Cyclist barely avoids collision with taxi after cutting across the lane!

We all know cyclists should cycle on either the PCN or on the roads. But being on the road can be dangerous for cyclists who don't know how to look out for themselves as we can see in the video posted by SG Road Vigilante on the 28th of October. Shot in the morning by a camera car on Clemenceau Ave, the cyclist could be seen changing lanes to the right without checking for traffic coming up from the right. Unfortunately, a Comfort taxi did really come up on the right at a good speed and just barely managed to avoid knocking him down. That said, the taxi's wing mirror did knock the cyclist off balance, causing him to fall. Do you think cyclists who wish to cycle on the road ought to undergo the Basic Theory Test at a minimum? Hi, Asking on behalf for my friend. Lane go straight n turn left. Car signal left far ahead, turning left, motor go straight and rear ended car on back left of the car. Car owner can claim motor owner insurance?

Hi guys, how much does it cost to repair the above? Car model, 2009 Hyundai Avante.. would 1.5k suffice? Or too much? If worse comes to worse, change door how much? Light dent but deep scratch in the paint work, so i guess need to respray the whole door?

Hi all, Anyone encountering this fault on a Toyota? My Toyota Fielder is occasionally giving this fault code especially when I do high speed driving on the expressway - especially so I noticed when I'm on the NS highway. When I'm back, it's very rarely giving this fault code. The CEL goes on for a while and then goes off. But when I use an ODBII reader, I can still read the stored fault code. So, my question is : should I change the Knock Sensor? I think this is the only serviceable part. I asked my workshop and he says he has not changed this before?

While waiting for my chance to enter the main road, I m being knocked from behind by a taxi in the morning. Things to note: At the time of accident, I thought there isn't anything about it. So I only got him phone number when I left. After parking the car, I called him back and he answered and cooperated by giving me his details so I can start a claim if you want. He pleaded to settle outside and even ask me to go back authorized work shop to get a quote rather than go to some car repair shop in ubi to get it one. By noon, he even chased me to get a quote so that he can settle ASAP. Car condition: Unnoticeable damage. Unless you are 15cm away under strong light, else you cannot see the dent. Slight paint chip. What will you do? 1) claim insurance. Change bumper + rent car for 3 days while it is in workshop 2) accept a $1000 compensation and u settle urself. Even if u decide to do nothing, he will still pay. 3) let him go n forget about it. Here is a person trying to repent, should I give him a chance by going option 2or 3. By going option 1, the claims will be at 8-10k. I am sure he will kena demerit point and affect his taxi career.

This morning a scooter knock on a White Fit/Jazz side mirror. But im the guilty party. I was trying to go in between the stopping Fit & a Estima when suddenly the Estima move again. This caused me unable to stop in time and knock on the white Fit/Jazz side mirror. Hereby would like to apologize and will take responsibility of your damage if there is any. hi, i had a small knock to a taxi rear yesterday at CTE, the taxi did not stop to exchange particulars. after reaching home, i noticed only my number plate is slightly cracked. can i assume there isnt any significant damage to the taxi as well? will the taxi file claims against me? the taxi driver was fetching passengers at that time, n the driver was apparently asking the passenger to take photos. i donno how all these works... thanks for any help....

Want to see fellow MCFers advise. This morning was at a junction going straight, car stopped. The car behind me (Grey coloured Golf) wanna squeeze out of his lane to turn right. Some car horn him, so he half car out of lane while waiting for traffic to clear. Then when he finally turned, "bang".. his side mirror hit my side. Although only some minor scratches, but he just speed off. What should i do? just let it be? i got his car plate.

Hi guys, anyone encountered this problem before? My car is producing some knocking and creaking sound from the car. I realised when the car is stationary and i turn the steering wheel from center to either left or right, midway towards full-lock there will be a couple of knock sounds, and disappears while continuing to full-lock. The same thing happens when going from full-lock to center position. This knocking sound comes again while turning at low speeds especially in car parks with all the humps and irregular surfaces. Any idea what is causing this problem?

