  1. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/4000-sign-petition-over-singapore-medical-council-ruling What do you guys think of this recent case? If doctors are to run through a series of possible side effects and risks, do you really understand? Right now, you simply has to sign a document before any procedure. Do you really read and say, no I better not go through this or you just have no other alternative. Is there a better way to address this and ensure doctors ensure they discharge their duties in the best interest of their patients.
  2. Heard effective 1st Apr All new VW now comes with 5 year warranty + 100k mileage for new cars I suppose those that still wants to have the warranty intact will have to pay thru the nose for Year 4 and year 5 servicing
  3. I started the thread on 7-seater MPV. After some due considerations, I may go for a normal 5-seater saloon car since my 'kids' are now all adults and may not need to take my car anymore. At today's COE, the cheapest of the lots are around the high $80 to $100K. What would you consider as the best value buy and why? This is to get opinions and there is no right or wrong. At least when COE drops to $20K, those in this segment can 'rush' in and get the ideal car, hopefully.
  4. I know cars are abundant in this range, but what are the cars to consider that are fun and reasonable recurring cost. Someone mention try Opel as it is a unsung hero. Some told me Good and reliable, current fravorite is Honda Vezel as it has better HP then the Agent HRV So what is your current favorite ? Play fair and dun flame each other so that we get mileage from this thread. Lets put aside, my boss has this car and I cannot be buying a better car then him / her thread...
  5. Straits Times Published an article showing that it is possible to save $100k with roughly 6 years of work. The key thing is You have to save at least 50% of your annual pay You got to live within your means and make sacrifices What I felt it misses out are Young adults have many other liabilities that make it practically hard to achieve this Housing, Wedding, Honey Moon, Student Loans Hence the need for sacrifices! How I did it I did a check on my Quicken (see another good reason to do budgeting!) and it showed that I was able to achieve that amount by 30. In fact seems a lot of folks can judging from what you read around. Then again I probably fit the profile of what this experiment did Single Cheap Hobbies Some sacrifices Near 50% saving rate I think I have it much harder since for 3 out of the 6 years my salary was less than the median salary provided. One note is that I only consider the amount that goes into Wealth Building Account as what the article considered. Other saving goals probably out of the equation. Some kids are even more absurd I know many smart young adults nowadays that are sensible enough to do one or more of the following Scholarships (study well!) Start working part time and accumulate Tuition and accumulate NS pay accumulate Start learning about money Some crazy dudes I know with that combination, will have $100k before he starts work at 25 years old. Why does this matter? If you would want to grow wealth By spending less building wealth Leaving more of your salary for escalating expenses You got to let time value of money help you. Here are 2 guys. One guy saves $1k per month from 25 to 35 years old then stops. The other guy starts late and only starts saving from 35 to 65 years old (30 years) At the end of the day, the guy that save for 10 years only uses 120k while the guy that starts late uses 3 times the amount. The difference is the guy starts late only manages to come out 40k ahead. Have a plan when you start working I can understand why folks had a hard time because some things weren’t taught in school but in life (sadly) If you managed to come across this article then hope this helps Its good to have a map that provides you a map how you want to spend your money. If you don’t have you can use the following as a guide. Start Thinking how much to funnel to savings and wealth building http://www.investmentmoats.com/budgeting/saving-100k-by-the-time-you-are-30-years-old/
  6. Hi Bros, my Getz is 8yrs old with 100k mileage. a) Recently, noted that when I step/dab accl, can hear high pitch squel, not loud but still audible. b) Despite changing to new battery, occasionally car sounds "stressed" starting up. But other than that, cant feel any diff. e) slightly higher idling. approx. from 650rpm to now 700-750 rpm. f) I am the only owner since new. g) No mods done other than cosmetic. h) Timing belt changed at 80k mileage & did the SOP major servicing. (also changed engine mount ) I) Used a KNN filter from 17k - 97k mileage. Now using normal air filter. J) Recently changed cooling coil for air con. Any bro here able to advice what could be wrong & the approx. cost to replace those parts? Thanks.

  11. The blue-painted second-floor shophouse unit where the crime took place yesterday morning. Witnesses say the robbers fled in a black car. -- ST PHOTO: DESMOND LIM When three Indian businessmen opened the door of their second-floor shop in Little India yesterday, they were greeted by three men dressed in the blue of the Singapore Police Force. But instead of being protected by these "cops", they were relieved of over $100,000 by the brazen police impersonators. The Straits Times understands that it is very rare here for a crime to be committed by someone masquerading as a policeman. The robbery occurred around 8.15am at 103, Dunlop Street in Little India.
  12. The longest trip I had was to Penang, then Cameron Highlands, then back to SG. Luckily the car didn't give any problems.
  13. Hi bros and sisters, I'm thinking of buying a new car which costs about 100k. Should I pay full or take loan since the interest rates are so low now. I think this is a common situation which sometimes gets difficult to decide. Any views? Many thanks for your ideas. I hope other forum users will find your views helpful when deciding also.
  14. looking at something at max 3 yr old... was hoping for a C200 but that's still a far fetch... so what I have in mind, is actually the Golf GTI. any more recommendation would you recommend?
  15. Hi.., look like already have sometimes ago about this topic. but let discuss again about this with honest, reality and frankly speaking 25 years old or younger afford buy 100k car real or not? my thinking is simple. 1. when you complete degree or master or phd is how old? 2. if you study oversea, can consider "i'm 25 years old or younger and i afford buy 100k car"? then where you get money for oversea study? scholar? 3. if you get good carrier, is that real from your skill, or have relative in that company that help your career. the point is: - if someone buy car 100k, please talk/ tell the truth, something like you have nice car should suit with your personality :) - if someone keep said "ohh look i afford 1k car" but because he/she work in family business, is that real afford? Anyway, it is just a friday afternoon discussion :)

  20. hi everybody,my mileage going to reach 100k for a coming 4 yrs ride..is it a must to overhaul my engine?
  21. Within the 1st two years of my new car it could usually travel ~540-550 km before my last fuel indicator light blinks. However in recent months when its mileage has surpassed 100k km, I find that it typically starts to blink at ~480 km. Servicing has been done every 10k km. Is this drop of 60-70km per 42 litre tank normal? P.S. Unfortunately this drop in FC also happens to coincide with the period I changed my brand of petrol from Caltex to Shell. Wondering which is the culprit here.
  22. Saw the ad on Sat newspaper. SAAB 9-3 selling 99888... Finally drop from their obstinate 128k price tag for a long time to adjust according to current market condition.
