there is nowhere for them to do it here. Not that we condone street racing... The Lamborghini Aventador in the video leading the chase is nicknamed "Pandaventador" and it seems to have quite a decent following in Malaysia. With probably more than 700bhp sent to all four wheels, it easily leaves the Nissan GT-R behind with its immense acceleration. Heavy traffic? Not an issue with the Aventador as the driver weaves in and out of traffic at breakneck speeds. I am sure most of us reading this love the Lamborghini Gallardo in a way or two. The owner of this particular Gallardo probably thought that loving it means turning it into one of the fastest production tuned car on earth. That means having more than 2,000bhp with the help of two huge turbochargers. Yes, that is no typing error. Unfortunately for him, his Underground Racing tuned Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera's V10 burst into flames instantly after crossing the finish line. Luckily for him, he safely got the car down to a standstill and escaped before anything bad happened. As seen in the video, the car looks pretty much fine other than the need to have a new engine block and some repainting. At least he broke the event’s top speed record by hitting 402km/h. That said, he is still pretty far away from the world record. If you are planning to buy a car, I recommend that you also plan to buy a car insurance policy that you see fit. Just don't take the car insurance policy for granted. As you know, in Singapore, it is compulsory that every car is covered by a car insurance policy. Just recently, London police officers managed to seize a customised Lamborghini Aventador. As it turned out, the car belongs to Nasser Al Thani, a member of the Qatar Royal Family. For your information, this guy is well known for his fondness of showing his supercars to the public in London, the capital city of the Great Britain. The tuned Aventador got impounded because Al Thani didn't have a proper insurance to cover his Italian supercar. While impounding the car, though, the officers seemed to get a little problem at first, due to the limited headroom and low ground clearance that comes as a result of installing aftermarket carbon fibre splitters. So, after all being said, if you love your car and don't want it to get seized by the police, you better start thinking about a suitable and proper car insurance policy.

The Lamborghini Cabrera spotted for the first time ever Earlier, about a week ago, I told you that the Lamborghini Cabrera was likely to make its appearance at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Now, things are getting closer to reality. The supposedly long-awaited Gallardo replacement has finally been spotted for the first time ever and it has been attracting plenty of hype on the World Wide Web. The previously rumoured Lamborghini Cabrera Unlike what most people believed before, it seems that Italian automaker Lamborghini has changed its mind and that the Cabrera will no longer borrow styling cues from the Lamborghini Aventador. Judging from its front fascia from what I can see in the picture, the model is looks pretty similar to the current generation Lamborghini Gallardo. Yet, the bonnet feels rather long somehow, keeping in mind that the raging bull is supposed to carry a mid-mounted engine. It's also likely that the Cabrera will count on a 600bhp V10 engine mated to an AWD drivetrain and an automatic transmission. Oh, a RWD drivetrain may also show up later as a special edition, I believe. Sadly there isn't much else I can tell you for now since the super car isn't likely to be offered for sale for another two years anyway, so we still have plenty of time to find out more, don't we?

Although it was actually first rumoured back in March 2012, there has yet to be any more information regarding the supposedly successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo. To make matters worse, the Italian automaker only unveiled a Gallardo facelift last year when most car enthusiasts were actually expecting the next generation Gallardo. So, it was kind of like a prank from the raging bull. However, it seems that the long wait is about to be over. Pictures have emerged on the internet showing what is believed to be the Lamborghini Cabrera. Judging from the images, I believe they reveal the real deal. Looking at the images of the car, it reminds me of one of the latest models Lamborghini recently introduced to the public. Yes, the Cabrera borrows a lot of styling cues from the Aventador, from its front to the rear fascias. Rumour has it that the Lamborghini Cabrera will count on a V10 engine and that its four wheels will receive a total power output of 600bhp from the car's automatic transmission in addition to a dual clutch system. The latter is a new addition as the raging bull used to employ the single clutch E-Gear system. So, it seems like the long wait for the next generation Lamborghini Gallardo supercar is about to come to an end. What do you think?