Ever happened you fetch your family members of colleagues and when they open doors, they just clipped the adjacent vehicle? What would you do? Happened to me at least 4 times already over the year or so, thinking about it makes me feel apologetic, sian and pissed at the same time, although its not my fault. When I park, I always check if my parking is balanced between the 2 adjacent lots and asked passengers if the gap is OK for them. If I can help it I will help to shield the other car by placing my fingers at the door edge so that my fingers act as the cushion (especially where my young kid sits). But I can be only at one door at a time. Sometimes I see people open car doors very scary. Sometimes I just near my car also witness other people open door bang my car and just walked off as if nothing happen. I understand that in Singapore, parking lots are small so it is pretty inevitable that such incidents happen, but its the nonchalant attitude of the people. Why have us become like that, first world aspiration but still stuck with third world attitude, declining civic-mindedness.

I am damn pissed with that driver when I flash back that scenario! NNBZ KNN PCB!!! While walking slowly from Yew Tee to CCK at the flyover, we were behind the Condo, green man was shown and we proceeded slowly to cross the road. Just when we crossed halfway, suddenly a car (black Mit Lancer of SGK car plate) just dashed through from it's right turning! This had caused the vehicles going straight almost crash onto it! Ain't the vehicle suppose to STOP and wait for the green light shown before making the turn? Had I not saw the oncoming car from the left, I guessed that both my wife and I will land in hospital! Luckily I held onto my wife arm and dragged her back as soon as possible! You a--hole better LEARN how to drive properly and please do not freaking endanger ppl life! Must you be freaking impatient for that 10min? I dare not to imagine if I were to bring my baby out with the stroller! To make it clear, I enclose the image for better clearer explanation. Red dot: Wifey and I crossing the junction. Cyan: The black Mit Lancer just dashed when the traffic light turn green! Shouldn't the car wait first? Why must it dash out in such a hurry?! We were so close to the car! Yellow: Other vehicles got to jam brake and horn because of the horrible driver! 1 thing to note: we are happy to alive and carry on our shopping! And we kept holding our hand tightly after that incident. Screw that driver who is SO reckless! Tai Sai ah? CB! I seldom curse and swear at ppl until like that, but this time, lim peh freaking bey lun such driver! I am glad that I still can post this message out to you all! OK, Enough of cursing!

Hi All, I need good advices on what i should do to bring down such errant taxi drivers. Driver of SILVERCAB SHC60XXT attempted to knock me down along the pedestrian crossing at Bideford Road. Crossing from Swenson's Orchard towards Paragon. Here's the story: It was a crowded night, combination of pedestrians and cars. One thing about that junction at bideford road, there is no yellow box at the intersection (the place where u cross from Swenson's Orchard towards Taka.) And now they even have those diagonal crossing for pedestrian and as such, the LT EHH feels that a yellow box is not crucial. So many drivers tend to jam up the road in the centre evenwhen the pedestrians are already crossing at Bideford road, they beat the red light and we pedestrians are unable to cross. I was there around 10+ PM on 29/12/07, green man, so my gf, sister n me crossed the road. One WRX zoomed past the pedestrian almost knocked a boy down. Then come a couple other cars horning and expect pedestrian to give way even when its green man. The cars on the main road that leads towards centrepoint are already horning cos these few idiots are blocking the road and that leads them to drive through the pedestrian crossing. We were already in the middle of the crossing, then the red man light went on. One taxi, instead of understanding and having the courtesy rev his engine and move towards my knees. It was so close till i had to balance myself by slamming my hand on his bonnet. Once i gain momentum, the farker still rev his engine n got the intention to knock me down again by moving a little forward. I was so furious, i moved to the side of the taxi - i fark THAT IDIOT like a mad gorilla shouting vulgarities in front of everyone else for a good 30secs(I was so going crazy, u would the same thing if it happened to u as its that bad!). That IDIOT still got the cheek to point me middle finger before driving away. i so wanted to kick his car door and drag him out. But something tells me that would make matters worst. Well anyway, to cut the story short, i called SILVERCAB hotline to report the incident. They dont have GPS and so they could only get back to me in 2 days. They bringing up the matter to HQ. What should i do next? Report to POLICE (go police post - but report as what? Recklessness?_ or call TP hotline (Do they have a hotline no. for recklessness?) Appreciate your help. Hi need some help here. My friend knock into a cab's bumper. But is just a slight knock. And both cars has no physical damage or anything. But the cab driver insist on getting my friend's particulars. So they exchanged and my friend took the picture of both cars showing there is no damage. The cab driver said his company will check the car thoroughly to see if there is any damage and stuff. So now should my friend call the cab company to inform them of this incident first before he cook up some story? Or inform the insurance company and affect her NCD? Thanks alot for the help!

