  3. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/married-father-7-claims-fired-143000171.html A former Google executive says he has been fired after he rejected advances from a senior female member of staff, the male executive claims in a lawsuit. Ryan Olohan said he was groped by Tiffany Miller at an upmarket Manhattan restaurant in December 2019, alleging that she told him she knew he liked Asian women, which she is, and that her marriage lacked “spice.” Miller, who is the director of Google’s programmatic media, allegedly complemented Olohan’s physique and touched his torso while they were at Fig & Olive during a company get-together, per a report by the New York Post. Olohan, a married father of seven, claims he was promoted to managing director of food, beverages, and restaurants and joined a team that included Miller. The former exec said he was wary of bringing up the incident to his colleagues at first because several of them were drunk at the time—and when he did, they dismissed Miller’s advances as “Tiffany being Tiffany,” according to the lawsuit, filed on Nov. 30. Olohan, 48, then took his concerns to human resources, which did not take any action. The lawsuit stated that a representative from the department “openly admitted…that if the complaint was ‘in reverse’—a female accusing a white male of harassment—the complaint would certainly be escalated.” Instead, Olohan claims, Miller retaliated following his complaint and reported him to HR for unspecified “microaggressions.” A representative for Miller denied denied his allegations in a statement to Fortune. “This lawsuit is a fictional account of events filled with numerous falsehoods, fabricated by a disgruntled ex-employee, who was senior to Ms. Miller at Google. Ms. Miller never made any 'advance' toward Mr. Olohan, which witnesses can readily corroborate. Even more disturbing is the overt sexism and racism in Mr. Olohan‘s efforts to blame others for his termination.” Repeated harassment Two years after the first incident, Miller allegedly reprimanded Olohan while drunk at a Google event in December 2021—a situation that escalated to the extent that colleagues recommended she sit at the other end of the table. Miller did apologize, the lawsuit states, but “although Google was aware that Miller’s continued harassment of Olohan stemmed from his rejection of her sexual advances, it again took no action.” A further incident occurred in April 2022 during a company social event at a karaoke bar, when Miller once again verbally attacked Olohan while drunk, mocking him and reiterating that she knew he had a preference for Asian women with the prior knowledge that his wife is Asian. Olohan said he felt increasingly under pressure; his supervisor told him there were “obviously too many white guys” on his management team and in July he was allegedly encouraged to fire a male employee so he could be replaced by a woman. Olohan was then fired by Google in August, after he’d spent 16 years at the company, for not being “inclusive.” He claims that Google’s Employee Investigations Team said he’d expressed favoritism toward high-performing employees, and that he was “ableist” because he’d made comments on colleagues’ “walking pace.” The lawsuit accuses both Google and Miller of discrimination, retaliation, and fostering a hostile work environment.

  8. https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/australianz/father-and-son-in-australia-drown-saving-tourist-near-popular-spot-the-twelve Father and son in Australia drown saving tourist near popular spot Twelve Apostles MELBOURNE (AFP) - A father and son life-saving team drowned while trying to save a tourist swept out to sea near one of Australia's most famous sights off the south coast, officials said on Monday (April 22). Mr Ross Powell, 71, and his son Andrew, 32, died on Sunday after their life-saving boat overturned in the surf during the rescue of a 30-year-old man near the Twelve Apostles, a series of massive limestone stacks situated off the Victoria state coast. The tourist, whose nationality and name have not been released, had been wading at the mouth of a river when he got into trouble. He was winched from the water alongside a third lifesaver from the boat, who was seriously injured, by a rescue helicopter and taken to hospital, Victoria Police said. The bodies of the Powells were found in the water shortly after. The tragedy has rocked the small tourist town of Port Campbell where the two men came from, with Prime Minister Scott Morrison leading the tributes. "Surf lifesavers are selfless & brave. We thank them all for their service & extend our deepest sympathies to Ross & Andrew's family & friends," Mr Morrison tweeted on Monday. Surf Lifesaving Victoria president Paul James hailed the pair as heroes, and said the conditions had been rough and "not the place to be swimming". "It's just terrible, it's heartbreaking," he told reporters in an emotional press conference of the death of the dairy farmers and experienced volunteer lifesavers. "I understand the boat was operating in a 2m swell, so a very high swell, and we know that it is very treacherous down there... These brave people, these heroes, have gone out to try and help." Ms Amber Griffiths, the partner of Andrew and who local media reported was pregnant with their second child, wrote about her heartbreak on Facebook. "Today we lost two of the most beautiful people to ever exist - always putting others first," she wrote. "The love of my life, light of my life, father of my baby girl. My heart is broken. I miss you Andrew Powell."