Lamborghini Aventador and electric poles kiss one another in Thailand

I don't know about you but, for me, it isn't that easy to imagine when the time will come for me to drive a Lamborghini Aventador, let alone owning one example of one of the world's finest supercars. However, of course, there're people luckier than me that they get to drive such a hyper-powered car within every single day. Only thing is, some of them are probably just not careful enough, like this Thai driver here. Mr. Somkiat Kruwongpaiboon, a 45-year old local businessman, told the police that one of his car tyres blew up as he was heading to his father's funeral ceremony, causing his proud supercar to spin. As a result, the unfortunate Aventador had to 'kiss' (by that, I mean crash into) a number of electric poles as well as trees with its front fascia before it finally came to a halt. Yes, you guessed it right, there's no way that the car wouldn't suffer from a heavy damage after such an incident. The Great Garuda in Hindustan myths However, it was a relief that the Thai businessman survived and only suffered from negligible injuries. According to him, the fact that he survived despite the severe damage to his Italian supercar was all thanks to the amulet he was wearing at that time. It was encrusted in diamond and in the shape of the Great Garuda (which is a God-like character from Hindustan myths). Well, it seems like there're times we need to believe in myths, too. Nevertheless, it seems that perhaps the 690bhp 6.5-litre V12 engine of the Aventador is just too much to handle. You see, that engine, along with its seven-speed single clutch transmission, can push the car from 0-100km/h in a mere 2.9 seconds. To top it off, the raging Italian bull won't stop gaining speed until it reaches at least 349km/h. Judging from the images, it seems like driving a supercar is one thing and, keeping it in one piece is a yet another. So, are you in for a ride in a supercar or would you rather play safe with the average car? -

The current generation Lamborghini Aventador already has what it takes to catch the eyes of people from young to old. If you're a fan of the Italian supercar brand Lamborghini, well, I believe you must have heard of the Urus, the SUV the Italian automaker is planning to build by 2016. It looks aggressive and attractive. However, you aren't likely to get your hands on one, at least not until 2016 at the earliest, even if you have the amount of money it demands, which is US$200,000 (approximately S$251,000). But worry not as the Italian automaker's parent company, Volkswagen (VW) has already given the green light for the mass production of the model. At least, that was stated by Rupert Stadler, Chairman of Audi AG, during the gala dinner of the Grande Giro 50th anniversary tour. For those who don't know, the Grande Giro was Lamborghini's celebration of its 50th anniversary which took place just recently. Nevertheless, if you don't think you can wait any longer, a Chinese automaker known as the Sichuan Yema - which means 'Mustang' - may have an interesting offer. The Chinese company is building an SUV with inspiration from the Lamborghini Urus. It seems that the Chinese version of the SUV may be using a platform similar to that of the Austin Rover Maestro. Two years ago, the company, based in Chengdu, South West China, made a purchase on the platform of the Austin Rover Maestro. Then, not long afterwards, the company began using the platform for its production models. However, since it isn't the actual Lamborghini Urus, I would suggest that you do not expect 100 percent similarity between the Chinese and the actual Italian version of the Urus SUV. Well, it isn't that the Chinese one is totally ugly. Looking at the sides, the sloping roof, and also the rear quarters, it does remind me of the actual Urus. However, the headlamps and taillights are kind of different from the real car. In addition to that, it is in your best interest that you do not expect such a powerful engine (potentially a 600bhp V12 engine) as that of the real Urus. Instead, the SUV from the Chinese 'Mustang' will carry a 1.5-litre engine from Japanese automaker Mitsubishi. This engine will help the Chinese version of the Urus to cruise around Chengdu with a total power output of 143bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm. This SUV from Sichuan Yema is the company's latest SUV. Formerly, the company had also announced quite a lot of new models, all of which were SUVs. Just for your information, the licence possessed by Sichuan Yema only allows it to build SUVs. Unfortunately, keeping in mind that the Chinese automaker has never really managed to deliver their cars to the streets, I wonder if the same will happen to this latest Chinese Urus as well. If you want a comparison, the red SUV you can see in the images is the actual Lamborghini Urus SUV from Italy whereas the white one is its Chinese counterpart.