A man approached me after I did a 3 point turn at the open car park, I thought he was trying to indicate to tell me that he is leaving and I can take his place> I told him after winding down the windscreen that I picking up my wife so thank him. This post is to the driver who knock the back of my car on the 02/01/2008 at around 7 - 7.45pm at the parallel parking at back entrance of Beauty World Centre , i curse that your whole family will die in a tragic accident on the first day of lunar new year and that your parents will not live till 15th of this new year . If u are the driver reading this post and not happy that i curse u PM me and i will PM u my HP number , even if ur family live through this lunar new year i CURSE that they will suffer GREAT pain in their future family life . Driving up my multi storey carpark as usual, will pass by my loves, upon seeing them, there is this sinking feeling something is just not right, one of them seems out of her parking lot, it's being knock down and brought up again, my beloved Yamaha. My car is scratched, i am ok, my car have dinks on the side...i am ok, but when my bike is being knocked down......THAT DRIVE ME CRAZY! Luckily this neighbour from the same level heard 2 loud bangs, stick her head out the window and saw the car leaving and she took the plate down. So.....I went to make a police report, idac accident report, paid $5.35 LTA and get a print out of the car's insurance company's name, sent my bike to Yamaha, and guess what, after a week, the driver got my number after TP gave him a ring and offered to pay for my repairs. 6 weeks for my bike to be repaired, still awaiting parts from Japan. From this incident, one lesson is learned, if knocked a parked vehicle, make damn sure no see us before we go or write a note and leave it on the vehical. By the way, the driver knock down my bike from his front as he was on the line.......

Happens this morning before 7.40am just as I was on my way out for my morning swim, at the traffic junction just outside Blk830A MSCP, opposite my flat Blk838 Hougang Central. Was there to take the pics after my swim around 8.20am, looks like it's a young lady as her right sport shoes came off and she's wearing those half socks (covered up to the edge of the sport shoes) only able to eavesdrop from the reporters that the police do not know how to contact her parents, my guess she could be a student from China but I could be wrong. Very sad, this is the second accident around my area, another one happens on Wednesday morning near by also

To: The driver of a red Toyota Corolla starting with SCE xxxx Date: 16/10/03 Time: Approximately 7.10pm Location: Bus-stop filter lane outside Kallang MRT The scenario: A bunch of colleagues and I was crossing the road when your car sped towards us. There was no traffic light at our point of crossing though. You did not slow down upon seeing people on the road, and continued to speed towards us. You gave us a long horn before you initiated your left signal to indicate that you are going to filter into the bus-stop to pick up your wife/gf. For your information, when you gave your signal, you are only about 10 metres from us. Yes, you almost knock us down. Thankfully, 7 of us managed to run onto the pedestrian path in that split second to escape the accident. There are more than 10 witnesses at the bus-stop if that slipped your mind. A colleague quickly jotted your number in both his notepad and mobile phone SMS. A car behind you saw this incident and stopped by us. He told us that he saw no brake light from your car until you drove into the bus-stop lane. He is certain that you were giving a extremely late signal (about 10 metres) to indicate your intention. In addition, he has been following behind your car and is extremely sure you have been travelling at 90km/h, way past the speed limit on that road. Never mind for this incident. My message to this driver: You are lucky you met us, that we are quick enough to literally leaped onto the pedestrian path. What do you think if it was an old man or old woman who is unable to react like us? We have taken your car license plate and should we happen to see such a situation from you again, we will not hestitate to submit your license plate to the Traffic Police for reckless driving. ** Two public members whom we don't even know, resort to pointing their middle finger at you, which you ignored, either you did not see or purposely pretend not to see. Be glad that we give you enough respect not to do likewise. Ed