  10. Seremban Boy Keeps Losing in Video Game So His Dad Broke His Competitor’s Spine On January 11, a misunderstanding over a video game ended with a teenage gamer being hospitalised with broken bones. The incident happened at around 10pm at an electronic game store in Palm Mall, Seremban. Sin Chew Daily reported that the teenage victim had been playing a competitive video game against another boy. After beating the boy several times, the boy’s father approached the victim and offered him RM2 to intentionally lose and let the boy win. However, the bribe didn’t work and the teenager soon seized another victory, beating the boy once more. The father was angered and became violent, throwing a chair at the victim. He kicked the teenager several times, rallying up around four other men to come and assist the assault. A video of the event posted on Twitter showed them surrounding the visibly terrified teenager, yelling at him as passersby watched helplessly. At one point in time, a man even kicked the teenager in the head as he cowered on the floor. The assault was brutal, and the boy ended up being hospitalised as he suffered severe injuries. With bruises across his body, punctured lungs, broken ribs, and a shattered spine, the victim is currently in the ICU of Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital. Source: Sin Chew Daily Four suspects have since been arrested, as reported by The Sun. All four suspects have been in remand until today (15 Jan), said Seremban district police chief Asst Comm Thiew Hock Poh. Their case is currently being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting. Source: Sin Chew Daily The police are currently searching for the whereabouts of a witness, S. Munisvaran, 37, to assist in the investigation. They have advised members of the public with information on the witness and the incident to call the investigating officer, Mohammad Najeeb Mohammed Shukri at 06-6033284. What a terrible tragedy! And over such a minor issue. Violence is never the answer and we wish the victim a complete recovery.
  11. Jail for father who beat 9-year-old son with hanger over homework SINGAPORE: A 35-year-old man who subjected his nine-year-old son to a beating over homework was sentenced to four months' jail on Thursday (Dec 6). The man, who cannot be named due to a gag order protecting the boy's identity, pleaded guilty in June to one charge of ill-treating a child in his custody. The incident occurred at about 9pm on Aug 4 last year, when the man's 34-year-old wife left the house for dinner with her friends. She left her son in her husband's care, and the young child was seated at the dining table doing his homework while the accused was watching television. More than an hour later, the boy asked his father for help with his homework. The man told him to think of the answers on his own, and the boy gave several answers which were wrong. "The accused was angered by the victim's mistakes," said the prosecutor. He left the dining room, returning with a plastic hanger while his son begged him for leniency. He grabbed the boy's hand and yanked him forcefully from the chair, causing him to tumble onto the floor. He then pulled him up by his left leg, so that the boy was held upside down, and hit him on his buttocks and legs with the hanger, swinging it down "with his full strength", court documents said. The man then shouted at his son, who was lying on the ground in a daze. The boy told his father that he really did not know the answers to his homework questions, enraging him further. The accused kicked his son twice, shouting at him: "You know why you don't know, you're stupid!" He then threw the hanger at the boy and kicked him again before chasing him into the bedroom, where he hit the boy's buttocks with his hands. The assault on the boy was captured by a closed-circuit television camera mounted on a ledge in the dining room and was played to the court. A neighbour called the police at 10.43pm, saying that he heard a child crying out and he thought it was child abuse. When the boy's mother returned home, the child told her what happened and she retrieved the CCTV footage. The boy was admitted to hospital, where a medical report showed that he suffered multiple hematomas or bruises on his body, including hook-shaped ones measuring 3cm and 6cm. The couple is currently undergoing divorce proceedings. DEFENCE ASKS FOR PROBATION, SAYING RELATIONSHIP HAS IMPROVED Deputy Public Prosecutor Jotham Tay asked for four months' jail, saying that the facts were alarming. "It is clear that it was not done simply in a controlled manner for the purpose of discipline, but out of rage," he said. The man's defence lawyer, T U Naidu, asked instead for probation, saying that the relationship between the accused and the