  1. Has Anyone changed his alternator before? How much does it cost? I check price from MingGhee on Honda alternator is approx. $900 includes GST. Has anyone DIY changing the alternator? My ride is 7yrs old and alternator just failed.
  2. The number 1 rule before reversing your car is to always check clear your rear and blindspots before proceeding. Lazy to do so? Then get yourself a rear reverse camera, or you will be like this guy: IMG_7646.MP4 What Happened? I am sure we have all been stuck at the gantry for some reasons (Eg. Insufficient funds in cashcard, problem detecting your car's IU). And that was what happened to this particular Honda Civic driver - he got stuck at the carpark gantry. After what seemed like an eternity and having no luck in exiting from the gantry, the Honda driver decided to reverse out of the carpark gantry. However, this was where this 'Bodoh Kambing' screws up by not checking his rear and began reversing. The motorcyclist attempted to 'siam' the Honda by back-paddling but to no avail. Eventually, the Honda Civic hits the motorcycle. NGL, this is easily one of the most ridiculous accidents that could occur. Netizens' Comments Unpopular Opinion: Anyone can obtain their driver's license, but not everyone (with a driver's license) should be driving on the road. 👏 Whether the motorcyclist is in the yellow box or not, the Honda driver should have simply turned his head to check clear - nuff said. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. Quick background; Have 4 kids - 3rd & 4th were twins so have a largish twin pram. Drive an Audi Q7 and the boot door needs a big space for it to swing open upwards. And also cos of the pram, I tend to park with nose in (at least when I can and definitely at home where I have more control). This way there's space to open the boot and load that big ass pram. Stay in a condo where there's plenty of available parking. Most people have two cars and still there's no complaints on number of spaces available. So choices aplenty for everyone. I'm attaching a rough layout of the parking under my block. I've marked out where I park the car 99% of the time (sometimes someone gets there before me in which case, I just find another spot). As mentioned above, I park nose 1st and within the lines marked out. So this morning, I found a note stuck to my windscreen. Note say that I should have the "courtesy" to move forward when parking if I should come early to give the guy coming behind a chance to park I'm sorry, what the heck does he mean by having a courtesy to move forward. I get that he wants me to move to the bay in front of me so that way, he won't have to go around the lift bay and park his car. But how the heck does he know what my requirements are or why I do what I do? If he had the decency to leave his number, I would have explained. But this anonymous bulls**t note saying I'm not courteous cos I'm inconveniencing him by going around the lift block is uncalled for. Or am I wrong?

  6. After seeing the change of government in Malaysia after 60 years, obviously many people have talked about could it happen in Singapore? And the way some of the younger leaders talk and handle issues leave me feeling disappointed with the situation. Josephine Teo comes across very arrogant, Ng chee meng too. Now Ong ye kung says teachers must have self discipline and pay parking... Singapore is being run as a business, with annual price increases to maximise profits everywhere. And i disagree with it Anyway this topic is not to bash the government, there are enough threads on this. What i hope to see is your views on what will happen if there was a change in government in the next 1-2 elections. How will it affect Singapore. Will we fail as a country? Will our women become maids in other countries as LKY once claimed? Give your analysis of what you think will happen if the PAP is no longer the government. Ideally put the worse case scenario of how bad things will be. Can we survive it? Or do you think that it won't mean the end of Singapore as the PAP likes to claim
  7. Called up a battery rescue number from mycarform in September 2017. To change a battery in Suntec when my honda headlights forgot to off. The new battery brand was DRIVE. At that time the guy came in a conti OPEL van with his GF, to help me change the battery. I think I paid $160. Yes I know it's market rate for AMERON, not some lousy DRIVE brand battery. I did told that guy I want AMERON, but he said this is a GERMANY branded battery, just as good as AMERON. Fast forward to last week. Can't start my car. I know this time it was not due to headlights drain out the battery, because I did check the day before I left the car locked. So I thought I can jump start with another car battery. Hooked up the red/black cables to a fully charged battery. Still cannot start. In the end swopped out the DRIVE battery with a second hand AMERON battery. And the Honda car starts perfectly. One week later, still ok. I have a pulse charger(Ctek) to charge the DRIVE battery at home. For the past week, the charger is tick-tok-tick-tok trying to charge the battery. Even tilting the battery is all possible position it is still not able to charge. I don't know how a car battery can suddenly FAILED. Be careful with this DRIVE brand of lousy battery. I now only trust big brand battery. The second hand AMERON battery is already four years old, and is still strong and workable in my Honda.

