  12. Singapore Airlines A380 plane in emergency landing Oxygen masks were released ahead of the emergency landing An Airbus A380 plane operated by Singapore Airlines was forced to make an emergency landing in Azerbaijan due to loss of cabin pressure. The plane was flying from London to Singapore and had 467 passengers and 27 crew members on board. The airline said that oxygen masks were deployed and the aircraft landed "uneventfully" at the Baku airport. It said that none of the passengers or crew was injured and that it was investigating what caused the problem. Nathan Phelps, an electrical supervisor from south Wales who was on the flight, told the BBC the plane was cruising at around 38,000 feet when it suddenly began to drop. "I literally thought we were all going to die. There was no warning, the plane just went into a deep descent, the masks dropped and you automatically thought we were going to crash. There was no other rational thought really. You couldn't really look at it optimistically because you had never experienced anything like that before." Singapore Airlines said a replacement airplane to take the stranded passengers on to Singapore had now departed and was due to arrive in Baku on 7 January. It said it had also sent staff from both Istanbul and Moscow to provide assistance on the ground in Baku. Complaints However, some customers writing on the airline's Facebook page complained about the wait for a replacement plane. Passenger Terri Mann, said that she had to sleep on a "cold steel bench" with her 17-month old child, and that there were no "food places" at the airport. "We are all a little hesitant about getting on our next legs of our journeys, just hope the worst is over," she wrote. Another passenger Mark Franklin wrote that the handling of the incident was "terrible". No passengers or crew were injured "It's not acceptable to not have even very basic refreshment or information for almost 500 people," he added. In response to the complaints, Singapore Airlines issued a statement on Facebook apologising: "We sincerely apologise to affected customers for the inconvenience caused by the diversion and the lengthy delay encountered at the airport in Baku," it said. However, other people writing on Singapore Airline's Facebook page praised its handling of the incident. Iker Ibáñez wrote: "One can only congratulate the crew for bringing the aircraft down to a safe landing with all passengers and crew on board in one piece." Similarly, Ronald Leung wrote: "Really have to appreciate Singapore Airlines making the immediate announcement rather than say nothing and try to censor the number of people who will know about the incident." In response to passenger reports that the emergency landing was because of a faulty door, a Singapore Airlines spokesman said that "on the earlier flight into London there was a noise reported from one of the main deck doors". But he added that "the door was inspected by engineers on the ground in London with no findings, and the aircraft was cleared for continued operation". Airbus, which manufactures A380s, said in a statement that it was "following up on this issue and providing technical assistance to the airline". Singapore Airlines is one of the biggest operators of the A380 planes, with 19 jets in its fleet. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25618122
  13. Hi guys, just wondering if any of you have this issue and how do you solve it. Over the weekend it was pouring rain heavily, and i drove my whole family out for dinner then realised that my rear left door is leaking. My mum who was sitting behind told me that. So how or what can i do to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.
  14. Bought an aircon filter Denso 88568-52010. No arrow/instruction on the air flow. Do i install the aircon as in the direction shown in the picture below ? Mine is an Altis 2007. Thanks.
  15. Just got my hands on this particle counter for some data collection. After I was done, decided to do a little test on my own. Heared of this HEPA filter before? Well, I tried it with the aircon full blast. See what's the result.
  16. I measured the sound level of my Altis with a sound meter and got the following readings.. idle ~45-50 db cruising at 70km/hr ~ 60-65 db revving to accelerate (to 5k RPM) ~ max at 70 db (on passenger chair) 76db at my feet. is that normal? now looking at sound proofing..saw the e-rev website, show that they can reduce sound to 50++ db (from 80++ db..i assume this is for sports car). no need to spend $$ on quiet tyres that would not last long anyway.... incidental i use my Samsung S2 to measure the sound levels the reading is 5 db higher (idle and max) so not bad for a phone, can use for comparative measurements.
  17. Been trying to get rid a sour smell from AC with no success, have done the following 1) Vacuum interior and clean carpets 2) Change AC cabin filter I want to get rid of the sour smell and not mask it with a strong car fragrance. Found several different brands of aerosol AC sanitizers at Autobacs, do they work? Usage instructions is similar for all brands, leave AC on with fan at full blast and then place aerosol at footwell until entire can is empty. Thanks.
  18. According to a UK survey done at the request of home store B&Q, around 700 harmful bugs lurk in the interior of a car, and specifically on the steering wheel, gear stick and back seats. The study also revealed that 42 percent of motorists regularly eat meals while driving. According to the study, only a third of the people questioned admitted cleaning the inside of their cars once a year, while ten percent said they never wiped down surfaces or vacuumed their cars.

  24. Yesterday, the open air car park where I had parked my car was flooded after a heavy downpour. I can tell this from the whole bunch of leaves and twigs stuck inside my bodykit front lip, even though the floodwater have already receded by the time I went back to my car. My car is not lowered. To my dismay, I found my entire floorboard soaked, though it's just limited to the floorboard. My boot which is just a little higher is dry. Engine so far still ok. I put tons of newspaper on the floorboard, opened the windows a little and left it to dry overnight. This morning I had to change my newspaper again as it was totally soaked. I actually smsed Maddriver who kindly advised me to sun it, which I'm trying to do now as the sun had just come out in the afternoon. But I can't do it for long as I need to use the car today to run errands. Apart from the fact that high chance the floorboard will get mold and start to smell, I'm also worried if places will start to get corroded. Can anyone recommend a workshop to get things checked out and better still, take out the floorboard covering to get it sanitized? I've searched through quite a few car forums but couldn't find any workshop recommendation Thanks in advance.