victim has "greatly improved". The accused has been attending counselling, he added, and the entire family is now close enough to assure the court that there will not be any chance of reoccurrence. "It is admitted that he lost his cool," said the lawyer. "My client is greatly remorseful. Any form of custodial sentence is going to affect what has been built up thus far between the (accused) and the son." Addressing the accused, who stood in the dock with his head bowed throughout the hearing, District Judge Eddy Tham said there was no excuse for the "totally disproportionate" actions, no matter how frustrated the accused had been with his son. He added that while he noted the improvement in the relationship, a message must be sent out on such violence by parents and caregivers, and said it was fortunate that the resulting injuries had not been more serious.

  15. Japan dad apologises for abandoning son, thanks rescuers Photo: Reuters Tokyo - The father of a seven-year-old Japanese boy who went missing for nearly a week after his parents abandoned him in a mountain forest as punishment apologised on Friday hours after his son was found safe. "My excessive act forced my son to have a painful time," Yamato Tanooka's father told reporters outside the hospital where his son was being treated Yamato was discovered in a building on a Japanese military base around 4 km (2.5 miles) from where he disappeared last Saturday after his parents left him by the side of a road, reportedly as discipline for throwing stones at cars. "One of our soldiers was preparing for drills this morning and opened the door of a building on the base, and there he was," a member of Japan's Self-Defence Forces told NHK national television. "When he asked 'are you Yamato?' the boy said yes. Then he said he was hungry, so the soldier gave him some water, bread and riceballs." Yamato was taken to hospital for checks but was healthy except for low body temperature and would be kept overnight as a precaution, a doctor told a news conference. A tearful Takayuki Tanooka, the boy's father, thanked rescuers for their efforts and apologised for causing trouble. "We've reflected on what we did and it was really excessive," Tanooka said, his voice shaking. "We - well, we loved him before, but I hope to give him even more attention now," he said. "I deeply apologise to people at his school, people in the rescue operation, and everybody for causing them trouble," he added. Yamato's parents first said he disappeared while they foraged for edible plants, but later told police they had left him by the road to discipline him after he threw stones at people and cars. They said when they drove back a few minutes later the boy had disappeared. The area is so remote that residents of the region say they rarely go through it. The boy somehow managed to survive for nearly a week in the densely forested area, where night temperatures fell as low as 7 degrees Celsius (45 Fahrenheit) and heavy rain had fallen, despite wearing only a t-shirt and jeans. Yamato said he had "walked through the mountains" until he found the building, which was unlocked. He drank water from a nearby faucet and slept on mattresses spread on the floor. The search for Yamato gripped Japan. At its peak, it involved several hundred shouting rescuers beating through heavy bush, as well as soldiers on motorbikes and police on horseback. News programmes gave regular updates throughout the week, and NHK sent a news flash when he was found. The incident set off a flood of social media comment, with most of those posting comments lambasting the parents for their carelessness. On Friday, most expressed relief. "To be honest, I was certain of a sad result. As the parent of a 7-year-old myself, all I can say is that I am really, really happy," one wrote. http://news.asiaone.com/news/asia/japan-dad-apologises-abandoning-son-thanks-rescuers
  16. Got hope liao S. African man with transplanted penis to become a father https://sg.news.yahoo.com/african-man-penis-transplant-become-father-093320025.html A South African man who received the world's first successful penis transplant is to become a father just months after undergoing surgery, his doctor said Friday. Urologist Andre van der Merwe, who led the team that performed the operation, told AFP that the 21-year-old's girlfriend was pregnant. "He said that she is about four months pregnant. They are very happy with it and we also very happy," said Van der Merwe, who is based at Stellenbosch University. "We are happy that there were no complications and his penis is functioning well," he said. There was nothing preventing the patient from having children because his testicles, where sperm is produced, were not affected. Van der Merwe has previously admitted surprise at the