  13. Yesterday, was behind this Hyundai Santa Fe along CTE (North) around 3:30pm. Traffic a bit jam as people are leaving work and some more no ERP. After a while, noticed that the car's brake lights are ALL TOTALLY NOT WORKING. I was quite annoyed, I mean, one or even 2 brake lights not working still ok but all three. Really feel that the fella is an inconsiderate driver. THANKFULLY, after a while, the fella changed lane and went on his "jolly" way. Must say he is also an excellent lane changer. Sorry, no pics or vids, a bit chui gong lan pa song, I know, but there is how I can see it. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!
  14. How do government bodies send out messages in 4 languages. is there an 'expert' in each language handling the translation? Anyway, anyone got more news on this? What was the translated version like. http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/more-singapore-stories/story/vivan-balakrishnan-asks-nea-rectify-badly-translated-tam Vivan Balakrishnan asks NEA to rectify badly translated Tamil flyers 'as soon as possible' SINGAPORE - Dr Vivian Balakrishnan has said that he has asked the National Environment Agency to rectify badly translated Tamil flyers "as soon as possible". The Minister for the Environment and Water Resources was replying to undergraduate J.S. Sasikumar's email regarding the flyer, which came attached with a photograph. The student, who stated that he is a member of the Tamil Language Society at the National University of Singapore, said in an email: "The Tamil text makes no sense whatsoever. It is as if the English text was put through an online translator to generate the Tamil translation." In response, Dr Balakrishnan thanked the student for highlighting the issue and added: "I totally agree with you on the need for accurate translations."
  15. Wah. If I pass means I'm outstanding sibo? http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/7-10-nsmen-their-30s-fail-annual-ippt-training-expert 7 in 10 NSmen in their 30s fail annual IPPT: Training expert Operationally Ready National Servicemen taking the Individual Physical Proficiency Test. Photo: MINDEF By Leong Wai Kit Published: 8:50 PM, July 21, 2014 SINGAPORE — Seven in 10 National Servicemen in their 30s fail their annual Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT), and this failure rate rises as the NSmen age. This is based on the experience of a former head of physical training in the army, Mr Edwin Ong, who spoke to Channel NewsAsia following the news that the IPPT will be made simpler. It is unclear what changes will be announced, and when they will be announced. Currently, said Mr Ong, IPPT problem areas for NSmen are chin-ups, the standing broad jump, and the 2.4km stations. There are specific reasons the current IPPT stations are part of a serviceman’s training regime. The 2.4km run, for example, tests one’s cardiovascular fitness, said Mr Ong. “It tests how fit you are in terms of stamina, because your heart really needs to cope with the stress — and so it is a very good gauge of your overall fitness level.” This station is reportedly a problem for around seven in 10 servicemen. The shuttle run is a station where the aim is to sprint a total of 40m in two loops, bending and touching the ground (or picking up a block) at each turning point. “The reason is we’re simulating a fire movement,” said Mr Ong, ex-Head of Physical Training, School of Physical Training. “So when you get into a position of cover, you need to really place one hand in front and get yourself down, and prone yourself down to get yourself in a firing position.” Sit-ups, meanwhile, focus on another aspect. “It is important for NSmen because when we put on our uniform and our SBO (Skeletal Battle Order) or now the load-bearing vest, this will help us keep everything in hold,” said Mr Ong. As for chin-ups, National Serviceman Mohd Azfar feels they are still relevant because “when you have to do FIBUA (fighting in built-up areas) exercises, you will have to scale walls, which requires upper body strength. So I feel there’s no need to tweak this station, as it is very relevant”. One of the toughest stations is the standing broad jump station — fitness experts say about six in 10 NSmen have problems passing this station. “There are a lot of people who can’t really jump,” said Mr Ong. “One is that they do not have the strength and the power, and the second issue is their jumping technique.” Indeed, while it takes only about an hour to go through all the current stations, it takes about six weeks to get ready for the IPPT as it stands now. 16. Today, went to for a regular maintenance. Mechanic engineer told me that my Radiator A/C motor doesn't work, while the Radiator Fan motor is still working. He suggest me to change both because he foresee the other one may fail soon as well. Any suggestion here? For brake pad and brake disk rotor, Is it recommended to change at the same time? I changed the pad, but not the rotor today.