Father charged by police after allowing son drive a Ferrari

Do you remember seeing a video of an Indian boy driving a Ferrari some time ago on this blog? Well, in case you forget, the boy is the child of a man who is, frankly speaking, very well off. Mind you, he possesses a Bentley, Lamborghini, and a Ferrari - which is the problem this time around. The boy in question was only 9-years old when the video of him driving a Ferrari F430 was taken. Amusingly, it was his father, Mohammed Nisham, who recorded the video and even uploaded it to YouTube! Heck, his father must have, somehow, felt proud of his son's actions. Let me tell you, if I were him, there would have been no way I allowed the kid drive a car, let alone a supercar, man! Not only could the kid have run over someone to his/her death, but there were also alot of other potential accidents. For your information, the car has 500bhp under its hood which is, obviously, too much for a child to handle. However, quite miraculously, though, the 9-year old boy managed to avoid hitting anyone or anything. I used the word miraculous as the kid could barely see anything over the dashboard. Nisham let his son cruise in his aforementioned supercar in his residential area, which seems to be inhabited by wealthy people. Honestly, I didn't even realise that it was India in the first place. Nevertheless, it was only a matter of time before the local police department found out about the video and when they did, they decided to charge Nisham. The father of the child was convicted for encouraging underage driving as well as allowing a child without a driving license to manoeuver a car on a public road. Nisham told the police that he did that only to grant his son's birthday wish as the child had pleaded for months for his dad's permission to drive the red car. All the same though, police still considered the action as disturbing as it was irresponsible. I agree with the police in this case, Nisham shouldn't have tried to grant every single wish his child may have, even on his birthday. You're a father, pal, which means you should be wiser instead. It was also figured that the 9-year old kid had also driven Nisham's other cars, such as the Bentley and Lamborghini mentioned earlier. Italdesign Giugiaro - more commonly known as Italdesign - is a design and engineering company based in Italy and since August 9th (National Day) 2010, Lamborghini acquired 90.1 percent of the shares to the firm - which by extension means it belongs to Volkswagen. Volkswagen and Italdesign go a long way and the design firm has been responsible for the design of several notable Volkswagen vehicles including the first generation Volkswagen Golf (1974), Volkswagen Scirocco (1974) and Volkswagen Passat (1973). Quite recently Italdesign revealed the Parcour crossover that is powered by Lamborghini. It was named after the modern sport of - pioneered by the French group Yamakasi. Parkour focuses on moving around urban obstacles with speed and agility - though basically to me they are modern day, very flexible ninjas. Either way, the Parcour car has a coupe and roadster variant which fuses elements of crossovers, sports cars and the sharp styling expected of a modern Lamborghini. In fact, paint it orange, slap a raging bull logo and christen it with the name of a famous bull - and we have a striking Lamborghini CUV. The coupe and roadster have enough room for two and are powered by a 542bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine lifted from the parent company's Gallardo. The engine is mated to a seven-speed double-clutch automatic transmission that drives all four tyres on 22-inch rims. The concepts measure 4,530mm long, sit 2,070mm wide and stand 1,335mm tall and weigh just 1.5 tonnes. Italdesign believes the Parcour could hit 100km/h in a rather brisk 3.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of 320km/h.

Unfazed by the Eurozone debt crisis and the 'Fiscal Cliff' episode in the US, Lamborghini's sales in 2012 improved by 30% as compared to a year ago. In terms of absolute figure, the supercar brand moved 2,083 vehicles last year comprising of 922 units of the Aventador and 1,161 units of the Gallardo. Asia took up the largest portion of the sales pie, accounting for 35% of global sales. The China market itself already account for 15%. This should not come as a surprise as Asia continues to be at the forefront of wealth creation, minting millionaires at a faster pace than any other region in the world. Strong sales is only part of Lamborghini's success story. The company's turnover climbed 46% from EUR 322 million in 2011 to EUR 469 million in 2012. With the global economic climate looking brighter, the bull run looks set to continue in 2013.

The 2013 model year Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster was announced for production in November 2012 and barely three months later, the order books are full until mid-2014. This means a waiting time of more than a year if someone were to place an order now. He can still get his open-top supercar earlier if he is prepared to cough out extra dough. The Aventador Roadster shares the same 6.5-litre V12 engine with the hard top version. This means that roadster develops 700bhp with a tremendous 690Nm of torque, enabling the car to go from 0 to 100km/h in 3 seconds before reaching terminal velocity of 350 km/h. The Aventador Roadster boasts a unique engine cover design and an attachable wind deflector to improve cabin airflow at high speed.