speed of the man's recovery of sexual function however, saying the original goal was that "he would be fully functional at two years". The man, whose identity has not been revealed, received his new penis from an organ donor in a nine-hour operation on December 11 at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. His own penis had to be amputated three years earlier after a botched traditional circumcision. The procedure, which often leads to disastrous infections and complications, is performed on boys and young men as a rite of passage to adulthood in some rural parts of South Africa. "These young men don't have a penis so they have to sit to urinate, so the first objective is to make them be able to stand to urinate, like other men do," Van der Merwe told AFP. "Secondly the objective is for them to have normal sexual intercourse if and when they want, so the second objective was met," he added. "He's got a normal sensual penis. His sensation has recovered 100 percent at this stage, and he has got normal erections and he is sexually active. "We can say that the third objective -- to conceive a baby, or for him to be able to conceive with his partner -- has (also) been met." Van der Merwe said he had not examined the man's partner but had no reason to disbelieve that he had impregnated her as he was a "stable young man" and had been in a relationship with the woman for a number of years. He said his team had been inundated with requests from men who have had similar amputations but could not take everyone. "Right now we have about nine people on our programme," he said, pointing out that finding penis donors would be one of the challenges, as with any other organ. "I don't think it would be easy but I believe people will now come forward because of this positive case," he said
  17. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/woman-gives-birth-new-baby-5665572 A new mum has given birth to twins who have two different fathers. The incredible case was revealed after the woman, identified only as T.M., named her current boyfriend as the father of her twins. But T.M. admitted before maternity papers were signed that she had actually slept with a different man a week after she believed she conceived with her boyfriend. A paternity test was carried out and it was revealed that the two men had each fathered one of the twins, who are now toddlers. It seems medically impossible, but a woman can give birth to twins with two fathers when she has sex with two different men in the same week. In a process known as heteropaternal superfecundation, the rare incident occurs when a woman releases two eggs during her menstrual cycle and different men fertilise one egg each. It is a more common occurrence when the same dad fertilises two eggs during separate incidences of sex.

(WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Daytona Beach police say a father beat up an 18-year-old man after he said he witnessed the teenager sexually abusing his son. According to a police report, Raymond Frolander is a family acquaintance who solicited the boy to engage in sexual activity at the boy's home around 1:30 a.m. on Friday. Authorities said the father walked in on the alleged abuse and then beat Frolander, leaving him bleeding and motionless on the floor. He then called 911 to report the incident. "I just walked in and found a grown man molesting my [name withheld], and I got him in a bloody puddle right now for you officer." The 35-year-old father said he had just left the house for a short while, and when he returned, he said he thought he heard something in the back bedroom. "I looked at Ray and said, 'What's going on?' He stood up, and his pants fell around his ankles," the father told the 911 dispatcher. "I knew what was going on, and I did what I had a right to do, except I didn't kill him." When officers arrived, they found Frolander unconscious on the floor. He was taken to Halifax Medical Center and later transported to the jail before appearing before a judge later in the day. According to the police report, the young victim disclosed there was a history of past sexual abuse involving the defendant, beginning when the victim was 8. Police said that during an interview, Frolander admitted he has had a sexual relationship with the victim over the past three years. "Here's a young man whose innocence was taken away from him," said Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood. "Eight to 11-year-olds should be outside playing sports and video games, not cowering in fear. Chitwood said the father will not face any charges for the beating, because he was protecting his son as a crime was being committed. Frolander is charged with sexual battery on a child under 12 and has been denied bond by a Volusia County judge.