  17. It's a commonly known fact that London often becomes the destination of choice for millionaires all over the world, especially during summer time. It seems that the millionaires just love the ambient summer temperature in the city. Well, that's besides the fact that most of them seem to love showing off their expensive collection of cars. This seems even more true for millionaires coming from countries with a climate hotter than that in London, just like this fellow millionaire from Dubai. Just like any other person in London, this fellow seemed to be enjoying his time in the capital city of England. However, it was only so true until he tried to get his Ferrari F12 Berlinetta out of a parking lot. Unfortunately for him, he bumped the right rear quarter of his quarter-of-a-million pound vehicle into the wall. But perhaps he didn't think of it as unfortunate, heck, he probably didn't even care - he's a millionaire after all. The Italian prancing horse didn't seem to be visibly damaged in the video (below), though. Watching the video till the end, the guy finally seemed to care about the scratch he might have caused on his car. Near a red light, he decided to get out to check the right rear quarter, the part he bumped into the wall. Honestly, I can say he seemed pissed afterwards. Well, I wonder what was actually on this guy's mind. Not enough with bumping his car - which some of us (including me) may never be able to buy, he went further to run a red light. Did he think he could do just as he wished whenever he got pissed? Alas, he got trapped in the yellow box marked around the junction as a result. Well, watching the video makes me wonder that it may not be suitable to drive a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta around the twisty narrow London streets. The car seems to better suit the rolling landscape and twisting hills in the country where it comes from. For those who still don't know, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta carries a 6.3-litre V12 engine under its hood. It can produce a total output of 730bhp. That said, this particular model is also one of the most powerful monsters the Maranello-based automaker currently has in store.

  22. While roads here are getting more crowded, that has not deterred some motorists from pulling away from others and breaking the speed limits. The total number of motor vehicles here grew from about 850,000 in 2007 to roughly 950,000 last year, according to figures released by the Land Transport Authority. This amounted to an increase of 11.7 per cent over that period. But the number of speeding violations detected by the Traffic Police over the same period shot up 40.6 per cent, from nearly 160,000 in 2007 to more than 225,000 last year. However, first-quarter figures for last year and this year show that speeding offences have dipped. Source: http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_800639.html
  23. The Straits Times The Straits Times Published on Apr 28, 2012 Printed from straitstimes.com Wages must rise faster with higher living costs: Minister Slow down income gap growth: Swee Say By Janice Heng The higher cost of living means that wages must go up faster, said labour chief Lim Swee Say on Friday. The widening of the income gap must also be slowed down, added the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) secretary-general in a message ahead of the labour movement's celebrations on May Day on Tuesday. Inflation hit a high of 5.2 per cent last month, after staying at more than 4 per cent in the first two months of the year. In his message, Mr Lim also set out the challenges - old and new - which Singapore faces. Copyright

I think everyone should get their sensors checked once in a while to ensure its working properly. Imagine you step on accelerator, nothing happens and all of a sudden the car just launches forward (going out of control). It can be dangerous.
